Universityof Louisville. Louisville, Kentucky. The next morning.

Johnse Hatfield slowly opened his eyes and found himself looking at the inside of a house that was nicer than any he had ever seen before. As he slowly tries to sit up, he found that he was lying on some kind of couch and that he was ass naked; except for a blanket with the image of a cardinal on it.

"What the Hell..." Johnse muttered as he rubbed his head.

"You're finally awake!" A young man exclaimed as he walked over to Johnse. "You been out for damn near 12 hours, worried you was going to be in a coma or some shit."

"Where am I?" Johnse asked as he sat up on the couch.

"University of Louisville, in Kentucky. This is a townhouse that I'm sharing with 2 other guys." The guy replied.

"Louisville, ain't that damn near 3 hours from the Tug?" Johnse asked in surprise, since he had no idea how he'd gotten there.

"Me and my boys was camping by the Tug when we came across you." The guy explained. "We thought you'd drowned for a moment, but we decided it wouldn't be right of us to leave you out there in that storm."

"Thank you...I'm Johnse, Johnse Hatfield."

"Stanley Kahl, any relation to the Hatfields of West Virginia?"

"I'm 4 score Hatfield; front to back, dawn to dusk." Johnse replied with pride.

"That's real interesting. Wish I had some famous relatives." Stanley said with a chuckle.

"I wouldn't say we're famous or nuthin...say, what happened to my clothes?" Johnse inquired.

"They was cold and wet from you being in the river, so we hung them out to dry. Should be OK now." Stanley explained as he motioned to a rack with Johnse's and Roseanna's clothes on it.

"Oh God...where's Roseanna, is she ok?" Johnse asked nervously, grabbing his blanket so it wouldn't fall off.

"The lady you were with, she's ok. My boys called their girlfriends over and their upstairs with her." Stanley explained as Nelson Bryant emerged from his room.

"Yo Nelson, he's awake. Said his name is Johnse." Stanley declared as Nelson grabbed a beer from the fridge.

"Nice, Clay's still out from the drive last night." Nelson replied as he grabbed Johnse's britches and threw them to him.

"If you've woken up already, hopefully Roseanna won't be too far behind." Stanley replied as he went to rouse Clay from his slumber.

Roseanna McCoy eventually woke up in a bed that was more comfortable than the pallet that Mrs. Hatfield had prepared for her the night before. As she sat up and rubbed her eyes, she saw that she was wearing nothing but a blanket.

"Good, you're finally awake." Roseanna turned to see a dark skinned girl sitting next to the bed. She didn't look like the negroes she had seen when Ol' Randall had taken the family to Louisville on a business trip/vacation, perhaps she was an injun.

"What happened?" Roseanna inquired as she rubbed her head.

"My boyfriend and his room mates found you and that blonde beefcake when they were camping at the Tug River. They'd thought you were drowned for a moment." The girl said with a chuckle as she took Roseanna's dress off the door and handed it to her.

"She's alive!" Another girl, who was white, exclaimed as she barged in while Roseanna was putting on her dress.

"Hi...my name's Roseanna." She said as the 2 girls watched her curiously.

"My name's Maya and this here's Kollene." The dark skinned girl replied as the white girl grinned at her.

"Nice to meet ya." Roseanna said with a weak smile as she finished dressing herself. "Do ya know where Johnse is?"

"Yeah, he's downstairs with Nelson and the guys." Kollene stated as Roseanna quickly made her way out of the bedroom and down the stairs where she saw Johnse conversing with 3 guys.

"Oh my God, Johnse!" Roseanna exclaimed as she ran over and leapt into the arms of her own true love.

"Roseanna, my beautiful sweet darlin, I was worried that you wasn't ever gonna wake up." Johnse said as he covered her forehead, cheeks, and lips with eager kisses. The others stood idly by, watching the displays of affection; not wanting to interrupt the lovers. Eventually, Johnse and Roseanna broke their loving embrace and turned to their reassures.

"We can't thank ya'll enough for saving us." Roseanna said with gratitude in her voice.

"It's no problem, the boys couldn't just leave you to drown at the Tug." Maya replied as Clay had finally joined them by this point and was taking a good look at the clothing that Johnse and Roseanna wore.

"Yo, where in the Hell did you get them threads?" Clay asked in surprise as everyone looked and saw that their wardrobe was indeed out of place. The couple in question however, felt that everyone else's clothes were weird.

"We could say the same thing about what ya'll are wearing." Johnse shot back.

"Those look like they came out of the 1800's or some shit." Kollene remarked.

"They should, it is 1880." Roseanna said innocently as everyone besides Johnse looked at her like she was high.

"Um...no, the year is 2018." Stanley remarked as Johnse let out a chuckle.

"You're joshing us." He said, not believing his ass.

"He's right, it's 2018." Nelson said as he pulled out a Louisville Cardinals calendar and showed it to the couple. As they looked at the days, it finally dawned on them why the house looked so strange. There were so many lights and fancy looking machines, this must be the future.

"Johnse..." Roseanna muttered as she fainted in his arms.

"Damn...we wanted to get away from our daddies, but this is plumb crazy." He remarked as he laid Roseanna on the couch as he tried not to faint himself from the news that he had just received.
