Naruto's Secret Hideout

When Naruto left the hideout to see the Hokage for his fuinjutsu lessons, Shisui had been practicing adapting his taijutsu style for a while now. He wanted to be able to defend his right side since his eye got ripped out by Danzo. Shisui wished to have the ability to use his afterimage jutsu, using a one-handed seal instead of two hands and freeing the other hand for defending in case of an attack or going on the offensive, attacking the enemy with a weapon. It became difficult to figure out how to create that same hand sign for his jutsu and find the appropriate amount of chakra to use the jutsu correctly. He began to train blindfolded by sharpening his senses since he lost his eye, handicapping him from fighting at full capabilities. Souly being dependent on the sharingan would be nothing but arrogant. It would lead a person to a quick death by overestimating one's abilities. He would greatly benefit by polishing his abilities from the training, leaving his sharingan as his trump card.

Sometime later, when Shisui finished training, he noticed that Naruto hadn't returned to the hideout. He began to wonder what was taking him so long to get back. Knowing that trouble-making blond, he might be planning a prank on some poor soul that must have angered him. Shisui could only smirk at the thought of what type of devious plot he was putting together. He began to have a funny feeling that something happened during the day that was out of the blond's control, so Shisui needed to find out if it was good or bad. He would have to find out if that brat returned to the hideout, or he would send his summons to find Naruto.

Shisui tried to anticipate all the threats that Naruto might be facing. Most people would be worried about being kidnapped by ninjas from other villages. But in Konoha, Naruto is a particular case, but in a wrong way. villagers and ninjas wouldn't hesitate to hurt or kill Naruto with their blind anger. So how did an S-class secret leak to the village that he is a jinchuriki? It was too convenient for the whole of Konoha to hate the child who was used to save the whole village from being destroyed by the Kyuubi.

Shisui's suspicions led him to believe Danzo was the one who leaked the information. Ever since the attack and finding out, he had a sharingan hidden behind his bandages. He could use the sharingan to manipulate the civilian council and maybe even certain villagers with business to drive the child to despair. That is when Danzo would appear in the picture to a desperate child to take him in and teach him everything he needs to know. All he would have to do is show his undying loyalty. A child with no parents, no home, with no hope for a future, No one would care if he lives or dies.

He would be taken in and turned into a weapon by Danzo. Who wouldn't hesitate to usurp the title of Hokage away from the Sandaime? And to plant his ideals to the next generation of ninjas of Konoha. By erasing the teaching of the previous three Hokages. Shisui doesn't want to imagine that if that man ever became Hokage, he would make Naruto his unstoppable pawn and, by proxy, the Kyuubi.

Shisui, who started to get hungry, slowly got off his bed and went to the kitchen. He made a cup of ramen while cutting up some fruits to eat. When he finished eating his meal, he quickly washed his bowl. Shisui went to check the time, and to his surprise, it was getting late since Naruto still hadn't gotten back. Shisui began to get worried because this was not something he would do. Naruto would try to return to the hideout to let him know what was happening. He knew he had to be patient when it came to Naruto.

In the meantime, Shisui decided not to think about it and tried to clear his mind. He began to recall how he was able to fake his death, deceiving everyone who was at the Naka River ravine. He placed a wide area of genjutsu with some flash bombs, paper bombs, and a dead Root Anbu. He was barely able to get away with his life by luck.

(Flashback)

Shisui was running for his life since his Anbu commander betrayed him by taking his right eye. Hoping to make it to their rendezvous spot with Itachi, he dodged the shuriken and kunai thrown at him from different directions. He used hit-and-run tactics so the enemy wouldn't capture or kill him. He would skillfully cripple the root ninjas that were hunting him. With his clever tactics and [Zanzo Bunshin,] Shisui could fend them off without a problem. When he finally reached the spot, he knew that this would be where Shisui would have to fake his death as Shisui thought about how and where he would have to stay and live if not in Konoha. He probably figured it out when the time came.

He started his plan by using genjutsu on a large area around him to change the perception of Root's Anbu. He will have to kill a few Root members to stall for time since Itachi hasn't arrived yet. When the Root Anbu reached him, Shisui quickly attacked them, not leaving any chance for a counterattack against him. He whispers his [Zanzo Bunshin] for misdirection to commence his attack. Before the Anbu knew it, Shisui did a surprise attack. Three identical figures of himself began to attack simultaneously, using three attacks on each of the Anbu he was fighting.

One slashed down with his tanto, while another gave rapid horizontal attacks to make the opponent back off quickly. At the same time, the last Root member blocked a slash going upwards in an attempt at a surprise attack. Only for them to exchange quick sword strikes as no one got injured. Shisui was causing them to retreat as he led them to the next part of his strategy. Shisui kept moving around so his opponents could locate him and take advantage of their numbers. While attacking the Root Anbu, he began changing his fighting pattern. When he saw his opportunity, he quickly took the chance to surprise his opponent by stabbing his tanto through the back of the calf, piercing through the Anbu foot as well. The Root Anbu grunted from the pain as he received a shuriken to the back and side of the head, killing the Root Anbu. Shisui didn't hesitate to dispatch the Anbu and quickly set up his death for everyone to witness.

Two hidden Root Anbu jump out to try to overwhelm him with numbers. They began to set up a formation to incapacitate the Uchiha without killing him so they could bring him back to their leader. They devised an excellent strategy: two Anbu members would do a hit-and-run attack. At the same time, the other would use either long-distance jutsu or senbon needles with paralyzing poison. And they were working with good teamwork coordination, which made it hard for Shisui to get the upper hand on them. But in the end, he just found it like a challenge to beat them and to bring his illusion into reality.

Shisui threw a smoke bomb to take away the enemy's sight; he got on one knee and began to do hand signs, firing off a fireball jutsu, then he turned around and performed a multi-phoenix jutsu and hidden inside the flame shuriken with wires attached. So he could also change the direction of his attack with a misdirection. Shisui hit one of the Anbu with his second attack, making him stagger as the rest of the squad got into a defensive position. Luckily, this gave Shisui the time to use another jutsu while Root Anbu was distracted.

"[Raiton: Jibashi,]" Shisui whispers when a lightning current hits his injured targets and catches another Anbu off guard. He reduces the fighting force by two members as he uses his [Zanzo Bunshin] to attack the other three members and stab the other two in the head. Then, the remaining hidden Root members came out in full force, trying to kill the Uchiha. During the entire time, Shisui kept fighting with hit-and-run tactics and with [Zanzo Bunshin], kept the Anbu from outright overwhelming him. He was going to get multiple injuries all over his body. He was still determining if he would be able to finish his plan. When outside his senses, he felt Itachi heading his way at full speed, he knew right away that he needed to make sure that faking his death was going to be really difficult. With Itachi being a genius, he could figure it out. That's why Shisui was needed to trick and confuse the mind of Itachi to prevent him from finding him.

Shisui performed the [Kage Bunshin Jutsu] when they puffed into existence and knew what the original wanted him to do. Since performing the jutsu made him lose a lot of chakra fast. The clone vanishes and waits for the right time for the original to make his move while sitting up the distraction. Shisui skillfully moved the battle closer to the ravine's edge, where he was fending off his attackers while trying to stay alive. Shisui's clone setting up the misdirection set off a paper bomb, causing the Root Anbu to jump out of the way. Only one of them got caught and used like a meat shield. Only enemies were left as Shisui was surrounded and had nowhere to go when one of the Root Anbu spoke.

"Give yourself up. Danzo-sama still needs you alive to get the other eye you have on your person. You still have a purpose for being alive, and it is your duty to Danzo-sama for you to procreate." Root Anbu said in a monotone voice as Shisui's sweat drop.

"Yeah, I don't think so. I'd rather die than give Danzo my other eye or make babies with random women. I still have my pride as a Uchiha and a Ninja of Konoha of the Hidden Leaf." Shisui said when he saw the person he was waiting to strike down a Root Anbu while the others threw their kunai with paper bombs wrapped on the handle. One was hitting the ground close to his feet. The rest of the kunai hit their fellow Anbu. Then, all of a sudden, another paper bomb was set off, along with a smoke bomb. When finally Shisui was able to Kawarimi with his hidden shadow clone. The clone, knowing what he had to do, jumped into the ravine with his hostage While the original began to make a five-layer genjutsu. He set off another paper bomb and a flash bomb, obstructing everyone's sight. When the hostage blows up at the same time, the other two explosions happen. At the same time, the real Shisui was diving into the water when a rock hit him in the back of the head, knocking him out. The river current took him away. He was leaving no trace of himself behind.

Shisui sucked in a deep breath when he decided to finally send a crow to find Naruto for him so he could get some peace of mind. The last thing he wanted was for someone from Root to probe his mind, only to find out that he was still alive and plotting how to kill Danzo. Shisui knew the risk of being discovered was too significant. Still, it was a small price to pay for educating Naruto so he would be ready against all enemies trying to use or kill him. Shusui did a few hand seals when he said, "[Kuchiyose no Jutsu!]" when a crow landed on Shisui's forearm when he spoke to it.

"Go find Naruto-chan and lend me your eye so I can see everything," Shisui said, and the crow nodded in response. He walked over to the dirt wall, made a tunnel with his earth jutsu wide enough for the crow to exit from the hideout, and began to fly away to find its objective.

Shisui only hoped that everything would be okay and that he had nothing to worry about as he returned to his room. But he still had a bad feeling that, somehow, Naruto's situation had become more complicated than he anticipated. Shisui would soon find out some shocking news, leaving him baffled and, at the same time, happy with the outcome. He would also find out when Naruto returned and explain everything. All Shisui can do now is wait for his summon or Naruto to receive good news.

Somewhere in the Land of Rice Paddies

When Itachi reported his findings to the Hokage and the elders a couple of months ago, he knew that the Uchiha clan had met its fate. And ever since then, he has been having nightmares since he massacred the Uchiha clan. It also left him with many more questions about why the Hokage changed his decision. Itachi thought only the conspirators were the ones to be executed. They were leaving out any who were not aware of the crisis of a civil war to back out and protect the innocent children possibly.

That's when the Anbu commander approached him on the change of mission details, telling him to eliminate the whole Uchiha clan except his younger brother. Itachi agreed without any hesitation, but in the back of his mind, he felt something was off. He intended to find out the truth, and in the end, he was able to put the pieces together and found that Danzo set him up. He went before the Hokage for the answers he was looking for. The Hokage told Itachi that Danzo received a harsh punishment for deceiving mission details.

Itachi was stripped of his rank and status as he became an S-Rank, missing-nin, and he would no longer be able to involve himself in Konoha military affairs but only in the shadows. The Hokage assigned Itachi a long-term S-rank mission to infiltrate a dangerous organization by gathering information and secretly sending it to Konoha. In exchange, the Hokage would protect Sasuke from all enemies in and outside the village. The other matter on Itachi's mind was his friend Uchiha Izumi, and ever since Itachi was a child, he was socially awkward with the opposite sex. Thanks to the fangirls who stalked him and chased him around, he chose to stay away from the female gender altogether. The only ones he was okay around were his kaa-san, his aunt Kushina, his teammate Shinko, and Izumi, who was around his age.

Itachi knew that true ninja shut off their emotions for the good of the mission. He couldn't find it in himself to kill his friend Izumi since she felt the same as him when it was about the clan. And because of that, he figured out the best time to strike the Uchiha down without worrying about killing her. Fortunately for Izumi's team, they were assigned to a C-rank mission out of the village. Itachi ensured the remaining clan members were at the compound the night he began his mission.

Itachi wanted to save his mother since she always stayed neutral on essential matters. She never got involved when being part of the coup d'etat. She was always in a difficult position, being the clan head's wife. And she had no say in important matters since the Uchiha elders forbade it. The only thing he was thankful for was the fact he didn't have to kill his beloved mother. He was unsure if he could handle the despair in his heart, only for him to look blankly with a different attitude.

The other thing he did that he was not supposed to do was to tell anyone of his S-rank mission. But after Danzo's betrayal, he thought he should tell someone he trusted about the situation. He would like to have one person do his request in the village without it being illegal other than staying in communication. But he would wait to see if he could find the right person to communicate with someone in the future. Itachi wished his older brother figure was still alive so he could speak to him about his matters.

Then he thought of his last conversation with the Hokage before leaving the village, promising to protect Sasuke from outside enemies of the village and within the walls as well. As Itachi thought about the Hokage's words, he realized that if the Sandaime Hokage were to die, Sasuke would become vulnerable to inside and outside forces. Now that he was thinking about it, he knew the Sandaime duped him with his clever wording. But he never had to really worry about the Sandaime since he chose diplomacy over war.

That brings him to his next set of concerns: Shimura Danzo, a war hawk of the highest order. He was doing illegal operations and assassination missions all over the Elemental Nation. Danzo is a deplorable human being by tricking Itachi into killing the whole Uchiha clan when it should have been only the conspirators. Forcing a 13-year-old to make an impossible decision, he efficiently used the weakness in his heart. After some time to think of everything, Uchiha Itachi was somewhat bitter about the whole situation.

By threatening Danzo to stay away from Sasuke or else he would reveal some of Konoha's secrets to the other nations. And by letting the Sandaime know of Danzo performing unsanctioned operations. Itachi found proof that Danzo, from the shadows, was manipulating other villages, not counting his civilian council. Itachi vows to himself that when he gets an opportunity, he will finish off Danzo since he is the embodiment of an infection growing under the great tree.

Since joining the Akatsuki, Itachi has gathered valuable information to send back to the Hokage. But before sending out his scroll with the report, he wanted to review his collected data. He split it into" personnel" and "undetermined." From the beginning, Itachi has been trying to figure out the mystery of this so-called Uchiha Madara. He knows for a fact that the person who recruited him into the Akatsuki was the man who killed his teammate, Izumo Tenma. Something that he would never forget for the rest of his life. Since that was the day that he awoke his sharingan, since he was able to make bonds with someone. And then he saw him again in the village while skulking outside the Uchiha compound.

When he saw him for the third time, he asked the man to help kill the Uchiha clan. Surprised by the request, he agreed on the condition that he would join his organization. If the man claiming to be Madara thought, he would believe him. Then, he knew the man was trying to manipulate him. Itachi might know things that no other Uchiha might know. Did anyone think that Madara would have found a woman to bear him children when he left Konoha. There were many possibilities, but no one asked the questions that needed to be asked. His body frame looked like someone in their early twenties. It did not resemble Uchiha Madara in any way, as Itachi took his word with a grain of salt. Madara began to explain to him that he was the actual leader of the organization. While the man they met earlier was just a figurehead, making them some of the most dangerous mercenary group in the Elemental Nations.

It's when Itachi's secondary mission began as a double agent to feed information to the leaf, hoping to protect Konoha from all outside forces. After listening to the leader Pein's goal to obtain peace, Itachi knew he could fit in without any problem. Now, he needed to gather information on the members since they were all S-rank missing-nin. At least most of the members looked like it would be easy enough to collect other than fake Madara, Pein, and Konan. To Itachi's surprise, finding out that Orochimaru was with the organization truly surprised him since he didn't look like the type of person to follow someone else order since betraying Konoha. Just like Orochimaru summons, he is a snake who would stab you in the back at the first chance he got. Itachi began to wonder what his true motives were with the Akatsuki. Only time will tell.

Pein, the leader and figurehead of the Akatsuki, is an S-rank ninja, a very intimidating and powerful man who does not hesitate to eliminate a person or a threat. He looks around his late twenties or early thirties; from the looks, he might have ocular jutsu. He is brilliant and doesn't trust anyone in the organization except Konan. In the meantime, he has no known jutsu. His goal is to create a world of peace by creating pain.

Konan, who is Pein's partner, seems familiar with him. Konan looked to be around her late twenties or early thirties. She is an attractive woman, who has a stoic demeanor. I was able to sense a good measure of power she was hiding. She is knowledgeable and, from the looks of it, has a good understanding of tactics. From the looks of it, when Itachi looked into her eyes. He could see many emotions, but the main one was distrust, not towards him but towards Madara. At the moment, I haven't seen any personal jutsu or what elements she can use.

Kakuzu, Is a missing-nin from Takigakure. He is a very greedy and miserly individual. He would get a hold of his contacts along with Sasori, Pein, and Konan. And set up a job that would gain the organization's most profits. He heard a rumor that he once tried to assassinate the Shodai Hokage but failed. He is quick to anger and can become extremely violent. To the point he heard the rumor that he killed his last four partners. His excuse was, "He was not fast enough to move out of the way of my attack."

Sasori is a missing-nin from Sunagakure. And a former member of the Puppet Brigade. He became very impatient, keeping people waiting when doing business. He gets irritated if they make him stay longer than needed so that he would use the person as a human experiment for his puppet jutsu. Itachi heard a rumor before joining Akatsuki; Konan offered him a chance to join, but he refused initially. She then made a counteroffer: if she defeated him, he would join. Itachi figured he knew the outcome of the battle. He is mighty and can use all the elements.

Hidan is an immortal missing-nin from Yugakure. He worships a religion called Jashin and, in Itachi's opinion, uses the act to murder for his pleasure. He carries a long, three-bladed scythe and a short metal spear. Hidan has a foul mouth, cursing every time he says a sentence, and is disrespectful. He would flat-out ignore him and hope never to see him again.

Last but not least, Orochimaru was the one person he was surprised to see in the organization. Then again, he is Akatsuki's science and development scientist. No one knows his true motives, so the leadership is on a wait-and-see policy. He showed great interest in Hidan, finding out that he was immortal, the one thing Orochimaru had wanted for a long time: the chance to live forever so he could learn every jutsu in the world.

He was partnered with Juzo Biwa, a jonin from Kirigakure and a former Seven Swordsmen of the Mist member. He is the wielder of the Kubikiribōchō and a very powerful ninja strong enough to be the Mizukage. He seems to be a very serious man who takes his occupation seriously. Tend to work well in teamwork to the point of making formation when in battles. In a way, Itachi enjoys his company when he travels since he likes to talk.

In contrast, he likes to listen to his dry humor. He wonders what the future holds for the world. Only time will tell. Itachi mused to himself as he waited for his partner to rendezvous with him to finish their mission. He took out a box of pocky and began to eat his favorite sweets with a small smile.

Hokage Office

It was late into the night, and the Hokage was working on the piles of paperwork. He had gone through a lot in the last few days since they discovered Uzumaki Karin, forcing him to reveal certain S-class secrets he didn't want to be brought to light and stressing the elderly Hokage full of headaches because of the village council. The Hokage hoped he would't have more trouble heading his way in the coming days. He was startled when he heard the person who had snuck into his office speak.

"Sensei, you must be having fun if you are here in the office so late still working on the paperwork. I would have thought you would be in your room reading your Icha Icha Paradise book while smoking your tobacco and drinking your tea before going to bed." Jiraiya said, teasing the old man for wasting his time doing paperwork so late.

"Jiraiya, So what do you think of this situation you heard at the council meeting the other day?" The Hokage asked his most faithful student, stopping what he was doing as he took out his tobacco and pipe.

"Ah, sensei, I wish you wouldn't have done that. But I understand why you had to do that. The fact that Kushina had backup plans for Naruto's guardianship at least was able to think ahead of the worst-case scenario. I guess she disagreed with Minato's decision with the announcement of Naruto being exposed to being the jinchuriki of the Kyuubi. And since this happened, she could have her last testament read out in front of everyone, leaving no room for arguments. And to put the cherry on top right before her death she was able to have some sent out a letter to the Daimyo with a fuinjutsu kanji as a beacon to get to Konoha to resolve matter about the Uzumaki clan. No one knew she was still communicating with Daimyo was the real surprise; getting his backing and was able to cement her claims and rights of power over the Uzumaki clan. Taking it away from the council that has been using their money for many years since she passed away during the attack." Jiraiya said, feeling unsure about Naruto's entire situation since it going to put another target on his god son back.

"Any other thought you might have, Jiraiya? The Sandaime pressed for more details.

"Geez, sensei, this really did turn into a circus show. I still have to find Tsunade and, give her the letter and why she was not informed. Sensei, do you have a reason for giving me, or should you also take the blame for this part? Is my godson going to be alright staying at the Uchiha compound?

"Jiraiya, I'll take full responsibility to let her know there were circumstances. Tell Tsunade that she is ordered to return to the village; failure to do so will place her and her apprentice on the bingo book with large bounties on their heads. She would never be able to live in peace for the rest of their lives. If she tries to refuse, tell her to stop being so selfish in putting her apprentice in danger because of her. She might not be happy but try to give her the letter first. If nothing convinces her to return, do as I told you to do. I'll take care of the fallout," The Sandaime told his student in a resigned manner and just waited for his fate.

"Okay, sensei, I'll go and find her then. Is there anything else you wanted to tell me about the situation with Naruto?" Jiraiya asked before he left the village. Sarutobi thought momentarily before remembering what he wanted to ask his student.

"Jiraiya, will you meet Naruto-kun, or are you still running away from your responsibilities? It wouldn't hurt for you to introduce yourself to him, so at least he knows who his godfather is. I have already told him that you are on a long-term mission and haven't been able to visit the village since the Kyuubi attack. He is still young enough not to care about you not visiting him as long as you can give or maybe impress him with something useful as he grows up." The Sandaime said while smirking at his old student.

Jiraiya pondered for a moment what his sensei told him, and then an idea came to him. and knew if he would show his godson this jutsu and teach it to him. And in the future, he could take his godson to the hot springs and teach him about the wonderful world of adulthood.

"I'll meet him when I come back from the mission, so me and Tsunade would be able to talk to him and get to know him together. It would be easiest that way there would be no problem. She would probably want to meet him since she is technically his great-aunt, and they are blood-related. Maybe things won't turn so bad when we talk to him." Jiraiya said as he rubbed his chin, pondering if that would be the best solution.

"Don't see that as a bad idea, Jiraiya. I have nothing else to tell you, so if you want, you may go. I was hoping you could send me a messenger toad to let me know you are going with her and to let me know how upset she might be," The Sandaime said as he took a sip of his tea.

"You got it, sensei? Now I'm off," Jiraiya said as he jumped out the window late into the night.

The Hokage only sighed to himself, and he begins to finish his paperwork late into the night as he begins to make a propane plan together to pass off the hat to someone worthy of becoming Hokage.

Root's Underground Hideout

"Report!" Danzo said as he sat in his office, reviewing other reports and assigning covert missions to make Konoha the strongest village from the past.

"A group of refugees from Nadeshiko has entered the Land of Fire and are now being watched by the Hokage's Anbu and ours. Our spies from Kiri had sent a report that they had hired a mercenary group of S-rank ninjas to take control of the island of Nadeshiko. I have read on another report we got from another spy saying two S-rank ninjas crushed the all-female ninja island, killing the leader and many of the kunoichis. I also received word that the Jonin commander for Nadeshiko will ask for asylum to protect their leader's daughter and is heading toward Konoha. The reason for coming to Konoha was because Jiraiya-Sama promised the leader of Nadeshiko that if ever something happened, Konoha would give a hand if possible." Fū said and paused to let all the information be digested by his leader when he continued to speak.

"From what I understand, their village has been invaded by two S-rank criminals. We also got word from one of our spies that Kiri is the village that contracted the two criminals for easier expansion. Since they are the main power of the seas, they figure by taking control of all the surrounding islands except for Uzushiogakure since they still have many Uzumaki fuinjutsu traps." Fū said while kneeling on one knee with his head bowed.

"I see. Keep gathering the information and inform me of any changes. And the time is right, the perfect opportunity to get some new ninja. By losing their home to Kiri, I'm sure we will be able to get new Root recruits. And the well-needed kunoichi that our village lacks. Depending on their numbers and how many chunin and jonin there are, we would have to evaluate them to see if they are at a close enough level to Konoha forces. Danzo said as he paused to think for a moment before continuing to speak.

"I'll give Jiraiya my silent thanks for sending the village refugees to Konoha. With the loss of their village, I'm sure hatred will blossom in some of their hearts, making it easy to manipulate them into joining our cause. And I can't thank Kiri enough for getting rid of another island village while Konoha reeks of its benefits.

Send out a few squads to capture any Nadeshiko kunoichis who still needed to make it to Konoha. This is the perfect time to move since the Hokage will be extremely busy," Danzo thought to himself as he gave his order, and Fū vanished without a trace.

Danzo only thought about how to increase his root forces. And how to weaken his old friend's authority and plot against every village in the Elemental Nations. While still feeling Konoha has become too weak and requires a more aggressive-minded leader to make it the most powerful village rule over the others. He only hopes that the chance to be the Hokage will come soon in the distant future.
