-Chapter 2: UA, a Green-Haired Hero Boy, and a Brown-Haired Gravity Girl-
The Present Day, 2149
Days before the physical exam, Goku was continuing his intense training regimen, mostly on pulling on vehicles and doing a lot of push-ups, sit-ups, and jogging around Musutafu, all while wearing 20kg on his wrists and feet, and 35kg with an undershirt. With the frenzy of especially intense physical regimen, his parents routinely reminded him to also study up on his courses to make sure that he can pass the Written Exams. Regardless of what happens here and now, they still wanted to give him a gift for all the hard work that he had done over the years, both academically and physically. Much to the teenager's joy, it was an orange gi, adorned with the turtle kanji on the back, complete with a blue belt and a pair of blue wristbands.
The day had finally came, of which Goku felt his heart beat the fastest it's ever beaten in excitement. As the mass of Hero-to-Be's were approaching the auditorium at UA, he was sprinting, wearing his orange gi and blue shirt, accidentally bumping into the nervous, shy green-haired boy. Before the boy felt the concrete floor crashing into his face, a hand touched him, and he floated in place, mid-fall.
"Oops, sorry there, kid! I guess I was too excited!" Goku scratched the back of his hand, giggling a little nervously as he helped the boy right himself. He looks at the boy, who was looking back at him with nervousness, admiration, and fear of this stranger. Actually, this kid seems familiar somehow, Goku had thought, studying the boy.
"W-wow, you're fast and s-strong..." the young boy nervously spits out, softly. He soon felt himself weighed back down, as a brown haired girl deactivated her Quirk.
"It's a bad omen to trip and fall before a big event, you know!" the brown haired girl said, the green haired boy looking away, looking super nervous to even be within her presence while she was beaming with a great smile. "My Quirk, Zero Gravity, was why you didn't fall onto your face when he accidentally bumped you!"
"Hey, good luck to you two!" Goku said in his excitement, the brown haired girl and the green haired boy both nod and flash a thumbs-up, he is a bit shakier while the girl was full of determination.
"Good luck to you two, as well! I'm sure you'll do fantastic!" she replied back, a warm smile met the two.
"Y-yeah... Good luck to you two, as well...!" the boy replied nervously as he slinked off towards the auditorium.
"You!" A blue-haired boy yelled towards the monkey-tailed boy, his hands gesturing in a swift manner. "You need to be careful and look where you were going, unless you were planning on tripping that boy!"
"Hey, it was an accident, I swear!" Goku yelled at the tall teen in self-defense, finally going in while the tall teen was a drama queen and went in after them.
"Those bastards... Do they seriously think they can beat me? Especially that pathetic weakling, Deku?! Hmmph, maybe he'll get himself outed," a blonde kid said, in a hushed, yet angered voice as he stares daggers at Goku and the boy he called Deku, whom he held a grudge for their school life. The crime? Helping him after he fell in the creek. And having a posse of yes-men who would easily overlook a red stain on the floor should it inconvenience their leader.
The UA Written Exam was child's play, handled by a Heroine wearing BDSM gear and a weird looking Hero who can clone himself in a giant lecture hall, like you'd see in a University. Many questions, multiple long-written answers, and about two hours later, the Written Exam had reached its conclusion. Now came the hard part of waiting for that Physical Exam to come. Unfortunately, the boy couldn't get a good read on anybody aside from the Heroine and the multiple clones of that other Hero, since it was so boring his mind kind of slept away the minor details. However, even without knowing just who was in there, he could tell there was a lot of people with amazing potential just taking the test.
After the bore that was the Written Exam, the teachers cleared out, and replacing them was a singular man with blonde hair standing all the way up, a large speaker array surrounding his lower face, and some gaudy-looking shades that'd befit a radio DJ. And upon hearing the man speak, Goku felt his ears were going to rupture, as he closed his ears with his hands, yelping.
"WELCOME, ALL! To the UA ENTRANCE PHYSICAL EXAAAM! Hosted by your's truly, PRESENT MIC!" The loud-mouthed Hero, Present Mic yelled. "Can I get a HEEEEEEEEEEEEEY?!" And there was nothing. However, it did nothing to stop the Radio Personality from shrugging. "Alright, you're all a bunch of rambunctious tykes, ready to hit the big show! Can I get a YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAH for that?" Again, nothingness. He still shrugged with a wide grin on his face, as the auditorium lights shut off and there's only Mic and a Presentation playing out. "Alright, all of you are nervous! It's only natural, considering what you're all up against! Now it's time to get the fun part after getting past the Written Exams! You all will go and give it your all against these villains!"
"Oh my God, it's actually him, Present Mic's presenting the Exam! He's got a radio program, but he's actually teaching here! Maybe there's more Pros working here-" the green haired kid was mumbling rather loudly.
"Shut up, Deku... Good friggin' grief..." the blonde said towards this "Deku". Of course, his luck was that he was seated next to that nerd.
Present Mic then shows the robots in a presentation, appearing as Mic announces them.
"Now, you kids' will have to fight these Faux Villains in the cityscapes! Their difficulty level will represent the amount of points you earn, so do whatever you need to do to incapacitate these babies within ten minutes!" Mic shouted. "Of course, you'll be outed if you act like an antihero or you decide to attack your fellow participants!"
Goku, unfortunately, doesn't know what those things are, but they kinda look silly. He was not aware that Mic decided to use Super Mario sprites to represent these robots; he somehow getting Nintendo's permission to use sprite likenesses of their mooks.
"So, I'm in B and Kacchan was in A. It makes some sense, considering that it'd prevent schoolmates from helping with each other, and why they're sat so close together..." the boy was mumbling again, and just before 'Kacchan' could do any rash actions, a presence interrupts their actions.
"I must interrupt! On your presentation, there's nothing to indicate a fourth monster as showcased on the handouts!" The blue-haired teen spoke again, posing his arms dramatically. "Also, can you please be quiet, kid with the green and curly hair? I can hear your mumbling over the presentation and it's super disruptive!" He finally sits down.
"Four-Eye's can barely shut the Hell up, can he...? Though at least he got that nerd to shut up," the blonde kid muttered close to Goku.
"Right on, Test-Taker 7111 and good catch! I kinda skimmed over him because he is... THE ZERO POINTER! Just avoid them! They are more like an obstacle than a Villain!"
The giant group murmured a bit, though they fell silent as the walking microphone cleared his throat.
"We shall split in groups and conduct these exams in your designated grounds, use everything you want and use your Quirks well! Before you all are dismissed, I shall share with you an inspirational quote from Napoleon Bonaparte: 'True Heroism consists in being superior to the ills of life'. Now, I want you all to really repeat me this time! PLUS ULTRA!" Upon hearing a choir, Mic grinned, he had finally gotten these guys to speak for him.
"PLUS ULTRA!" shouted the audience, aside from 'Deku', as Goku came to recognize. However, somehow, that doesn't sound like that guy's real name.
Goku was designated in Battle Zone 2, alongside the green-haired boy and the chestnut-haired girl, among many more, including the blue-haired tall teen with exhaust pipes coming from his legs glaring right at the other kid, and a pretty blonde boy with a weird belt on his waist. However, the Saiyan saw a lot of kids just coming over to rail on the green haired boy.
"Begin!" Mic yelled sporadically. This was Goku's chance, as he took off sprinting. However, everyone else was too busy railing against the kid to even realize what the Pro had said.
"WELL, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! DISASTERS DON'T WAIT FOR ANYONE! GO, GO, GO!" Mic belted out. Everyone proceeded forward, yet they were far behind their black-haired peer.
Goku's blood was pumping faster than he had ever felt, as he charged ahead. His first opponent showcased itself. It was a pretty large robot by itself, and it had a 2 indicated on its armor.
"Threat detected. Die, Hero," the robot was ready to attack, but just as soon as it started, Goku's fist went directly into the lens, going elbow-deep as he pulled out the robot's CPU, permanently shutting it down.
"Maybe I trained too much for it...?" Goku said to himself, but then a group of robots, three Ones and one Three, came closer.
"You will never live, Hero. Give up," The Three-Pointer said, but it soon was stopped, as its treads were destroyed with Goku's punches. And it barely collapses as a roundhouse kick destroyed the heads of the One-Pointers, with a kick on the Three Pointer tipping it over, unable to get up.
The crowd were shocked to see the orange-gi kid attacking those bots. Every strike had a balance of power and precision. It seemed as if he was effectively using his own body to attack these robots, before they split off to find Robots for their own tallies.
"Target found. Perish," A One-Pointer went towards the green-haired boy, who was paralyzed with fear. However, before he could even try to smash it, the orange-gi kid was able to destroy this robot as well. He doesn't look pleased at the boy's cowardice.
"C'mon, kid! You gotta be willing to use your Quirk or else you'll fail!" He yelled towards his fellow participant. However, their little banter was interrupted as a Two-Pointer fell right behind Goku as the pretty boy fired a laser out of his belt, instantly destroying the Two-Pointer.
"Mes excuses, but it seemed you weren't as vigilant as you thought, oui?" He said. Goku sheepishly chuckled before he fled, trying to find more bots to destroy.
The green-haired boy simply whimpered, not sure what to do and how to do it. Their test were not going unnoticed, as many cameras took a look at the test being conducted.
Back in an observation room, the staff of UA looked at the performances in each of the Battle Zones. A lot of mayhem was ongoing, as these younger Heroes-to-Be were fighting well against the bots, the odd few were able to intercept an attacking bot before their test mate were flattened. However, the star of the show was an enigmatic boy wearing his orange gi and smiling in the face of conflicts and fights. Son Goku, in Battle Zone 2, was cleanly decimating bot after bot. And while it was clear he doesn't go out of his way to help his test mates, he doesn't allow the mechanical terrors to even entertain the thought of a pot shot before he scraps them.
"This 'Son Goku' kid is certainly impressive... definitely has the gusto of being a Hero, but he fights like he has no Quirk at all," One of the staff, a tall, cinderblock of a man, commented.
"Agreed, he definitely has an approach that would be more like a combo platter of Eraserhead and All Might. Hard, punishing strikes with a methodical approach, like a martial artist." Another one, dressed up like he was a component of a Toku mecha, chimed in.
"That kid's definitely a strapping gentlemen! I can't wait until I teach him..." The BDSM Heroine spoke softly, almost sultry as she licks her lips in anticipation.
"I can't believe it... I think I saw that kid not too long ago..." A more spindly staff member was rambling to himself. The principal, a mouse-bear thing anthro animal, heard the ramblings and approached.
"Was this the kid you were training to take your place, Toshinori?" The Principal asked, curious at the boy himself. It definitely looks like a kid who uses One For All.
"N-No, he was a kid I saw while I was training the other one..." Toshinori replied, pointing out the green-haired boy.
"Hmm, that one hasn't even gotten a single point..." the Principal observed, before an idea went off and he brought out a walkie talkie. "Present Mic, would right now be a good time to release the Zero Pointers? I want to see those kids squirm before those giant bolt buckets!"
"Right away, Principal!" Mic chimed in, as he dramatically pushed a button hard. The Zero-Point Robots were finally out to play, and of course, their rumblings were felt as much of the test subjects looked towards the direction of the rumbles in nervous tension and, eventually, horror.
They were not even big robots. They were absolutely titanic, easily over a hundred feet tall in height. However, Goku didn't register the giant thing coming nearby, his dance of battle was interrupted by a dull, but high-pitched groan from behind him.
"Ow... Help...!" The chestnut-brown haired girl said softly, her cheeks being a shade of blue from holding back the nausea. Her lower body was pinned by some debris. Whatever her Quirk was, it seemed she couldn't use it, and the giant robot that threatened her was only ten yards away.
Goku looked around, his eye having caught the green haired kid. However, there was something much different about his tone, compared to everyone else who booked it. This bravery shocked the Saiyan, but he looks back to the brown-haired girl and nodded. The green boy nodded in return, and charged right at the Zero Pointer, while Goku went over to the brown-haired girl to help her out, easily removing the debris from her.
"SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!" The boy yelled, as a single punch was enough to destroy the Zero Pointer. Goku looked at the boy, shocked, but smiling as he shown absolute bravery. However, soon, he noticed that he was starting to fall.
"Please, jump... jump up to him," The girl said. "It's a bad omen to trip during a major event..."
Goku did as she told, and with about thirty feet between the ground and the green-haired boy, she slapped his face with all her might! Miraculously, the boy started to decelerate, and soon, there was only a foot between the boy and the ground.
"Thank you... release," she spoke, as she touched her fingers. However, after the boy collapsed to the ground, she started to feel really queazy. "Put me down, please... I don't... want to..." He did gently put her on the ground, before she started to puke on the floor.
Ew, no wonder why she couldn't get that debris off her lower body, she must have already pushed herself to her limits... Goku thought, before he looked at the green-haired boy. He felt horrible for thinking this kid was a coward, he did what no one else aside from himself would do. The green-haired boy looked at his test mate, giving a pained grin and a nod of approval, but he looked horrified, realizing he had no points to his name. However, a buzzer soon sounds.
"AND THAT'S ALL, FOLKS!" Present Mic shouted, signaling the end the Entrance Exam. There was a crowd gathering around the three, looking at them in shock. Especially the green-haired kid. Soon, there was commotion going on from the back.
"Alright, dearies, make way! Everyone of you gets a piece of candy," An old woman said, giving a tiny gummi candy, as she eventually makes her way to the boy with a frown. "As for you... Unfortunately, it seems that you aren't used to your own Quirk, yet." She soon kisses the boy, and he soon falls unconscious as the energy required for him to keep up was sapped to the injuries. "I'll need to bring out the stretchers. And I think I'll need to have a discussion."
Back on the observation deck, the staff were floored with what had happened in Battle Zone 2. Toshinori had felt a wicked knot in his gut as he saw his protégé out like a burnt-out light bulb. However, Nezu was proud of what had happened. That confirmed to him that, even if the green-haired boy was weak at the moment, that he has amazing potential.
"I was wrong about him, Toshinori," Nezu said, a bit jovial. "He definitely has the spirit of a Hero inside him! And all it took was helping someone he really cared about to get him to move."
"I wished I had trained him better though, Nezu. Poor kid's bones are shattered worse than I had thought they would..." Toshinori replied, both proud and saddened. Proud that he had proven his student, but saddened because he's badly injured. However, his boss has a hand to his back.
"Don't worry. You've had the same struggles as he did, right?" He asked, inquisitive as a chuckle broke the spindly staffer's stoic look.
"More than a lot of people know," replied Toshinori, a small smile coming back to the anthro animal as they returned to work. Elsewhere, the other teachers were looking back at the footage.
"That boy... Jeez, he was heroic, but he's absolutely seen better days..." The cinderblock staffer lamented.
"Though I got to give it to him and the other test subject helping out that girl, they have some chemistry, almost like they knew what to do," the mecha staffer commented.
"Don't discount her, that boy would have been salsa paste if he hit the ground that fast! She definitely played a role in that triangle!" The heroine pointed out.
"Regardless of the outcome, I think we could agree that was Dy-na-mite!" Mic enthusiastically said.
Back on the field, Goku and the chestnut haired girl watched as a couple of bots with stretchers came out and carried off the unconscious boy. However, after the old woman kissed the young girl, she was healed up, though she was more tired.
"Hmm... That kid's really something, though he injured his legs and arm pretty badly destroying that Zero Pointer..." Goku said to himself, as they leave, he opted to just follow the girl.
"I hope he'll be okay, too. It was unfair of me to deny him or even you those points just to rescue me, er... What's your name again?" she asked him. "I'm Ochako Uraraka, and thank you for rescuing me alongside that green-haired kid!"
"Oh, I'm Son Goku, but you can just call me Goku! Nice to meet you, Uraraka! As for that green-haired boy... I think a blonde kid called him 'Deku'? Doesn't sound like his actual name, though..." Goku replied, Uraraka smiled warmly as she started to head off. Before anyone could come towards him, Goku sprints off back home, a job well done in his books.
After a week, the Son family received mail from UA addressed to Goku. After the three open the envelope, a hologram starts playing from a small metal disk.
"DO NOT FEAR, FOR I AM HERE! IN HOLOGRAPHIC FORM!" All Might said, posing in his tacky dress. "Young Son Goku, it's with great pleasure to say that you have passed the Entrance Exam with flying colors! Your powerful blows against the robots was admirable, but your rescue and teamwork with Ochako Uraraka and Izuku Midoriya showcases a great promise of a Hero! So much so, that Miss Uraraka actually wanted to give you and Mister Midoriya her points!" The scene in the hologram shifted to one, where, in front of three teachers, Uraraka stood solo.
"Hey... I have a request. Please give the green-haired boy Deku and Son Goku my points! They deserve it for saving me from that Zero-Pointer!" Uraraka pleaded.
"Miss Uraraka. I'm sorry, but that cannot happen. You've earned your points and we will not reallocate them away from you," Midnight said. However, a small grin came from her face.
"Yeah, we can't do that! That being said, you coming over here, ready to do everything to help them is absolutely Heroic! For sure, you'll see them soon!" Present Mic beamed.
"Wait... so did they pass?" Uraraka said, shocked. Because she knew Goku was shredding robot after robot and would have been good enough, but with this boost, he'll absolutely pass! She was beaming with a smiling radiance that was as infectious as the common cold.
"That was a spoiler, Mic." A tired voice was annoyed that Mic had pretty much revealed the truth, though he did grin towards the girl. "But yes, they have passed, Miss Uraraka. Even that green-haired kid. Now, please go back home. We have a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it."
The scene fades back to just one with All Might.
"Back on schedule, though. You've accumulated a score total of 135 points: 56 Villain Points and 79 Rescue Points; you placed first in the Physical Exam and your Written Exam was within the top tenth percentile! It is with these results that you are a part of Class 1A at UA High School! In addition, I shall be teaching at UA myself, so I hope to see your aspiring spirit at UA when the time comes! This is Your Hero Academia, Son Goku! Go beyond, Plus Ultra! Alright, how many more do I have to make?"
The hologram ends.
Gohan and Mikai look at Goku with tears of joy streaming down their eyes. Not only did he get into UA, but All Might himself complimented on how he had helped save his fellow test mates. Goku felt a great elation as he puts down the hologram.
"Goku, we're so proud of you!" The two yelled in unison, hugging him with so much pressure, he swore he felt like he was going to be crushed into paste. "I think this deserves a feast! I'll make your absolute favorite!" Mikai said, as she started to get to work. The teenager practically salivates, as he always loved Mikai's orange-infused dishes.
"You've done us proud, Goku. But most of all," Gohan said as he placed his hand on his chest. "You've done yourself proud. This is your training and your education paying for itself, and never forget that. Be sure to play well, to live well, and always remember to practice peace before you practice war, because peace is what will help your career as a Hero!"
An hour later, Goku and his family ate a gargantuan feast. It was nothing to him, but the two parents still ate well. This was the first step into a future that will be morphed by the next generation. For better, or for worse.
AN: The inspiration behind Gohan and Mikai's name was me trying to follow up on Toriyama's naming convention, which as mostly foodstuffs. Gohan was obvious, taking Grandpa Gohan, chopping off the Grand part, then giving him a Quirk based on rice, specifically Mochi. Mikai is actually a corruption of the word "Mikan", which is a Japanese citrus fruit. Fittingly, her Quirk is like Mitsuki Bakugou's Quirk, in that she can secrete oils. However, Mikai's variation allows her to embed her citrus oils within anything, mostly food she makes for her husband and adopted son. Speaking of such, I had decided to make Mikai and Mitsuki first cousins after giving Mikai the citrus oils Quirk, mostly due to the nature of their skin oil quirks being too similar. However, Gohan and Mineta are not related, even if their Quirks are similar in ability.
