The day had started well for Aguilar. He hoped he had managed to help his protégé by speaking with the school principal to reduce the bullying Izuku faced, and if they didn't, he was ready to bring down the full force of his legal team.
His plan was to take him to the United States once the school year ended. Izuku would learn English and be able to recover. He wouldn't have any trouble getting into a good school, especially with the recommendation Aguilar planned to give him.
But that would have to wait for now. First, he needed to ensure Izuku's safety. He had asked Ramirez to stop by Izuku's school to bring him to the office and ask how his idea had gone.
The phone in his office rang. He wasn't expecting a call, but when he saw the number, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
— Sir, Izuku... he's in bad shape. We're heading to the hospital right now. I'll send you the location in a moment — was all he heard before the call ended abruptly.
...
Aguilar wondered why life seemed determined to kick Izuku whenever it could, literally seeing an innocent child receiving all of life's garbage.
He was already at the hospital and had part of his legal team ready to take action against the school. All they needed was Izuku's statement, and that would take some time.
Yes, the boy had several broken bones, mainly in his arms and legs. Somehow, he managed to avoid severe head or spinal injuries, sparing him from paralysis or even death.
Shortly after, the Yaoyorozu family arrived, mainly because of Momo's concern. She hadn't heard from Izuku for a few hours, which was unusual as they had become good friends and talked constantly.
When he didn't let her know he was home as they had agreed for studying economics together, Momo couldn't help but feel something was wrong, and as the hours passed, that feeling grew.
She felt even worse when she learned from her father that Izuku was in the hospital due to an incident at school. What more did the boy who saved her have to endure?
Hours later, Mr. Aguilar received the news that he could see the boy. Meanwhile, he found a tutor for Izuku, Sasaki Mirai, whom he recognized as a Pro-Hero and sidekick of All Might.
He then entered the room where Izuku was, encountering a dismal scene. The boy had a mask supplying him with oxygen, and both his arms and legs were entirely bandaged.
His skin tone was a bit pale, indicating he had a hemorrhage, and who knows how much time had passed before he was found. Aguilar sighed involuntarily as he left the room.
— How is the young man, sir? — Ramirez asked as he saw Aguilar exit.
— Not very well. Tell me what happened — Aguilar responded while leaning against the wall, wiping his forehead with a handkerchief.
— When I went to look for young Izuku and didn't see him anywhere, I decided to enter the school. When I saw him, he was on the ground, with fractures and some blood, completely unconscious, and no one paying attention to him. That's when I hurried to call emergency services and then you —
Aguilar rubbed his forehead with visible frustration as Mr. Yaoyorozu approached and placed a hand on his shoulder.
— Do you think Izuku will be okay? — Mr. Yaoyorozu asked with noticeable concern.
— Physically... I'm sure he'll recover. Psychologically, I'm not sure how this might affect him — Aguilar replied.
Momo approached the adults visibly saddened — Dad, Izuku is going to be okay, right? — she asked, a tear rolling down her cheek.
Her father stroked her head — I'm sure he will, sweetheart. I know you'd like to see him, but I don't think now is a good time, right? — he asked, looking at Aguilar.
— Yes, it's best to wait a few days until he recovers more and is awake to talk with him —
She nodded slowly and hugged her father.
A tall man entered the waiting room, looking for Aguilar until he found him.
— Are you Mr. Aguilar? — the newcomer asked.
— Yes, I am. Are you Mr. Sasaki? —
— Yes, I am. Thank you so much for informing me of what happened to Izuku — he responded and immediately bowed in reverence.
— No need to worry. He told me about you and how you've taken care of him at times, so I felt it was necessary to inform you. Now the important thing is for him to recover and then investigate what happened —
— Thank you —
— We're leaving now. We'll come back tomorrow to check on Izuku — said Mr. Yaoyorozu — Have a good night, see you — he bowed and left with his daughter and wife.
...
The next day, Mr. Aguilar and NightEye went to Izuku's school to demand explanations from the principal.
Upon arrival, they asked if there was a camera recording what happened, but the principal denied it.
However, when they went to the second floor, they found marks where a camera might have been placed, so with this suspicion, they returned to the principal.
— You say there was no camera, but we just saw a spot where it looks like a camera was there. What's your explanation? — Aguilar interrogated.
The principal immediately became nervous and didn't know how to explain it.
— Well, there was one, but it recently malfunctioned, and the recordings couldn't be recovered, so it was removed —
— Uh-huh... Well, just to inform you that as soon as Izuku recovers, we will sue you and the school. We don't understand how it's possible for a student to go through this —
...
Two more days passed until Izuku woke up, in pain and disoriented about where he was.
As he slowly opened his eyes, he saw black hair resting slightly against his bed.
— Y-Yaoyorozu-San? — he asked, somewhat confused.
— Midoriya-Kun?! I'm so glad you're awake — she said, hugging him and pressing a button for the nurses to come.
— U-ugh... W-what happened to me? —
— You fell from a height of over 3 meters, young man. You suffered several fractures and have been unconscious for three days. Normally, it would take you months to recover, but it seems your guardians have arranged help from Recovery Girl, so once you've eaten enough and don't feel tired, she will come to heal you — a doctor who entered shortly after explained.
Izuku froze for a few seconds and then lowered his head — Why? — he said in a small whisper — Why does this happen to me? —
Aguilar entered just after and remained silent, noting the sadness emanating from Izuku, deciding not to pressure him at the moment as he needed rest — How does he look, doctor? —
— He looks good. Within a few days with Recovery Girl's treatment, he should fully recover, though right now we need to monitor him for severe headaches or any other aftereffects —
— You heard that, boy. We'll let you rest for now. Young Momo, can you stay with him a bit longer? — Aguilar asked.
— No problem, Mr. Aguilar — Momo replied cheerfully.
The doctor and Aguilar left the room, discussing expenses while Izuku remained downcast, starting to cry.
— Midoriya... — Momo said, approaching Izuku and holding his arm — We're here for you. You'll be okay —
— T-thanks — he said, closing his eyes — I wish they were here —
— W-who? — Momo asked.
— My parents —
An awkward silence ensued as Momo pondered the right words to say.
— But you have other people who care about you, Mr. Aguilar, my parents... even me... — she responded, blushing slightly at the end.
— Thanks, Yaoyorozu-Chan — Izuku said, blushing as well — I'm a bit hungry — he whispered, being heard by Momo.
— I'll be right back — she said, going to find a nurse.
Fifteen minutes passed as Izuku finally became fully aware of everything that had happened — 'Bakugo nearly killed me' — was what he thought. It was clear, that the shout he heard before falling was his — 'Does he realize what he almost did?' —
Tears slid down his cheek without him realizing until Momo re-entered and approached with a small handkerchief and placed it in front of him.
— W-what's going on? — Izuku asked, confused by the handkerchief in front of him.
— Are you okay? You're crying — Momo replied.
— Ah... Oh... No, I was just... thinking —
Momo immediately wiped his cheek with the handkerchief — Are you sure? —
Izuku felt embarrassed seeing the handkerchief wet with his tears — S-sorry! —
— Don't worry, I'd be concerned if you didn't cry after what happened — Momo responded — My mother always says that crying is good when bad things happen —
Izuku looked at Momo as she finished drying his tears — Where did you go? — he asked.
Before he could get an answer, a nurse entered the room with a food cart for Izuku.
— Here you go, young man, something light to ensure you're okay and have no internal issues —
— Thank you so much — Izuku responded.
— Now... How am I going to eat? — Izuku whispered, looking at his arms.
Hearing him, Momo picked up the spoon — I can help you, if you'd like... —
— It would help a lot if you did — Izuku replied, still nervous.
...
Izuku was opening his eyes; it was already a new morning. Fatigue circulated throughout his body, and pain still coursed through almost entirely.
He was alone. Last night, after an embarrassing moment of being fed by Momo, the Yaoyorozu family had left for home with the promise to return.
His teacher had entered through the door, accompanied by a bent old woman who walked with a cane.
—Izuku, it's good to see you awake. This here is Recovery Girl. She will help us with your treatment to heal your fractures.
—Good morning, Izuku. I'm Recovery Girl, UA's head doctor. It's a pleasure to meet you.
—G-g-good morning — responded Izuku, completely nervous about being near someone from UA — Midoriya Yagi Izuku, pleased to meet you, Recovery Girl.
—Good boy. Can you tell me how you got your injuries? — asked Recovery Girl, somewhat concerned by the report she received upon arriving at the hospital.
—I don't remember much... I was walking on the second floor of my school, I heard a shout, and then I remember seeing the floor in front of me.
—Poor boy... But don't worry, with my treatment, you'll be up in no time, although you will feel very tired. So no need to worry, okay?
Izuku nodded, and immediately Recovery Girl gave him a kiss on the forehead. Within minutes, he was completely asleep while his fractures and other wounds healed.
—Thank you for that, Recovery Girl — Aguilar thanked her.
—No need to thank me, he's a good boy. Although it's unfortunate what happened to him. What will you do about his school?
—We are already preparing the case to take it to court. I also spoke with one of his guardians. They will get permission for me to be his guardian for about 4-5 years. I will take him to the United States so he can grow and prepare in a better way than here — replied Aguilar.
—Who was the guardian you contacted?
—The professional hero Sir NightEye — Aguilar responded.
—I suppose you already realized you are not dealing with just any child — said Recovery Girl.
—I knew that from the beginning, but why do you say that exactly?
Recovery Girl signaled to leave the room, and Aguilar followed her.
—Because Izuku is the son of All Might and Minesis.
—Wait, is that true? He always told me his parents worked as office workers in Tokyo.
—Then it's likely he doesn't know — responded Recovery Girl, putting a hand to her head. —This will cause many problems for them. It's like a snowball waiting to fall, and when it does, they will probably lose the parent-child relationship they have.
—I know they are heroes and all, but that doesn't absolve them of their responsibilities to their son. He wouldn't be here if they were more attentive — Aguilar said.
—I know, I also feel disappointed, but we can't tell him. They have to be honest with him; otherwise, we'll be stepping into a place where we don't belong.
...
Izuku slept soundly that night, without anything bothering him. Although, to his bad luck, the fatigue he felt the next morning was beyond normal.
He slowly opened his eyes, the light filtering directly onto his face.
—Oh dear, you're awake — the kind old woman's voice greeted him. —Your fractures should be healed now, but we'll do a check-up so we can discharge you.
—Good morning, Recovery Girl-San. Even though I slept a lot, I feel completely exhausted. Is that normal? — Izuku asked, shaking off a bit of sleep.
—Of course, it's normal, dear. It's the effect of my quirk. Take this — she placed a tray with food in front of him. —After breakfast, take these pills. They're vitamins. I recommend taking them for 15 days, one every morning.
—Thank you very much, Recovery Girl-San.
—No need to thank me, little one. It was a pleasure to help you — Recovery Girl said her goodbyes.
Mr. Aguilar was entering at that moment.
—Thank you very much. Please tell Nezu that whenever he needs any product, he can contact me, and I will do my best to supply it.
—Don't worry, I'll let him know, Aguilar-San. I'm going to discuss with the doctors to discharge Izuku, so he should be free in a few hours — she disappeared from their sight.
—What do you think about studying in the United States until you enter UA, Izuku?
—What? — responded Izuku, unable to believe it.
—Yes, studying in the United States until you have to enter UA. I know it's what you want most, and it would help you a lot.
—But... What about the language and school?
—I'll get you an English teacher, and after that, a certificate of your studies and some tests they will give you, and you'll be able to study there.
—Okay... How long will that take?
...
One month. That's how long it took to make the preparations for the trip, with Izuku taking some basic English classes and Tanaka being assigned as his assistant, getting a promotion in the company.
He is currently in a private hangar, along with Aguilar and assistant Ramirez, as well as his own assistant Tanaka. The Yaoyorozu family also accompanied them to see them off.
—Izuku-Kun, I made this for you so you can remember me — Momo nervously approached, hiding something in her hands.
—What is it, Momo-Chan? — Izuku took the object Momo was hiding with curiosity.
