Chapter 13: It's Like Jousting

"Gabriel Ultrakill it's the IRS open up!"

"Oh fuck Izuku it's the feds! I'm not going back to jail!"

*Gabriel aims a gun at the door*

Gentlemen it is time for the next round of the sport's festival to commence. This chapter got way longer than I anticipated so enjoy the extra action that I added. Next chapter might come out a bit later than I would want since I go back to college in less than a week. I'll do my best to stay as consistent as I have been recently. Also it seems like most people were onboard with the Latin phrases/words so you'll see a little bit of that in this chapter (if you know a good-reliable translator hit me up because I have no idea whether or not I got anything right).

Moving on I would like to officially declare that the angel names suggestions are now closed. Thank you all for participating and as a reward I will reveal a little spoiler that will come into play in the story.

The Seven Archangels of Heaven (From most to least powerful)

Gabriel: Archangel of Justice

Michael: Archangel of War

Azrael: Archangel of Death

Camael: Archangel of Strength

Zamariel: Archangel of Life

Raphael: Archangel of Knowledge

Uriel: Archangel of Healing

Special thanks to Geo995, zenwatermelon, Blazing Torrent, ProjectIceman for coming up with like half of these names.

Without further ado I hope you guys enjoy this chapter.

*Tap*

To the others within the waiting room the rhythmic tapping of a show hitting the ground was putting them more on edge than they already were. Bar Izuku's obvious placement, the fight for remaining forty one placements had been a brutal one. Every advantage that could be taken was used, quirks, brute force, and even some underhanded tactics like tripping. Even now during their break between rounds, contestants who qualified could still feel their hearts beating wildly in their chest.

Except for Izuku, who was the source of the incessant tapping.

It was not an action born out of nervousness; in fact it was quite the opposite. The angel was rather impatient as he was forced to wait for the next round to start. Of course, he understood that his classmates needed the break in order to collect themselves. However, his angelic physiology meant that he was ready to go by the time the last qualifier had made it across the finish line.

"Midori, you're my friend and I love ya and all, but could you please stop tapping your foot?" Mina's anxious voice broke through the silent waiting room. "You're making me really nervous."

"Sorry." The greenette sheepishly mumbled. "Just want the next match to start already."

"You know, I think you're one of the few who would want that." Ochako piped up with a bewildered expression. "I don't know about everyone else, but I need the rest."

"Ya dude, aren't you like even a little bit tired?" The tape user asked.

"Not even slightly." Izuku answered honestly.

"...Midroiya–bro, we just watched you obliterate three 0-pointers. In like a minute…" Kirishima pointed out. Caught between being impressed and intimidated. "And you're saying you're not even just a little bit out of it?"

"Can't say that I am." Izuku causally shrugged. "My training is intensive and I'm usually ready to go after an hour or two."

"I remember you mentioning this before." Tokoyami said, hand on his chin contemplatively. "If it isn't too much to ask, would you mind sharing some details?"

There was a murmur of agreements from the other occupants in the room.

"I don't see why not, where to begin though?" The angel agreed, a thoughtful look on his face. "I guess the best way to describe it is sensory overload."

"Sensory overload?" The shadow user repeated curiously.

"My mentor's style is very offensive, so he prioritizes speed and aggression to end the fight quickly and decisively." Izuku began to explain. "He puts me in situations with overwhelming odds and with every weak point covered. I'm expected to not only be aware of every single threat but also control the battlefield so that I am the one who's on the offensive."

At the moment Izuku didn't particularly mind that he was partially revealing a piece of his angelic heritage. It felt oddly liberating being able to tell others what he has seen and done without being fearful of any repercussions.

"It's as my mentor says, 'if you find yourself on the defensive then you are losing'." The angel parroted Gabriel's words.

"I can see where you get your…initiative then mon ami." Aoyama commented.

"It does explain why you are always so assertive whenever we're in Hero Training." Tenya added.

"Just how I was trained." Izuku reiterated with another shrug. "Honestly the fact that I don't fight more opponents in class throws me off."

"Ok, timeout." Mina said while making a t-shape with her hands. "It kinda sounds like your teacher or whatever just throws you into a pit and expects you to fit a boat load of enemies."

"...that's exactly what he does." Izuku replied, staring at the girl with slightly wide eyes. "Pretty spot on."

There was a pause in the room as everyone looked at Izuku with a mix of concern and astonishment. The former for the rather archaic method of teaching that reminded them of older civilizations that they learned in history class. The latter for the fact that despite the brutal method, Izuku seemed unbothered and had clearly adapted to such a style. If they weren't already intimidated before, the rest of class 1-A certainly saw their president in a new light.

"...questionable teaching methods aside, it doesn't explain how exactly you possess such strength." Momo changed the subject.

"Oh, that. Before the entrance exam I worked out my body to the extreme." Izuku carefully began, trying his best to explain without revealing too much. "Turns out my quirk enhances my body; my guess is to withstand the full power of my wings. Heh, imagine my surprise when I found out I can bench a car and run just as fast as one."

Izuku knew he was vastly underselling his true strength, both out of concern that his classmates would ask too many questions and an uncertainty of his real power. In truth, the greenette wasn't even sure what his maximum was regarding his physical abilities. The machines in the Cyber Grind easily crumbled under his power, but outside of that Izuku had no other measurement. Plus, there was the fact that his newly unlocked Light increased his abilities even further, making it even more difficult to get an accurate reading.

"This change in your body, I assume it explains why you're ready for the next match already?" Tokoyami inquired.

"Yeah, you're exactly right." Izuku confirmed with a nod. "I get my energy back a lot quicker, not really sure how it works though." It felt wrong to blatantly lie to his friends, but until he had confirmation it was ok to share his angelic origin Izuku didn't want to take any chances.

"Your quirk is stupidly OP!" Mineta complained dramatically. "It's not fair!"

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with the midget." Jiro said with a deep sigh.

"I don't believe that is entirely fair, Jiro." Tokoyami rebutted firmly. "While Midoriya does have an impressive quirk, he has certainly earned his strength."

"Ya, it's like Aizawa-sensei tells us, it's not the quirk that makes the hero." The pink skinned girl agreed with her friend.

"So, you do pay attention in class." Aoyama teased with a smirk.

"Shut it."

"Make me."

"Children behave." Izuku chastised with an eye roll, earning a few chuckles from his classmates. He turned his attention to the earphone jack user. "I can understand what you mean, my quirk is rather strong, however I won't let it be my only reason for success. I'll still train as hard as I can, until I've grown into the hero I want to be."

"..."

"...dude, is there a moment where you aren't inspiring?"

Izuku tilted his head in confusion, unsure of why Sero said that or why his classmates were looking at him with reverence.

'Was it something I said?'

*The Arena*

Thankfully for Izuku the rest of the break passed fairly quickly with an announcement from the intercom summoning the remaining contestants to the arena. Walking out into the arena once more, the greenette began to scan those coming out of their respective tunnels. Predictably, the majority of class 1-A and 1-B had made it to the next round. However, Izuku was pleasantly surprised to see that a few Gen-Ed and some Support Course students had managed to make their way in.

"Scouting the competition my friend." Tokoyami asked from his side.

"Just seeing who made it." Izuku answered. "May seem weird to say, but I'm kinda happy not all Hero Course students made it."

"Ah, I think I understand what you mean." The shadow user nodded. "You are relieved to see that your words have inspired others."

"Ya…kinda feels selfish though." The angel replied back with a resigned tone. "I know they had no right to take my words to heart, but I can't help but be glad they did."

"There's nothing wrong with wanting to inspire others, Midoriya." Tokoyami soothed with a friendly pat on Izuku's shoulder. "If it wasn't for you they might not have found the resolve to push themselves."

"You got a point there." Izuku relented. "Thanks, Tokoyami. I don't know if I said it before but I'm glad that I have you as a friend."

"I do hope you still think so after this event." The teen challenged with a competitive but friendly smile.

"Speaking of what do you think it'll be?" The greenette asked. "If they're still following the same formula, I know it'll be team based but that's about it."

"I am unsure of the specifics, though I am confident that you might find yourself with a large handicap." Tokoyami shrugged.

"What makes you say that?" Izuku raised an eyebrow at that.

"They've put a lot of emphasis on first place when the race was over. Something tells me they want everyone to look at the number one." Tokoyami explained. "I don't mean to give bad luck but you might've painted a giant target on your back."

Izuku took a moment to ponder his friend's analysis and soon came to the conclusion that he was likely right. Ever since the first event had ended there was a clear move to put a lot of attention on first place. His name and picture were the biggest out of all the contestants and Present Mic had always made it a point to mention who was first.

Others might have shrunk at the revelation, but Izuku was not like the others.

"Good, wouldn't want this to be easy." Izuku wore a determined look, his unwavering conviction lacing his words.

"Heh, I'd expect nothing less from you." Tokoyami gave a small chuckle. "Such resolve in the face of adversity."

"Alright boys and girls!" Midnight's voice brought the attention of everyone onto her. "Now that our qualifiers are all rested up, it's time for the next event! Hope you made some friends because this one will be team based!"

Some in the crowd of students were surprised while others were fairly unbothered by the reveal. The remaining forty two students watched the giant screen in anticipation, wondering just what sort of challenge was awaiting them. The answer soon came when the giant screen behind the R-Rated Hero lit with two bold words.

'Cavalry Battle'

"Contestants better saddle up because this event is going to be a wild ride! Because only the top four teams will move onto the next round!" Midnight exclaimed with a dramatic flourish. "I'm sure you're all familiar with this game so you know that teams must be comprised of at least one horse and one rider! That means teams must be a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4!"

'So, the synergetic of quirks is a must in order to garner any kind of lead.' Izuku thought. He took a quick glance around, noticing that a lot of students were currently eyeing him. 'Seems like a lot of people want me on their team.'

"Each of you will be given a headband with an assigned point value that corresponds to your placement in the preliminaries! Forty-two will be worth 5 points with five points added to each rank!"

'So I'll be worth 210 points…but there has to be more.' Izuku noted to himself. Looking at the announcer with a skeptical look.

"All except our first place winner…who will be worth TEN MILLION POINTS!"

The arena shook with a roar as the screen shifted to show a picture of Izuku with his point value underneath. And just like that Tokoyami's assumption was proven correct, all eyes now on the greenette. The looks among the contestants became varied, with some looking apprehensive while others wore competitive expressions. It was hard to tell whether or not he was surrounded by people who wanted to be allies or his opponent.

'There it is.' Izuku glanced to his right, rolling his eyes when Tokoyami gave him a knowing look.

"Riders must wear their team's headbands at neck level or higher! The only way you'll get more points is by swiping other teams' headbands!" The screen shifted, showing Present Mic, All Might, and Present mic in cavalry formation. "But don't worry! Even if your formation is broken and your headbands gone it's not over till the buzzer rings!" The tv showed the Pro Hero formation falling apart before getting back together.

'Though I imagine being out of formation will set a team back by a lot. So, a good foundation is needed, hmm.' The beginning of a plan began to take shape in Izuku's mind.

"Quirks are allowed and expected, use them to your little heart's content!" The heroine gave a flirty smile. "But! Any moves that are made to intentionally harm other contestants will result in an immediate disqualification!" She punctuated the threat with a crack of her whip. "You have 15 minutes to form your team starting…now!"

With that the arena became chaos as students scrambled around trying to form their teams as quickly as possible. The angel saw that despite the giant target on his back, many contestants still eyed him as they began to form their team. Apparently some still thought he would be a powerful ally to have despite the obvious disadvantage. Though a good portion of students flocked towards Bakugo and Todoroki.

An understandable decision, they were worth a lot of points while not being nearly as costly as Izuku was.

"I don't suppose you'd be interested in teaming up?" The greenette turned to his friend.

"Under normal circumstances I'd be delighted to, however I must decline this time my friend." The shadow user said with an apologetic tone. "You said it yourself, today is a day for us to overcome our barriers. I can only do that if I stand on my merits."

"I understand." The angel gave him a firm nod. "Good luck out there."

"As well as you my friend."

Izuku watched the other teen leave before gaining a contemplative look on his features. He wasn't exactly sure who he should approach about joining his team. There were so many people out there he could choose from. A vast amount of combinations that could be done should he choose the correct people.

However, at the same time Izuku didn't simply want to find the most optimal quirks that could be used in tandem with his own power. He wanted to truly work for his win and that could only be done if chose the more interesting contestants rather than the strongest. Perhaps it would be better to let people come to him rather than seeking them out. Though with how certain people were side eyeing him he might have to turn down a few of them.

"Excuse me, Midoriya?" A light poke to his shoulder drew the angel from his musings.

Turning to the person who captured his attention, Izuku's eyes gained a look of surprise when he saw the familiar face of Ibara. The teen found himself caught off guard by her sudden appearance. He expected her to team up with those from her class, so the fact she was approaching him was a bit shocking to say the least.

Plus, his brain decided that now it would be a good time to remind him that not an hour ago he had nearly tripped over his own feet. In front of a girl, in front of a very cute girl who was now standing in front with a curious look. Why was it so hot all of a sudden?

"Ah–Shiozaki hi–what's up?!" Izuku's cheeks gained a red tint as he stuttered. 'Come on I thought I moved past the stuttering!'

"If it does not trouble you I wish for us to form an alliance." The girl said calmly.

"I don't mean to sound like I'm not grateful, but I figured you'd want to work with people more familiar." The angel nodded towards the other students in class 1-B.

"Normally yes, however your speech early was…inspirational." Ibara admitted with a short pause. "Your words truly spoke to me…and I find myself glad that you also share in the belief of the Lord's word." Her voice grew low as she sheepishly looked away, a small blush on her face.

"I see, well if you'll have me then I'll be happy to call you my teammate." Izuku nodded in understanding, offering a disarming smile.

"The Lord truly does smile down upon me this day." The girl clasped her hands together in a short prayer. Somehow a single golden ray of light shining down on her.

'...where did that light come from–never mind getting distracted.' Izuku blinked before focusing once more. "I guess we should find two others to join us." He turned his head, scouting for anyone else that would make a good member for his team.

"There you are!"

Before Izuku could even think about moving, his vision was filled with a pink haired girl that was no more than an inch from his face. In any other circumstance a person would have jumped back from how close the girl was to their face. The angel on the other hand was far more composed, taking a step back away from the girl.

"Personal space please." He said, finally getting a good look at her. 'Lots of equipment, she must be a Support Course student then.'

"Team up with me Mr. Million!"

"...I believe we're getting out of order here." Izuku began slowly. "My name is Midoriya, and you are?"

"Hatsume Mei at your service!" The girl, now identified as Mei, proudly puffed out her chest. "Future CEO of Hatsume Industries!"

"Ok, and you want to team up with me because…"

"Because all eyes are on you duh!" She said as though it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Being in the spotlight gives me the opportunity to show off all my babies!"

"...pardon?" Izuku blinked dumbly as did the vine haired girl next to him.

"My babies!" The pinkette gestured to her gadgets. "Every successful company has them!"

Izuku turned to look at Ibara who only managed to offer a shrug.

"Alright you can join our team." The angel accepted with a nod.

"Wahoo! You won't be disappointed!" The girl enthusiastically grabbed his hand and shook it.

"Of that we are both certain." Izuku muttered in amusement. He was starting to like her bombastic attitude.

"Forgive my interruption, but time is growing shorter, and we have yet to find a fourth member." Ibara flatly cut in, wearing a neutral expression.

Realizing his teammate was right, Izuku glanced around in hopes of finding anyone that was still struggling to find a team. Eventually his sights settled on Ochako, who was glancing between teams with a nervous look on her features. Recognizing her uncertainty, the greenette decided to approach her.

"Uraraka, have you found a team yet?" The angel inquired with a friendly smile.

"Ah–Midoriya hey and no I haven't." She said with a dejected look.

"Well, if you don't mind Ibara, Hatsume, and I would love to have you on our team." He offered with an outstretched hand. "Just hope you don't mind that we'll be the main target of the match."

"...you know I don't think I do." Ochako laughed lightly as she shook his hand. "It's hard to be scared whenever you're around."

"He certainly seems to have that effect." Ibara agreed from behind Izuku.

"I–ah mm." The angel sputtered, coughing into his hand to hide his flushed face. "Ahem, I think now that we got our team formed we should talk strategy."

"Knowing you, ya already got something in mind don't you?" The brunette rhetorically asked.

"I got something, but I wanted to run it by you guys." Izuku nodded in confirmation.

"Well, I'm all ears Mr. Million, lay it on us!" Mei bounced on the heels of her feet in excitement.

"Alright but first…what kind of gadgets are you packing?"

*Ten Minutes Later*

"And time!" Midnight's voice signaled the end of the fifteen minutes. "Hope you lovely beauties were able to form your teams and come up with a plan because it's time for the battle to start!"

"I'll say folks these teams are looking fierce!" Present Mic hyped up the crowd. "Let's hope they put that determination to good use!"

"Or we'll see if they get sidetracked and end up being eliminated." Aizawa ominously added.

Izuku along with the rest of his team were lined up like the other contestants, observing how nearly all the teams were eyeing him. He had taken the position of horse, while Ibara had been assigned rider with Ochako and Mei as support. The angel had explained that while being knocked out of formation wasn't an automatic elimination it would still be a determinate that would likely lead to the same outcome regardless.

As such he proposed that he should be the horse since his physical build and 'quirk' were great for maintaining balance. Ibara being chosen as rider was met with some hesitance, but Izuku was adamant that she was perfect for the role. Her quirk provided both offensive and defensive capabilities for both gathering and defending their points. Ochako's zero gravity and Mei's gadgets would work as providing support for Ibara should she start being overwhelmed while also offering a wide range of movement.

If only Izuku could ignore the fact that Ibara was currently sitting on his shoulders.

'Father protect me.' Izuku faced forward, a large blush on his face.

"I think we spent enough time on foreplay!" Midnight announced, her whip raised in the air. "Let's get this battle royale started!"

"Three!"

"Two!"

"One!"

*Crack*

"Start!"

It was almost comical how quickly many of the other teams turned around and began rushing towards Izuku and his allies. A result that the angel had expected and had formed a plan accordingly in order to even the odds.

"Um…I know we were gonna be the number one target, but this seems like a lot even for us." Ochako nervously piped from Izuku's side. "Are you sure this is gonna work?"

"I'm certain, trust in my Uraraka." The greenette assured with a confident tone. His eyes narrowed as he watched the approaching teams. "It's just like jousting, we take out the riders and everything falls apart from there." He offered with a small shrug.

The angel tensed his leg muscles as he watched two teams rapidly approaching. He identified the first as Kendo, along with other students that were undoubtedly from 1-B. The other was Tooru, if the lack of a person in the rider position was any indication, who also had students from 1-A as her teammates. Both teams were racing straight towards Team Midoriya with others trailing behind them.

The brunette girl and Support Course student followed their leader's example and ready themselves to set their plan into motion. Ibara's vine hair swayed back and forth in anticipation, similar to a snake preparing to strike at its prey.

"Wait…" Izuku muttered. Watching the approaching contestants with a calculated gaze.

Kendo's group was ahead of the others and were rapidly closing the distance between her team and Izuku's.

"Wait…"

He could feel a small fraction of his Light beginning to course through his body.

"Prodeo!" The angel's body moved forward with a mighty shout.

Like a knight riding into battle, the group surged forward with unexpected speed, helped by Izuku's wings propelling them. Itsuka and her allies alike let out surprised squawks as the greenette's team raced to meet them head on. If they had any sort of plan to avoid the charge it would never come to fruition, they were simply too slow.

Conjuring a shield of vines in front of her, Ibara used her quirk as a makeshift battering ram. The strength of her vines coupled with Izuku's indomitable fortitude easily broke the formation of their opponents. A girl with green hair, who Izuku remembered was named Setsuna, was shoved forward from the force. Not only did this cause her team's formation to become unstable, but also allowed Ochako to put her in zero gravity as they continued forward.

At the same moment, Izuku had managed to snag one of Itsuka's headbands from around her neck. Holding his hand up, Ibara accepted the offered headband, quickly tying it around her own neck.

"Woah folks! Team Midoriya is charging right into the fray even with the huge bounty on their heads!"

"A bold strategy, let's see if it pays off."

Seeing how they had easily torn through Team Kendo's defenses the rest of the teams wisely began to disperse. Clearly brute force would not be the key if they were going to go after Team Midoriya. They would need to find a way to work around Ibara's defenses or find a way to immobilize Izuku long enough for them to take the ten million headband.

"We got a weird looking guy with silver hair on our six!" Mei informed the group after using her quirk.

"It's Tetsutetsu." Ibara clarified, dispelling her vine shield. "His quirk allows him to turn his body into steel."

"So, it's like Kirishima." Izuku muttered to himself. "Shiozaki, what are the chances your vines can withstand his steel?"

"Slim to none I'm afraid." The girl answered. "My vines can dig into concrete but that's as far as I can push myself."

"Alright, let's keep away from them if we can help it." Izuku commanded, turning his body so that he could begin to make distance.

*Squelch*

"What the–"

If it wasn't for Gabriel's training he might've found himself nearly tripping over himself as he found his feet submerged in the ground. However, unlike the rest of the arena, the patch he was currently standing in appeared far more liquidly. While he was able to move, his speed had been drastically reduced, practically leaving his team as sitting ducks.

Turning his gaze to Team Tetsutetsu, Izuku's green eyes narrowed on the teen with a skeletal looking face. His brows were furrowed in concentration as his team rapidly began to close the distance.

"I'm stuck!" Izuku quickly informed his teammates. "Hatsume–way out now!"

"You got it boss!" Mei grinned widely as she pulled a capsule from one of the gauntlets she wore.

Throwing the item into the ground where Izuku stood, Mei wore an excited smile as she pulled her goggles over her eyes. Not a moment later did Izuku feel the device begin to expand from under his feet. And no sooner than that were he and the others flying through the air with a sudden burst of energy.

"And Team Midoriya takes to the air!" Present exclaimed. "I've seen a lot of cavalry battles folks, but never seen one that sends a team into the sky!"

"Portable jump pad!" Mei advertised as they soared in the air. She flashed a smile at one of the cameras while giving a thumbs up. "Perfect for getting out of sticky situations or reaching that shelf that's too high in the kitchen!"

"Brace! This'll be a rough landing!" Izuku warned, wings and halo appearing a second later.

The concrete splintered with a sharp crack as Izuku's feet met the ground, thankfully sparing Mei and Ochako due to the massive height difference. While the landing might've rattled the three girls, Izuku was none the worse for wear. Easily taking the impact like it was he didn't even feel it, which granted, he didn't.

"Nice work Hatsume." The angel praised now that they had a moment of reprieve.

"Don't thank me, my babies did all the work!" Mei tenderly patted her gauntlet. "Ah, momma loves you all!"

'Good to know she enjoys her work at least.' Izuku let out a low, amused chuckle.

"Midoriya, we have Hagakure coming in for another attack!" Ochako warned from his side.

"Kodai's team is also making their way towards us." The vine-haired girl added, noticing her classmates. "It appears we find ourselves caught between two teams."

"Clever." The greenette muttered. "Alright, tactical retreat for no–"

"Ah!"

His angelic senses alerted Izuku to the threat from behind, causing him to quickly shift to avoid a familiar dark figure from swiping Ibara's headbands. The sudden jostle caused said girl to let out a surprised yelp, resulting in her leaning too far back. She would have fallen off if not for Izuku's hands quickly wrapping around her thighs, locking them in place and preventing their rider from being lost.

'Oh my god–oh my god–oh my god!' Izuku's face turned more red than it ever had in his life. If he was still human he might've passed out right then there. "S-s–sorry Sh-h–hiozaki!" He stuttered as his blush continued to intensify.

"It–it's ok!" If he had turned to look up at the girl he would have seen that her face was nearly as red as his.

"Hey flirt later! We got company!" Mei chastised bluntly.

Giving an awkward sputter, Izuku turned his attention to his new opponents, with four very familiar faces. Bakugo sat on top as the rider with Kirishima as his horse, while being flanked by both Mina and Tokoyami. The greenette couldn't help a grin from spreading across his face as he faced the new challengers.

"Pretty sneaky of you, Tokoyami." Izuku smiled, muscles tense in anticipation. "You nearly had me there."

"Ah, I should have known it wouldn't have been that easy." The shadow user offered the same grin. "I'll be sure to not miss next time."

"I wish you the best then." The teen challenged.

For a moment neither team moved, caught in a standoff that reminded Izuku of those wild west movies he's seen. Both teams glared at one another, biding their time until the first move was made.

"..."

"..."

"Hi Midori!" Mina waved, popping her head out from the side.

"Hi Mina."

Without another second wasted, Izuku bounded forward, his wings materializing behind him. Seeing the charge Bakugo had used his quirk to launch a series of explosions, propelling his own team to meet the greenette's charge. The blonde's team was ready, fully preparing for the other team to rush straight forward as they had done at the start.

What they didn't expect was for Izuku to easily fly over them, despite having his teammates attached to him.

"And Team Midoriya takes to the skies again!" The radio host announced excitedly. "You'd think that flying with three people attached would be difficult, but Midoriya is making it look easy!"

"I have no doubt that Uraraka's quirk is at play." Aizawa offered his own commentary. "Putting the rest of the team in zero gravity likely makes it significantly easier for Midoriya to maneuver around."

"Hey!" Bakugo shouted indignantly. "Get the fuck down here and fight me!"

"Make it to round three and we'll see Bakugo." Izuku taunted from the air.

"Dark Shadow, bring them back down!" Tokoyami commanded, his quirk manifesting before him.

"WAHOO! LET'S GO!" The sentient shadow hollered as he dove towards the group.

"Hold on!"

With a split second reaction, Izuku sharply dodged to the side, avoiding the shadow and its outstretched talons. As quickly as he avoided the first attack, Izuku instantly moved to counter another. As fast as lightning, the angel twisted out of the way, grabbing a slimy appendage that was aimed towards Ibara.

It took him a second to realize that he had caught Tsuyu's tongue.

"Sorry Asui!" Izuku apologized as he tugged on the appendage. Pulling the girl away from her team and tossing her to the side.

"As quick as you I fear that being in the air is proving to be more detrimental than helpful." Ibara said, using her vines to protect against Dark Shadow.

"You're right, if we fall then we'll be at a massive disadvantage." The teen agreed. "Uraraka deactivate your quirk once we're back on the ground."

"Got it!"

Using his wings to zigzag in an unpredictable pattern, Izuku eventually landed back to the ground with another earth splintering crash. No sooner did he land did the weight of Ibara return. Unfortunately for Team Midoriya they had little time to make any sort of move as they soon found three cylinder shaped objects at their feet.

Objects that Izuku quickly identified as flashbangs.

"Cover your eye–"

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

The grenades went off with three loud, disorienting flashes, causing Team Midoriya and everyone else that was close by to become temporarily blinded. Thankfully for his team, Izuku was the first to recover, turning towards where the projectiles had been thrown.

Unfortunately, by that time it was already too late as Team Todoroki had seized upon their opportunity. The half-half user had formed a thick sheet of ice that had frozen over not just Izuku's feet, but Ochako's and Mei's as well. Once her sight had returned, Ibara quickly got to work using her vines to chip away at the ice.

"Like I told you Midoriya, I am objectively stronger than you." The teen repeated as he approached.

"Your arrogance will be your undoing." Izuku replied back lowly.

Unaware of all but Izuku Light began to course through his body, he could feel his power becoming stronger with each second. The ice was far too thick for Ibara to pierce through in time to stop them from stealing their headbands. Plus, the sheer vanity that Todoroki continued to express began to grate on the greenette's nerves.

So, Izuku made the decision that cutting loose just a little bit was ok. With a harsh yank, Izuku freed his leg from the icy prison, Light coursing through the limb like a volcano ready to explode.

"Diffringo!"

Shouting loudly, the teen brought down his foot to the ground, the power of the Father felt in his strike. The icy sheet that had been formed easily shattered into a million different pieces, tiny crystals clattering to the ground like broken glass. But it didn't stop there, Izuku's Light also created a sizable fissure in the ground.

Causing the earth that the other contestants were on to tremble. It was akin to being shook by a minor earthquake.

"Wo–woah!" A girl with horns flapped her arms frantically.

"What kind of quirk do you have?!" A bug-like student shouted in annoyance.

"Damn, Midoriya ain't holding back huh?" Kirishima grunted, having to use his harden to maintain balance. "It's getting me all fired up!"

"OP!" Mineta cried from within Shoji's arms.

"I fear our chances of success have drastically decreased!" Tenya advised Todoroki. "It would best to retreat and–"

"No." The ice user flatly rejected.

"Listen to your teammate. This is not a fight you want." Izuku said with a warning tone.

"..." Todoroki simply stared passively.

A second later, a large glacier was sent towards the greenette, giving him his answer without the need for any words.

'Predictable…yet disappointing.' Izuku internally sighed.

Rearing his arm back, the angel let out a shout as he threw a punch that broke apart the approaching wave of ice. Chunks of frozen glass flew past Izuku and his team, their eyes protected thanks to Ibara's vine shield.

Without even needing to give an order, the greenette moved forward, his teammates preparing themselves for the oncoming clash. Breaking through the glacier with inhuman speed, Team Todoroki had little time to react as they were met with Team Midoriya charging towards them. This time the vine haired girl had used her quirk in order to shape her hair to resemble that of a large drill.

Making the ice wall that Todoroki constructed in order to protect his team useless as it was easily pierced by a drill of vines. While Denki and Momo froze in shock from the suddenness, Tenya reacted in their stead. Using the engines in his legs, the glasses wearer shot to the side, narrowly avoiding being touched by Ochako's quirk.

"What are you waiting for?!" The half-half user' monotone broke into an annoyed tone. "Get them off us!"

"A–alright I–I just n–need to think." Momo stuttered, the pressure being too much for her.

"I got it!"

Energy crackled in Denki's hand as electricity began to gather, creating wild sparks that danced eagerly in his palm. Once Team Midoriya was within range, he held out his hand and shot the concentrated blast directly towards Izuku.

'I know I can take it, but how much will slow me down.' The greenette frowned. Wanting to avoid being electrocuted without giving up the pressure he was putting on Todoroki. 'Guess I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it.'

"God protects all that are righteous!" Ibara exclaimed with a determined look.

Her vines quickly shifted to form a sort of armor that absorbed the blast of electricity sent towards Izuku. He watched with slightly wide eyes as Ibara easily absorbed the blast easily and without slowing down even slightly.

'That's right, vines don't conduct electricity.' The angel remembered. He was really glad she had decided to join his team. "Thank you Shiozaki!"

With their attempt to hinder him made useless, Izuku continued to charge forward, breaking through Todoroki's ice like it was wet paper. He could see that Momo still seemed to be struggling under the pressure. Meaning that their main source of stopping him was currently not available.

"Recipiro Burst!"

Thankfully for them, they were saved by Tenya's quick thinking once again, using his engines to their fullest to clear the distance. While Izuku would have preferred to pursue, he was forced to stop and face two teams of 2 that had decided to attack.

"Hatsume–cover!" Izuku ordered.

"Go, my babies! Make momma proud!"

From her jetpack, the pinkette procured three circle shaped objects that were thrown towards the two teams. There was a series of small beeps before the spheres were set off, creating a loud concussive blast. The girl with the horns and a beast-like boy were brought to their knees as the noise overloaded their senses.

"Too loud!"

"Ah my ears!"

"Hatsume stun grenades!" Mei turned back towards the camera, giving another grin and thumbs up. "Perfect for disorienting your foes!"

"Win now–advertise later–Uraraka zero gravity!" The angel lightly scolded before giving his next command.

"Right!"

With his teammates becoming weightless again, Izuku used his wings to propel them some distance away from the rest of the teams. The brunette deactivated her quirk once they had touched solid ground once more. Izuku took a calming breath, glancing around to see that Team Todoroki and Team Bakugo had reoriented themselves once more.

It was almost cinematic how the three top teams were perfectly facing one another, creating a three way standoff. Like cowboys preparing for a duel, they glanced between one another, sizing one another up before they make their attack.

"Time's running low! Best get those points while you can!" Present Mic announced, only furthering the stakes. "I don't know about you folks but I'm on the edge of my seat! I think we're in for a climactic final battle!"

The tension was quick as the three teams realized the true stakes of this battle. And for a brief, tense moment not a muscle was moved by any of the contestants.

Then all hell broke loose.

Without warning Team Todoroki surged forward, propelled by Tenya's engine legs straight towards Izuku. Momo, who seemed more composed now, pulled out a blunderbuss from behind her back, a comical sight really. There was a loud bang, and a miniature cannonball was sent towards the group, with Todoroki conjuring two walls of ice to prevent them from escaping.

'Like that will stop us.' Izuku tense his muscles waiting with inhuman patience.

"Uh hey Mr. Million I don't have any babies that can stop that!"

"My vines will most assuredly be decimated should I try to defend."

"Don't worry guys." It was surprisingly Ochako who remained calm amongst the three. "Midoriya's got this."

"Wha–"

*Tink*

Like he practiced before, Izuku waited until the cannonball was within striking distance before sending his fist to meet the projectile. The parry was executed flawlessly, with the cannonball being shot straight into the sky where it disappeared with a final twinkle.

"D-di–did Midoriya just punch a cannonball into space?" The host took off his glasses and stared dumbfounded in the air.

"It isn't the first time he's done this believe it or not." Aizawa added passively.

"...seriously, what are you teaching your kids?"

"Let's go!" Izuku bellowed, rushing forward towards Team Todoroki.

Team Midoriya opened with a throw of conclusive grenades while using Ochako's quirk to gain additional height over the other team. While Todoroki was able to freeze the projectiles, he only managed to conjure a thin sheet of ice above him. Ice that easily broke beneath Izuku's feet as he slammed into the ground with a great amount of force.

"Heads up–ten o'clock!" Mei warned.

Sure enough, Team Bakugo had decided to join the fray with the group engaging with another strike from Dark Shadow. This forced Izuku to back away from Todoroki, giving a low huff when Mina used her quirk to spray a low level acid at their feet. Using Ochako's zero gravity, the greenette and his allies were able to avoid being caught in the slippery liquid.

"Sorry Midori!" The pink skinned girl shouted. "No hard feelings."

"I don't think Todoroki's team feels the same."

"Wha–ah!"

The distraction had allowed for the half-half user to use his ice to immobilize Team Bakugo, earning an annoyed scowl from the blonde. Thrusting his palms out, Bakugo let out a series of explosions that offered as cover for his team. The resulting explosions had managed to form a sizable smoke cloud that covered the team.

"HA HA HA YOU'RE ALL IN FOR IT NOW!" From the smoke larger, more assertive Dark Shadow emerged. Cackling with malicious laughter.

'So, they used the smoke to empower Dark Shadow. Clever but it might backfire if Tokoyami can't control him.' Izuku noted with a critical eye.

"Yaoyorozu light now!" Todoroki ordered sternly.

"On it!"

Using her quirk, the girl managed to produce a medium sized searchlight from behind her back. Gripping the device firmly, she flipped the switch, creating an intense beam of Light that was instantly aimed in Dark Shadow's direction.

"GAH! TOO BRIGHT!"

With Tokoyami's quirk beginning to decrease in size, Izuku and his allies took the opportunity to rush towards Team Todoroki. Tenya's attempt to outmaneuver them once more was met with failure as Ibara had quickly seized one of his legs with her vines. Using considerable effort on her part, the girl was able to successfully pull the other teen off balance.

The half-half user was forced to create a block of ice to prevent Tenya from tumbling to the ground completely. Izuku watched with narrow eyes as the teen let out a frosty breath, a faint but noticeable shiver wracking his body.

"Don't forget about us!"

Before they could seize upon the opportunity, Kirishima had decided to charge forward, a wild grin on his face. A simultaneous attack with Dark Shadow and Bakugo's explosions forced Ibara to quickly throw her vines up in a shield around herself once more. Izuku met the hardened red head on, both teens locked in a bind with their arms pushing against one another.

It didn't take long for a loud creaking sound to be heard as Izuku began to overpower Kirishima's strength. With a firm push he managed to force the other teen to take a step back in order to avoid being toppled over.

"Man…you're pretty tough Midoriya." Kirishima huffed, struggling to maintain against Izuku's overwhelming strength.

"You're pretty strong yourself." The angel complimented back. His face splitting into a devious grin. "Hope you know how to fly."

"Fly?" The red head tilted his head in confusion.

*Boing*

From beneath his feet, Mei's portable jump pad formed, the girl sneakily throwing a capsule at his feet while he was preoccupied with Izuku.

"Dark Shadow! Return and protect us!" Tokoyami shouted. Abandoning his battle with Team Todoroki, the shadow rushed back towards its user, using its enlarged body as a makeshift safety net.

"We're down to the wire folks, only thirty seconds left!"

"Uraraka, Hatsume, Shiozaki! Time for the big one!" Izuku said, wings outstretched and ready.

"Right!"

"You got it Mr. Million!"

"By your lead, Midoriya!"

Rushing forward used the extra height gained from the jump pad along with a flap of his wings to propel himself and his team high into the air. With a carefree smile, Mei began throwing her remaining concussive grenades in a circle formation. The epicenter of the ring was what Izuku was focusing on.

His Light began to accumulate, an unseen orb that began to grow larger with every passing moment. Soon the power that Izuku summoned was ready to be unleashed, divine energy flowing through every fiber of his being. And it was time for his opponents to get a taste of the power of an angel.

His wings disappeared behind him, causing the greenette to plummet towards the ground at an alarmingly fast rate. Concentrating his Light within his hand, Izuku pulled his arm back, fist clenched as he approached the ground.

"In His name…" The angel began, brow knit in determination. "Occido!"

*Crack*

Upon slamming his fist into the ground, giant fissures formed from the point of impact. Creating a large web of cracks that stretched several feet. If anyone were paying attention they might have noticed the faint, golden glow that could be briefly seen within the cracks. Apparently he had gathered too much Light, forcing some of it to be expended into the earth.

"It is thy Father that protects us!" Ibara shouted in her battle cry.

Her vine hair snaked wildly before it plunged deep into the center where Izuku had just struck. From below vines traveled the now fracture rock, like a colony of insects burrowing their way through the makeshift tunnels. Once she had reached her limit, Ibara clasped her hands together, offering a short prayer towards her savior.

Not a moment later did large spikes of vine hair emerge from the open cracks, filling a section of the arena with a maze of thorns and vines. Team Midroiya had the most protection, with a dome-like structure surrounding them. And with Ochako's quirk being used to make the rest of the weightless, the ball of vines could become mobile.

*Bzzt*

Of course, that scenario was never bound to happen as the buzzer rang loudly, signaling the end of the second round. The thick maze of vines made it nearly impossible to reach the group even with a powerful quirk. Team Bakugo and Todoroki's effort were proof of that as both teams had barely managed to carve a third of the way through the maze.

With the round definitively over, Ibara retracted her vines from beneath the ground, giving a small pout as dust and pebbles fell from her hair. Helping her down from his shoulders, Izuku offered a sheepish smile, lightly patting her head to clear some of the debris. An effort that rewarded him with a grateful smile that made his face blush lightly.

"You all did great out there." Izuku praised, turning to face all three of teammates. "I'm glad I got to work with all of you."

"Pleasure was all mine Mr. Million!" Mei grinned toothily. "I wanted to be seen and oh boy did you make sure we were front and center!"

"I'll admit it was a bit scary at times, but I had a lot of fun." Ochako added with a smile. "Thanks for choosing me to be on your team."

"And yet despite your fear your resolve burned brighter in face of adversity." Ibara complimented the brunette. "It has been a delight working with someone as brave as you. The Lord truly does smile upon me this day."

"What a match folks! So epic battles, we here at U.A really know how to pick them huh?!" Present Mic's voice boomed across the stadium. "But only the top four teams will be making it to the next round!"

"Let's see those results!" Midnight proclaimed, flourishing her whip towards the screen.

'First Place: Team Midoriya'

'Second Place: Team Bakugo'

'Third Place: Team Todoroki'

'Fourth Place: Team Shinso'

"And there you have it folks, these are the teams that will advance onto the final round!" The radio host announced enthusiastically. "But don't feel down if you got eliminated because up next will be the Recreational Games!"

Izuku watched with a smile as Mei and Ochako cheered excitedly, Ibara standing to the side and offering a more calming celebration. However, his smile soon became a small frown as he turned his head and watched Todoroki storm out of the arena. Momo was wearing a sullen look with Tenya and Kirishima at her side trying their best to console her.

It didn't take a genius to deduce that something unpleasant was exchanged between the two teens.

'I think I see what Aizawa-sensei keeps complaining about.' Izuku sighed, already deciding to confront the half-half user. 'Problem children indeed.'

"I would never simp."

*Ibara walks into the room*

"At your service my queen."

Decided it would be fun to sprinkle in a few cute moments between green 1 and green 2, hope those that are here for the ship enjoy it.

Things are probably gonna be a lot slower in the next chapter, focusing more on characters and how they interact with each other. And yes, there will be more Izubara in the next chapter, but they'll just be one aspect that will be looked at. You might be surprised who is getting more attention in the next chapter.

Before anyone says anything, yes I plan to have things play out like it does in canon with Ojiro and Shoda dropping out being replaced by two characters from 1-B. I won't say who cause I want it to be a surprise.

Final note, I mentioned it in my latest Re:Zero chapter but I'm just going to repeat here just in case. I've been getting requests to use my works by other people. I'm well aware it's probably content farming, I just want to put it out there that I have zero care for anyone using my work. Take it and do whatever you want with it, whether it be make a reaction fic or straight up steal it, I don't care. I believe that at the end of the day people who enjoy my stuff will eventually find me.
