Totally Spies: Clover's Totally Fabulous Birthday
Chapter 10
After Clover and Daisy got out of the warehouse, they ran a good distance away from it until they were out on the street.
"So… what do we do now?" Daisy said as she struggled to catch her breath.
"Well, I better call Jerr so he can have Dean bring some backup," Clover said aloud.
Clover took out her compowder. She pressed the call button before a hologram of Jerry appeared.
"Ah, Clover, did you rescue Daisy?" Jerry inquired.
"Yes," Clover said with a nod. "I managed to bring her to safety. Sam, Alex and the others should be taking care of the baddies in the warehouse, but we'll need you to get here right away so you can throw them in jail."
"Ah, say no more," Jerry responded. "Me and Dean will be over there with backup right away."
Clover smiled, "Thanks, Jerr. Oh, in other news, our mystery baddie is apparently a relative of Geraldine. And her name is Grace."
"Oh?" Jerry said with a raised eyebrow. "Interesting turnabout. We'll look into this as soon as we come to arrest her."
Clover nodded, "Great."
Clover shut the compowder off and put it in her pocket.
"Hey, Clover…" Daisy got Clover's attention. "I just wanted to say you were really awesome in there. And thanks for saving me."
Clover smiled, "No problem, Daisy. I wasn't gonna let those baddies mess with my sister on my birthday."
"Yeah, you were so cool," Daisy said in amazement. "The way you and your friends were fighting those bad guys like that… and that bungee belt… Not to mention, I really like that cool spy outfit you're wearing."
Clover looked down at her red spy uniform before she posed with it.
"Thanks, Daisy," Clover said in appreciation. "You know, I actually designed this suit myself."
"You did?" Daisy said in amazement. "Well, I guess that's not a surprise given that you're studying to be a fashion designer."
"Sure am," Clover responded.
"I mean, seriously, Clover, I knew this secret agent stuff sounded cool when you told me about it, but seeing you do it up close…" Daisy said in amazement. "You're amazing!"
"Aw, thanks, little sis, that is so sweet!" Clover said, appreciating her little sister's compliments. "But I can't really take all the credit. Sam and Alex and I have always worked as a team."
"I know," Daisy said with a nod. "You and your friends are really good at this stuff."
Clover suddenly noticed a solemn expression on Daisy's face.
"Is something wrong, Daisy?" Clover asked with a concerned expression.
"Well… I just wanted to say… I'm sorry," Daisy said. "You were right. I mean, all this spy stuff you do goes beyond having simple karate skills. It's just… you make it look so easy."
"Heh, trust me…" Clover responded. "Learning to be spies was no cakewalk for us either. It still isn't sometimes."
"I know…" Daisy said in acknowledgement. "But still, it kinda makes me wish I knew more about… being a spy like you do."
Clover raised an eyebrow, "Oh, really? Are you trying to say you wish you were a spy like us?"
Daisy hesitated at first, "Yeah… I guess I kinda am."
Clover was amazed at this. It sounded like Daisy actually wanted to try learning to be a spy herself. Then she remembered something Jerry had said a little while back.
"Actually, since we're on the subject, I think there's something you should know, Daisy," Clover spoke up.
"What is it, Clover?" Daisy asked curiously.
Clover learned to whisper as she spoke, "Well, between you and me, I think Jerry was interested in…"
All of a sudden, before Clover could finish, she felt herself being hit with a volt of electricity before she cried out and was knocked to the floor.
"Clover!" Daisy cried out in distress.
"Hehehe, sorry to ruin such a sweet family moment," Grace's voice was heard.
Daisy then noticed Grace stepping toward them with a laser gun gadget in her arms.
"But you didn't actually expect me to let you beat me that easily, now did you?" Grace spoke with a smirk.
Daisy snarled, "What did you do to Clover?!"
"Oh, don't worry," Grace continued speaking. "I had my laser gadget on stun when I shot Clover with it. After all, I still need to present her to my aunt when I free her. I'll deal with her pals soon enough, but first I'd better deal with you."
Meanwhile, Sam, Alex, Britney, Blaine and Stella had defeated the last of Grace's goons in the warehouse.
"Well, looks like all the baddies are down for the count," Alex spoke up.
"And as of now, Clover should be getting Daisy to safety and calling Jerr for backup," Sam said aloud.
Blaine looked around and noticed something strange.
"Uh, guys, I don't see Grace anywhere," Blaine said in a nervous tone.
"Yeah, you're right," Sam spoke.
"But where could she have gone," Britney wondered aloud.
"Guess she must have thrown in the towel and flown the coop," Stella guessed.
"Or she could be going after Clover and Daisy!" Alex suddenly realized.
"Yeah, you're probably right, Alex. We gotta go help them now!" Sam added.
Grace continued to step toward Daisy as she got into a fighting stance.
"I may not be a spy, but can still defend myself," Daisy pointed out.
Grace chuckled, "Oh, please… You could barely take on Mandy when she was a brainwashed spy-sassin. But don't worry, I don't really need to destroy you. You're much better to me alive. After all, imagine Aunt Geraldine's appreciation when I not only deliver her sworn enemy to her, but also her sworn enemy's precious little sister."
Daisy growled. She wondered how she was going to get out of this. Then all of a sudden, she was thinking of something. She then had an idea and knew that if she timed it right, it could work.
"Well, I think it's time to take care of you right now," Grace spoke. "Not that you were ever a thorn in my side anyway."
Grace prepared to fire another stun blast at Daisy. Daisy just stood there with a determined look on her face. As Grace fired another blast out of her weapon, Daisy jumped up into the air avoiding the blast and did a flip through the air right before Grace's disbelieving eyes. The next thing, Daisy came back down and gave Grace a kick straight in the face knocking her down. Daisy then landed gracefully on the ground.
"Whew," Daisy sighed with relief. "I can't believe that actually worked!"
Unfortunately for her though, Grace got back up with a snarling look on her face.
"You'll pay for that, you little insignificant microbe!" Grace shouted. "That was just a cheap shot! Now I will make you suffer beyond-"
But before Grace could finish her threat, she felt herself being hit from behind. Grace then collapsed to the ground, revealing that Clover was the one who hit her.
"You talk too much," Clover said with a smirk.
"Clover!" Daisy said happily.
Daisy ran over to her big sister and gave her a big hug.
"Daisy, that was a majorly cool jump kick!" Clover said in amazement. "And way to kick that Grace girl down for the count!"
"Thanks, Clover!" Daisy responded with a big smile.
"How did you do that anyway?" Clover asked in curiosity. "I didn't know your karate class taught you moves like that."
"They didn't," Daisy said simply. "I guess the idea for that move just… came to me."
"Hmm…" Clover started thinking. "Maybe Daisy really does have the spy gene."
"Clover! Daisy!" Sam's voice was heard.
Clover and Daisy saw Sam, Alex, Stella, Britney and Blaine running toward them.
"Are you guys alright?" Britney asked in concern.
"Where's Grace?" Blaine asked, looking around.
"Don't worry about it," Clover assured. She pointed over to the spot where Grace was lying unconscious. "Grace is out for the count."
Alex gave a thumbs up. "Nice work, Clover."
Clover chuckled, "It wasn't all me."
"It wasn't?" Stella said in confusion.
"Yeah, mom!" Clover responded. "Daisy was actually a big help."
"Really?!" Sam said in surprise.
"Yeah!" Clover said. "You should have seen this way super cool jump kick that Daisy did. Really took that little witch by surprise."
"Wow, first you were able to take on Mandy all by yourself and now Grace?!" Alex said in amazement.
"Wow, Clover, your sister is really surprising us today," Sam spoke up.
"Yeah, that sounds awesome!" Britney said in amazement.
"No kidding," Blaine added.
"Well, I wasn't gonna let that witch take Clover away, especially after the way she saved me," Daisy said simply. "And I guess that was all the motivation needed to make that move."
"Both of my little girls looking out for each other," Stella said in a choked up voice. "I'm so proud of both of you."
Stella, Clover and Daisy gathered for a touching group hug.
"Sorry to break up the touching family moment," Sam chimed in. "But is Jerry on his way yet, Clover."
Clover nodded, "Yes, he should be."
Suddenly, the sound of a helicopter was heard from the air. Clover and the others looked up to see Jerry's chopper coming.
"Speak of the devil," Clover said with a smirk.
Later, Grace was handcuffed and being escorted inside a WOOHP vehicle. Dean had arrived with them as well.
"Excellent work, agents," Jerry said with a thumbs up. "Not only did you rescue Daisy, but thanks to you we've captured a relative of Geraldine."
"Anytime, Jerry," Sam responded. "By the way, what's the situation with Mandy and her family?"
"They've been returned to Mandy's dorm room," Jerry informed the spies. "And they have no recollection of their time as spy-sassins."
"I'd still like to know how Mandy got her memories back of the first time she was a spy-sassin," Alex commented.
"Well…" Jerry started saying. "It would seem that if a person already exposed to the SUDS is infected with the SUDS again, it revives the memories of when they were first exposed to the SUDS."
"Freaky," Clover said wearily.
"Did you dig up any info on Grace?" Sam asked.
"Well, we've managed to come up with some info," Jerry explained. "It would seem that Geraldine had a brother Gregory Husk. And that he was married to a woman named Julia Henderson. And that they had a child."
"Grace," Clover guessed.
"The very one," Jerry confirmed. "Apparently, Grace's parents were lost in a fire more than seven years ago. That's all the info we could dig up unfortunately."
"Seven years ago…" Sam repeated. "That must have been sometime before we foiled Geraldine's SPI scheme."
"Do you think maybe Grace was in Geraldine's care before the first time we fought Geraldine?" Alex surmised.
"Could be…" Sam replied.
"I'm betting that this Geraldine woman wasn't a very good influence on her niece," Stella commented with her arms crossed.
"I'd have to agree with you on that," Blaine agreed.
"Well, the important thing is that now our mystery baddie has been apprehended," Jerry spoke up. "So once again, I say, excellent work, spies."
"Hey, we can't take all the credit, Jerr," Clover spoke up. She put her hands on Daisy's shoulders. "Daisy is the one who gave Grace a jump kick right in the face."
"Yes, I was just about to address that," Jerry said as he looked at Daisy in amazement. "Is it true that you were able to come up with that move on a whim all by yourself?"
"Well… yeah," Daisy responded. "I guess I was just… determined to keep Grace from taking my sister. Especially right after Clover saved me."
Clover giggled at that.
"Wow, Daisy…" Dean chimed in. "I wish I was there to see it. That must have been incredible."
Daisy giggled, "Thanks, Dean."
"Hmm… interesting," Jerry said with a look of fascination.
"Oh, why don't you just tell her, Jerr?" Clover spoke up.
"Tell me what?" Daisy said with a look of confusion.
"Yes, Clover, what do you mean?" Jerry said, feigning a look of confusion.
"Don't play dumb, Jerry. We all know exactly what you were thinking when we told you about how Daisy stood up to Mandy," Clover said with a serious face. "So why don't you just say it?"
Jerry chuckled, "Well, if you insist, Clover."
Jerry turned to Daisy, "Daisy, how would you like to train to be a WOOHP agent?"
Daisy gained a look of bewilderment, "T-train to be a WOOHP agent? You want to train me to be a spy?!"
The other spies were also surprised at this, especially Stella.
"Of course," Jerry continued. "After hearing about your remarkable bravery, I'm interested to confirm if you have the spy gene just like your sister and mother. That being said, if you don't want to be a spy, I promise that I won't use any… coercion with you like I did with Clover, Sam and Alex."
"Heh, good to know, Jerr," Clover said with a chuckle.
Daisy gave it a bit of thought before looking at her sister and mother.
"Are… are you guys ok with this?" Daisy asked hesitantly.
Daisy had been informed that Stella was not initially very supportive of Clover being a spy so she was especially concerned about how her mother would respond. She was also worried about how protective Clover might be.
But to Daisy's surprise, Stella smiled, "Go for it, honey. If me and your sister can handle being spies, then you should be able to handle it no problem."
"Yeah, Daisy," Clover chimed in. "You learning to be a spy would actually be so totally awesome!"
"Yeah, Daisy, go for it," Sam added. "It would be awesome for you to learn some spy skills."
"It certainly wasn't easy for us," Alex pointed out. "But I'm sure you could get the hang of it."
Britney, Dean and Blaine all smiled and nodded in agreement.
Daisy smiled. If her friends and family were all willing to give their support, then her answer was a total no-brainer.
She turned to Jerry and gave her answer, "I'll do it!"
Jerry smiled, "Splendid! You can commence your training tomorrow."
"Yes!" Daisy cheered. "I'm going to learn to be a spy like my mom and sister!"
"And as a bonus…" Jerry spoke again. "Since your sister and her friends are three of my best agents, they can be the ones to train you."
"Really?!" Clover said in surprise.
"Well, I don't see why not," Jerry said with a shrug. "If it's alright with you of course."
Clover smiled big time, "You got it, Jerr!"
Daisy turned to Clover, "So you, Sam and Alex are going to train me to be a spy?"
"It seems that we are," Sam said.
"Uh-huh," Alex said with a nod.
Clover squealed in excitement, "My sister is going to learn to be a spy and I'm going to train her! This is the best birthday present ever!"
Everyone else cheered and laughed.
"Well, now that this is all said and done, I believe you have a party to get to," Jerry pointed out.
"Oh, yeah, that's right," Sam spoke. "Is everything set up for the party?"
"Don't worry, Sam," Dean assured. "Everything is ready back at the penthouse for Clover's birthday party."
"Well, then what are we waiting for?!" Clover said in excitement. "To the penthouse and on the double!"
To be concluded…
