Accidents Happen
"Hi Chuckie," Chas said, lifting his son up and giving him a kiss. Chuckie though wasn't as bubbly and giggly as he normally was. "Aw, are you upset about your little accident?" Chuckie nodded. "Well its okay. Accidents happen, little guy. You JUST learned how to use the potty… and it only happened when you were asleep."
"That's right," Didi said. "And it actually makes me think it might be a good idea to invest in some leak-proof sheets… get Tommy used to them before we begin looking to potty train him." She looked over at Tommy but the baby in question just turned away from her, making Didi sigh.
"What's wrong, Didi?" Chas asked, setting Chuckie down; he had been planning to leave but seeing how down his friend was…
"Oh, Tommy and I have hit a rough patch," she admitted. "After the whole thing with Goober and Reptar he doesn't like being around me. And Stu isn't happy either… I spent far too much on Goober stuff and while Dil likes it-"
The baby in question giggled and clapped his hands.
"-I see now I went overboard. I just don't know how to make it right." She sighed as she looked over at Dil. "And then there is Tommy and Dil."
That caused the baby to pause his cheers.
"What's wrong with Dil and Tommy?"
"They just don't seem to be bonding," Didi said. "Or they begin to bond and then Tommy pulls away. Dil broke Tommy's Reptar doll yesterday and now he refuses to be near him. I thought about trying to get them toys they could share but Dil just demands them all… he doesn't understand how to interact with the others."
"Yeah, I noticed Chuckie really doesn't like being around him." Chas grimaced as he saw Didi's face crumple; her baby was driving away all his potential friends and she felt like it was all her fault. "IT's okay. Sounds to me like Dil isn't grown up enough-"
Dil didn't listen to the rest (which was how in a few months Dil would be bigger, understand how to play nice, and Tommy and him could bond; after all, Tommy and Chuckie had only really bonded when Tommy began walking). No, all Dil heard was 'grown up' which he knew was something plants did… and his mommy had planted Dils and was waiting for them to grow up…
And Tommy would never pick him.
Just like mommy and daddy and grandpa wouldn't either!
"No!" Dil exclaimed suddenly. He wouldn't go unpicked. He'd be more than a Good Dil… he'd be the Best Dil and then EVERYONE would want him and they wouldn't need those other Dils! He would-
His tummy rumbled.
"Uh oh… someone needs a change," Chas said with a sniff.
Dil pouted as his mommy lifted him up. At least he hadn't screamed 'Poopie'. That made him the Best Dil…
…right?
