When I woke up, the sun was already up. I'm an early morning riser, even before I reincarnated. Rubbing off the sleepiness from my eyes, I realized I had fallen asleep on my desk, which was now covered in drool. My eyes then landed back on the papers spread out all over the table.
Each had a list of names for characters that I could, in theory, work with in terms of personality. Most of the protagonists, especially the loud ones, were put on the maybe list. I also made a list for the villains under the category 'anti-villains', villains who follow a set of rules or code.
Each name my eyes landed on was tempting, like Rimuru, Saitama, Sung Jin Woo, Jin Mori, Han Daewi, Sasuke, Flash, Superman, Batman, Scathac, Mama Raiko, Tiamat, Morded, etc.
I sighed as I ruffled my hair in frustration at trying to figure out which one I should summon first. I didn't want to summon something that was too OP. Well, mostly world-breaking OP, just enough to solo the verse I'm in. But I also want someone who can jump in between dimensions or at least something I can benefit from.
I slouched back in my chair, rubbing my temples as I stared at the damn list. Every character was a gamble, and I couldn't afford to screw this up. The thought of wasting a precious summoning slot made my stomach churn.
But I couldn't just sit there twiddling my thumbs forever. I had to start somewhere, even if it meant summoning someone expendable just to test the waters. It was time to put my theory to the test.
I got off my chair and went to my closet to get dressed in civilian clothes. A green shirt, a short, and crocs. What? Too casual? Meh.
Dragging myself out of my dorm, I trudged my way to my usual summoning spot. It took me about ten minutes to get to that place since it was surrounded by a barrier provided by the Jujutsu High to stop people from wandering into my spot for their safety. I surveyed the area, making sure everything was just right. I don't trust the barriers they made, considering that those curse spirits and users were able to bypass them. When I was satisfied, I began the chant, the words rolling off my tongue like second nature.
"With these hands, I summon forth,
Lord of storms and lightning, The shadow,
The traitor, Incarnation of Indra."
A moon materialized before me, its colors shifting in the morning light. Starting from bloody red to eerie purple with multiple rings and three tomoes. I took a deep breath as I mentally prepared myself before completing the summoning ritual.
"Uchiha Sasuke."
And then, the moon shatters like glass before its shards take on human shape until Uchiha Sasuke stands in front of me, looking like he just stepped out of a ninja war. But there was something different about him, something that screamed "pre-Boruto but post-Toneri."
Maybe because of his pancho and missing arms.
Before I could even open my mouth to greet him, he vanished, reappearing behind me faster than I could say "hi." His katana was pressed against my neck so fast it made my head spin.
"Who are you? Where are we?" he demanded, his voice like ice cutting through the air. "And how did you summon me?"
I held up my hands in surrender, trying to keep my cool despite the blade at my throat. "Whoa, easy there. No need for violence," I said, trying to look past him without giving away my nervousness. "Why don't you put down the sword before it gets any more dangerous?"
My eyes went past behind him and Sasuke glanced over his shoulder, his eyes narrowing at the sight of my Shikigami standing behind him. Hakumen Toji and Asta had their blades out, aiming for his vitals. Magito was in his 'Asura' mode, with two of his arms holding the transfigured humans while the remaining four were ready to stop the blade from slitting my neck.
"What are those things?" he asked, keeping his gaze locked on me.
"My shikigamis, now are we going to play nice or not? Because frankly, I just want to explain what happened if you just let me," I said with every calm I could muster.
Sasuke seemed to be contemplating; not that I blame him, though. The dude is infamous back in his homeland so it wasn't a surprise for me if the guy decided on keeping his sword near my neck. But surprisingly, he backed off, taking the blade off my shoulder and gave me a glare. His guard was still up but he was willing to listen now, at least.
"Talk," he demanded while flaring his chakra a bit.
I swallowed hard, feeling the pressure mounting with each passing second. I introduced myself as Kazuya Akiyama, explaining that I was just testing out my unique abilities. "Long story short, I'm testing out a new summoning technique," I explained, trying to keep it vague enough to avoid any more questions. I need my aces after all. While I'm confident that I can probably last a second against this Sasuke, I'm not cocky enough to think I can beat him. At least not for now.
Sasuke's eyebrow arched skeptically. "Summoning me across dimensions? That's a new one," he muttered, more to himself than to me.
I shrugged, trying to play it cool even though my heart was pounding like never before in my chest. "Yeah, well, it's not like I had a choice with this one," I said with a nervous chuckle.
But Sasuke wasn't buying it. He could sense something was up, and he wasn't about to let me off the hook that easily.
"So, what's the catch?" he asked, his eyes narrowing as he studied me.
I hesitated for a moment, debating whether I should reveal the price. But then I figured, What the heck? I might as well lay this card on the table.
"The catch is, if I beat you in a fight, I get all your abilities," I said with a grin, trying to sound way more confident than I actually felt.
Sasuke's brow furrowed in wariness. I could see it in his eyes; this man was going to kill but he seemed to be content with listening to me for now. "And since you haven't attacked, you have something else in mind?" he asked, keeping his katana at the ready.
"Kind of." I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves as I laid out my proposal. "I want to make a deal with you," I said, trying to sound as confident as possible. "An exchange of abilities and skills."
Sasuke's eyes narrowed even further, his suspicion practically oozing off him. "And what makes you think I'd agree to something like that?" he asked, his tone dripping with skepticism.
I don't blame him for his suspicion since he's a Shinobi, and I'm damn sure the guy had to deal with people who wanted his blood or eyes. This wasn't news to him.
I shrugged, trying to play it cool despite the sweat forming on my brow. "Well, I don't really have a choice, do I?" I said, trying to sound more confident than I felt. "If you say no, I'd just send you back and summon someone else. Maybe someone like Obito, Madara, or Itachi."
As I continued to list the names of who I would summon, Sasuke fell silent, his gaze boring into me as he weighed his options. While it was certainly giving him alarms, the fact remains that I chose to summon him first because he was the least villainous and probably has the most benefit in this situation.
Sasuke wasn't buying it, though; his grip on the katana was tightening. "And what's in it for me? Why should I trust you?" he growled, his gaze piercing into mine.
I swallowed hard, racking my brain for a convincing argument. "Like I said, if we make a deal, I'd be getting your abilities and skills. In exchange, you'd get mine as well."
Sasuke fell silent, his gaze boring into me as he weighed his options. I held my breath, praying to whatever gods were listening that he would agree. After what felt like an eternity, he finally spoke, his voice laced with caution. "I highly doubt you have anything I might need."
I could tell he was still on the fence, so I decided to sweeten the deal a bit. "Tell you what, why don't you summon a shadow clone, and I'll show you a couple of my tricks?" I suggested, trying to sound as casual as possible.
Sasuke hesitated for a moment, but then he nodded, a hint of curiosity flickering in his eyes. "Fine," he said, his tone wary.
I grinned, feeling a surge of excitement coursing through my veins. Sasuke summoned his clone, and I couldn't help but stop my arms from shaking in nervousness. I had to choose the right Shikigami for this demonstration. After a quick mental debate, I settled on All-Black Asta before fusing with my Shikigami, making me slightly resemble Ichigo in his true bankai. Sasuke raised an eyebrow at the sight of my summons; I could practically feel his curiosity radiating off him. The fact that he's using his sharingan already gave me the idea that he's trying to figure out how my summoning works.
"That's not chakra," Sasuke said.
"Yep, it's curse energy; its just like chakra but without the risk of dying when used up," I said before receiving the typical Sasuke response of 'Hn'.
"Alright, attack me with a jutsu," I instructed the clone, eager to showcase Asta's abilities to Sasuke.
The clone wasted no time, launching a fire jutsu in my direction. I slightly winced as I felt the intense heat coming from the attack. I'd better deal with these before the fire starts spreading. With a swift motion, I sliced through the flames effortlessly, dispelling the jutsu with a single stroke.
Sasuke's eyes widened in surprise, his Sharingan catching something I hadn't even noticed. "You didn't just cut through the jutsu," he observed. "You severed... no, its more like you've erased the chakra used to create it."
"Correct." I grinned, feeling a surge of pride at his observation. "Pretty neat trick, right?" I said, trying to sound nonchalant.
Sasuke nodded, his expression thoughtful as he processed what he had just witnessed. "So, your summons can cancel Jutsus," he mused, his gaze flickering back to me.
I nodded, confirming his suspicions. "Not just Jutsus," I said, holding out my hand to demonstrate. "Anything that has a supernatural phenomenon within an 8-foot range of me loses its energy. I can spread it to make a barrier or minimize it into an invisible armor."
Sasuke's clone vanished at my touch, the effects of Asta's ability taking hold almost instantly. Sasuke raised an eyebrow, impressed, despite himself. "Interesting," he said, his tone tinged with curiosity. "But what good is it if the enemy is out of range?"
"You're right; in a fight, this trick wouldn't mean much if your enemy is a range fighter," I said with confidence. "Which is where Asta's second ability comes in? Hit me with another one."
Sasuke complied but this time it was some wind jutsu, probably an air bullet. I got into a battering stance and swung my sword like it was baseball. I felt something collide with the blade before it was sent flying in a different direction.
"Absorb and reflect," I said, unable to hide a bit of cockiness as I grinned. Hanging around with a guy who's got a habit of showing off will rub off on you, I tell you that. "I can absorb and reflect any range attack. Or..."
Suddenly, a dark and red thread of energy appeared between us before I appeared in front of Sasuke, 1 foot away, in a blink. "Use it as a shortcut to close the distance," I finished.
I can see that Sasuke was already making countermeasures behind Asta's ability. Then I heard him say that I was holding something else and he was kind of right.
"My people have a certain technique that only a select few can use. Not everyone can use it, including myself since I still haven't fully mastered my ability but unlike them, I found a way to cheat around the problem.
I stabbed the sword into the ground and Sasuke's eyes widened while I uttered two words. "Domain Expansion..."
Swords, axes, haliberds, spears, hammers, guns—every weapon humanity has created throughout history has started to manifest one by one. While the ground beneath us was slowly drenched in a sew of darkness,.
"Abyss of the Demon-Dweller Purging Catastrophe," I uttered as the domain finished itself. Its mouthful but I'm not complaining. I watched as Sasuke collapsed to his knees, exhausted. Oops, I should have warned the guy first.
"What is this?" Sasuke struggled to say.
"Domain expansion... Basically, I'm expanding my innate domain using cursed energy and constructing it within a separate space, enclosed by a barrier. I then infuse my or Asta's cursed technique into the barrier, which allows me to deploy their ability throughout the domain," I explained.
I was just parroting Gojo's explanation, okay!? I didn't pay much attention to his lectures since the guy speaks like a math wizard whenever he gets into any curse-energy-related topic.
"In this case, I'm just manifesting Asta's Domain as my own. The domain casts an eclipse over the area, erasing the presence of supernatural energy and creating a sanctuary where only physical combat is possible aside from me, giving me a significant advantage. And any cursed technique activated within it is instantly nullified and absorbed, strengthening the domain's effect." I paused when I realized Sasuke was getting up.
Sasuke frowned as I finished explaining. "So it's a dead zone for anything that has a supernatural-based ability. It's even more fatal if the entity's life force is based around the said energy," he summarized, making me nod in confirmation.
"And the best part?" I said, swinging my sword to the right, only to watch as a tree on my left exploded into splinters. "The sure-hit effect."
Sasuke's frown deepened as he realized the implications of my ability. "What's stopping me from leaving the domain?" he asked, his tone serious.
I shrugged, knowing full well the answer to that question. "You can run," I said simply. "But the domain's range is 1 km, and the anti-chakra effect is instant the moment I start the domain expansion. Escape is near impossible. The only way you can beat a domain expansion is either with an outside force or having a better domain expansion than the enemy."
Sasuke's expression darkened as he realized the gravity of the situation. "I see," he said quietly, his gaze flickering to his own hands. "I did notice I couldn't access my chakra despite your 'Domain' still undergoing its process."
I smirked, feeling a sense of satisfaction at his admission. But before I could respond, Sasuke summoned an imperfect Susano, testing the effects of Asta's domain on his own abilities as he threw Susano's massive fist towards me. Without a second, my domain did its job as Susano's spectral form dwindled in size and shape almost immediately but the shockwave disoriented me enough to undo my domain.
The hell!? Did he literally just brute force his way out?
"But it seems this domain only deals with supernatural energy; it also takes time when handling anything massive," Sasuke remarked as his Susano finally vanished due to the domain's effect. "You still need to deal with the physical force behind it."
Huh? I didn't think he'd figured out the domain's glaring weakness. Guess that's a war veteran for you; they're a different breed of fighters. Especially a prodigy. It's true that Asta's domain nullifies supernatural energies in an instant. I still need to deal with the effects of the attack. While Susano's form had been nullified, the sheer brute force it unleashed was still there. Since it was a physical effect, the domain is powerless to deal with it.
For example, if Jogo used his meteor attack, my domain would nullify his fire but the rock he created was made of raw materials, something not created by curse energy; therefore, my domain is unable to nullify it even if it wanted to.
Sasuke's expression then grew serious, his Sharingan blazing with intensity. But I could see the wheels turning in his head, plotting his next question.
"Why do you need my power when your Shikigami alone could handle any potential threat?" he asked, his eyes boring into mine, searching for an answer.
Sasuke's question hit me like a ton of bricks, knocking the wind out of me. I let out a heavy sigh, scratching the back of my head as I tried to gather my thoughts. "Look, there's a freaking war that's about to start," I began, frustration bubbling up inside me like a volcano ready to erupt. "And no one's going to believe me if I start blabbering about it. So, I'm out here trying to gather as much firepower as I can to protect my sorry excuse of a teacher and friends."
I paused for a moment, contemplating my own words. Friends? More like acquaintances; I barely even know them at all. Aside from what I knew in the manga,. It's my fault that I barely interact with them. But that's beside the point. "Plus," I continued, trying to sound more confident than I felt, "I'm kind of curious about my own abilities. Like, how far can I push this curse thing of mine?"
Sasuke's expression remained stoic, his gaze unwavering as he demanded the truth. I cursed silently under my breath, knowing I couldn't hide behind half-truths, especially this one. "Alright, fine," I grumbled, feeling the frustration building up inside me. "I also don't want to deal with any crap. I'm not some master strategist, okay? This isn't my forte. Frankly, I would have been sitting on my couch if I didn't know about this."
I could feel the anger boiling beneath the surface as I continued, my voice rising with each word. "And the enemy I'm up against has been pulling the strings for centuries, just because he's bored and wants something new. He's willing to start a freaking war in the name of progress."
Honestly, I would have left if I had a chance but considering the fact that I'm a freaking beacon for curses, it left me with a few options that I didn't like. And I'm not optimistic to think that my arrival here didn't attract Kenjaku. I'm willing to make a bet that Kenjaku already knows about me and my abilities.
I clenched my fists, my frustration threatening to consume me. I don't want to end up like Geto. "All I want is some peace and quiet," I practically yelled, my voice echoing into the empty space around us. "But instead, I'm stuck dealing with a nutjob."
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm raging inside me. "I'm sorry," I muttered, feeling the weight of my words hanging in the air. "I've been bottling this up for so long that I can't help but freak out when someone asks me why I want power."
Staring at Sasuke, I then answered his question. "Why do I want power? Because power controls everything. Without it, I can't protect anything, let alone myself."
Sasuke stayed silent, his expression unreadable as he processed everything I had just spilled out. I could see the wheels turning in his head as he tried to make sense of it all.
Finally, he spoke, his voice softer than before, laced with concern. "How long do you have left before this war starts?" he asked, his eyes searching mine for the truth.
I scoffed, bitterness tainting my tone. "I don't know," I shot back, frustration seeping into every word. "A few months maybe? I have zero clues about when this guy is going to start his war. Though I do know it's already starting since one of my classmates is already a jinchuriki of something."
Sasuke's frown deepened, his gaze flickering with uncertainty. And for the first time since we met, I could see a glimmer of understanding in his eyes. Maybe, just maybe, he was starting to get it. "So, how do I summon one of these Shikigamis?" he asked, his tone surprisingly gentle.
Sasuke's sympathetic glance caught me off guard, and I blinked, surprised by his sudden change in demeanor. "So, you're actually considering making a pact with me?" I asked, a hint of disbelief in my voice.
Sasuke shook his head, his expression serious. "Let's not mistake this for generosity," he said firmly. "I see a benefit in this partnership. I'm willing to make a deal with you to protect someone I care about."
I couldn't help but chuckle at his blunt honesty, immediately recognizing who he was referring to. "I understand," I said with a smirk, nodding in understanding. "My sensei can be a bit of a loudmouth. Scratch that, the guy is way too loud."
Sasuke's lips twitched in a hint of a smile before he shifted back to business. "Alright, so how do I summon your Shikigami?" he asked, his gaze focused on me.
I scratched my head, pondering the predicament. "Well, you're going to need an arm to summon mine," I explained, realizing the limitation posed by Sasuke's missing limb.
Sasuke's brow furrowed in frustration, but then a spark of realization lit up in my eyes. "What if I use Susano's left arm as a substitute?" I suggested, a hint of hope in my voice.
He raised an eyebrow, considering my idea. "Hmm, it's worth a shot," I said, nodding in agreement. "But I'm not sure if Susano works that way."
I shrugged. "Well, let's find out," I said.
Sasuke hummed and concentrated on summoning Susano's left arm and gradually decreasing its size until it resembled a human arm.
"It's a bit challenging, but I can handle it," he remarked, a hint of pride in his voice.
I grinned, feeling a surge of excitement at the prospect of teaching Sasuke the summoning ritual. "Alright, let's give it a try," I said eagerly, gesturing for him to follow my lead. "Repeat after me. With these treasures..."
It took a while for Sasuke to successfully summon my Shikigami but both of us were surprised to see a copy of Asta instead of switching masters. So, I guess that means I won't be losing my meatshield if Sasuke ever uses one of my shikigamis. But I was more surprised when Sasuke mentioned somehow learning the names of my other two shikigamis and the incantations to summon them.
I could say the same; the moment Sasuke agreed to form a contract with me, I've been slowly gaining instructions on how to use his abilities. I could already use the sharingan, like I had it my whole life. This could mean I don't have to fuse with him to use his abilities and run the risk of being overwhelmed by his ego (persona).
Determined to try out my newfound skills, I decided to attempt a fire jutsu. With a few hand signs and a shout of "Katon: Fireball Jutsu," I launched a fiery projectile into the sky.
But before I could celebrate my success, I felt a searing pain in my mouth, and I started running around in circles, frantically screaming about my mouth being on fire.
Sasuke sprang into action, extinguishing the flames with a well-aimed stream of water. "Are you alright?" he asked, concern etched on his face.
I panted heavily, feeling a bit embarrassed by my blunder. "Yeah, but what the hell was that?" I admitted sheepishly.
"Your body isn't used to chakra properties," he noted, his eyes narrowing as he assessed the situation.
I nodded in agreement, realizing the truth in his words. "Makes sense; curse energy is different from chakra," I admitted. "But hey, at least I can still use some of your jutsu without causing too much damage, right?"
Sasuke nodded, seemingly satisfied with my explanation. "Your body will adapt with time," he said reassuringly. "Just take it slow."
I nodded before getting an idea of how to fix the problem. Using Magito, I transfigured my palms to have mouths like Deidara. Which is frustratingly weird for me but I digress. Since I didn't want to risk transforming my body too much, this was the best I could come up with. I made another set of hand seals and released a stream of fire from the mouths of my palms. This time, it didn't hurt at all.
"I guess that works," Sasuke muttered.
As our training session came to a close, I couldn't help but feel grateful for Sasuke's aid in adding more arsenal to my abilities. "Thanks for all your help, Sasuke," I said, sincerity lacing my words.
Sasuke nodded, a sense of camaraderie forming between us. "Hn," he replied, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
With a nod of appreciation, I undid the technique, watching as Sasuke transformed into a dark liquid before fading away. As I stood there, pondering who I should summon next, a sensation hit me.
The slot that Sasuke took up was free again. What the hell? I thought my curse summons were permanent. No... Don't tell me that I made a mistake. But Gojo told me that...
Realizing my stupidity. I went to the nearest tree and banged my head repeatedly until it broke. "GOJO, I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" I screamed in anger, realizing my teacher had pranked me for 10 years without me realizing it.
I then heard my Gojo cackling, which only pissed me off even more. "HAKUMEN!" I ordered my loyal samurai.
AN: Hey there, awesome readers! As always, thanks for reading this story. This chapter was a real pain to figure out. After much thought, I finally settled on a character for our MC to summon. I wanted someone who wasn't overpowered but could still hold their own in the JJK verse. It was a tough call, but I think you'll dig where we're headed! I'm all ears for your thoughts! Slide into my DMs with your ideas on which female characters with that instructor vibe you'd like to see summoned next.
Also, I'm planning for the MC to summon Ainz, or rather only his avatar so that I can explore the MC's abilities a bit more and flesh them out.
Joshua: Someone who wouldn't exactly destroy the entire world in one shot or attack the MC for no reason when he summons them. As for his reasons for keeping Mahito alive, the reason is indeed the canon—not the canon story but more like who Mahito affected the most. I'll explain this more in the next few chapters. Also, what do you think of the Mc finding a loophole in summoning? I'm planning on having Ainz's game avatar summoned next.
