Chapter 3: Piplup, Pansage, and a Meeting of the Times!
"With Ash's entry into the Unova League secured, our heroes now leave Virbank City behind and set their sights on Undella Town, which is located in Eastern Unova."
As the plane continues its journey towards Undella Town, we see Ash, Pikachu, Iris, and Fraxure looking out the window and saw some Pokémon floating above the surface that strongly resembles a whale with white spots on its back.
"Wow. Wailord, cool." Ash said as we see the rest of his friends looking out the plane window, with Pikachu agreeing with his trainer and Iris saying how she never saw one in person as Fraxure cheered.
"It's truly a sight to behold." Cilan said as Logan was amazed about how many more Pokémon there were in the world, then they saw white birds with sky blue details on its wings and tail, with a yellow beak with a black on the end of its beak, which Ash identified them as Wingull, which Cilan explained how they are common in the Hoenn Region.
"I still don't understand; why are some Pokémon found in some regions while others are not? Is there a reason the Pokémon prefer to stay in their own regions, like due to some habitats that best suit them or something like that?" Logan asked as he still tried to figure out how the world worked around him since waking up.
"Well, I guess the most logical answer would be for how it feels like home to them." Cynthia explained as Logan somewhat understands what she means. "And, Ash, Eastern Unova has several kinds of Pokémon that can be found in other regions." Cynthia explained as the group are surprised to hear that with Logan more excited to see what kind of Pokémon there are as they soon see a town up ahead while watching a Wailord making a splash as the plane started to make their descent towards Undella Town.
As soon as the plane made it's landing, Ash, Pikachu and Logan were the first to exit the plane as they spotted something red in the water with Ash thinking that it could have been something called a Staryu, Iris, Cilan, and Cynthia made their way to catch up with their friends while also being curious as well. What they did not know, was that Meloetta has been secretly following them while trying to stay out of sight. Logan then peered through the water, seeing a starfish with a single glowing red eye in a gold crest and 5 brown arms.
"You can imagine what a popular Unova resort this town is." Cynthia said as the group is starting to like being in the town, with Cilan that the place is great to kick back and relax, while Ash simply states that he wants to compete and that after the junior cup, then it will be time to battle in the Unova League.
"And don't forget, if you win the Junior Cup you'll get to battle the champion, Alder." Cilan reminded Ash.
"I'll bet Undella Town's gonna be crawling with strong Pokémon trainers." Iris thought aloud to the others agreeing as they were unknowingly being watched by the invisible Meloetta.
"Champion Cynthia?" An elderly voice said as our heroes were looking for the source of the voice, turning to see an elderly man coming towards them, with Cynthia greeted the man, now known as Jervis, and asking how he has been doing.
"I'm fine, thank you. So, these must be your guests?" Jervis asked as Cynthia introduced the group to her butler.
"I'm pleased to have the honor of serving you during your stay in Undella Town." Jervis stated as they soon made their way to their transport.
For what our group of heroes didn't know, was that Team Rocket was watching them in a truck as they continued their search for Meloetta.
"There they are." Jessie stated calmly.
"Oh yeah." Meowth said agreeing with her.
"As expected. Together again in Eastern Unova." James said as he zoomed in to where Meloetta was following Ash and the others.
"And just like we thought. Meloetta followed those Twerpies all the way here." Meowth stated.
"Correct, but they haven't the foggiest idea it's been trailing them." Jessie said.
"Shall we grab Meloetta now?" James asked.
"I think we should give it a bit more time. We'd have the Sinnoh champion to rumble with." Meowth answered as they decided what their next move should be.
As the group was marveled by the white limousine that Cynthia has, both Logan and Pikachu thought they saw something moved by them, which confused them as they were about ready to get inside for their travel to their next destination, without realizing that Meloetta got in the vehicle with them.
"Hm. Hey Logan, is everything alright?" Iris asked as she instantly saw the look of uncertainty on her friend's face.
"I don't know Iris, but I've had the strangest feeling that we're being followed ever since we boarded our flight." Logan stated as he looked around his surroundings and tried to see who or what was following them. Cynthia reassured that he must have had quite the ordeal with treating Meloetta, and how he just needed some rest from their flight.
"So, Meloetta's in the car too." Meowth said as Team Rocket started up their truck to secretly follow their target.
As the group of trainers and Champion were driving to their destination, Cynthia explained about how Undella Town is an easy-going place to live, which is where she comes here when she finds the time for a long vacation. The others explained about how they came to this town before, and how Cilan used to come here when he was little with his brothers. Ash and Logan seemed excited to even go on a boat tour to watch the Wailords. Soon the group came across two purple rat like Pokémon with buck teeth and single white whiskers on their cheeks.
"You'll get to see many more Pokémon when we get to the villa. I think you'll be quite pleased." Jervis said as they all looked excited.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Meloetta appeared, sitting between Ash and Logan, surprising the group.
"Meloetta!?" Iris exclaimed as they looked at her in surprise, with Ash getting over his shock realizing that the Pokémon followed them the whole time.
"No wonder I had a strange feeling that we were being followed!" Logan exclaimed as he now knows who has been following the group. "Meloetta must have learned a camouflage move that allows her to not be seen to the naked eye." He theorized, thanks to learning about how Pokémon learn different moves to keep getting stronger.
"It can be invisible when it wants." Cilan theorized as they figured out how it was able to appear and disappear quickly and how she was unidentified on the plane.
"It seems to have become quite fond of Ash and Logan." Cynthia said as Meloetta was talking happily after Ash asked if they really like them.
"You're just the cutest thing. Nice to see you too." Iris greeted with Fraxure greeting the melody Pokémon as well.
"The smile on Meloetta's face only confirms Cynthia's observations. Such a perfect pairing between people and Pokémon." Cilan stated as Meloetta looks so happy.
"So, we have an additional guest. Fine, were almost there." Jervis said as he announced that they are soon arriving at Cynthia's vacation home.
After a long car trip, Jervis opens the doors and introduces the young trainers to their temporary residence during their stay for the tournament. "Awesome." "It's gorgeous." Both Ash and Iris said as they got a good look of the house on the outside. As soon as Jervis opened the door, Meloetta got spooked and suddenly turned invisible, with everyone confused as to what happened.
"Hey. Come on, Meloetta, come back." Ash and Pikachu pleaded as they tried to look for their new friend.
Everyone started to get worried, but Cynthia simply stated that Meloetta appears to be shy, and Iris believed that she will come back. Soon the group entered the house, with Ash and Pikachu making their way to the living room, they soon come across a girl with raven black hair with gold clips on it, a white beanie with half a pink poke ball on it, blue eyes, a mini sweater dress consisting of a black V-neck tank top with a white shirt under it, a very short pink mini skirt, and a red scarf, finally wearing pink boots, and has a blue Penguin like Pokémon on top of her head, are silently sneaking up on them. Soon the girl tapped her finger on his shoulder, confusing the two to look behind them, but the girl is messing with him by avoiding his sight.
Ash asked who was doing that, they turned around and finally got to see it was the girl giving them a smile, with a brief look of surprise turning into excitement as Ash and Pikachu see their old friends from the Sinnoh Region; Dawn and Piplup.
"Hi. It's been a long time, Ash." Dawn greeted with a single wink and her hand in the air, with Ash doing the same thing and then hive fived each other.
"Cynthia gave me the news. You've got all eight badges now." Dawn said as everyone was sitting down while having some tea Jervis made.
"Yeah, I'm all set." Ash said as he then turned to Cynthia, as he now realized that she was the one that was waiting for them during their flight, which she confirmed.
"You're Iris and Cilan. Hi. Professor Oak told me all about you." Dawn greeted them, as they were surprised that she knew Professor Oak.
"Yup, and I'm Dawn. And this is my number one partner, Piplup. Say hi." Dawn said as she introduced herself and her partner, who in turn greeted them with a confident look on its face.
"So, you're the Dawn who traveled all over the Sinnoh Region with Ash." Iris realized as Cilan said that she's a Pokémon Coordinator. Iris asked what the difference is between a Coordinator and a Trainer, with Dawn explaining that Coordinators present their Pokémon partners to look the best they can be, and how she competed together in Pokémon contests, stating that they are the coolest as Piplup did a twirl and a pose to impress the others, as they were amazed by its moves.
"If I may, I'd like to evaluate Piplup?" Cilan asked as Dawn was piecing together that he is a Pokémon Connoisseur, and how he can give them an A-class evaluation.
"I've been meaning to ask, but I never got the chance to know who you are at all." Dawn realized that as she had never met Logan in person.
"Oh. You're right, I was so caught up in everything else, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Logan Rogers, it is nice to meet you, Dawn." Logan introduced himself. "And I have to say, I've never seen a Piplup before."
Piplup soon went up to Iris. "You're so cute and round. And so squishy too." Iris said as she was petting Piplup and pinching its cheeks, while Fraxure looked concern as Iris was holding Piplup. Soon Dawn got her Poke Dex out as she scanned Fraxure.
"Fraxure, the Axe Jaw Pokémon. Since a broken tusk will not grow back, they diligently sharpen their tusks on river rocks after they've been fighting." The Poke Dex said, then Iris asked Ash about Piplups data as she was rubbing her cheek on Piplups cheek. He soon got his gadget out and scanned Piplups data.
"Piplup, the Penguin Pokémon. Piplup's limited walking skills often cause it to fall down, but that never hurts its pride." The voice explained.
"It's true. And it's totally cute." Iris said.
"I wish that you would've let us know that you were going to be in Unova." Ash said to Dawn.
"The thing is, we've both been super busy. Haven't we Piplup?" Dawn said and asked her partner, with Piplup agreeing with her. She revealed that she just arrived to the retreat, and heard that Cynthia is going to be at the Junior Cup Tournament, and how she was at Nimbasa City to watch the Pokemon Musical so she can get as much inspiration as she can for her next showcases, and how she was able to see Elesa's fashion show as well as she had a starstruck look in her eyes.
As the group continued their discussion, Piplup thought it saw something move behind the couch above Pikachu and tried to alert the others, but Meloetta quickly vanished completely.
"Piplup, are you alright?" Dawn asked a little concern, while the others knew what it could be.
"I'll bet Meloetta disappeared when we came in because Dawn and Piplup were here." Iris reasoned as to why Meloetta disappeared as they all agreed.
"H-hey, Ash? What's up?" Dawn questioned as Ash tried to call out to Meloetta to meet Dawn and Piplup.
"Hey, you can come out. Dawn's a good friend of mine." Ash said, but Meloetta did not show up, with Iris making a theory that she already left.
"Well, whatever the case is, Meloetta has so far been the shyest Pokémon that I have ever seen." Logan stated while scratching the back of his head.
"But did I say something wrong? I hope not, Cynthia." Dawn asked worriedly as Cynthia assured her and how it takes a little more time as she sips her steaming beverage. "I hope so. I hope its soon." Dawn said as Ash said that there is nothing to worry about and that they will be introduced soon.
"Wanna meet my new Pokémon first?" Ash asked as Pikachu cheered and how not only Dawn is excited to see what her old friend caught, but how Logan is also curious to see what other Pokémon he has up his sleeve.
We soon find our heroes making their way outside to a battle stadium, there Ash took out five Poké Balls to release his team: an orange pig with black patterns standing on two legs, a crocodile standing on two legs and having black lines on its body, with a most notable detail wearing red glasses over its eyes. He soon saw a small being with big, round eyes with a red stomach and seems to be holding something up to his body, as well as seeing a green serpent with two legs and having a leaf patterned tail on the end, as well as Oshawott appearing as well.
"All of you too!" "Because its introduction time!" Iris and Cilan both shouted out as they now started to reveal their team.
Logan can see that Iris's team includes Fraxure, Emolga, and a giant mole with black and red patterns on its body, as well as three sharp claws on its hands as well as a big spike pointing out from its head. He soon got a close look at Cilan's team that includes a green and gold chimp with a hedge on its head, a giant red crab with its body inside a giant rock, and finally a brown flat fish with a back flipper that is yellow. Logan is surprised that they have so many Pokémon at their disposal.
"Hi there, my name is Logan. It is so nice to meet all of you." Logan greeted.
Iris and Piplup soon came up to the group. "My names Dawn. Nice to meet you." Iris greeted them as the Pokémon happily cheered, greeting the two.
"And now, I think it's a good time to show you my Pokémon pals." Dawn said as Piplup got off from Dawns head, as she soon as she starts grabbing her Poke balls.
"Ready? Come on out and say hi to everyone!" Dawn called out as she threw out five Poke balls with a little twirl to add more style. Soon Logan sees her full team: Piplup, a four legged blue and cream creature with fire features, a giant Pokémon that resembles a Mammoth, a bunny that has a lot of fluff on its body and both of its ears as one ear is currently curled up, a blue and white squirrel that shares a sort of similarity with Pikachu with yellow circles on both sides of its cheeks, and finally a white creature with wings that has red and blue patterns on its body.
Soon, everyone started to interact with each other, and Logan soon saw the bunny Pokémon was almost hiding behind the Mammoth Pokémon's leg, then soon saw how it started to make its way over to Pikachu and started to cuddle with him, with getting a little bit of a laugh seeing Oshawott looked shocked at the both of them and for how his shell dropped from his stomach, and saw how Piplup came over to pick up the shell and put it on its forehead, which soon started to slowly slip from its forehead, giving a look of surprise. Oshawott soon started to laugh as he started to pick up his item, when suddenly the white and blue squirrel came up and kicked the shell high in the air, giving Logan a little laugh as Oshawott had to run on his little legs just to get his item back.
"Aww. So, this little one likes Pikachu." Iris said as it's cute to see them together with Cilan asking if it isn't the sweetest thing that they have seen, with Pikachu giving a shy expression.
The blue and cream Pokémon soon started to give out its own laugh, with Ash calling it Quilava and saying in amazement about how it evolved.
"Hey Logan, ever since all of our Pokémon are already out, why don't you bring yours out." Cilan suggested as he asked his new friend.
"I wish I could, but I'm kind of in a situation with showing right now." Logan stated as he was scratching the back of his head, eyes closed, and giving a nervous smile as everyone was confused by what he means.
"What kind of situation?" Ash asked as he did not understand what he meant.
"Yeah, I mean, it can't be that difficult." Dawn assured.
"I wish it weren't, but the thing is, ever since I came here, I only have one Poké Ball with me and can't seem to get it open." Logan explained as he reached out for his Poké Ball and tried to open it, but it did not budge.
"Have you at least gone over to see Nurse Joy and see if she can help?" Iris suggested seeing and if she was able to help.
"Well, I tried that, but when she was able to get a scan on it, she saw that the Pokémon was healthy, but also said that the Poké Ball was in some kind of locking procedure, so I don't know what to do." Logan explained as his friends were a little surprised by this.
Cilan soon brought his hand up to his chin and closed his eyes, deep in thought about solving the problem. "Do you at least remember what your Pokémon looked like? Maybe then we can be able to unlock it." He suggested.
"I wish I could Cilan, but ever since I've woken up, I've been having a tough time remembering everything about me, the only things that I can remember is my own name, having some kind of bond, and recently, I saw a silhouette of a boy and a dragon during Iris's battle with Cynthia." Logan explained as Ash, Pikachu, Cilan, Iris, Dawn, Piplup, and most of the Pokémon that he knows look at their friend with a mixture of sympathy and surprise.
"I was hoping that if I can remember who I am, then I could be able to participate in the tournament." Logan said in a sad tone as his eyes are covered by his hair.
"Then it sounds like we got some work to do." Ash said as Logan looked at him in surprise.
"You... actually want to help me?" Logan questioned.
"Of course! I mean, what would be the point if you didn't participate just because you have a tough time remembering?" Cilan said.
"Yeah, it would be a lot more fun if we were to battle against each other." Iris stated.
"Even though we just met, I want to make sure to help you in any way I can." Dawn said.
"What do you say, Logan?" Ash questioned as Logan started seeing a silhouette of a boy with spikey hair, a red mark under his left eye, a short sleeve hoodie, fingerless gloves, a vest, rolled up jeans with a belt with an upside-down triangle, and high-top shoes.
"You guys..." Logan said as he looked at them in awe, as he then started to smile. "Alright then, let's make sure that we do everything we can to solve this problem!" he exclaimed as they cheered along with him. As this happened, they did not notice that Meloetta was invisible and was watching them, with Mamoswine growing curious as he was confused about what had just happened.
"Hey Dawn. You want to battle?" Ash asked Dawn. "It's been a long time, and I can't wait anymore."
"Okay, but aren't you entering the Junior Cup?" She responded with a question of her own.
"Yeah. Iris, Cilan, and Logan are entering it too." Ash said as Mamoswine continued to look around himself.
"Cynthia is letting us all stay here. That way, we will all have plenty of time to train and help Logan with his memories until the tournament begins." Cilan added.
"Kind of like a training camp." Ash compared with Cilan agreeing with him.
"Well, now you've got one more." Dawn said with a wink.
"Huh? You too?" Ash asked as Iris asked Dawn if she was going entering as well, and Dawn revealing that she is.
"Yes. This is getting interesting." Ash said.
"I wonder how many trainers are going to compete?" Logan asked himself as Meloetta floated down close to them, which allows Mamoswine to see the invisible Pokémon, alerting the other Pokémon to see it, causing them to be surprised.
"What, Piplup? Again?" Dawn asked.
"I'll bet that means she is close by." Ash guessed.
"Technically, it feels like she is floating right between us, Ash." Logan stated as everyone looks at him in surprise, even Meloetta as he was now unknowingly looking at her in the eyes. "It's all right, you can come out. Dawn is a really good friend, and it would be nice to meet her and her Pokémon right now." Logan said calmly and gently.
Meloetta looked nervous, but she decided to float over to Dawn and revealed herself, catching her off guard and surprising her. "Uh... a Pokémon?" She said in a scared tone as Meloetta got spooked and hid between Ash and Logan.
"Don't worry Meloetta." Ash assured her as she looked over their shoulders, unsure what to believe.
"No need to worry. I'm Dawn. Meloetta, it's so nice to meet you." The Sinnoh coordinator greeted and waved as Meloetta gave a smile and waved back at her. Soon the other Pokémon started to grow fascinated with her, especially Piplup who grew hearts in his eyes the first time seeing Meloetta, causing Oshawott to stop walking and soon saw Piplup looking at the melody Pokémon and back at him, which caused Oshawott to get angry and shook his left paw with fire burning in his eyes.
"It appears that Meloetta if feeling very much at ease now." Jervis said as he and Cynthia were observing the 5 friends from afar on a balcony.
"You're right. It's beautiful." Cynthia agreed.
What our young heroes don't know is that Team Rocket have successfully followed them, and they are spying on them right now from the bushes.
"Target confirmed." Jessie said as the 3 soon gave quiet chuckles as they continued to observe the young trainers, while also curious about who their new friend is.
"Still, I'm curious to know who that new twerp is?" James asked as they looked at Logan.
"Your guess is as good as mine, but there's something about that kid that's not sitting right with me." Meowth said as his comrades look at him with a confused look.
"What do you mean by that, Meowth?" Jessie asked.
"I don't know, but there's something about him that's making me feel a little on edge just by looking at him." Meowth said.
Meanwhile, Logan is getting an uneasy feeling that he was being watched, so he looked out into the forest to see what's out there, but he couldn't see anything because of how Team Rocket was hiding before he could get a glimpse at them. Logan looked concerned about this, and Dawn soon noticed her new friend's expression.
"Hey Logan, is everything alright." she asked as Logan snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Dawn.
"Yeah, I think so. I thought I had a strange feeling that we were being watched from within the forest, but I guess I didn't see anything." He said as he gave a small glance back to the forest and then back to his friends.
"Maybe you're still a little tired from the journey." Cilan suggested.
"Maybe, but I've always had these strange feelings ever since I got here, like how I was able to dodge one of the Bisharp's attacks, and getting the feeling about how Meloetta was following us." Logan said as he looked at his hands, curious to know more about himself.
"Speaking of which, how were able to do those things anyway, it was almost like you were able to know where she was?" Cilan asked as Logan closed his eyes in thought.
"I don't know how it works exactly, but it seems to work on how I'm able to be aware of my surroundings without actually knowing myself." Logan deduced. "But it's not just that, it seems that I can somehow be able to sense some energy flowing through some people, and also Pokémon as well." He said as his friends looked at him in amazement.
"Wow, that's incredible." Ash said.
"Maybe the reason why you were able to sense Meloetta because of how she's a mythical Pokémon." Iris guessed.
"Maybe so, but I still can't believe Meloetta is a mythical Pokémon." Dawn said as they looked at the Mythical Pokémon interacting with their Pokémon.
"Yeah, that's what Cynthia says. But we're still figuring it out." Ash said.
"So, when you were talking about something disappearing, that was Meloetta?" Dawn asked.
"Yeah. Although Meloetta is kind of shy." Ash said as they looked at their Pokemon, they saw Meloetta laughing at Pikachu about something possibly funny. They then see Piplup gets her attention, which caused Oshawott to taps its shoulder in annoyance, which made Piplup whack it away with its fin, causing Oshawott to get angry as he soon stepped back a few feet and then engulphed itself in a current of water. What shocked everyone was of how Oshawott used its power to charge and ram into Piplup, who was lying on the ground, feeling a little bit of pain. Piplup got up as it argued with Oshawott for why it did that.
"Piplup, are you okay?" Dawn asked with concern as she went to check on her partner.
"Oshawott, why'd you do that to Piplup?" Ash asked as he gave a small scowl at one of his partners, hoping to demand getting a reason for that action. Oshawott looked at Ash with a guilty face. "Now say you're sorry." He ordered as Oshawott soon went up and made an apology while bowing a bit. But Piplup turned away from him, rejecting the apology, which caused Oshawott to get angry and get in the Penguin Pokémon's face as they both had angry expressions in their eyes.
"Man." Ash pouted as he doesn't exactly know what to do to fix this mess.
"It looks like Oshawott likes Meloetta." Cilan deduced.
"I'd say Piplup does too." Dawn agrees as they both see Oshawott and Piplup with their backs against each other. "Looks like there's a bit of competition going on." She later said.
"Yeah, I can agree with you on that." Logan replied.
"Okay, guys, Meloetta's finally her, which means time for a battle." Ash said with Pikachu on his arm.
"Just a minute, please." Cilan said as he stepped up and held a hand up in front of Ash. "Hmm?" He was confused at what his friend wanted to say.
"If it's with Dawn, I hope you'll allow me to battle first." Cilan asked.
"Huh? Why you?" Ash asked.
"I want to do an evaluation." Cilan explained as he went up and picked up Dawn's Pachirisu. "To see what a coordinator can do."
"That sounds great! A connoisseur vs a coordinator." Iris said, agreeing with Cilan.
"I'm into that." Dawn said with a fist in the air, feeling pumped up.
"I see no reason why not." Logan said.
"Aww. And me?" Ash whined with Pikachu having a sad face.
"No need to worry. I'll battle you next." Dawn said.
We soon see our young heroes getting ready for a Pokémon, with Dawn on one side and Cilan on the other, and Jervis having the right to be the referee for the match.
"With great humility, I accept the distinct honor of being your battle referee. It will be between Pokémon connoisseur Cilan' and Pokémon Coordinator Dawn. This will be a one-on-one Pokémon battle." Jervis announced as we soon see Ash, Pikachu, Iris, Fraxure, Logan, Cynthia, and Meloetta on the sidelines watching the battle that is about to commence with Fraxure and Pikachu cheering for both of their friends.
"For the evaluation, my talented partner. Presenting Pansage." Cilan called out as he did a twirl and threw his Poké Ball into the air, revealing Pansage.
"We'll just see what a Pokemon connoisseur can do. Piplup, Spotlight!" Dawn called out as she did a twirl of herself and threw her Poké Ball up, revealing Piplup who did a fancy air twirl and successfully landed on both its feet.
"Look at Piplup. Its adorable." Iris called out. Logan was actually surprised at how graceful Piplup was, making him have a strange feeling like how he's seen some people doing a few fancy twirls himself.
"I see. Tasty presentation." Cilan complimented.
"Of course. In a contest, it's important to make a good first impression right out of the Poké Ball." Dawn explained about how it's one of the many duties for a Coordinator.
"Hold on to your hat. Now, Pansage, Bullet Seed." Cilan called out as Pansage did a flip and then fired seeds out of his mouth.
"Piplup, dazzle them both with Drill Peck." Dawn said as Piplup's beak started to glow and then grow larger, while doing a sideways spinning movement in the air.
"Amazing!" Iris said as Piplup started to move around and using Drill Peck to knock away Seed Bullet, even sending some back to hit Pansage.
"It's just like fireworks." Iris said after seeing Bullet Seed being used against Pansage. Piplup then made a perfect landing making a proud pose. "Well?" Dawn asked.
"You turned Pansage's attack against us, while demonstrating the power of your Drill Peck." Cilan explained impressed as Pansage started to get back up.
"Looking good, Piplup. Go, Dawn." Ash cheered alongside with Meloetta and Pikachu.
"Wow, she was able to think ahead and used her opponent's strength and used it against them. I have to say, that was quite the move they pulled off." Logan thought to himself as he looked at Dawn.
"Now sample this. Use Rock Tomb." Cilan ordered as Pansage was forming a sphere over his head, when suddenly the orb started to grow and then revealed a giant rock as it then threw it straight at Piplup.
"Yes. Go get 'em, Cilan!" Ash cheered as the rocks soon started to break into several pieces straight at Piplup.
"I'll use that Rock Tomb. Wait till you see what I can do with it. Okay, Piplup, spin and use Bubble Beam." Dawn called out as Piplup started to spin as he started to fire bubbles from its beak, causing the rocks to slow down and stay in place.
"It's a Bubble Beam Wall." Cilan exclaimed in shock as the Rock Tomb move collided with the bubbles, destroying them in the instance and leaving sparkles. Logan soon had another headache as he looked at Piplup and the surrounding Bubble Beam, he soon saw a vision of a spinning purple top surrounded by a purple vortex. Logan soon shook his head and focused himself back into watching the battle.
"Wow. Was that what I think it was? Ash asked.
"Yep. That was a Counter Shield." Dawn explained.
"Oh, way to go, Piplup." Ash cheered with Pikachu and Fraxure. Piplup then landed again with a look of pride.
"Man, Dawn and Piplup are countering all of Cilan's and Pansage's moves throughout the whole battle." Logan thought to himself. "They must have lots of experience to pull off those moves perfectly and finding the right counter against their opponents." Logan then looked at Ash with curiosity. "Does that mean that Ash will be the same, or maybe even better." As he was looking at him, he could feel himself getting a little excited with a small grin on his face as a small orange aura was surrounding him. "Something tells me that this journey is starting to get interesting."
We soon see Cilan adjusting his green bowtie. "Alright, the much-anticipated evaluation time." He called out while doing a small twirl and striking a pose with his hand outstretched, causing both Logan and Dawn to make a dumbfound expression.
"Look out, hope you've slept well." Iris said to Dawn with both her and Ash gave a nervous sweat drop while Logan made a face that reads 'explanation, please.'
"Now let me see. So far, I've gotten a generous taste of Piplup's powerful, yet elegant contest technique, and my palate tells me it has flavor of both strength and refinement." He said as Pansage was mimicking its partner's movements. "Watching the nurturing love of a true coordinator at work is a joy." Cilan finished with Pansage agreeing with him.
"Guess Connoisseurs love talking as much as they love food." Dawn said with Piplup agreeing with her as they both have shocked faces.
"Now for a token of our respect. A presentation of our most powerful move. Use Solar Beam." Cilan ordered as Pansage started up charging a golden sphere in his hands.
"Alright, then use Ice Beam." Dawn called out as Pansage fired its Solar Beam as Piplup unleashed Ice Beam from its beak, causing both moves to collide and cancel each other out and made it rain sparkles.
Meloetta was so in awe with it, that she started to fly up and happily twirl around the glow, then she landed close to Piplup and started to twirl around it as Piplup looked amazed by her.
"It looks like Meloetta got carried away looking at Piplup's gorgeous contest moves." Cynthia deduced as to why Meloetta was acting like she was having fun.
"I understand. I can't believe them myself." Iris said with a small glimmer in her eyes, with Fraxure agreeing with her as Piplup was dancing with Meloetta. Logan was seeing this and gave a small because of how happy he was to see that Meloetta was making some friends.
Suddenly, Oshawott came out of his Poké Ball, as he was now making an angry face because of how jealous he is seeing Meloetta spending more time with Piplup. When he sees them dancing together with their hands connected to each other, Logan could have sworn that Piplup was giving the otter Pokémon a smug grin, causing Oshawott to shake his paw in anger.
"Looks like things are starting to heat up." Iris said with Ash and Logan agreeing with her.
"I suggest an official timeout." Jervis suggested, Cynthia chuckled in agreement with him. Soon Ash and Logan made their way to Meloetta and Piplup and crouched down to talk with Meloetta.
"What do you think? Battles sure are exciting." Ash said. "We're gonna enter that Junior Cup Tournament soon. Hope you'll cheer us on." He said with Pikachu saying the same thing, making Meloetta to nod her head in response.

"Then it's decided." James said while the evil trio are hiding behind some bushes.
"Yes, it appears that Meloetta will be a permanent twerp." Jessie said with Meowth suggesting that it would be best if they were to report to Dr. Zager.
We soon see our heroes relaxing on the balcony while watching a beautiful sunset. Jervis was just offering Dawn and Iris some tea, with the former thanking him for everything that he'd done for them.
"You're most welcome." He replied as Dawn picked up her tea, stating how her next battle will be with Iris, with Iris herself feeling excited and how she can't wait and Fraxure cheering with her.
"Now, now, don't forget." Cilan said, catching Iris's attention and saying how he needs to finish their battle first, and how Dawn forgot quite a bit of that.
"What about my battle?" Ash asked, with Pikachu complaining as well, and Dawn saying how he would battle her after Iris, causing him to reply in defeat.
Logan was deep in his thoughts as he was looking out, seeing the setting sun, as he was processing everything that has happened today, like meeting his new friends, befriending the Mythical Pokémon, having to witness two great battles, and how he has his friends supporting him in getting his memories back before the tournament can start. He soon took out his Poké Ball and held it out as he it was in front of him, blocking the full concentration of the sun with a serious expression.
"Even though I've seen what this world can mostly do and regain some of my memories, but no matter what, I'll be sure to know what you are, and after that, I'll be sure to win the whole tournament by storm!" He thought to himself aloud as he gently tightened his grip on the sphere as it soon cast off a shiny reflection, causing the young man to look confused as he looked closer at the item, wondering had happened. It was like he heard a voice coming from the Poké Ball.
Logan's train of thought was interrupted as he and the others started hearing singing coming from the shores of the water, where they found Meloetta sitting on top of a rock. Soon they were enchanted by the melody as they had their eyes were closed and were feeling good.
"There's something about that song." Ash said with Pikachu agreeing with his human partner.
"True. A beautiful and exotic treat for the ears." Cilan described as they continued to listen.
"And so, our heroes have begun training for the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup and help their friend Logan be ready in time for the event, but now, with Dawn and Piplup as part of the excitement."
As the heroes were listening, they nor Meloetta didn't noticed that Team Rocket were hiding behind some rocks, making a recording of her singing.
"While Team Rocket's sinister plot to capture the Mythical Pokémon: Meloetta quietly unfolds."
Soon it was nighttime, and we can see a small building floating above the water with the Team Rocket logo on the front of the place. We soon see inside where Team Rocket, alongside a man with puffy white hair and curly moustache, a monocle on his left eye, and wearing a white lab coat, were watching a recording of Meloetta's singing.
"We found it, that soundwave is the key we've been searching for all this time." Dr. Zager said as they looked at the readings.
"In a song." James deduced.
"But that bit of Meloetta's song is not enough." Dr. Zager explained. "Of course, if Meloetta's singing, even a part of it, it must be awfully relaxed to let its guard down."
"I wonder if that's because of the twerps?" Meowth asked, with James agreeing that it could be the answer.
"We should get the whole song if we leave them all together long enough." James thought while also asking about what their boss thinks.
"Contact him now, and I'll plan our next move." The Team Rocket scientist declared.
"Right, and I might as well give the boss the news about the new kid we saw." Meowth said as they prepare for their work.
"Why bother, there was nothing at all about the boy you saw." James said.
"Maybe so, but I still can't shake the feeling that there was something about him that he's hiding. Something that might throw off our mission." Meowth said.
'Well, whatever the case is, Team Rocket's most important mission ever has begun.' Jessie said while the bottom showed a silhouette of an oddly shaped mountain.
