Chapter 3

Calm before the Storm

Naruto and Baelor arrived back on the castle grounds where his people were resting. His knights also erected a command tent for their Lord at the middle of the gathered army where they went straight to. Once they were inside, Naruto had Baelor call his army's commanders and dragon rider commander which they answered the call immediately and went inside and gathered at the table in the middle of the tent.

Once everyone was settled in, Naruto started, "Well done everyone in gathering what we can find. Now, I have called all of you here to discuss our next move, and I want all your opinions or inputs on what I have in mind." Looking at Baelor, he finished, "Baelor, you may start."

Baelor bowed slightly before answering, "My lord." Looking at the assembled people around the table, he started, "Commanders, Lord Naruto plans to reclaim the city of Volantis, our first colony of our fallen nation. According to Gerion Lannister's healed and freed slave, Volantis has fallen to slavery and is ruled by these so-called triarchs. Now my loyal commanders, what are your thoughts?"

One commander was about to step up to the table when Naruto raised his hands before saying, "Before we start, I would like for you all to introduce yourselves. Just a formality, if you all don't know the people beside yourselves."

The gathered commanders and dragon riders nodded before one started.

"Vaegor Aertalos, My Lord. Commander of the men at arms."

"My Lord, Aevor Aglaeris, at your service. Archmage of the battle mage battalions."

"Taevon Celtalos, Lord Naruto, Ship Master of the Valyrian Navy."

"My Lord, Tahaelyx Dalnalys, Rider of Dalax, and head of your dragon platoon."

Naruto nodded before gesturing to Taevon to speak on what was on his mind, "My Lord, taking Volantis in your name is doable. With the help of our dragon riders, they can burn any ships that will stand our way if we storm their ports, as well as their wall defenders when we land." Taevon finished.

Vaegor then stepped forward and nodded at Taevon and Tahaelyx before adding, "I agree with Taevon, Lord Naruto. Once we take the port, Tahaelyx can have his riders burn the top of the walls around Volantis for any defenses they have. My men and I, with the help of Archmage Aevor and his battle mages, will then split up to take the east and west gate of Volantis, cutting off any escape or call for help."

Aevor and Tahaelyx nodded their head in agreement of the plan before the latter added, "Then the defenses will fall. Once they are destroyed and the defenders burned to ashes, I will have our dragons circle the city and look for any trouble we can see, and with the help of our Lord's cloning ability, we can communicate with all of you where these stranglers are forming once we storm the city." The former then stepped up before continuing, "Vaegor, you have my mages. I will have my people split into two to accommodate in taking the gates and protecting your soldiers."

Vaegor nodded before the assembled commanders looked at their Lord before the latter spoke, "Good plan, people. Efficient and precise, I like it. Once we entered the city, I want everyone to look for any slavers you can find and capture them. If they resist, use force if necessary to subdue them as I will be the judge of them if they lose their heads or be spared. As for anyone who is armed, ask for their surrender. If they refuse to submit, end them. As for the triarchs, I'll bet a chest full of gold that they will be at the city's great temple. I will be leading Baelor and his knights to storm the temple and capture the triarchs for execution."

The gathered commanders nodded their heads at the formed plan before Naruto continued, "Now that we have a plan, I would like to know the exact numbers we have for our army."

The commanders nodded their heads again before Vaegor started, "For the men at arms, we have twenty thousand soldiers at your command, my Lord. Ten thousand foot soldiers, five thousand spearmen, two thousand five hundred archers, and two thousand five hundred mounted heavy cavalry."

Aevor stepped up next, "For our battle mages, we have a thousand of our numbers."

Naruto nodded before looking at Taevon, the latter nodded and said, "We have more than enough ships in store, thanks to our Lord and his abilities, to ferry our army to Volantis. A thousand war galleys, another thousand carracks, and five hundred swan ships is at yours to command, my Lord."

Lastly, Tahaelyx and Baelor stepped up last before the former started, "For the dragon riders, we have twenty of our fiercest and loyal dragons and their riders, with Dalax and four other dragons that are fully grown, my Lord. As for the dragon eggs that you store in your scrolls before the doom, a dragon's lair can be constructed with your help, once we have taken the city." Baelor then finished, "For my knights, our order has fifty strong and abled knights, ready to fight by your side my Lord."

Naruto nodded again before pondering on himself for a moment. While Baelor continued the discussion, after a few minutes of thinking, Naruto interrupted and said, "Alright, listen up. We march our forces first to Tyria and clear any obstacle we encounter in the ruined city. Once we are there, we will build a functioning port where we can unseal our ships and load up our men and supplies." Looking at Tahaelyx he ordered, "Tahaelyx, gather some of your riders. Have them fly to Tyria and scout out the city thoroughly, and once they are done, report them back to me. The remaining riders will be our scouts, as they will be our eyes and ears in the sky." Turning to Vaegor, he added, "Vaegor, ready the men. We march to Tyria."

Tahaelyx and Vaegor nodded before answering, "It will be done, my Lord." Before turning on their heels and walked out of the tent.

Looking at his remaining commanders, Naruto said, "Aevor, have the mages prepare any spells that you or your mages know that'll help in breathing through the thick volcanic smog. Shit's dangerous if you breathe in too much." Aevor bowed his head, accepting his Lord's command before walking out of the tent. Looking now to Taevon, he added, "Taevon, I'm sorry captain, but since we still have our ships sealed, help us protect our civilians with your men for now. Gather them now and prepare them for the journey."

Taevon bowed as well before saying, "It's alright, my Lord. Our people are what's left of Valyria. It is a great honor in protecting them with our lives, even if we use our land legs to see it done." Naruto nodded with a smile before the former bowed again and left the tent to carry out his orders.

Naruto then looked at the last person that was left with him and said, "Baelor, gather your knights. We will be at the front of the march." Baelor nodded before heading out as well. Naruto was about to prepare his armor when the former's head poked in from the entrance and said, "Naruto, Lord Gerion is here to see you."

Naruto nodded before Baelor's head disappeared and Gerion entered his tent. Naruto offered if Gerion wanted to sit but the latter refused, "My Lord, I have talked with my men and with my charges. They have agreed with my decision in following you. My sword and my men are at yours to command." Gerion said.

Naruto nodded before answering, "Then that's great news." He then walked to personal chest but not before asking, "What's on your mind, Gerion? You wouldn't be here if that's the only thing you will say to me."

Gerion was surprised by his statement. He is far more observant than meets the eye, "I would just want to ask, my Lord. Why trust me? I mean, telling me you're not Valyrian? Or that you have accepted me and mine to your cause? I know it was a half-baked decision coming from me in securing our survival but telling me your secrets, my Lord? With that line of thinking, you could have problems with someone wanting you dead within arm's reach if you are this trusting."

Naruto chuckled before opening his chest that housed his personal armor. Pulling pieces of his armor one by one, Naruto answered, "It's because I'm not a normal man, Gerion. Far from it actually. In time, I will tell you my story since we just met and all. But if you would like a small glimpse of what I am, just stick with us. You'll eventually put it together." Once his armor was out of the chest, Naruto started assembling it on himself, "As for how I am trusting of you, part of what I can do is I can read someone's intent or emotions. Especially if it's in the negative perspective perse. I can see through lies, deceit, plans, everything." Naruto has finished putting on his greaves, poleyn, cuisses, tasses, and continued, "So from the start, I already know of your intentions. And from what I learned about you when we spoke before in the Dragon's Hall is that you value loyalty, honesty, and family. And that's saying something based on the people I met when Valyria was still standing." Next that was put on himself was his cuirass, pauldron, and vambraces, "You were nothing but truthful to me, Gerion, so I gave you the answer you expect from one person to another, the truth." Finishing the set, Naruto picked up a cloak that the old man had made for him and put it on his shoulders, finishing the process. "As for anyone who wants to kill me. Well, I say good luck to them."

Naruto's armor was forged by himself, like the knights of Valyria. Made by using Valyrian steel, the armor was dark gray, almost appearing in black, with its signature rippled pattern also present on the armor. What made it unique was his cloak that was made with black dragon scales, courtesy of Ancalagon, and the snarling dragon and fox that was engraved on his cuirass, pauldrons, vambraces, and poleyns.

And Gerion was the first person to see the armor what his mother described to him, his brothers and sister when she read to them their favorite bedtime story that originated during the Valyrian's reign. A story about a noble man and knight with house insignia of a snarling fox and a dragon, and rides the largest and mightiest of the dragons. The knight who could decimate armies and conquer any city just by himself. The man who fought for justice and equality that changed so many lives before the doom…

"It was you… You're the man from the stories…" Gerion whispered, but Naruto heard it from where he was standing.

"What do you mean, me? And what story?" asked Naruto with a raised eyebrow.

Gerion cleared his throat before answering, "My mother used to tell me and my siblings a story. A story of a man that lived during the time when Valyria still stands. That the man was the epitome of what a knight should be and fought in the name of justice. That the man can single handedly destroy an army using his magic and can even conquer or destroy a city, with or without his dragon."

Naruto's other eyebrow shot up and asked, "Huh, and this was written in a book?"

Gerion nodded as his answer before Naruto shrugged his shoulders, neither confirming nor denying what the man had said. Naruto then proceeded gesturing for the man to follow him outside before the former found Baelor waiting for them, "Preparations are being made, my Lord. Once done, we are ready to march to Tyria." Baelor said.

Naruto nodded before ordering to pack up the tent and prepare as well. Once Gerion saw the blonde lord was alone again, the man approached him and asked, "Where are we headed?"

Naruto spared the man a glance before calling his dragon to him and said, "We march for Tyria. Then from there, we prepare for war."

Gerion stared at the blonde Lord for a moment before deducing, "You're taking Volantis for your own."

Without looking, the Lord of House Belsarion nodded his head before answering, "Yes. Too long the slavers have free reign on these lands. It's time to show them why our house was feared centuries ago." Ancalagon landed near Naruto before lowering its neck for its rider to mount it. Once Naruto was on his saddle, Naruto looked at Gerion before asking, "Any more questions, Lord Lannister?"

Gerion stared at the blonde for a moment again before answering, "How did you find our ancestral sword, let alone know the bones of King Tommen? I didn't even mention to you what it looked like."

Naruto chuckled for a second before he answered, "No Valyrian sword that any house that I know of, has a snarling lion on its pommel. As for the body, no king will ever have it stolen from him even if it is due to traitors, assassins or monsters."

Gerion could only shake his head from his answer before the blonde Lord nodded him and beckoned his dragon to fly. With its massive wings, Ancalagon flapped his wings, once, twice, and before long, the dragon and its rider were flying in the air and into the skies and disappearing through the clouds.

The lost Lannister kept his eyes locked onto the cloud that the massive dragon went into before whispering to himself, "Gods above, I the dragon is much larger than Balerion the Black Dread." Shaking his head, Gerion turned on his heels before walking back to his party and finishing his thought, "My daughter and nephew would love to see that in person, especially my nephew."

When the preparations were complete, Naruto and his army marched to Tyria without any problems in their way. A few days of slow march and the army and civilians were greeted by the abandoned and eerie city of Tyria. The dragon riders circled the abandoned city, while the men-at-arms scour the city for any dangers. Once everything was clear, Naruto had everyone converge on the once bustling market square where there was once an abundance of shops, merchants, and stores. Now, only death and destruction were left.

Once the army secured the city square, the civilians put up temporary tents for themselves to rest, while his soldiers and charges were busy scouring the city for any useful items. Naruto, on the other hand, made his way to the part of the city that was submerged in the sea. When he arrived, he was greeted by the same toxic fog when he opened the sealed cave where he and his people slept.

While looking for a larger street to use for his army to build a port, his furry partner suddenly spoke, 'Damn. The world really had gone to shit.'

Naruto was silent for a moment. Turning to another street, Naruto saw it was large enough to use before walking towards the end of the street and answered, 'They were warned that this may happen, they didn't listen. And now we are here.'

His tenant hummed low, 'And now we are here.' he parroted.

Reaching the end of the street, Naruto looked left, and then right and realized that the city was cracked in half. Half of the city of Tyria was on land, and the other half was eaten by the sea. Sighing tiredly, Naruto's hands blurred, forming the required hand seals before shouting, "Doton: Doryū Jōheki."

The jutsu did its work. Earth rose from the sea, extending the street where the earth cracked. Once completed, Naruto nodded to himself before walking back to the town square. Once he was back with his people, Naruto gathered his commanders in his war tent before starting, "Gentlemen, the port is ready," Looking to his master of ships, he added, "Ship master Taevon, once our meeting is done, prepare the ship scrolls and bring them to my clones that I have left on the port. They will start unsealing our ships and once done, load up your sailors."

The ship master nodded his head before answering, "It will be done, my Lord." Naruto nodded back before he continued, "Now, while I was taking my time in finding us a suitable place for our port, I remembered an island that's close to Volantis. It's close enough for the island to be our staging ground, as well as a temporary refuge for our people while we besiege the city." Gesturing at the map that's on the table, he pointed to the lone island that was off the coast of Volantis.

Moving near his liege lord, Taevon squinted at the aforementioned island before crossing his arm on his chest and nodding his head, "This is suitable, my Lord. Our men and civilians can rest here after our journey from here to this island. This is also a perfect place to prepare our men for the siege, as well as deter any ships going out and into Volantis."

Naruto smiled sharply and patted the man on his shoulder before he answered, "My thoughts exactly." Looking at his other commanders, he added, "Now that's established… Lord Tahaelyx," the mentioned Dragon Platoon head perked up before Naruto continued, "You and the rest of our dragon riders will follow me to this island ahead of our army. We will scour the whole island in search for any enemy presence, and if there is but a mere speck of presence of these slavers in any shape or form, we burn them to ashes."

Tahaelyx bowed his head in assent before Naruto turned to his Archmage and said, "Now, Lord Aevor, as for you, I have a very important task for you."

Aevor bowed to his liege Lord and answered, "What is thy bidding, my Lord?"

Naruto grinned savagely, told his plan to his commanders, said commanders gave their approvals, with his partner grinning menacingly in his mindscape and said, "Oh, this will be fun to watch."

Days passed quickly. And days turn to weeks. The last of the Valyrian people and their army are now sailing their way to Volantis. And while on their voyage, their Lord was on an island close to the said city, looking at the horizon where he knew where Volantis stands. Gazing beside him, Ancalagon's large snarling head was looking in the same direction his rider was looking at, and growling lowly in anticipation of the carnage they would bring.

Looking down from where they are perched on the said island, Naruto saw the burning of a budding port town the Volantians built on the island. Buildings charred black from dragon fire, stone houses and establishments turned to rubble and glass. Slavers were slaughtered by the man. Slaves were freed and given temporary shelters.

Nodding to himself with a stony look, Naruto looked up now and saw that his dragon riders were now patrolling the island. Looking for any stranglers that may have hidden themselves when they sacked the port town. Searching for Tahaelyx, Naruto spotted the man and his dragon was already heading his way before the duo landed beside Ancalagon and dismounted his dragon. Kneeling before his liege Lord, Tahaelyx began, "My Lord, the island is secured. I have our riders scouring the island now if there were any more slavers that escaped our wrath."

Naruto waved his hand before Tahaelyx stood up and the former answered, "That's good, Tahaelyx. Well done." Looking back at the horizon, he asked, "How many more days do you think before the others arrive?"

Tahaelyx pondered for a moment before he answered, "Less than a sennight I imagine, my Lord."

Naruto grinned before saying, "Perfect." Shifting his gaze to his dragon, specifically at the person who is sitting at his dragon's saddle, he continued, "Aevor, it's time."

Aevor, who is watching the horizon as well, shifted his gaze to his liege Lord and answered, "Then let's be off, my Lord." Naruto nodded, and as if understanding the whole conversation–to which the dragon did–Ancalagon lowered his head on the ground for Naruto to mount him. Naruto chuckled, as if he needed his dragon's help in climbing up his massive frame.

Once he was on top of his dragon's head, Naruto turned to Tahaelyx again and said, "Tahaelyx, I'll leave this island in your capable hands. I'll be back within the day." The latter nodded his head before the largest and mightiest dragon in the world extended its large wings before flapping it once, twice, and by the time it flapped thrice, the massive dragon ways away now, hiding above the clouds and heading for Volantis.

The city of Volantis. A port town that's located east of the Disputed Lands. It sprawls across one of the four mouths of the Rhoyne, where the river flows into the Summer Sea. Port city it may be, it ruled the cities of Volon Therys, Valysar, and Selhorys, which is located directly northeast of the city. The city also controls the Rhoyne as far as the tributary river Selhoru, and holds sway over the Orange Shore, located west of the city.

Ruling Volantis are the Triarchs. Chosen annually through festive and tumultuous elections, they are chosen from amongst the noble families who can prove unbroken descent from old Valyria, and will serve until the first day of the new year, and those triarchs belong to one of two political parties, the Elephants and the Tigers. The Elephants are the party of the merchants and moneylenders advocating trade, while the tigers are old aristocracy and warriors interested in conquest. At no time since the Century of Blood has more than one tiger been named triarch.

Currently, the voted triarchs are the Tiger, Malaquo Maegyr. An old and toothless man who, like all his co-political party members in the Tigers, favors war.

and the Elephants Doniphos Paenymion and Nyessos Vhassar. Old they may be, but their minds are sharper than ever. They need to be, for they are the best of the best of their party.

And they reside in the eastern half of Volantis, within the great oval, fused black dragonstone that's harder than steel or diamond, known as the Black Walls.

Now, in the bristling heat of the afternoon sun, we find the triarchs are having their usual meeting of affairs in their largest palace's courtyard. With slaves fanning their masters to compensate for the heat.

Malaquo, the oldest of the trio, started, "My fellow triarchs, I bring news from our friends in Slaver's Bay. The slaver city of Astapor has fallen, their unsullied army they created turned on them, sacking the city."

The grim faces of Doniphos and Nyessos was their answer to him before the latter asked, "And who took command of the unsullied army? We all know that for you to command an unsullied, you buy them first, just like any slaves. To buy and command ten thousand unsullied means the buyer is wealthy beyond measure, and had the said army let loose on their former masters."

Malaquo scoffed before he answered, "Always the wealthy, you always think the answer, Nyessos. It could be that they seized the master that holds the whip before having the army sack the city."

Doniphos, on the other hand, was deep in thought. Sacking the city of Astapor? It means there's a person out there in Slaver's Bay that hates Slavers. With enough hate to buy ten thousand unsullied and have them sack a city. What's next, Yunkai? The other free cities? So many questions running on his head due to the issue, as well as listening half mindedly between the two bickering triarchs that they failed to notice that their surroundings were now dimly lit, like the sun was being blocked by something… big.

The trio only noticed what was going on when one of the slaves that was serving them refreshments, dropped the serving tray he was holding and shouted, "DRAGON!" while pointing his index finger up in the air.

Simultaneously standing up, the trio looked up, hoping beyond hope that the slave was just seeing an illusion caused by the heat. And when they saw what the slave was pointing at, they paled on what their eyes were seeing.

A dragon… A fucking living, breathing, dragon. Gods above, its wingspan's shadow is covering Volantis wholly. The dragon then descended, circling the city with its majestic form. The gust of winds buffeting the city that was generated by its powerful wings was a testament on how powerful this giant of a dragon is.

It then landed on the roof of the tallest temple within the Black Walls, which they weren't surprised that the said temple held the giant dragon's weight, as the said temple was also built like the Black Walls, before the said dragon roared to the skies. One would think that the city was experiencing an earthquake, but no. The roar was so deep and powerful that every man, woman, child, and animal in Volantis, felt their bodies rattle from the sheer strength of the dragon's roar.

Fear permeated through the whole city. No dragon in recorded history grew this massive in proportions. Not even the infamous Balerion, the Black Dread was this big. The people of Volantis waited in bated breath. Either the dragon would bathe the whole city in dragon fire or just use its massive build to decimate the city. Either way, they were all fucked. Some started to cry. Some kneeled and started praying to whichever God they believed in. Some just stood frozenly, in fear that if they ran, the dragon would start its rampage and kill them. The city watch and mercenaries on the other hand, their reactions vary from one to another. Some of the braver souls gripped their swords and spears at the ready for the coming battle. Some just threw their weapons at the ground and started praying. Archers knocked their arrows on a fool's hope that their arrows would pierce the dragon's scales. And some just got out of dodge. Praying that the dragon would ignore them.

And then they noticed him.

There was a person standing on the head of the largest dragon they have ever seen. Closest to the dragon could see the person was wearing a dark hooded cape that covered his flanks, and his armor within. The said person then walked from the dragon's topmost head to its snout, to which they were surprised that, despite the dragon moving its head side to side to look over the city, the person kept walking as if the said person was walking on the ground. Once the person was on the dragon's snout, he or she grabbed the hem of his or her hood before pulling it backward, showing the person's features and crossing his or her arms on their chest.

The said person was a man. Even with the distance, they knew the cape wearing individual was a man.

And then they heard a voice. A voice speaking in high valyrian…

Within their minds.

People of Volantis. My name is Naruto Belsarion, I, and my dragon stand before you not merely as a warrior, but as a voice for the voiceless, a protector of the oppressed, and a harbinger of change. You may have built your fortunes upon the backs of the innocent, treating human lives as mere commodities to be bought and sold.

Every slave in the city looked at each other before the voice continued.

But today, I offer you an ultimatum—one that will determine the fate of your city and the legacy of your actions. You have two choices. The first is to continue down this dark path of inhumane exploitation, where profit reigns supreme over empathy, and greed fuels your every decision. Know this: my army is already on its way, and we will not rest until justice is served. Your reign of terror will come to an end, and you will face the consequences of your actions.

Now, every freedmen, and their army looked at each other in fear of what they heard, even the triarchs themselves were shaking in fear.

However, I also extend to you a chance at redemption. You can cease your abhorrent practices, release those you have enslaved, and join us in a new era of compassion and respect for all lives. Embrace the opportunity to be part of the solution rather than the problem. Together, we can build a future where freedom is the birthright of every individual, not a privilege for the few.

The freedmen who have slaves but treat them well, were now contemplating within themselves.

Time is of the essence. You have until a sennight to make your decision. Choose wisely—because the world is watching, and the choice you make will echo through history. Stand against us, and you will find yourselves faced with the full might of Valyria's Army. Choose empathy, and you may yet find a path to salvation. The clock is ticking, Volantis. What will it be? Will you cling to your chains, or will you break free? The decision is yours.

And with that, the now named Naruto Belsarion turned on his heels before jumping towards his dragon's topmost head. The dragon then roared again, once more rattling every building and body in Volantis, before extending its massive wings outwards before flapping once, twice, once it was in the air, the massive dragon roared again, now breathing a stream of fire through the air, showing the people of Volantis how powerful its dragon fire was, before proceeding to fly southeast towards the harbor and disappearing through the clouds.

The city was quiet. Seconds pass. Minutes. Then the screams of fear and panic started.

The triarchs on the other hand…

"Belsarion… Where did I hear that house name before?" Asked one of the trembling Elephant party members.

Then Malaquo spoke, his voice shaking in disbelief, "B-Belsarion!? H-How!? I thought they all perished during the doom!"

The elephant party duo look at each other questioningly, before asking, "What are you on about, Malaquo? What do you know?"

Melaquo looked at the duo with an incredulous expression before answering, "Haven't you both been reading up your history!? The Belsarions were the dragon lords! They were the ones who ruled over all of them dragon riding inbreds in all but name! And if that monster of a dragon is who i think it is, then i know who this Naruto is!"

Shock and fear flooded their system. Now, they remember! The Belsarions were the dragon lords you don't piss off. Especially that person. There was a reason why slavery was banned before the doom. Why the people and the land of Essos prospered more during the last few years before the doom.

Only one person in history who is revered as a God made in flesh during that time…

Melaquo saw their look. The realization finally hit them full force of six four-horses chariots head on.

One thought went through them.

We are all fucked

[With Naruto]

The flight back to the island was as smooth as it could be. Now preparations are in order. War is coming to Volantis. If slavery is rampant Volantis, then he will assume that every colony they once had that he already cleaned during Valyrian Freehold's reign is full of slavers. They will all be put to heel. And they will bend the knee. If they resist, then they will burn.

As they were descending to land, Aevor coughed on his hand before saying, "Pardon me, my Lord, but I have a question."

Naruto looked to Aevor with a raised eyebrow before gesturing to continue, "Your speech earlier, did you write that down first? Or was it on top of your head?" Aevor asked, a smirk slowly forming on his face.

Naruto gave Aevor a deadpanned look while Kurama was roaring in laughter within his mindscape, "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

As if rubbing salt on the wound, Ancalagon, the traitor he was, rumbled slowly as if laughing as well.

Groaning to himself, Naruto huffed before muttering, "Traitors, the lot of you…"
