Feed started.

The video feed shows a large metal sphere looming in the background, surrounded by several human statues, frozen in mid-action. One statue appears to be a security guard inspecting their gun. In the foreground, a male Inkling, clad in a helmet and body armor, is seen tugging at the weapon, while a female Octoling with red tentacle hair stands nearby, visibly anxious.

"Why won't this statue let go of the weapon? I'm going to pull harder," the Inkling grumbles, straining against the statue's grip.

"Don't! We could break it," the Octoling warns, her voice tinged with concern.

"But if we can pry this weird blaster out of its hand and sell it to the Shellendorf Institute, we could be rich!" he argues, his eyes gleaming with greed.

"We don't want to damage the statue," she insists, her tone firm.

"This could be our most profitable find yet!" the Inkling continues, his focus solely on the potential payday.

"So that's all you care about? Profit?" she snaps, a mix of disappointment and frustration in her voice. "I should have known you were in this for the money, Jefferson."

"Most of the others are too. Why is this so surprising to you? You know research isn't everything, right?"

"We're talking about a dead species! Of course, the research is everything. We could bring them back!" the Octoling pleads, her passion for discovery shining through.

"And how do you expect to do that, Ms. 'I Know How to Extract DNA from Stone Sculptures'? Even if we did, they'd be clueless, just like us," Jefferson retorts, a skeptical smirk on his face.

"At least we'd know what they looked like!" she counters, her determination unshaken.

"Forget it, Amy. You won't bring them back."

"We can at least try," Amy mutters, her resolve undeterred.

No more motion detected. Feed ending…

Started this a couple of years ago as part of a Garry's Mod screenshot series with little stories attached, but they never really went anywhere. Decided to revisit it and develop the story further.
