Before I start, I should apologize for the longer than usual wait time. I got a bit burnt out rewriting the Stain Chapter to make it more unique from Canon MHA, and I want to sketch out a proper cover for this crack crossover. That and I had realized that this Fanfic is kinda like Dragon Ball Evolution, which is honestly pretty hilarious to think about. It's fucking Geeku (or Ukog), but instead of attending a boring American High School, he's attending a Japanese Hero High School. As well, I may have gone too heavy handed with the Goku-Momo interactions. In the Sacred Saiyan videos, it kinda just starts out with Goku immediately taking a liking to Momo, and that truly bugged the Hell out of me, since I'd imagine Goku being a bit more dense on love, not to DBS levels of dense, of course. So I kinda course-corrected hard to give them more interactions more based on Goku feeling some hidden potential within her, but it may have achieved the opposite effect. At the end of it all, I did enjoy writing this out, and trying to add my own spin to this scenario.
-Chapter 8: The Festival to End The Olympics-
-The Calm Before the Thunderstorm-
Today's the biggest day of UA, and of Japan. Actually, not even just Japan. The entire Quirk World had anticipated this event, as it was its own variation of the Olympics.
"What happened at the USJ, as unfortunate as it was, was only the beginning of what you'll experience." Aizawa had almost fully recovered, though his head is still a bit bandaged up.
"What do you mean 'only the beginning'?!" Mineta said, freaked out of his mind. Despite the two weeks, the USJ Incident was still fresh in Mineta's mind, though the classmates near him simply looked half in pity and annoyance. Mina, internally, could sympathize even with her perverted peer's fears, but she was more focused on Aizawa's bandages.
"Today is the Sports Festival," Aizawa said. The entire class sans Momo realized why there were so many people gathering at UA. Rather slowly, but they know now.
"Sports Festival?! Time flew by fast!" The chass parroted, mostly the louder ones.
"Quiet. Yes, today is the Sports Festival, where you are to demonstrate your Quirks to your future employers and co-workers." Aizawa dryly explained. Despite the order of silence, much of the body can barely contain their excitement as he sighs in resignation.
"Right, some of the biggest Heroes and Agencies have scouts to look for any potential Heroes based on their results in the Festival," Momo said plainly. Inwardly, she was nervous, even slightly a bit pessimistic at her chances, but she will do her absolute best to make sure the world can see her at work.
"You will go to the Sports Festival Stadium after breakfast, and give it your best shot. You will all be on camera," he says, before he leaves, 1-A scrambling to get to the cafeteria.
The Pre-Festival Breakfast starts, as Goku decides to sit next to Momo instead of Midoriya. He had a lot of plates of food in his arms.
"Hmm, why are you sitting next to me, Son? Aren't you going to sit next to Midoriya and Uraraka?" Momo asked.
"What, and miss out on what you have to offer? How absurd!" Goku replied. "So, how has your training been?" This question makes her nervous, as she faces away from him, knowing how powerful the Saiyan is. He starts devouring the breakfasts by the plateful.
"I-I might not be powerful enough to face down a Nomu, even with All Might, but I've been taking Karate classes to augment my Quirk with your techniques, reinvigorating myself with some old kung fu lessons I had taken years ago, alongside with studying up with my books!" This reply makes him very happy, this answer and that smile dispelling the lingering nervousness, as he swallowed.
"Oh man! I can't wait to fight you at the Sports Festival!" His giddiness for fighting will never not be charming. Though maybe he could go without eating so much. Eh, what can you do, I have a pretty large appetite myself, she thought.
"Yeah... How have you been training?" She said, a bit curious about what he's been doing.
"Meditating, mostly! Principal Nezu suggested I do that so I can further balance myself." Goku replied, the response causing her to smile. He did indeed find some peace between two weeks ago and today, and she feels that he can be trusted.
"Son Goku, I might have been recommended by my parents to be a part of UA's Hero Course, but I want to be a Hero because it feels good to help people! My Quirk, Creation, might not be as flashy as Bakugou's or Midoriya's, but I believe that it'll be a force to be reckoned with," she said, a little embarrassed about being outspoken, but firm in her affirmation.
"Nice! I wanted to be a Hero to make it up for my parents and Yokoi!" He replied in kind. "He helped me when I needed it the most when I was a kid, and I feel like I owe it to him, but especially to my parents, to become a Hero!"
"That is certainly a noble reason to be a Hero!" She looks at the exit, and sees it's blocked by a large crowd. "Uh oh, they must have heard about our class fighting off Villains at the USJ and decided now's the time to block the exit again, or it's Bakugou taunting them... Knowing our luck, it's likely both," Momo mused. Goku gets up to see the crowd up close.
"Get out of our way, you cannon fodder!" An infuriated Bakugou shouts, as the crowd of students simply jeered him on, some outright taunting him.
"Bakugou-kun, do not call other students cannon fodder!" Tenya timidly tells the blonde haired bomber, for as little as that'll do to stop him. The crowd murmurs, but the one to step up is a purple haired kid from General Education.
"Hmph, so you're the class that fought at USJ." He speaks. The way he glares is eerily similar to Aizawa's.
"Yeah, so what of it you purple-haired extra?!" the blonde boy hurled an insult, the purple haired kid barely paying attention to the insult as he simply glared.
"You're just a bigger obstacle that'll take a harder fall when we meet at the Sports Festival. There are many of us in General Studies that have been snubbed from joining the Hero Course. But if we do well enough in the Festival, we can join. And the opposite is true: you do poorly and you'll be forced in General Studies," He then focuses on Goku. "Especially you, Son Goku."
"Eh?" Goku replied, only to seize up. He stands still, looking vacant!
"The name is Hitoshi Shinsou, and I will make sure you fall especially hard," Shinsou challenged as he left. Todoroki slapped the back of Goku's head to knock him back to.
"Apologies, Son Goku. However, I do not want you to be vacant, for I am also declaring my intentions to defeat you in the Festival." The students have departed from the cafeteria exit, as they start to pile through to go to the Stadium. Goku and his friends follow.
-The Sports Festival Part 1: Obstacles-
"HELLO, Ladies and Gentlemen, and welcome to the Year One Division of THE UA SPORTS FESTIVAAAAAAAL!" Present Mic yells out, the crowd roaring into a fire of applause. Underneath, all the Students that are participating are dressed in their gym outfits. Some of them stretching, many of them preparing for whatever will go on.
"Goku, are you ready to go? I won't go easy on you, you know!" Midoriya said.
"Hehehe, I was gonna ask the same thing, Midoriya!" Goku chuckled in a kind of challenging way, though less of a declaration of war and more like a competitive game.
"The first bunch of students to come out, tenacious in their fights against Villains not to long ago... IS CLASS! 1A!" Present Mic booms, the students gather to a rectangle, where beyond one of the boundaries is a raised stage as the audience cheers loudly. "Next up is the Sister Class, the duo classes are the pairs of dragons! It's CLASS! 1B!" The Sister Class appears, with cheering still blowing the winds away, though slightly not as much as 1A had, to a blonde boy's arrogant rage. "However, I will be remissed if I didn't say that Generals have some major Dark Horses, some potentially able to battle with the best that the First Years Heroes have to offer! Come on out, CLASSES 1C, 1D, and 1E!" The Gen Eds came out, and the crowd was outright deafening with its silence compared to the Hero Courses. Shinsou looked at the crowd with indignation. "And now, support! These three classes show that just because you don't have an overwhelming Quirk, it doesn't mean you can't be your own Hero! Wheel out, CLASSES 1F, 1G, and 1H!" Support came out, a few wearing support gear, lead by a pink-haired girl who was acting like a Face in a professional wrestling show. "Finally, we have the Business Savvy! These are the tycoons that could make or break your image with a few words and pictures! Give it up for CLASSES 1I, 1J, and 1K!" The business kids came out, though they were mostly uninterested in the Sports Festival. They glanced around at Classes A-H, guessing internally who'd be the winner. "Our First-Year Stage of this Festival is brought to you by our lovely announcer, the R-Rated Heroine, MIDNIIIIIIIIIIGHT!" Mic yells again, with the Hero bringing out a small whip.
"As you all know, almost every event is randomized..." Midnight states, as she walks back and forth, explaining the little nuances of the Festival.
"Is it appropriate for her to make such an important speech in that attire?" the bird-headed kid, Tokoyami, said in a confused matter, unable to hide a blush.
"I don't care, she's hot!" Mineta popped off rather stressed, and it's definitely not because of the USJ Incident.
"Shut it!" She cracks her whip, causing the body to be quiet. "Right, as customary, we shall have a representative speak the Athlete's Oath. And that someone will be Class 1-A's own Son Goku!" There was thunderous applause, as Goku felt pale, he slowly goes to the podium, next to Midnight.
"Alright..." Goku said quietly as he breathes in and breathes out. "Since the first day of school, I got to see so many cool Quirks from my classmates alone! However, this isn't just about Class 1-A, it's about every class standing here, ready for anything that this Festival can throw at them and then some! With that spoken, I really hope you all be yourselves and give it your all! Go Beyond, Plus Ultra!" Goku said into the mic. There was some cheering, mostly from Class 1-A and some of 1-B, while those like Monoma booed at him. The audience, obviously, ate it up, repeating the Plus Ultra part a split second after Goku said it.
"A pretty basic, but inspiring speech! With that out of the way, our first event shall beeee..." Midnight waits, the panel shows the words "Obstacle Course!"
"This: the Obstacle Course! It's a four kilometer race around the outer perimeter of this stadium!" Midnight announced, the crowd getting whipped into a frenzy. A gate to their side opens up, and all the kids looked towards the opened gates.
"Racers, on your marks..." The R-Rated Heroine says. Goku feels especially large excitement, as the first part of the Festival is about to get underway.
"Get set...!" She says with anticipation, with the other students he sees sweating.
"START!" she yells, the kids running out.
However, there was a massive problem. The Starting Gate is much too narrow for the massive body to go through! Not only that, but Todoroki, being the first out of the gate, froze the ground behind him, catching many of the contestants in its cold grip. However, Goku was able to avoid the freezing floors by jumping, and a punch at his location destroyed the ice encasing his competitors' feet, as his classmates are only a few feet behind him, running towards Todoroki. If it started badly, it only got worse for the runners, as Minoru, who was so far surprisingly nimble and accurate with his Pop-Off balls, got smacked back quite a ways by a giant arm. There are no less than Five Zero Point Robots blocking the way, maybe even more, as they hear an army's worth of clanking closing in!
"It's not an obstacle course without obstacles! The first barrier our Heroes-to-Be must face is: THE ROBO-INFERNO!" Mic yelled.
"Yeesh, that's a lot of those Zero Pointers!" Goku said, though internally, he wasn't stressed out about it. The other classes felt intimidated seeing these giant behemoths, with an army of smaller bots starting to converge on their position! However, to 1B and especially to 1A, these robots aren't all that dangerous at the moment. The rush of bots are a bigger problem than these titanic golems.
"They're nothing to my Ice. They aren't even threatening." Shoto said softly, as a single upward swipe caused a glacial wall to completely encase one of the Zero Point Robots, allowing himself safe passage before it collapsed by its own weight, seemingly crushing two of the racers, one of them being a 1A and the other a 1B student, as Goku looked on in object horror, before rage boiled over.
"Todoroki... You...!" Goku said quietly in barely kept in rage, before leaping up to the air and yelling as he punches one of the Zero Point Robots clean in the face, the giant robot falling and malfunctioning as it head, sheared off its neck, sailed a fair bit away, clearly enraged as he start to run, but his anger was quickly snapped out by Bakugou and two other 1A kids climbing and dismantling one of the other Zero Pointers, Kirishima and a steel-covered kid bickering as they freed themselves from the iced Zero-Pointer, remarking on their fortune it wasn't anyone else, before being shocked as one of them was fell by Momo with an artillery cannon! However, unfortunately for the Creation Girl, Minoru was recovering, and seeing Momo this far back gave him an idea. And she will be his horse to lead him to victory!
"That must be that 'Creation' Quirk she's talking about earlier!" Goku thinks, as he starts to run. Bakugou looks at Goku with fury.
"You, Scarface, and especially Deku are nothing but extras compared to me!" Bakugou said in anger, starting to use his explosive hands to further the gap between him and Goku, and to close the gap between him and Todoroki. Goku feels his competitive spirit and starts to run harder. However, he soon felt himself right in the middle of a large pit and he started to fall!
"Ooh, tough luck for Son Goku! He's fallen into the second barrier: The Fall! What a Pity! That should mean he's out of the running! ...Right?" Present Mic said, Aizawa simply pinched his nose in annoyance. Partially because Goku was foolish to run into the pit, and partially because his gut instincts were telling him that his commentating buddy was too early to declare the student out.
"Tch, idiot," Bakugou said to himself as he used his Quirk to grenade jump from platform to platform. However, the students who started to approach the Second Barrier noticed something strange. That kid who ran face first into The Pits was starting to fly. Uraraka in particular was shocked.
"Whoops, that was my bad! Hey, Uraraka, thanks for the inspiration!" Goku said. All Uraraka can really do is chuckle and give him a thumbs up as he lands on the platform near the start.
"Go Plus Ultra, Goku-kun!" Uraraka yelled, as Asui and the other students start to get across the ropes.
"UNPRECEDENTED! Did my eyes just deceive me or did Son Goku fly out of The Fall to continue? In my opinion, I think he should have been called out, but regardless, is there nothing this Monkey King can't do?!" Mic clamors on. Aizawa looked on, a bit shocked. Of course, Goku had said that he could manipulate his own energy however he wants, but he thought it'd be more of that blue orb stuff, not flying! And yet, it seemed similar to another power he saw with another student.
"Hey, Aizawa?" Mic popped his thought bubble. "What do you think, is Son out?"
"I don't think so. Son never fell to the very bottom and he flew out. And the same can be said of Sero and others like him. So him flying out technically means he didn't fall out," Aizawa answered, a bit dry as usual.
"Looks like it's a one-one! Midnight, as the Tie-Breaker Vote, should Son Goku continue on?!" Mic had put Midnight on the spot. Of course, she had already made up her mind, though she heard out the crowd, clamoring. Drama's always so fun to manipulate. The Business kids gets a good lesson on giving the audience what they want.
"Son Goku should stay in!" "I agree, Son shouldn't be out just because he flew out of the pit!" "Keep Son in!" "He didn't touch the bottom, so he's still in for all I care!"
"The crowd and I have came to the same conclusion... I'LL ALLOW SON GOKU TO STAY IN!" she declared. The crowd roars in excitement.
"FAIR ENOUGH! SON GOKU IS STILL IN THE RACE, FOLKS!" Mic declared officially.
"Goku is quite the innovator, ribbit," the frog girl said to herself, as she sees Goku instead leaping from platform to platform after flying onto the first platform, since she noticed that he seemed slow with flying, maybe about ten meters per second compared to his running speed, but not without noticing his leaps do seem to use some instance of flight, just enough so that he won't fall out again. Soon, he disappears from view as she continues on the ropes, alongside everyone else as a girl with a lot of gadgets on her person uses her machines to leap over the large gaps, alongside a kid with tape dispensers on his elbows. However, to her surprise, she sees Midoriya also running and spotting something... off about him. He's weakly glowing but only for a few seconds as it looks like, and he's carrying something on his back! Actually, was he faster, too...?
The two forerunners are neck and neck. They pass the Second Barrier without any problems. However, Todoroki was still ahead when they came up to the final barrier: The Afghan Carpet.
"These mines are not dangerous, but with the boom they blast, they might as well be like the real thing! You'll certainly need a change of pants after this!" Present Mic sang as the two leads get through onto the Carpet.
"Hey, Half n' Half! You think you're stronger than me just because you're the son of the Number 2 Hero?!" Bakugou shot at Todoroki.
"No. I am stronger than my father, without even using his tainted flames," Todoroki spoke, his icy eye glaring at his opponent.
"Don't forget about me!" a chipper voice said, as a mightly landfall lightly startles the two, Goku had finally caught up to them and is now close behind. He could nimbly leap between the mines, gentle as a cat to not set them off.
"Grr... It's the monkey!" Bakugou shouted, as he readies himself to tackle him.
"Hmm, it's that fool from the beginning..." Todoroki says to himself, preparing to freeze Goku in place, though not far behind are the other students. But what happened next, no one could have anticipated.
There was a devastating explosion from behind, and the three forerunners turned around to see a flying piece of metal, but more than that, Midoriya was flying on the metal plate.
"DEKU! GET THE HELL BACK HERE!" Bakugou roared in absolute fury.
Despite his explosions propelling him faster, Todoroki's ice and Goku's natural speed allowed the three to stay in a deadlock, but Midoriya slammed the plate down onto the ground, the ground clicks, as another large explosion propelled Midoriya, launching the two boys, but allowing Goku to leap past. However, thanks to their Quirks, they were able to right themselves, now it was a real race of four.
"WHAT A DAZZLING PERFORMANCE AND A BRILLIANT STRATEGY BY IZUKU MIDORIYA!" Present Mic said, as he eyeballs the finish gate. Aizawa simply grinned, actually a bit prideful on the ingenuity of this problem child. "The first person to cross the line was none other than..."
"IZUKU MIDORIYA!" Present Mic shouted, the crowd roaring in cheers. "WITH A LOFTY SECOND PLACE GOING TO SON GOKU!" Goku panting as he looks to Midoriya, giggling a little bit as he gives a thumbs up to him.
"That was amazing, Midoriya!" Goku said in excitement, panting a little.
"THIRD BELONGS TO SHOTO TODOROKI, FOURTH TO KATSUKI BAKUGOU! There'll be some time before others will come, so give these four runners a thunderous applause!" Mic commanded, and the audience did so. Shoto and Katsuki glared at the highest placers, but there's still more events to come, and more opportunities for them to come out on top in their own separate ways.
"Your strength and speed really were amazing, Son!" Midoriya returned the compliment.
As the other kids ran in, Uraraka and Tenya ran to Midoriya, they were both proud of the two for finishing first and second.
"That was really amazing, Deku-kun! And YOU!" she pokes her finger into Goku's chest in a pouty kind of way. "You owe me one for the flight, Goku-kun!"
"Hey, it's not my fault your Gravity Quirk is so good!" Goku jokes back, chuckling while Uraraka giggles a little at the compliment.
The group watches as more kids poured in. What could Event 2 hold for them, they do not know. Deep down, however, Goku's competitive blood starts coming back, while Midoriya wants to show the world his Full Cowl. Two powerful students with an entire mountain in front of them, they are determined to go beyond their limits, and to live up to the school motto of Plus Ultra.
AN: As for why the who crowd thing and the Breakfast exists only on the day of the festival? Honestly, that's just me forgetting that the crowd accosted 1A the day they're back at UA and me inserting a more American High School thing into the fray. In American High Schools, you can actually have some school breakfast if you didn't have time to make yourself breakfast. And to be fair, I could easily imagine a place like UA having a breakfast before the Festival, especially with students in canon like Sato and Momo. Finally, my headcanon voice for Present Mic is kinda based on Ted Louis, the Announcer from the Pokemon Stadium games.
