Chapter Three: More Stairs? Who built this damn house, a fitness instructor?

Since the morning after THAT night in Grey Garden, Nora had traveled alone with only Dogmeat for company. As much as he denied it, she could tell Nick had started to feel more than a little uncomfortable around her. She figured she would give him some space. Hopefully, with time, this would become one of those bad experiences that evolve into something to laugh at when looking back on it. Since she didn't want to explain or lie about what happened to the others, it was just her and Dogmeat for the time being. "Just like the good old days, right boy?" she gives him a good rub behind the ears. They reach an intersection where Nora checks her pip-boy map. "Well, Dogmeat, that old specialty shop should be around here somewhere. Hope it has the parts we need." She walks up to the first storefront that was not boarded up and carefully makes her way in, gun ready. After searching the ground floor, she makes her ways up the stairs. Dogmeat barks a warning just before the everything collapses.

(Sanctuary Hills before the bombs fall)

"Nora dear, wake up, "Nate says, giving her gentle nudge. As she is rubbing her eyes, he adds, "Sorry to disturb your nap, but he'll be here any minute."

Nora smiles as she rolls over to sit up and places a brief kiss her husband's on the lips. "I don't know why I slept so long. Sorry."

"Don't apologize, having to travel all morning to drop both Shaun and Cogsworth at my parents' house must have been tiring. Especially having to deal with Mom once you got there. Why don't you get cleaned up a little and I'll get the drinks ready."

Nora nods and as she is drying off her face as she hears the door open and close. She then smiles as she hears Nick's voice complaining again about the traffic. He laughs at something Nate must have said as she walks down the hall to welcome Nick home.

This Nick was human, but when he turns to look at her, he smiles and shows off his amber ringed glowing eyes. Nora always loved his eyes but when he lost both of them in that accident, she has come to appreciate the fully functional replacements. Nick opens his arms to invite her in for a hug, an invite she was happy to accept. Nora then reaches up to pull Nick face down for a passion filled kiss. At the mini-bar, Nate watches with a smile as he mixed the drinks. They break apart as Nate walks over to the offer the beverages.

"To friends, family and lovers, "Nate raises his glass. "To finally being able to spend some time at home with you goofs, "Nick raises his glass. "To a baby free weekend, "Nora raises her. Nate responds as the glasses click, "I'll drink to that."

"So, the entire weekend huh?" Nick drawls as he takes a seat on the red couch.

"Nate's mother insisted on it, "Nora smiles as she sits next to him, "Something about all couples needing time alone or something. I personally think she hopes that we'll start on another grandkid for her."

"Really, "Nick smirks, "Let me guess she still doesn't know about me?"

"Sorry, Nick, but my parents are rather traditional, "Nate answers placing hand on his old dormmate's shoulder, "They only accepted my preferences after, and I shall quote what they said, stopped dating men and married a nice lady like Nora. It would give them a heart attack knowing that we have a third in our little marriage."

Nick reaches up and pats Nate's hand, showing a wedding band matching the ones Nate and Nora wore. "I knew that when I got into this, "he said with a half-smile and then takes another sip of his drink, "Beside if society isn't fully accepting of us why should I expect your parents to be. Just wish I could be living here full time with you guys but my work…"

"Oh! I have some good news about that, the house loan was approved! "Nora exclaims, "We can move in at the start of the year. It's less than a half hour's drive from your job, takes us further away from Nate's parents and there's a law firm in that area that's expressed interest in taking me on!"

"That's great!" Nick grins, happier than he has been in a long time. Soon his family would be back together and under the same roof, full time.

"It sure is, "Nate licks his lips, and looks towards the hallway, "Why don't we all go to the bedroom and celebrate."

(In the bedroom, window curtains closed tight)

Nora in her blue satin lingerie laid on the bed watching the men. Nick and Nate were passionately kissing each other as they struggled to remove each other clothes. Nate backs off and mutters, "I think Nora is feeling a bit left out."

"Well, we can't have that, "Nick responds and then smirks, "I claim the front door here on out. You already got your kid. It's my turn now."

"Nick! "Nora laughs, "It way too soon for another baby and you know it."

"Well birth control is not 100 percent, and I don't want to take any chances on missing my turn, "He snarks as he climbs onto the bed and gently pushes Nora down, kissing her once more as he his hand wonders down the front of her nightie.

"That's fine by me, "Nate adds, "I was always more of an ass man. Why don't you two go ahead and get started. I'll just take a seat and enjoy the show."

Neither of them on the bed responds as Nick quickly opens up Nora legs and wraps them around him. "Finally, home, "he mutters as he humps a little over her covered core and runs his hands down her sides, "Ngh. Letting you know, I might be a little fast at first tonight. It's been too fucking long."

"Don't worry about it, you'll have plenty of time to make it up to me, "Nora says and then reaches up to whisper in his ear, "Fuck me."

Nick loses what little finesse he had as he pushes her panties to the side. Knowing her as well as he did, he knew that she was already more than ready for it. He then slams into her and starts pumping.

As he is enjoying feel of his wife around him and the little noises that she was making, Nick feels a familiar masculine hand on his lower back. Ngh...he groans as he keeps thrusting, Nora's encouraging gasps below adding fuel to the fire. "That's it, Nick, "Nate whispers in Nick's hear, loud enough for Nora to hear, "Make her cum. Once you made her happy, it'll be your turn to take it."

(Sunrise)

The next morning, Nora had just finished putting on a fresh pot of coffee. She smiles as she sees a very ruffled Nick stumble into the room and eventually find his seat at the dining table. "Morning, Nick. Coffee is about ready. Any requests for breakfast?"

"Anything you make is great, but nothing too sugary please."

"How about bacon and eggs. You can choose to add jam to the toast or not. Eggs over easy like always?"

"Sounds heavenly"

As Nora took out the eggs and bacon from the frig Nick asks, "Where's Nate?"

Nora angrily shakes her head as she answers, "His asshole of a manager called him in for an 'emergency' earlier. Good thing that house loan came through, he can now get that transfer he's been wanting."

"Damn, "Nick sympathizes, "Any idea when he'll be back?'

"Not a clue, "Nora explains as the bacon cooks, "Could be this afternoon or not until Monday. It all depends on the type of emergency it is."

Nick shakes his head as he opens up the Saturday paper to catch up on the news. When a plate is placed before him, he puts the paper aside and thanks his wife. As they eat, he then pipes up, "There is one good thing, I get you all to myself until he gets back. So, after this, let's get you back into that bed."

Nora suddenly grabs the sides of her head as pain sears through it.

(Roadside camp)

Nora's eyes open and all she sees is a blurred night sky. She blinks a few times and notices she aches all over, but especially the side of her head and her right leg hurts like a bitch. She hisses as she tries to get up only for a hand to push her gently back down. "Now don't you go undoing all of my good work, "says a woman with a strange twang in her voice. Nora closes her eyes to avoid the flashlight the stranger uses to check the bandages in the dark. The woman sighs," You have one smart pooch. He came out and literally dragged me to where you fell. Here, let me get you safely propped up with this old log."

Once she is sitting upright, Nora looks over to thank her savior but is struck silent. Her savior was a synth and not a 3rd gen one.
