"Has anyone seen, Juliet?" I was close enough to where he was that I heard his voice before seeing him. He came around the food tent, which probably meant somebody had pointed him in the right direction.

"Hey," Jack looked at me critically as I helped Kate move some cooking supplies underneath a tarp. Since we couldn't take it with us, we decided to leave it for someone else, supposing they landed on this island. I hoped they didn't. This island was unforgiving and could do all sorts of horrible things nobody wanted to deal with.. "I thought we agreed to you resting before we went to the submarine."

"I'm fine, Jack. All I've been doing is resting for the past three days. If I spend any more time in my tent, I'm going to tear it to shreds before we're ready to leave. I may not be able to lift anything or help carry supplies. What I do know is i have two hands and I'm going to help in any way that I can."

"I'm not letting her carry any of the heavy stuff," Kate assured him, walking by with some heavier items in hand.

"I know my limits," I told him, taking extra care to bend down carefully to pick up a homemade ladle someone had carved, my fingers rubbing over the smooth surface. One thing this island had taught me was we all had strengths, weaknesses and hidden talents.

"You still need antibiotics for at least the next five days, so meet me in the medical tent when you're done here."

"He's determined to get you off this island." Kate looked up to where he had disappeared before setting some plates gently on the ground next to everything else on the tarp. At one point, I stepped to stretch my back, feeling the slight pull of my stitches. "I think that's everything."

"Never thought I would see the day when we wouldn't use any of this ever again." Using the back of my hand to wipe the sweat off my brow, I took a minute to gaze upon the pile of everything we were leaving behind.

"I know what you mean. Who needs real cooking supplies anyway?" Kate teased, smirking in my direction. "Go, I've got the rest of this." I hesitated momentarily, turning in the direction of the medical tent and walked in.

"Have a seat." Jack stretched his hand out to the chair next to him. He looked as if he had already been preparing everything he needed when I walked in. "Any more pain in your stomach?"

"No, more tired at times."

"I still want you resting if you're going to walk to the submarine. We'll know by tonight if it's fixed, which means we'll probably start heading out tomorrow." Feeling a small prick in my arm, the pain went away a few seconds later.

"I'm fine."

"I know I wasn't the model patient after my surgery. I wouldn't suggest you doing the same. I was wrong for going against your orders and trying to play the hero. My recovery was a lot slower than I thought it would be."

"I'll admit, doctors make bad patients. It comes with the territory. All these years I've been the person who delivers babies. Now we're about to leave this island, and I can no longer sit around and not help."

"Your passion for leaving this island has never left. I'm not about to give up on that promise." Discarding the used syringe into a makeshift hazard box, he turned back to me one more time.

"At least rest until dinner. Make sure you eat. You're going to need all your energy to make it to that submarine." Rubbing at my arm, I returned to my tent. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to lay down for a little while.

"Juliet," Claire called to me softly while standing near the side of my bed. "I brought you something."

"Thanks." Sitting up slowly, I took the plate from her. I felt her hesitation but I wasn't quite awake enough to address whatever was going on. I had a sneaking suspicion that it had something to do with last night.

"I'm sorry I rushed out on you the other night. You would think I had better social skills living on an island full of people."

"Everything okay?"

"I was hoping I could get some advice. I've felt a little off. At first, I thought it was because I was anxious about leaving the island."

"Off how?"

"My period is late."

"Have you and Charlie-"

"There were a few times we got carried away. We debated waiting to start a serious relationship until we got off the submarine. After realizing what this island can do and take away, we decided not to wait."

"I hear you on that. Are you throwing up? What other symptoms are you having?"

"I'm tired, nauseous, moody. Everything hurts all the time. I threw up once when I was out with Charlie. He was the only one who knew about it until now."

"Are you worried we won't get off this island?"

"That is a concern of mine. I know from experience we hope for one thing and it doesn't happen." I didn't have to say anything to know what she meant. "From everything we know

about pregnancy on the island, I want to know if I should be worried."

"I can't say pregnancy isn't still a concern after we buried the hatch. If it is, we have at least a couple months to get you off this island." Holding up a hand, I saw panic run across her expression. "Let's not go there yet until we're certain we have something to worry about."

"So, what do we do?"

"Jack mentioned the submarine should be fixed by tomorrow. We go from there. If I try to do anything right now, Jack would probably kill me if I tried."

"I wouldn't doubt that. I heard about what happened before you had surgery." She looked down at my tray of food like it was going to jump out at her. "I should probably let you eat before your food gets cold."

"Please, stay. If we're being honest I'm not that hungry and could use the company. That is if the smell of food isn't making you feel sick."

"Jack warned me you haven't been eating." Claire pulled up a chair to the side of my bed, taking my invitation with a smile. "I know my brother can be a bit of a handful, but he does care."

"I would be worried if he didn't." I took a bite of mango. It was juicy and full of flavor. Honestly, felt good to have something in my stomach, and for my body not to completely reject the food I was eating for once.

"Charlie picked the fruit this morning."

"Tell him it's delicious."

"I will. I see you're all packed." Looking down at my open bag of clothes, I had some shirts and other items I wanted to bring home with me.

"I started on the day I had surgery. I was trying to keep myself busy "

"Did you mean to walk into the forest?"

"No. I was tired and hurting. I wasn't thinking straight."

"Jack said you tripped on a vine?"

"I had a lot of things on my mind. I wasn't watching what I was doing."

"That's not like you."

"So I've been told." We shared a slightly humorous look as I took another bite of my mango off my fork.
