Ness met up with Tina and her friends at the subway.

Kip: "Hey, hey, what's up?"

Ness: "Hi." *Waves hand*

Riley: "How much longer?"

Tina: "Almost here."

They waited another five minutes and the train finally arrived. They boarded. Tina and Ness sat together. Riley and Kip sat across from them.

Riley: "So, human, whatcha like to do?"

Ness: (Human?)

Tina: "Riley, chill. His name is Ness."

Riley: "Right, sorry."

Ness: "It's ok. Um, I like to draw and skateboard."

Kip: "What a coincidence just like Tina."

Ness: "Haha… Yeah."

Tina: "We got a lot in common, don't we~"

She nudged him.

Ness: "Y-yeah! Crazy, huh?"

Kip: "Never thought much about ya until recently."

Ness: "Oh."

Kip: "Apparently you fucked half the roster?"

Riley: "Kind of crazy. You seem like the type who stays in your room all day."

Ness: (I feel attacked.) "No, I didn't do it."

Kip: "So you didn't sleep with a bunch of people?"

Ness: "No."

Tina: "Ness got class."

Riley: "So, wait, you're still a virgin?"

He felt embarrassed. This is so awkward.

Tina: "Guys, c'mon."

Riley: "Sorry, I got curious."

Ness: "So... Tell me about yourself."

Kip: "As you know I'm an inkling, so I'm already good with guns. We all are."

Riley: "We're all musically gifted too."

Ness: (No wonder why Tina has an angelic voice.)

Tina: "No, we're not musically gifted. But we all love music and dance."

Kip: "What, are you saying I can't sing?"

Tina: "And dance, yes."

Kip: "You fuckin' bitch."

Tina: "Hahahm!~"

Ness: *Nervously laughs*

Kip: "Who you laughin' at?"

Ness: "M-me?"

Tina: "You, dumbass." *Points at Kip*

Kip: "New guy thinks he's cooler than me."

Ness: "N-no I didn't-

Tina: "He is~" *Smirks*

Riley: "Damn, Kip. You gonna take that?"

Kip: "I… I challenge you to a music duel!"

Ness: "Wait, what!"

Tina: "Nah, we're gonna go downtown and eat all the food."

Kip: "Fine! I'll challenge you to a music duel in the future."

Ness: "You got it all wrong. I don't think I'm cooler than you."

Riley: "Kip, calm down."

Kip: "I'm messin' with ya, dude."

Tina: "Kip over here gettin' jealous."

Kip: "Nah, just tryin' to rile the new guy up."

Ness: "Haha…"

The train took them downtown. The four started walking around. The pretty lights illuminated the urban town making it look futuristic and lively.

Ness: "So, where are we going?"

Tina: "Anywhere we want~"

Kip: "Fuck yeah! Let's go get somethin' to eat."

They ended up going to a ramen restaurant. Obviously they ordered ramen and chatted.

Kip: "So, how did you two meet?"

Tina: "Me and Ness?"

Kip: "Yuh."

She looked at Ness who looked nervous.

Tina: "Ness and I talked at a cafe."

Ness: (She's lying for my sake. We both know I tried to ask her out at the food court and made a complete fool of myself.)

Riley: "Aww, how sweet~"

Kip: "Sounds basic to me."

Tina: "Nothin' wrong with basic."

Riley: "What did you two talk about?"

Tina: "I don't remember."

Riley: "Do you, Ness?"

Ness: "I-I don't remember either."

Kip: "So it wasn't that special then."

Ness: (This guy…)

Tina: "It was~"

Kip: "Then why don't you two remember?"

Tina: "I do."

Kip: "But you just said that you didn't."

Tina: "Maybe I don't wanna tell you guys."

Kip: "Wha?"

Tina: "It's private."

Riley: "Oh! Sounds like a romantic thing."

Ness: "!" *Blushes*

Tina: "Up to you guys to decide. My lips are sealed."

Kip: "..."

The waiter came and collected their money. Ness was short on cash, but luckily Tina paid for him. He felt embarrassed because he's not used to this. He wanted to be the provider; especially in front of her friends.

The group then went to a cat cafe. Riley said she was going to explode if she didn't pet a cat right this instant.

The three of them were chatting it up. Ness wasn't talking much because her friends gave off these weird vibes that didn't sit right with him.

At one point he had to go to the bathroom, so he excused himself. After he was done, he hid himself and listened to their conversation. He wanted to know how they acted when he wasn't around. Call him a freak, but he wanted to gather more information about her friends.

Kip: "Dude, Tina, whatcha doin' hangin' out with a human?"

Tina: "Why not?"

Riley: "It's weird."

Tina: "Guys, he's chill."

Riley: "He seems scared."

Tina: "I mean you guys were not giving him room to breathe."

Kip: "How so?"

Tina: "Askin' him all those weird questions."

Kip: "What? We were curious."

Tina: "What happened to your funny selves? Why so serious?"

Riley: "Tina, chill. We're just gettin' to know the guy."

Tina: "It's the way you guys are askin'."

Riley: "It's just… Weird ya know. We're not used to humans. They're… Well you know how they are. They're freaks. Do you see the crazy shit they do on the internet?"

Tina: "Bro, that's kind of racist."

Riley: "You agreed that humans are off-putting before."

Kip: "She got a crush on him."

Riley: "A crush on a human? No, I don't think so. She wouldn't crush on a pathetic human that can't even pay for himself."

Tina: "Guys, knock it off."

Kip: "What, we're just sayin'."

Tina: "He's my friend. If you guys get to know him more, you'll understand why I like hanging out with him."

Riley: "I guess…"

Tina: "Humans aren't so bad."

Kip: "Tch!"

Tina: "He's funny and awkward. He's also sweet and supportive. He's the complete opposite from my exes."

Riley: "True, your exes did suck."

Tina: "He's different."

Kip: "That's what you said about your last ex, Darnell."

Tina: "Ugh, but Darnell was faking it in the beginning of our relationship to get in my pants."

Kip: "Who's to say this human isn't?"

Tina: "Ness couldn't fake anything to save his life."

Ness chuckled at that thought. She's right. He's bad at acting.

It seems that her friends don't like him, but at least Tina does. He couldn't stop grinning when she started listing things she likes about him. She's so sweet and never fails to praise him even when he's not around. Does this mean she likes him more than a friend, or is she like that with everyone? Either way, it makes her a genuine person.

Kip: "Say, where is the awkward fucker anyway?"

Riley: "He sure is taking his time."

Kip: "His shit must be an intense one."

Riley: "Think he's crying?"

Kip: "Absolutely."

Tina: "Hahahm! Guys, gross. Stop."

Kip: "Or he's jerkin' it."

Ness: "Jerkin' what exactly?"

Ness entered the scene.

Kip: "Ah! Fuck! Dude, you scared me."

Riley: "Kip is thinkin' you were jerkin' off in the bathroom because you were taking so long."

Ness: "Sorry?"

Kip: "So were you?"

Ness: "No!"

Tina: "Ness, come pet some cats with us."

Lucky came out of his ball and demanded attention.

Riley: "Aww, who's this cutie?"

Ness: "His name is Lucky."

Riley: "Looks like a cat."

Tina: "Is he a cat Pokemon?"

Ness: "I'm not sure. He started off as a fox."

Tina: "Fox cat!"

Kip: "Lucky looks like a girl. You sure it's a dude."

Ness: "Yes."

Tina: "Aww, c'mere, Lucky."

Tina scooped up Lucky in her arms. The Pokemon nuzzled his face into her chest.

Riley: "So wait, we have three Pokemon Trainers in smash?"

Ness: "I'm not. I just have a Pokemon."

Kip: "You look like one."

Riley: "Yeah, you kind of look like that one boy. What's his name again? He's the one with the red hat."

Ness: "Red."

Riley: "Seriously? I thought his name was just Pokemon Trainer."

Kip: "Dumb name."

Ness: "It's Red."

Tina: "How is he? I heard about his Charizard." *Frowns*

Ness: "I'm not sure. I've been avoiding him."

Tina: "Why?"

Ness: "I don't think he likes me."

Tina: "What?"

Ness: "Yeah, he's mistaking me for my clone."

Kip: "Clone?"

Ness: "It's a long story."

Tina: "Yeah, The Hands introduced his clone to us, remember?"

Kip: "Psssh, no."

Tina: "What was his name again?"

Ness: "Nate."

Tina: "Riiiight. Yeah, that guy is chill."

Ness was curious what she thought of his clone. Did she like Nate more? However, he bit his tongue. He didn't want to bring it up in front of her friends. They were already obnoxious enough. He didn't want them to ask more questions.

Tina: "So, you guys are chill now, right?"

Ness: "Yeah!"

Tina: "You still talk to him?"

Ness: "Yes, actually. We play games every night."

Riley: "You two sound close."

Ness: "We are. It didn't start off like that though. I would've never thought we would get along."

Kip: "Huh? Why?"

Ness: "He… It's a long story."

Tina: "Yeah, Nate uh, basically he took over Ness's life."

Riley: "I'm lost."

Tina: "But you two made up?"

Ness: "Yeah, I forgave him."

Tina: "Wow. You're like me for real."

Ness: "I am?"

Tina: "We both don't hold grudges."

Riley: "You sure about that? You still hate Darnell."

Tina: "He was a real piece of shit and still is."

Kip: "So, you would forgive him?"

Tina: "Yeah, if he changed."

Ness: "That's mature of you."

Tina: "I can say the same for you. I'm surprised you two are talkin'."

Ness: "It's water under the bridge."

Tina: "Glad to know you two are getting along. Anyway, it's gettin' late. Don't want to miss the train. Shall we head back?"

Kip: "Yuh."

They all went back to the train station. Lucky hopped on Ness's shoulder and stayed there the entire ride back home.

Riley and Kip split ways. Ness and Tina were walking and chatting.

Tina: "I'm sorry for their behavior. They're usually not like that."

Ness: "Oh, it's ok."

Tina: "You sure?"

Ness: "I mean, I have the feeling that they don't like me."

Tina: "It's not that. They're not used to you, that's all."

Ness: (You sure it's not because they're racist.) "Yeah, ok."

Tina: "You guys will warm up to each other."

Ness: "I sure hope so." (I doubt it.)

Tina: "Were things awkward?"

Ness: (Very.) "No. I'm just quiet."

Tina: "I get it. I can be quiet too."

Ness: "Yeah, you know us introverts."

Tina: "Well, we gotta keep hanin' out and eventually you guys will like each other."

Ness: (Ugh, no. Being around them sucked.) "Yeah, for sure!"

Tina: "Cool. The four of us should hang all the time. I know you guys will hit it off."

Ness: "Y-yeah!"

Tina: "Anyway, it's past midnight. Lemme take you back to your room."

Ness: "Are you kidding me? Not this time. Let me be the gentleman."

Tina: "Nah."

Ness: "Aww, why not? I can't always be your princess."

Tina: "Yes you can~"

Ness: "B-but-

Tina: "I'll be the one to always walk you back~"

Ness: "Can't we at least play rock, paper, scissors?"

Tina: "Fine."

They played a round and surprisingly he won.

Ness: "Ha!"

Tina: "Damn, ok. Guess I'm the princess."

Ness walked her back to her room. She smiled and gave him a hug.

Tina: ["I had a great time."]

She whispered in his ear which filled his stomach with butterflies.

Ness: "Y-yeah, me too."

Tina: "Goodnight."

Ness: "Goodnight."

She closed the door and he made his way to his hall. He took out his keys to open his door.

?: "Hey."

Ness: "!"

He got scared and dropped his keys. He turned around and saw Sonic.

Ness: "Sonic, what're you doing here?"

Sonic: "Just hangin' around."

Ness: "How long have you been waiting for me?"

Sonic: "Not too long."

Ness: "What about the party?"

Sonic: "I can ask you the same."

Ness: "You know why I couldn't go. I told everyone in the group chat."

Sonic: "Going to work, right?"

Ness: "Yes. What's your excuse? Shouldn't you be at the party?"

Sonic: "It's over."

Ness: "This early?"

Sonic: "Whatchu mean? It's one am."

Ness: "It is?!"

Sonic: "Weird that a job keeps you workin' this late. You must have really wanted to impress them."

Ness: (Shit… He knows…) "..." *Glares*

Sonic: "Hmph! Looks like you figured it out."

Ness: "..." *Averts his eyes*

Sonic: "So you lied to us to hang out with some friends, huh?"

Ness: "I…"

Sonic: "Who were they?"

Ness: "They were co-workers."

Sonic: "Uh-huh. So, you ditched your real friends to hang out with some co-workers."

Ness: "N-no! I… Well…" *Sighs*

Sonic: "You didn't have to lie. Lucas was upset ya know."

Ness: "He was?"

Sonic: "Of course he was. Dude, c'mon."

Ness: "Well I thought-

Sonic: "Thought what, huh?"

Ness: "If you didn't cut me off, then you would know."

Sonic: "Tch!"

Ness: "Look, I thought you guys would be ok without me. It was the one time and there's five of you."

Sonic: "It's not about the numbers. It's about flakin' out on your friends."

Ness: "I was busy! What, I'm not allowed to do my own thing? I don't have to go EVERY Thursday."

Sonic: "You don't get it."

Ness: "I didn't mean to hurt you guys. But sometimes, things come up at the last second."

Sonic: "That's not why I'm mad."

Ness: "Then why?"

Sonic: "It's the fact that you lied about it."

Ness: "I…"

Sonic: "That you can't deny."

Ness: "..."

Sonic: "You're lying to your friends like how Nate did."

Ness: "Don't compare me to him!"

Sonic: "I mean it's true."

Ness: "I'm nothing like him!"

Sonic: "You two are more alike than you think."

Ness: "You don't know anything about us."

Sonic: "You're right, but I do know is that you two like to lie to your friends to benefit yourselves."

Ness: "That's…" *Bites lip and looks away*

Sonic: "So, was it worth it? Did you have fun with your 'co-workers'?"

Ness: "No…"

Sonic: "Look, I'm happy that you're trying to be more outgoin' and all, but bailing out on your friends is no good."

Ness: "I know…"

Sonic: "You should tell them the truth."

Ness: "..."

Sonic: "A good person would. I'll give you until next Thursday and if you don't tell them, then I will."

Ness: "Ok, I'll tell them."

Sonic: "You better."

With that Sonic ran off. For once Ness didn't have a comeback. He knew he was in the wrong this time. He should've at least told the truth and said that he was hanging out with Tina.

He was scared that if he told them that it's because of Tina, they would be disappointed and make fun of him for it. It didn't matter. They were disappointed regardless. It was a dick move on his part.

He unlocked his door and went inside his room. He changed to a shirt and boxers and plopped on his bed. He took out his phone and realized he had missed messages.

Nate: a romcom we just finished i cried

Ness: You cried?

Nate: i think im a sucker for romantic movies

This caused Ness to chuckle to himself. That's so Nate. He would be into cheesy romcoms. The dude is an emotional lover boy.

He checked his message with Lucas and frowned.

Lucas: Hey I was wondering if you and I can have breakfast together

Lucas: Hello?

Lucas: Sonic wants chili dogs again haha! Wanna come with me to buy some for the party tonight?

Lucas: You there?

He felt bad. He wasn't there for him. Dammit! He should've been more thoughtful. He was distracted because of Tina. It's not her fault of course. He should've told Tina that he hangs out with his friends every Thursday.

At the moment all he wanted to do was be with her.

Flashback

Sonic: "So, what is worth it? Did you have fun with your 'co-workers'?"

…

He did and he didn't. It was awkward. He liked being around Tina, but her friends turned out to be racist. They made him feel unsafe. He probably would've had more fun if he went to the party.

The party… Lucas most likely didn't have a good time. He probably sat there feeling sad and awkward. He imagined the blonde barely speaking.

He thought Lucas would be ok because he made a joke in the group chat. However, from what Sonic was saying, it made it seem like Lucas shut himself down. He needs to text him back.

Ness: Hey, buddy. I'm sorry I didn't reply to your messages earlier and didn't come to the party.

…

No reply. He started feeling anxious. Lucas is upset with him. There was tension and it was killing him inside. He needs to fix this. He got up and put on sweatpants.

Lucky: "Espii?"

The Espeon opened his one eye and yawned.

Ness: "I'll be right back. Go back to sleep."

Lucky: "Espi."

He saw his Pokemon curl up into a ball and close his eyes. He gave Lucky a kiss on the head and left.

He made his way over to Lucas's door and gently knocked.
