Their weekend was lovely, it always felt like that when they were together. Just as they had agreed, Adam called his aunt the following morning to tell her that they wanted to put an offer on the house. Esther was thrilled to hear that because she really wanted them to have it. It was the perfect property for a young couple to start their own family and she was filled with pride to see her nephew ready to settle down.
Kim had some calls to make as well. Cathleen was extremely happy to hear the news, she knew that she wanted Kim to be part of her team and she was sure that Burgess had everything needed to take that role.
The brunette received an email shortly after the phone call with her principal ended, with a detailed schedule of the workshops and courses she needed to take. Everything seemed to be super interesting, which fascinated her even more and with every second she was more convinced of the decision she had made.
Her friends and family were very supportive of her, showing joy and excitement for her new job opportunity. Sylvie was beyond thrilled and was quick to hug her friend and express what she was feeling.
"Oh my Gosh, Kim! I knew it! I knew you were going to have a role like this at some point. I am so proud of you!" The blonde was holding on to her friend very tight.
"Thank you Syl!" Kim replied smiling.
"Are you happy?"
"I am. I'm also scared, but I really want to try. I mean, worst case scenario I'm back in the classroom and I love being there, so…"
Kim was interrupted by her friend who completed her sentence.
"It's a win - win situation. Totally worth trying."
Although they had a very productive start of the week, it reached a point where it started to get frustrating for both of them.
They had not received an answer from the owners of the house, and although Aunt Esther tried to reassure them telling them that this was much more normal than they thought, they were starting to lose hope. That and the fact that they were barely seeing each other was turning a bit irritating.
The unit had caught a pretty big case that got Adam and the rest of the team working insane hours. Having Dante and Tess was helpful but it wasn't the same as having Jay and Hailey in the team and that was pissing Adam off, especially because he still didn't like Tess' work ethics. Half of the times she was in charge of something they just had to clean up after her maling all of them waste valuable time.
Kim, on the other hand, was taking advantage of her time off to take some of the online workshops Cathleen had asked her too. They kept her entertained, but she still missed her man.
The only contact they have had was at night when he finally got off work and slipped into her bed, with her already asleep, to spend the night together. Most of the time he had to be back in the district so early the following morning that he didn't even get to see Kim awake, so he had to settle with feeling her breath against his neck, when she instinctively turned and ticked herself to his side as soon as his body hit the mattress.
He would always leave a note for her, together with freshly brewed coffee, some juice neatly served in a glass and whatever he had made for breakfast, which never failed to leave Kim smiling.
She shut her computer and looked at her phone. It had been already a week since she last interacted personally with Adam and she couldn't take it anymore. Kim had finally gotten her plane tickets emailed to her. Her flight to Maryland was set for the following week and she was tired of communicating via voice notes, messages or quick calls; and even though it was a long shot she wanted to try to see him, even for a couple of minutes.
She got up, put on a long summer skirt with white sneakers and a white tank top. Her hair was up in a ponytail, leaving two strands of hair framing her face. She knew that Adam liked it like that and she wanted to look good for her man.
After checking herself in the mirror one last time, she grabbed her bag and her keys and left the apartment.
The traffic surprised her, it was pretty light and it allowed her to get to the district in record time.
As soon as she walked up the stairs she went to the front desk. She hadn't been there forever and was a bit nervous to show up and just ask for him.
"Good afternoon." Kim said softly.
"Kim?"
The brunette nodded.
"It's Trudy Platt, do you remember me?" The sergeant asked carefully. She was well aware that her and Adam were back together, but she wasn't sure if Kim remembered absolutely everything.
"Of course I do. I was afraid you wouldn't remember me."
"Oh come on. How could I forget you? Boy wonder talks about you all the time. I assume you're here to see him."
"Yes. Um, I don't know if he's available or not, he didn't know I was going to come."
"Ok, let's check." Platt picked up her phone and asked for Adam. Just then Kim heard the gate open and she immediately turned around to see if it was him coming down the stairs, but it wasn't. Instead she saw a dirty blonde woman approaching the desk. She had hazel eyes and a fierce and arrogant look on her face.
"Who is asking for Detective Ruzek?" She asked an officer that was standing relatively close to Platt, but Kim didn't give him any time to answer.
"I am." The brunette replied confidently as Trudy slowly put the phone down to observe the interaction between both women.
"Oh. He's extremely busy. I doubt he can assist you today. You can give me your name and I let him know someone came to see him."
"Excuse me, who are you?" Kim was doing her best to sound polite, but her face was showing otherwise and Platt was enjoying the show.
"I'm Officer Tess Saunders, Intelligence Unit."
"Oh. I see. You can tell Detective Ruzek that Ms. Burgess was here to see him." The brunette gave Tess a fake smile and turned to look at Platt who was looking pretty amused.
"Kim, Adam will be here in a second."
"Thanks Trudy." She called her by her first name on purpose. Kim wanted Tess to know that she wasn't just someone who wanted to give information about a case.
"And you, Saunders." Trudy called out. "If I ever need a secretary I will make the formal request and who knows, maybe you can get the job. Until then, you stay away from my desk and its business." She almost growled at the officer who was now leaving the precinct and Kim was smiling in her insides.
"I'm here boss, what am I good for?" The familiar voice made the butterflies flutter in Kim's stomach as Adam started to come down the stairs.
"Huh, not much really. But you have visitors."
"Hey you." The brunette said smiling.
"Belle." His smile was wider than ever and was doing its best to hide the tiredness on his face. "What a lovely surprise." He was quick to hug her by the waist and peck her lips sweetly. "Is everything ok? You look beautiful by the way."
"Aw, thank you. Yeah, everything's fine. I just wanted to see you and decided to stop by and maybe take you to lunch if you have time, of course."
Adam just kept smiling. "We were about to grab a bite, so yeah I'm free for the next thirty minutes. Let me tell Kev."
Kim nodded and as soon as Adam put his phone away he entwined his fingers with hers.
"Let's go."
They walked out of the district and straight to Kim's car.
"I'm sorry I just came out of the blue, but I missed you babe."
"Hey, you never have to apologize for that. I genuinely love the fact that you're here. I missed you too. This week has been practically hell and I was growing tired of not seeing each other awake." They both laughed. "So thanks for coming." He closed the distance between them and kissed her properly. "So, where do you want to eat?"
"Anywhere we can do that without people looking at us weirdly."
Adam chuckled and took the keys she was handing him.
"You've got it."
They got some drinks and sandwiches and went to a park to have a picnic, just like they used to do when they started dating.
"So, I met Tess today." Kim stated before taking a bite of her sandwich.
"Agh." He rolled his eyes. "Comments?"
"I don't think Trudy likes her."
"No one does." Kim looked at him trying to hide her laughter but she totally failed. "See, you don't like her either."
"I don't know her."
"Come on. Out with it."
"Ok, fine. She didn't come across as the friendly type."
"That's because she's not." He took a sip of his soda before he continued to speak. "Anyway, I don't want to spend the few minutes we have together talking about her."
"Fair enough." She got closer to him and kissed his cheek, not being able to control herself. If it were up to her she would be jumping on him right now. "How was your day so far?"
"Tiring, but productive. If everything goes as planned this should be closed shortly."
"That's good."
"Yeah. Can't wait." He placed his hand on her thigh and slowly moved it up and down. "How was yours?"
"It was fine. I finished one of the workshops I was doing."
"You're so smart." He said before stamping his lips on hers.
"Thank you detective." She cleared her throat and kept looking at him. "I also got my tickets to Maryland today."
"Already?" Kim nodded to his question. "When are you leaving?"
"Next week."
"I'm gonna miss you Belle."
"Me too."
"But I'm extremely proud of you."
"Thank you babe. I'm proud of you too."
"Do you have the plate ticket back, as well?"
"Yeah."
"So how long will I have to wait to see you again?" He asked her pouting, making her laugh.
"Two weeks."
"What? How I'm I going to survive that long?"
"Video call?" She suggested as he started to wiggle his brows. "We're not gonna have phone sex Adam." She rolled her eyes, although the idea sounded tempting.
"I don't know. That glimmer in your eyes says something else." He teased and she blushed. He knew her so well.
"Shut up." She playfully hit his shoulder before playing with the collar of his denim shirt. "Any news about the house?"
"Nope. Nothing. I guess we have to keep waiting. You know, Aunt Esther…"
"Yeah, I know. She said it was normal for this to happen. That they were probably waiting for other offers. I just get a bit impatient, that's all."
"Me too. But I have a good feeling about this. Good things take time." He sighed and threw his arm over her shoulders pulling her closer to him. "You'll see." He kissed the top of her head before the buzzing of his phone interrupted the moment.
He pulled it out of his pocket and typed an answer back.
"Everything alright?" She asked, a bit worried.
"Perfect. Voight asked me to be back in thirty more minutes so we have some extra time. What do you want to do?"
She looked at him mischievously and reached up to his ear to whisper to it.
Adam shot his head back and looked at her surprised. "Really?"
She nodded and immediately stood up holding her hand out for him to hold it and he didn't hesitate, she pulled him up and they both went to her car.
It was Kim the one who drove because she knew exactly where they were going. After a few minutes she parked in an alley and opened the door to get out. "Come. Follow me." She looked thrilled and excited like a teenager who was cutting class and her energy and spirit was catching up to Adam who almost jumped out of the car, running behind his girlfriend.
Kim started walking into an empty lot, Adam had been there before a couple of times for work and he knew that the place was desolated but he didn't know the door that Kim had just opened.
"How do you know this place and I don't?"
The brunette shrugged. "I guess you didn't know about my bad girl side." She said, acting mysteriously.
"Please tell me more."
"I used to come here when I was a teenager. We had a beer with my friends when we were supposed to be studying for midterms."
"Wow. My little trouble maker, who would have thought you had such a dirty past. I might need to cuff you up for that, you know?"
"Maybe that's exactly why I brought you here." She got closer to him and started to unbutton his shirt without further ado.
"Kim." He said softly.
"What?" Her hands were on his chest, slowly running them up to his shoulders to slide the piece of clothing off his arms, while Adam didn't offer any resistance.
"Here?" The idea of having her in that spot was a serious turn on, and while he knew she had a wild side, he didn't want to push too much.
"Why not?" She asked before peppering his chest with soft kisses. "I miss you." She went back up and lightly sucked on his neck before whispering into his ear. "I miss having sex with you. Don't you?"
"You have no idea how much."
"Then let's not take this moment for granted." She let out, brushing her lips against his ear before biting gently on the lobe. She knew that was his soft spot and just like she had expected that was enough to set him off.
He had missed her, having her, just as much as she did and as much as he always wanted to respect her and make her feel loved, it was totally wild for him when Kim expressed how much she wanted him.
He held her face with both hands and devoured her lips as he started to walk with her, pressing her back against a wall. He slowly started to kiss her jawline until he reached her neck and spent his sweet time there.
"Are you sure you want this?"
"Hell yes." She moaned. Feeling Adam's hand tight on her bum was driving her crazy, but after her affirmation, his hands traveled north and pulled up her top. He was surprised to find that she wasn't wearing a bra. Had she planned this all along?
His kisses went quickly to her chest. They didn't have much time and he wanted to make sure they were making the best out of it.
His lips were playing with her niple while one of his hands was kneading the other breast, making her heartbeat pick up speed.
Kim was on cloud nine, enjoying every kiss and every touch. A week without sex wasn't much, but it felt like a lifetime for them and she didn't want to have to wait any longer.
She didn't even try to silence her moaning, instead she went straight to his jeans and did her best to unzip them and pull them down along with his boxers.
The brunette loved it when Adam took initiative and she just enjoyed him getting lost in her body, but she also liked being in control and showing him that she still wanted him as bad as the first day.
Once his boxers and pants were up to his knees, she slowly turned around, her back to his chest.
Adam was quick to start kissing the crook of her neck as both his hands cupped and massaged her breasts.
Kim took it to herself to raise her skirt up and slide her thong down as far as she could.
By the movements she was making, he knew exactly what she was doing. That was when his left hand abandoned her chest and slowly slid between her legs.
His index and middle fingers were the first to feel her moisture, which allowed them to glide freely between her folds.
"Oh, babe." She purred, arousing him even more, motivating him to gently spread her legs a little which she took as a cue and instinctively leaned forward, telling him that she was ready and she wanted it as much as he did.
With a few more kisses on her neck and shoulder blades he slipped in her, enjoying the contact and the magic of becoming one.
And as their movements became more erratic, they were able to fulfill all their desires.
