Gods! Why can't this be easier, like grabbing a magic bagel or something? Jack ducked behind a pillar the museum had on display as the entire boat flew towards him. In this dangerous life, he encountered many challenges, like the Giant War and the Roman Emperors. But this ridiculous stuff was getting annoying. That day of all days, he was given a quest to find a vase that his father had misplaced. He tracked the vase down to a museum where some monsters dressed as security guards had gathered together. Some he recognized from the last few significant things, but some he didn't recognize, like some sort of weapon-headed monsters and some humans.

He had overheard them before the intrusion, talking about how they could feel it like 'A needle picking at the back of their necks.' That was when the intruder had arrived, messing everything up.

"You can't hide, demigod!" The thing hissed; Jack peaked out to see it again. It was hanging around the ceiling, crawling everywhere. It was covered in fuzz, long horns, and deformed-looking wings; he also may have spotted a metallic leg in the mix.

"I'm going to kill you like the way you did to those monsters!" Jack called back out. The creature scuttled along the ceiling towards the vase.

"Luckily for you, my master requires this vase!" That's not right!

"Aren't you supposed to try and kill me like every other monster?" Jack got up and began sprinting for the vase.

"Oh..." what came next almost sounded like a laugh, but some garbbled that he couldn't understand. "I and the many scholars before me have seen the truth, foolish child. Death is not the proper answer!" It dropped from the ceiling, making a thunderous landing, dust filling the air. He pulled out his celestial bronze spear and made a thrust towards it.

SCREEECH!

Jack tried to pull the spear back but could feel it wrangle like a fishing pole. The dust cleared, letting Jack see a crater and where his spear had hit. His spear had a shish kabab in the chest. However, it was still standing tall as a pillar.

No! This can't be!

The beast grabbed the shaft of Jack's spear, pulling Jack towards the monster: "This world is one my master will enjoy-" Jack scrambled, pulling out an imperial gold dagger the Mercury kids had let him borrow and stabbed the beast in the side of its head. "AHHHHHHHHHH!"

The form of the beast began shrinking, black dust spewing everywhere, making him think he was in the middle of an active volcano. Once it stopped, another odd thing occurred... The monster's body not turning into monster dust.

What the heck!? It was hard not to ask questions, but he decided to put what was important first before investigating. He turned back to where the vase was and saw something even worse. A hunched-over misty creature was looming over the vase. Long claws had begun to envelop it, consuming the vase's pictures like they hungered.

A smooth, deep yet cold voice came over him: "He was right about one thing... I will enjoy it."

Jack pulled out his spear and ran towards the mist creature, tip ready to penetrate.

"I cannot allow you to ruin what is to come!" Jack's feet felt submerged, almost like water had risen to his waist, yet there was no wet feeling. He couldn't breathe... HE COULDN'T breathe! His arms scrambled for anything he could grab onto, but nothing every time. Everything was fading to black; he was going to die.

This is it, then...
