A/N: Hello again! Long time no see for this story. Sorry about that. Had other stories that I wanted to get content out for first before I went back to it. Hopefully, I'll have the next couple chapters at sooner rather later. Until then, enjoy.

Metroid Prime: Remnant

Chapter 4

Samus did her best to control the Gunship's descent into the planet's atmosphere, but it was rocky at best. Lightning crackled along the length of the vessel and thunder rumbled outside as storm cloud lashed at the ship far above where they should be in a normal biosphere. The hull of her ship began to glow red as it was superheated through it's descent.

Suddenly, a massive bolt of lightning struck the vessel, slamming it downwards at an extreme angle. And the engines cut off.

Samus immediately began tapping at various buttons and flicking switches while trying pull back on the now locked throttle. Her gaze was jerking about as various warning lights began to flash across her screen and an alarm sounded somewhere.

Then, the alarm went silent as everything darkened. She blinked that, blue eyes widening. The power had been cut. She immediately began looking around for something to do as the vessel dropped down rapidly so much so that it flight caused it to unleash a bloodcurdling shriek as it broke past the sound barrier with ever increasing velocity.

Finally, after breaking open the emergency panels she tapped at the panel, trying to restart the ship's reactor. She punched in the emergency sequence, holding down the two, large buttons while pumping the lever once, twice, thrice then she looked after slamming it back home, the screens remained dark.

She grimaced and went back at the panel again. She started the sequence again, holding down the switches and pumping the lever again. Once, twice, thrice.

With a stuttering cough the engines came back online as the various screen flickered back to life. She wheeled back around in the cockpit and racketed back on the throttle controls with all her strength as the display counted down how close she was to the ground with a terrible rapidity.

The vessel groaned as it slowly, slowly righted itself just as it escaped the storm clouds and she straightened out. But not fast enough.

The Gunship slammed through the tops of trees as it entered a largely forested, mountainous area. Samus attempted to slow down the ship some more, activating emergency brakes and other methods of slowing it down. All for it to end as she slammed into some kind of structure and the world went dark.

Hours later…

Samus came awake suddenly, gasping. She clutched at her head as it pounded like her brain wanted to escape her skull and looked around only to find everything dark and blurry. Blinking rapidly to clear her vision only to find that the red haze wasn't quite going away.

That's when she noticed that there was something sticky on the side of her head.

She took off her helmet and ran a finger along the side of her head to find that there was blood pooling there from where she had somehow hit her head in the crash. She glanced around then to find much of the interior of the Gunship's cockpit sparking and flashing with dim light as the various panels lied dormant.

Her ship was without power?

She frowned at that before turning to find the onboard medikit and began to bandage her injury. Then, after taking a stimpack, she activated the cockpit canopy and made her way outside of the ship.

Once outside she found that she was in some kind of underground cavern of some type. What made it strange was that her suit's sensors claimed that it was man-made. Possibly the lost Federation detachment?

She then turned and scanned her ship finding that while too damaged to allow her to escape the atmosphere right now, it's self-repair function was still viable, it just needed power to start. To that end, she needed to find a way to power it.

There was no electrical supply nearby, no power cells on her limited map, no nothing. Then she looked up at the the gigantic hole that her ship had made on entry and tilted her head to the side. Solar power, perhaps?

She made to fire her missile launcher only to find that it wasn't functioning. She immediately checked her Varia Suit's status to find that it was nearly as damaged as her ship. No Missile Launcher, no Morphball, no Power Beam, but, at least her Grappling Beam was functioning.

She sighed at that before looking around to find that was a passageway leading out of the cavern she found herself in. With no choice she began making her way down it.

Outside thunder continued to rumble as lightning flashed overhead.

A/N: That's it for this chapter. I decided that as this story is kind of based on Metroid Prime 1 and 2 the most that I would also write it that way. To that end, this chapter is another "cut-scene" chapter, which is why it's so short. I apologize about that. I know I said that I wouldn't be writing more short chapters for this story, but there will be more going forward, so, sorry. That being said, next chapter Will be longer.

Take care!
