Cavebabies
Dil looked at Yucky and giggled, grabbing a handful of the green mushy stuff he was having for yum yum time. Tommy had told him it was okay to boop her so if he threw his food at her that would prove he was the best baby and his family would pick him!
"Ew!" Angelica cried out when Dil splatted her.
"Oh, I'm sorry Angelica," Didi said before going up to Dil and shaking her head. "That wasn't nice, Dil."
The baby cringed as his mommy took his bowl away. He knew what 'not nice' meant… not in first place to be picked!
Didi sighed as Angelica complained about the dinner. It felt like the only person in the family that liked her and what she tried to do was Dil. Stu was still annoyed about all the Goober stuff she'd bought, Tommy didn't flee from her anymore but he also didn't run to her with delight, Lou was always complaining about her trying new recipes, and now Angelica was agreeing with him.
She picked up Dil and walked with him, knowing it was time for him to take his nap. "I try so hard, Dil, but sometimes it feels like I can't do anything right."
Dil nodded along with that. He felt the same way.
"I feel like every time I think I know what to do the world shifts and suddenly its wrong."
Like booping Yucky was now bad… yes, Dil could see that.
"I just wish I knew what to do…"
Dil agreed.
Meanwhile in the kitchen Didi wasn't around to hear Stu defending her. "Back in prehistoric times you had to hunt for your food."
"Well, I think me and Angelica are gonna do just that," Lou said, offering her his hand. "Come on, they'll be doin' the early bird special at the retirement home… I bet Lulu will save us a spot. We can have some chicken and potatoes."
Angelica beamed, quite happy with that idea, happily leaping from her seat and taking his hand. She really liked Lulu… she used to live in Britain and told funny stories about her old friend Alucard.
As for the babies they quickly became engrossed in their imaginary game of being cavebabies. Of course because Stu and Didi had put up baby gates by the stairs they weren't able to go to Tommy's room and thus Dil never got to play.
But they were watched by Didi, who sat on the couch and sighed. "There must be something I can do…" she watched as the babies happily moved about the room, giggled and making silly noises to each other. She didn't know what it was… but she promised she would make things right with her and Tommy.
