Hello my lovely readers! We are back with a new chapter!
This one took a bit long due to work, life, mental stuff etc. but things have now died down.
This is the first two-parter of season two! This time we're leaving the shore for a high seas adventure!
Now, let's continue our story...
Season 2, episode 4;
Not So Smooth Sailing Part 1
A few weeks passed after their latest reunion with Chalice and things at the cottage seem to die down. Audrey was still wary of their new half ghost half chalice friend, but she decided to let that slide for now.
Audrey was in the living room, having a teddy bear placed on his lap, a thread in her mouth, a sewing needle in hand and a worried Mugman next to her.
According to Mugman, he was trying to get a long thread out of his teddy bear, but pulled too hard and tore his arm off. Now, he is a great sewer, as you folks saw in chapter one, but Audrey had her sewing supplies out to work on a sampler and he wanted her to help him.
"Is he going to be ok?" Mugman asked, tears stinging his eyes. "He's my favorite teddy bear, next to the one I had as a baby."
"It's ok, I'm just about…done." She concluded, as she held up the newly fixed teddy bear. "Here you go sweetie."
"Thanks, Miss Audrey." He smiled, as he took the bear and hugged it. "I know it's not a big deal, but I hate to see a toy broken."
"I get that too." Audrey nodded, putting her sewing supplies in her box. "We have a movie back where I'm from where toys come to life."
"Really? That's awesome! Cuphead would be crazy for that."
"Yeah, it's a great film. They actually made more movies on that. I actually got to meet the people who made it and I was over the moon! Disney and Pixar are two of my top favorite studios."
"Wow, you're lucky to meet people like them. I hope I can meet famous people."
"Oh I'm sure you will. No doubt in my mind."
Just then the door opened and Cuphead and Josh entered.
"Hi, honey. We're back." Josh smiled, giving Audrey a kiss.
"Hey, sweetie. How was the aquarium?" She asked.
"It was so cool! We saw sharks, and tons of different fish, and turtles!" Cuphead giggled. "Did you know turtles can breathe through their butts?!"
Audrey held back a laugh. "Wow, I had no idea. You learn something new everyday."
"Yeah. They also had a cute little pirate show at one point." Josh added, sitting on the couch. "They also had other events where kids could meet sea creatures up close like otters or seals. He was more interested in the pirate show."
"Makes sense."
Cuphead sat on Elder Kettle's easy chair and began daydreaming about the pirate show he saw. The sword fight, the cannons blasting, the death-defying stunts and even seeing a few walk the plank. That was really exciting.
But as he thought more on that, the more he wanted to explore that kind of world.
And he knew just the place.
The next morning, after the boys had completed their chores, the heroes walked along the path of the harbor. There were various boats of all sizes and colors, crates moved around on a crane and all a sea port had to offer.
The boys walked in front of the couple, as they carefully made their way down the boardwalk. Since the cups took turns deciding what to do for an activity, it was Cuphead's turn and his destination was the harbor.
Audrey was a bit surprised, considering he would have chosen the monster truck rally or something a bit more action packed. Going to the harbor wasn't exactly 'death defying' but it was still cool to go.
Mugman was munching on a candied apple as he asked his brother.
"What're we doing at the dock? Usually when you pick the next activity, you'd want to do something really adventurous"
"Oh, you'll see." Cuphead simply responded.
They proceeded to walk down the boarded pathway. Audrey had to smile, seeing Mugman gaze around at all that was happening. She appreciated his curiosity and wanting to learn more about the world, despite his cautious manner.
"Tell me, Mugsy, you ever wish you were a pirate?" Cuphead asked, as they dodged a box that was being thrown and casually walked over a dead shark that landed in front of them.
"You know very well I do." Mugman calmly stated.
"Well, all your swashbuckling dreams are about to come true!" Cuphead announced, as they stopped between two enormous ships. "'Cause we're gonna have…a high seas adventure!"
He then gestured to the ship and to their surprise, it was a lot smaller than the two next to it. The ship was a red brick color, two yellow flags, tan sails that were rolled up, green circular windows on the side, and a rope ladder.
It was a beautiful ship, no doubt, but the idea of going on a 'high seas adventure' wasn't what Mugman had in mind.
"We don't know the first thing about sailing." Mugman protested. "We could end up dead!"
"That had to be the most logical thing I've heard." Josh muttered.
"That, my little blue nosed friend, is why it's called an adventure!" Cuphead replied as he playfully snatched his brother's treat.
"Cuphead! I know you're not doing this to be mean, but stealing candy from your brother is horrible to do." Audrey scolded. "Not only that but the way your holding it might attract-"
But before she could finish, a seagull swooped down from the sky and plucked his candied apple right from Cuphead's hand.
"...Never mind." Audrey groaned.
"Ooh, my candied apple!" Mugman whimpered.
"Adventure!" Cuphead cheered.
He then proceeded to climb the rope ladder onto the ship but stopped when his brother protested.
"Wait. Wait. Wait, you can't just climb aboard someone's need permission first!"
"Only if the ship's painted red." Cuphead argued.
"The ship is painted red!" Mugman retorted.
"I wasn't finished. Painted…red-purp-orange!" Cuphead quickly stated.
"Red-purp-orange isn't even a color!" Mugman spat.
"So we're good then!" Cuphead shrugged.
Cuphead continued to climb the rope ladder while his brother turned his back towards the ship, hands across his chest.
"I refuse to board without permission." He informed.
"Suit'cha self!" Cuphead called from below. Not a second passed when the trio heard him cry in excitement.
"Wow, so amazing! Mugman, you gotta see this!"
"Not without permission!" Mugs called back, a bit annoyed. Audrey could see that Mugman wanted to go aboard, but since he was being courteous, he wasn't budging. However, Cuphead's laughter and excitement above made it harder for him to resist.
"Oh, look at this! I can't believe it!"And one of these? I've always wanted one of these! Holy Toledo! Is that...?!"
Cuphead looked over the edge and called out
"Mugman, you're missin' out! You could be havin' a high sea's adventure right now!"
Finally, Mugman could not ignore it any longer.
"Don't you think I want that!?" He shouted, turning to face the ship once more. NOT WITHOUT PERMISSION!"
"Well then, permission to come aboard!" Cuphead announced.
"Yaaay! Haha!" Mugman giggled as he proceeded to climb the rope ladder. Audrey took a sigh. Only Mugman would be excited like that.
"Ok, sooo now we need to get them both off." Josh claimed. "How do we want to handle this?"
"Well, since they just want to explore, I can take care of this." Audrey replied. "How about you go get us some snacks and meet us here?"
"Sounds good." Josh nodded. "Any requests?"
"Hmmm..if they have some of those ritz crackers, that would be great."
"Coming right up. And please don't let them do something they'll regret."
He gave her a quick kiss and skidded off to the nearby snack shop. Audrey then climbed up the rope ladder and came aboard the ship. She was surprised by what she saw.
The deck was a wide space, with tan floor boards, a mass that had a few daggers punctured, two ratlines, a few barrels placed around, a cannon with a few cannon balls next to it, and a small hatch on the ground leading to the lower deck.
To her left, there was a black door with a green door frame around it along with a skull decoration above it, and a stairwell on both sides, leading to the poop deck and the helm.
Ha, ha. Poop deck.
She saw Mugman look around with wide eyes, while Cuphead held his hands behind his back, grinning from ear to ear. As Audrey looked around she couldn't help but wonder why this ship looked so familiar to her. She wasn't sure why she felt this way, but something was very close to home with her.
Mugman's voice interrupted her thoughts as he asked. "Where are all the pirates?"
"I guess they left! And they left all their stuff." Cuphead answered. "Look what I found!"
Then he pulled his hands in front to reveal that he was holding two swords. Ones that were heavy because both his arms collapsed, making the swords hit the deck, causing a crack in the ground. He pulled one back, and before Audrey could stop him, he flung one sword to his brother.
"Catch!"
It missed him, by the skin of his teeth, and it stabbed the side of the barrel that was near Mugsy. He pulled it out, making water pour out, and rushed to his brother, giggling with delight.
They clashed swords but before they could continue Audrey got in the middle holding her hands out on both sides, stopping them.
"Ok, put the swords down! They are very dangerous and honestly it's rather ridiculous that a pirate would leave his ship at the docks unattended."
"But Audrey, no one is aboard and these swords are so cool!" Cuphead beamed. "Heavy, but cool."
"Still, it's not right to be playing with dangerous weapons." Audrey claimed. "Since we got to be aboard the ship, let's put these down and meet Josh at the snack shop."
Cuphead wanted to protest and beg Audrey to let them play for a bit, but then an idea came into his mind.
"You know what, Audrey? You're right." He calmly put.
"I am?" Audrey asked, surprised. "Uh I mean, yeah, I am."
"I know I normally wouldn't like the idea of leaving the ship and going back, but you make a valid point." Cuphead continued. "Children should be in a more safe and suitable area, not a place with dangerous weapons and an old pirate ship."
"Wow, I can't believe you actually think that way." Audrey stated. She wondered why Cuphead was acting like this, especially since he was the one who wanted to go on a high seas adventure.
Then Cuphead smirked.
"Buuuut I know Audrey is always up for adventure and since she's bailing out on a chance to see the vast ocean. But I guess she's not worthy enough to handle that amount of excitement and thrills."
That got her.
"Now hold on a second! I am more than worthy to handle any situation, and I am always up for adventure!"
"Prove it." Both brothers smirked.
"Ok I will. Hand me a sword."
Cuphead did and the three of them began to playfully sword fight around the deck of the ship. As they swung and clashed their weapons and giggled with delight, they failed to see that they were cutting the ropes to the anchor, which made the ship leave the docks, and one to the sails which opened them up, causing the ship to gain a bit of speed.
Josh returned with the snacks hoping to be greeted by Audrey and the boys, but for some reason, he didn't see them or the ship.
"Audie? Boys? Oh man, they ditched me! This is like that time when Steve, Sash and Audie ditched me at the mini mall!"
With the trio, they continued to duel, laughing and clashing without end, until they stopped and Cuphead gestured towards one of the ratlines.
"I call lookout!" He giggled.
The three dropped their weapons, scampered up the rope and ended up in the crow's nest. The boys tumbled in while Audrey carefully climbed aboard. They peered over the edge, gazing over at the vast ocean, and were in awe of its beauty and mystery.
"Wow, look at that ocean." Mugman sighed. "Makes you feel like a real pirate."
"It does give someone a great sense of adventure, seeking to travel the world and discover new adventures." Audrey agreed. "Glad you boys are getting the chance to have new experiences."
"Yeah, it has been interesting to do more than do chores around the cottage." Mugman stated.
"Huh. The shore keeps getting smaller." Cuphead pointed out.
The two looked and it turns out they were indeed drifting away from the shore, as they traveled farther and farther, nearly vanishing from sight.
"Oh yeah. And the ocean keeps getting bigger." Mugman added, looking back towards the vast sea. It took him two seconds to realize the reasoning behind the shore vanishing and the sea getting closer.
"Oh no! We're out at sea!" He cried, his voice echoing throughout the open ocean. He then clung to Audrey's leg in a panic, and screamed.
"Honey, honey, calm down." Audrey kept assuring him, holding him in her arms. She could feel him shake terribly, nearly on the verge of hyperventilating.
"I'm not a real pirate! I'm a fake pirate!" He whimpered, before bursting into tears.
Cuphead, as usual, didn't seem bothered by their surprising voyage, and was beaming with pure delight and excitement.
"Now this is a high seas adventure!" He grinned. He then began calling from the crow's nest as if he were the captain ordering his crew about.
"Anchors away! Hard the starboard! Ready the gangplank!"
"Cuphead, I don't think it's helping-"
Before Audrey could finish, the ship began to shake violently, due to the very high seas. She tried to hold onto Mugman and keep her balance at the same time, but it wasn't very easy. They were tossed from side to side until they fell off, landing on their stomachs.
They groaned as they sat up, rubbing their heads.
"Ok, that was rough." Mugman muttered, shaking the dizziness off.
Instantly, the trio heard the sound of man yawning, coming from the captain's quarters. So, from the sound of things, the pirates weren't gone and didn't just leave all their stuff.
I mean, come on no one would just leave their stuff all willy-nilly.
The door opened and Audrey was shocked to see who it was.
Captain Brineybeard.
The boys were in complete shock, looking at each other and then at him.
"So, that's why this ship looked familiar…" Audrey muttered, as she saw Brineybeard grab a passing green parrot and placed him on his shoulder. Much like the other characters in this world, she began to see the differences with him.
He looked identical to his storybook counterpart, but the brims on his shirt were the same color as the rest of the shirt, and had brown boots instead of peg legs. He didn't seem to see them at first, as he walked past them scratching his side.
He was probably still waking up, striding to a large bag labeled with "100% coco." He reached behind him, as the trio saw he was trying to grab his gold mug with the title of "#1 Captain" on it.
However, he grabbed Cuphead's head and popped it off his body, grabbed a handful of cocoa beans and crushed them in Cuppy's head, presumably making coffee. Mugman wanted to say something but he was too startled to say a word.
Brineybeard started to sip on Cuphead, but he looked at the captain…who saw him. He looked at him in the face, who chuckled nervously. He spat out his drink and dropped his head in the process, landing back on his body.
As Cuphead turned his head forward, Briney approached the trio, glaring at them.
"Yargh! Who dares stow away on the ship of Captain Brineybeard?!"
"Erm, look sorry sir, we didn't know that you were-" Audrey started but then the boys rushed up and grabbed one of his legs, cheering with great joy.
"A real real pirate!" Mugman beamed.
"You can take us on a high seas adventure!" Cuphead added.
"Adventure!? We're going home!" Mugman argued.
"No way! High seas adventure!" Cuphead snapped.
"Home!"
"Adventure!"
"Home!"
"Adventure!"
Audrey groaned. Of course the two would start fighting like this, especially arguing over going back to shore and going on a high seas adventure. Leave it to them to argue over something like this.
Briney was starting to get annoyed. So much so, he grabbed the two by their handles, threw two daggers on one of the wooden poles, simply hung them from their handles and walked away.
The two saw what had happened and stopped arguing. Audrey wondered if this was just a way to get his hands off them. Mugman, however, thought of another reason why he did that.
"He's gonna KILL US!" He screamed, frantically waving his arms around.
"Hey, look, mister, we were just looking for a high seas adventure, that's all." Cuphead protested, his voice shaking.
"It was all his idea!" Mugman argued, pointing at his brother.
"Look, Captain, I understand you're upset for us stowing away, but you shouldn't try to hurt them-" Audrey started, but Briney interjected by barking
"Stop talking and start sniffing!"
He took a deep breath, as his parrot squawked out "Squawk! Start sniffing! Start sniffing!"
The trio was too startled to argue and began to sniff the air. It was rather odd for them to do, but seeing they weren't going anywhere, they didn't have much choice.
"Smell that?" Briney asked, leaning close to them.
"F-fear?" Mugman trembled.
"Fish guts?" Cups gulped.
"Frightening scares?" Audrey asked.
"No!" Briney snapped, startling the trio. "That would be the pungent aroma…oh love."
The three arched their eyebrows in complete confusion. It certainly wasn't the response they were expecting, especially it came from him.
"Love?" the three heroes simultaneously asked.
"Soon, I shall reunite with me girlfriend." Briney explained, stepping over to the side so they could see him. "And this time it'll be…forever!"
He then pulled out a large red heart shaped box, tied with a perfect ribbon around it. Now Audrey was super confused. She never imagined Briney Beard of all people to be searching for his girlfriend.
She always thought he would be more interested in treasure or something. But at the same time, even a pirate can have a sweet spot for people.
"Now the question is, who was his girlfriend?" Audrey pondered. "Another pirate perhaps? A maiden in another land? Who knew."
"Gee, uh, what's in the box, mister?" Mugman meekly asked.
"I could tell ye, but why tell when I can sing it?!" Briney beamed.
Audrey sighed. She should have seen that coming.
*New Song: "Sweets for Me sweets"
Briney: Thaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr Sweets for me sweet (Ha, ha!)
*He hugged the heart shaped box, like he was hugging his sweetheart.
Briney: I win her back with treats (With treats!)
*He playfully bounced near the boys who looked at him with confused expressions.
Briney: I need her like this pirate needs this ship beneath his feet
*He danced up the stairs to the helm, still holding the box in his hands, before turning the wheel.
Briney: A man gets lonely by himself when he's at sea (Lost at sea, lost at sea!) I've missed her since the day she said "Goodbye" (Goodbye)
*He then held a compass which had a red heart in the place of North as the dial spun rapidly before landing on the heart. His face was now sadden, and quickly moved towards the forecastle deck, gazing over the horizon.
Briney: She made me heart walk the plank when she left me. If she don't take me back, I'll surely die!
*The boys looked oddly at each other, as Briney hugged tightly a barrel in his arms, as if he was hugging a stuffed animal for comfort.
Parrot: He's gonna cry, gonna cry!
Briney: No I ain't!
*He shot a glare at the parrot, as his grip became tighter and crushed the barrel.
Briney: (singing) I'm bringin' sweets for me sweet (Ha, ha!) Sweet treats for hеr to eat, Of all the creaturеs in the deep blue sea
*He then returned to the helm, happy as a clam, and navigated through the ocean as Audrey saw many sea creatures jumping out near the boat.
Briney: She makes me life complete!
*He held out his arms belting out the last note as the sea creatures emerged from the water, posing while spitting out water to the side
Parrot: You're adorable!
Briney: Shut up!
*He shot another glare at his parrot, as he perched on his shoulder, shooting him a smug smile.
*End Of Song*
Audrey had to rub her eyes. She was completely shocked about his performance, which was actually really catchy by the way, but the fact that he actually did that and had a fish show in the process. It was a nice touch but she was still bewildered.
"Well, sounds like you two have the reunion planned." Mugman pointed out. "So, if you could drop us off at the docks, we'll get out of your hair."
The Captain approached them, as Audrey felt the ship shake a bit, and grabbed them off from the hooks.
"We ain't turning back til we get me girlfriend back!" Briney argued.
He placed the boys down and walked over to Audrey. Now if memory serves her right, recalling one Popeye the Sailorman's cartoon, women weren't allowed on a pirate ship, since it was considered bad luck. She felt bad that she might miss out on a high seas adventure but she didn't want to complicate things.
"I'm terribly sorry, missy, for treatin' these lads roughly." Briney claimed, gently grasping her hands. "A pirate doesn't make friends across the seven seas."
"No, I get that. Hard to find a crew when you're always on the go." Audrey smiled. "But are you ok with me coming along?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't ye come too?" He asked.
"Well, I know there's a rule that women aren't allowed on a pirate's ship so…" She trailed off.
Briney gave a chuckle. "Oh no, lass. That be an old myth, wanting to scare them off so they couldn't join the fun."
"Ooh that makes sense."
"Besides, like I told the lads, we are sailing off to find me girlfriend."
"Oh, I know! We'll help you get your girl back, and you take us on a high seas adventure!" Cuphead beamed. "It's a win-win!"
"No. He means he'll take us home!" Mugman retorted.
That however set the boys back in their previous argument. Audrey finally had enough and stated
"Look, we can't just leave him just to go home. How about we help him search for his girlfriend and then we can go home? It wouldn't be right to leave him like this."
"If ye do help me get her back, I'll be forever in your debt." Briney vowed. "But I'll be honest with ye; our chances of survival are slim to none. And slim just drowned."
Mugman opened his mouth to protest again, but Cuphead beat him to the punch, and covered his mouth with his hand, causing Mugman's nose to get stuck in his mouth.
"I like those odds! We're in!"
Mugs spat out his nose and placed it back on arguing "Cuphead, are you crazy!?"
That caused the Parrot to screech "Squawk! Cuphead's crazy! Cuphead's crazy!"
"Prepare for the high seas adventure!" Briney announced, giving a hearty laugh.
"Erm, could we make it a medium size adventure?" Mugman asked meekly.
"There's no such thing!" Briney retorted, leaning towards him. Mugman shrank back and rushed to Audrey, clutching her leg. She took him in her arms and gently rubbed his back.
"I know it's a bit scary now, but being on an adventure can be fun." She assured him. "We'll all be here and once we find his girlfriend, we can go home and let you pick what we do next."
"O-ok." He trembled.
The crew then set sail to find the captain's lost girlfriend.
A couple of hours later, the ship ventured to a dark and eerie surrounding, a fog trickling in. The vessel began to slow down, as they sailed past wrecked pirate ships and jagged rocks. It really was a dark sight to see, especially with the dark clouds covering the sun.
The boys and Audrey stood near the forecastle deck, gazing around their surroundings with concerned and confused looks. This wasn't the place Audrey had in mind when they were going to see his girlfriend.
Mugman finally broke the silence by stating "I was, uh, picturing less shipwrecks. BrineyBeard, where are we?"
"This be where she lives." Briney answered.
"Your girlfriend lives on wrecked pirate ships?" Cuphead asked, arching his eyebrow.
"Nay, she feasts on wrecked pirate ships." Briney corrected him. "She lives in that thar creepy cove."
He pointed in their direction and they spotted a cove that looked an awful lot like a skull. It gave Audrey flashbacks of Skull Rock from Peter Pan, when he and Wendy traveled there to rescue Tiger Lily from Hook.
The trio felt a shiver go down their spines and swallow hard. Even Cuphead looked a bit nervous as he looked over at the cove.
"Uh, can we go back to wrecked pirate ships for one second?" Mugman asked, as Briney joined them and placed his hands on the side of the rail the boys were holding on to.
"Aye, me sweet slaughters all who dare approach." Briney informed them, making the trio more nervous. Audrey was hoping his girlfriend would be a sweet maiden with a welcoming cottage. But living in a creepy cove surrounded by wrecked pirate ships that she preyed upon was not on her radar.
"Uh, seems like an important detail you could have mentioned sooner." Mugman trembled.
"Yeah, like when we were departing the docks." Audrey added.
His parrot made it worse by screeching "Squawk! Certain death! Certain death!"
"Hey, uh, Briney?" Cuphead asked. "What's with all the screaming statues?"
They scanned the wrecked ships and indeed they saw many gray statues of pirates who were screaming their heads off.
Briney gave another hearty laugh before placing a hand on their shoulders. "They ain't statues, they be pirates. Turned to stone when they gazed into the eyes of the dreaded sea beast."
Audrey looked at him for a second and chuckled nervously. "Heh heh you know, for a second there, I thought you said sea beast."
She waited a bit for him to tell her "Oh yeah I was just pulling your leg." However that never happened and it sank in for her and the boys.
"Dreaded sea beast!?" They cried.
"This is the first I've heard of a dreaded sea beast!" Mugman trembled.
While it was terrifying to hear about his love interest in a sea beast, Audrey began to ponder something.
"Gotta say, his true love is something you don't hear everyday. But if memory serves me right, there was only one sea beast I met in the story book, and she had a similar ability to turn people to stone…oh no."
Outloud, she cried. "Ok, we need to leave, like right now! Dating a sea beast is a bad idea and traveling to see her with children on board is terrible!"
"Nay! I told you from the start, we're going to find me love!" Briney argued.
It didn't take long for Mugman to figure this whole voyage out.
"You're in love with a dreaded sea beast!?"
"Yuck! Keep that mushy stuff out of my high seas adventure, will ya?" Cuphead gagged.
Briney could see that neither one of them was supporting his love life and his journey to her. In retaliation, he drew his sword and pointed it at them, causing them to jump back a bit.
"Bite your tongue! Or me sword will bite it for ye!"
The sword then came alive and added to that comment
"You can bite it, or I can bite it, but either way it's gonna get bit."
Audrey didn't have time to think the whole thing through because suddenly Mugman cried
"Look!"
The crew looked over and saw that the water bubbled and shook violently. The boys and Audrey were nervous, but Briney was more than excited.
"That means she's close!"
Then, a large figure emerged from the water, and their faces went from scared to absolute terror, and Audrey knew that figure way too well.
Cala Maria.
She gave a thunderous screech, as thunder boomed and lightning struck, revealing for a split second her hissing snakes on her head and her blood red eye. The cups screamed in terror holding onto each other while Audrey was too scared to say anything but Briney was thrilled to see her.
"Me sweet!" He rejoiced.
Cala saw the ship in front of her and peered down a bit, her snake hair still hissing. Briney then took a deep breath, composing himself and stepped towards the rails once more as the boys and Audrey backed up.
"Now if you'll excuse me, boys and lass, this is between a man and a woman he loves."
One would think he would be more formal when he spoke to his true love. But instead, he turned around, jumped from side to side waving his hands up and down, hoping to gain her attention.
He called out "Cala Maria! Hi! Down here!"
She glared at the captain and the heroes began to see her eyes begin to light up and knew what she was planning to do.
"It's me, BrineyBeard!" He called.
Just then, the three grabbed and yanked him back, barely missing her laser eyes, that sadly turned his parrot to stone, landing on the deck with a thump.
"We gotta get out of here, Briney! Let's go!" Cuphead shouted, as the trio attempted to push him away. Since he was much larger than them, he didn't budge an inch and became annoyed at their attempt to pull him away.
"Unhand me!" He shouted, shoving them back a bit. "I'll never give up on love!"
Not a moment after that, they shoved him out of the way, as Cala attempted to zap him with her eyes once more. The boys were now on top of him, as Audrey clung to the side of the ship, trying to come up with a plan.
"Your love wants you dead!" Mugman argued.
"Relationships are a series of peaks and valleys." He simply explained.
"Yeah, I know that, since I'm married, but not like this!" Audrey cried.
He got up a second time and placed the boys off to the side, instructing them "Now step aside."
He then strolled towards the edge of the deck again, her eyes now yellow with black slithered pupils. He began to recite as Cala peered down
"Me sweet, I present to ye…a token of me love."
He then revealed the large heart-shaped box, presenting it to her, his face overcome with complete joy.
"A symbol of me enduring devotion, me undying affection…"
As he went on, Cala became annoyed and retorted in a russian accent.
"You talk too much."
Without missing a beat, she zapped him with her red eyes again, this time hitting him and turning him to stone, minus the heart shaped box.
"Briney!" Audrey cried.
Cala then dove back into the water, but her tail hit the waves too hard, causing a huge tidal wave towards them.
"RUN-!"
Audrey tried to scream, but was too late as the waves turned over the ship, causing the trio to black out.
To Be Continued…
Oh man! A pirate is in love with a dreaded sea beast! Sheesh, love is clearly blind. But looks like that tidal wave got them good! Are they ok or did they end up farther from home? Stay "Toon" for another thrilling adventure!
As always, thanks so much for reading! Don't forget to leave a review, but let's avoid the flames please :D
