Chapter 13: Reunited

The sun peers through the curtains softly, Rogue wrinkling her nose a bit as her eyes squint at the soft light. She felt Remy pressed against her in a deep sleep. Gently sitting up and rubbing her eyes, a yawns escapes her as she stretches, then she gazes down to her sleeping boyfriend who was sound asleep. He looked noticeably tired, knowing it was from multiple things such as being held captive in cages, running away from said traffickers, saving her and having nightmares plague his mind from her brief kiss with death. A frown appears on her lips, gently brushing a strand of hair from his face so she didn't disturb his slumber.

Rogue stealthily gets out of bed and puts on some clothes to cover herself up, her hair in a tangle of curls as she sneakily exits the room-wanting to make them breakfast as he had done so much for her. She enters the kitchen and starts looking for things to cook with, hoping no one else was awake at the moment. Cracking some eggs, Rogue puts them into a pan, cooking them on a medium low heat while grabbing some mugs for coffee. "Oh, ah didn't know y' were up!" Tante Mattie gasps softly as she walks into the kitchen.

Rogue jumps a bit, then relaxes, smiling shyly. "Uhm… yeah ah just wanted ta cook some breakfast fer Remy and Ah…"

Tante smiles sweetly, walking over to the two toned southerner. "Would ya like some help with anything?"

"Do ya'll have a tray ah could carry the plates and mugs on?" Rogue asks.

"Ah'll get ya one." Tante smiles, nodding, then heads off somewhere in search for a tray.

Rogue smiles, finishing up on cooking the eggs after putting some bread in the toaster. She makes the coffees, then grabs a bowl and puts some fruit in it. Once Tante Mattie comes back with a tray, Rogue places everything down, buttering the toast and placing them on the plates so she could take everything up together. "Ya soah ya don't want m' t' help ya? Ya probably still gettin' ya strength back." Tante Mattie eyes the tray, but Rogue smiles at her.

"It's fahne. Ah got it, thank ya though."

With that she took the tray upstairs, slowly and carefully, taking her time. The floor creaks behind her, her head tilting a bit to see what it was or who it was. "Oh, y' mus' be Remy's girl." Henri says as he exits his room.

"Yeah. An' you are?" Rogue questioned.

"'M Henri, Remy's brot'er. Nice t' finally see de face o' de girl Remy wouldn't shut up 'bout." Henri grins.

"Oh, nahce ta meet ya."

"Ah, good y' awake!" Jean Luc grins as he walks down the hall towards Henri but notices Rogue. "Oh an' it looks like y' awake finally. How y' feelin' petite?"

"Ah'm fahne." Rogue eyes him suspiciously, gripping the tray tightly.

Jean Luc glances down at the tray, a smile on his lips. "'M guessin' Remy ain' awake yet, huh? Y' don' need 'is permission if I asked y' if y' wanted t' join de guild huh?"

Rogue blinks, not expecting the question. "No, but ah'm not goin' ta join yer guild. We're goin' back ta the X-men once they come fer us."

"Hm. Are y' soah I can't persuade y'? Jean Luc asks. "Y'd be very useful heah an' get t' be wit' de Prince o' T'ieves. Jus' t'ink 'bout it."

"Ah don't need ta be a part of a guild ta be with Remy. He's comin' back with meh." Rogue narrows his eyes.

She quickly, but carefully leaves the area, heading down the hall towards Remy's room and enters quietly. She wasn't becoming a fan of Jean Luc. She hoped Logan would call soon and tell them they were coming. Rogue puts the tray down on the empty bed, hearing the bathroom door open and Remy appearing in sweatpants. "Was wonderin' where y' were. I was gon' go look fo' y'." Remy smiles at her as he walks up to her.

Rogue smiles lovingly as he wrapped his arms around her, kissing him softly. "Ah made us breakfast. Ya done a lot fer meh recently an' ah wanted ta do somethin' nahce back."

Remy kissed her back, then grins. "Y' didn' 'ave t' do dat, chère, but merci mon amour."

They sit down and enjoy breakfast, both enjoying each others company-Remy excited to tell Rogue the news while Rogue was nervous about Logan not calling them yet. He glances at her and noticed her composure and swallowed his fruit. "I got some news y' might like, Roguey." He smiles.

"Oh yeah? Lahke what?" Rogue raises a brow and puts some food in her mouth.

"Well, while y' were sleepin' last night, Logan called an' said dey were gon' be heah dis afternoon t' get us."

Rogue's eyes widen, swallowing her food hard. "What?! Realleh?!"

"Oui." Remy grins at her reaction.

"Oh ah can't wait ta see Logan." Rogue grins. "And the othahs!"

Remy chuckles at her excitement, happy to see the sparks of happiness and excitement gleam in her eyes. He would love to keep seeing that look in her eyes forevermore, do whatever it takes to see it. Once their breakfast and coffee was finished, the pair get up and head downstairs to prep for their incoming teammates. Rogue could feel the anticipation bubble up inside her, unable to keep her small grin off her lips as she gathered the rest of her things from the car. She usually kept to herself mostly-especially her emotions as she was pretty guarded but she's been letting her walls down more recently around Remy. And he could see the change in her, too.

Her smile faded as she turned and saw Jean Luc coming out the front door and notice the pair. "Where ya'll headin'?" He asks, eyes narrowed and an eyebrow raised.

"None o' y' concern." Remy quickly retorts.

"Tch. So, y' leavin' anyway?" Jean Luc snorts, arms folding over his chest.

"Dat's right. Dis don' concern y' an' I got nothin' mo' t' say t' y'." Remy says sternly.

They gather their belongings together, Remy figuring the X-men are close by. The pair say goodbye to Henri and Tante Mattie, Rogue politely thanking her while the older lady hugs her and tells her take care of herself-and Remy. Jean Luc tried talking to Remy but he ignored him. It wasn't until they heard the rumbling outside for Jean Luc to figure out why they were leaving. The pair exit the backdoor to find the blackbird in a clearing in the enormous backyard property, the ramp lowering down with Logan coming down the steps and looking around the area. His eyes land on the two southerners, Rogue feeling her breath hitch and tears threatening to spill out. Remy had her bag in his hand and his over his shoulder, a smile on his lips. Logan starts heading towards, only to be slammed by Rogue with a tight embrace as she sprinted off the porch towards him. He hugs her back, sighing in relief, knowing they were okay. Remy comes up to them, Rogue letting go and wiping her eyes. "Glad to see you two alive." Logan smiles. He notices the collars around their necks, his brows furrowing. "Still got those collars on huh?"

"'M ready fo' it t' be off." Remy tugs at his in annoyance.

"Don't worry, Hank'll get 'em off."

"What happened ta ya guys aftah the whole thing?" Rogue finally asks, arms around herself.

"We all got split up at first, couldn't do much with the sentinels stalking us around, but we eventually found everyone. Had some run ins with some traffickers too, but we scared them off." Logan crossed his arms over his chest.

"Well, least we don' got t' worry 'bout dem now." Remy smiles at Rogue as his arm snaked around her waist.

She smiles back at him. Logan eyes the two, then grunts. "Let's get you two back home with everyone-and get these collars off of you."

They go up the ramp and enter the blackbird, Ororo hugging them both in relief, then tells the two to strap in. Logan and Storm start up the jet and take off, heading towards the direction of Bayville. Remy grabs hold of Rogue's hand as they sat next to each other, Rogue giving him a smile and leaning her head on his shoulder. It took them quite a few hours to reach Bayville, the sun setting as the jet touches down near the wreckage of the mansion. "We're set up in the bunker for now, until we get this Sentinel issue out of the way." Logan grunts as he gets our of his seat.

"Hopefully we can solve this issue soon." Ororo comments. "Now then, let's get you two settled in."

"Good t' be back home, ey chère?" Remy grins a bit.

"Yeah, it's good ta be home." Rogue sighs happily. "Although Ah am not happy ta sleep in tha bunkah again."

The four exit the blackbird, heading towards the bunker when the door swings open from the hidden living space. "They're back!" Kitty squeals as she rushes out.

Kurt teleports outside and hugs Rogue tightly. "Ve thought you ver dead!"

Rogue hugs him back tightly, Kitty joining in. "Can't breathe." Rogue wheezes as she wasn't used to such tight hugs from her friend or brother.

The two jump back, then greet Remy, but noticed the collars on the pair. "Whoa, what happened to you two?" Kitty asks.

"Long story petite." Remy sighs.

"We almost got sold by mutant traffickahs." Rogue groans.

"Vat?!" Kurt's eyes widen.

"Relax. I got us out." Remy held up his hands. "'Sides, we're fine."

His hand slips around Rogue's waist as a small smile spread across his lips, her own lips curling up into a small smile. Kitty and Kurt share a look with small grins as they noticed the pairs closeness, leading them inside with Ororo and Logan-who was grumbling to himself but let the two southerners be. Once inside, they were greeted by everyone else, a feeling of relief in the air as the X-men were now all back together and ready to fight the threat that wants to end mutant kind.

Beast takes the pair to the make shift medical lab he had set up in the bunker, examining the collars around their neck. "Fascinating. How many other mutants were you two with when you were captured?" Hank asks.

Rogue glances to Remy, a frown on her lips. "Too many…"

"I was able t' get most o' de collahs off some o' de mutants dat were on de ship we were on. Couldn' find de remote date controlled ours however." Remy rubs the back of his head.

"Well at least you helped others get their powers back," Hank smiles. "Now, let's see how I could get these off of you."

Hank worked on their collars one at a time, finding it wasn't just a simple latch that could be unlatched to open them. He finds wires inside that could be detached, hearing a beep and click as the collar opens and falls off. Hank does the same to Rogue's collar, both southerners rubbing their necks and sighing. "There, deactivated and now your powers are activated once more." Hank smiles in triumph.

Remy grins as he felt his powers surge through him again, Rogue gazes down at her hands with furrowed brows, but her lips curved up into a small smile. They get their old injuries assessed to check up on their progress, both showing signs of great progress.

Dinner was made by Ororo and Jean, the two politely telling Kitty why she couldn't help them cook but could help set out the dishes. The phasing girl pouts but sets out plates, cutlery and cups, the other two letting out a small sigh of relief when Kitty didn't argue. Kurt felt like he was still recovering from her last attempt at cooking, while Piotr helps Kitty set the table.l in sympathy. Everyone gathers in the set up dining room, smiles on their faces despite the circumstances they were all facing, but it was a happy setting nonetheless.

Everyone was making conversation as they ate peacefully, Scott and Logan going back and forth what they should do to take down Trask while the others talked about other subjects. Remy glances up from his food to Rogue who was picking at her food but smiling at Kitty and Kurt as she listened to them. Sensing his gaze on her, Rogue glances over across the table and flashes him a warming smile, then turns her head to Kitty to answer her question she had asked her. Remy smiles slightly then continues eating while he listened in on Logan and Scott.

Dinner ends, everyone helping with clean up as it was late in the night. Logan asks the Professor if they should plan the mission in the morning to which the telepath agrees. "It would be best, everyone needs their rest. We'll discuss a plan tomorrow after breakfast so everyone is informed. We have to be strategic about this, too."

Logan nods with a gruff grunt. Meanwhile, Rogue looks down at her hands as she puts gloves on. It felt a bit foreign to wear gloves after she kept them off since they were trafficked but it also made her feel secure in a way as she didn't want to accidentally absorb anyone at the moment. "Y' doin' alright, chère?" Remy asks as he comes up behind her.

Rogue turns her head to him and gazes into his eyes. "Ah'm fahne. It's just weird wearin' gloves again, but ah would hate ta absorb anyone on accident-includin' ya."

Remy gives her a sympathetic smile. "Don' worry, y' can absorb m' all y' want."

Rogue pouts at him, playfully hitting his chest. "Knowin' you, ya lahke ta take risks no mattah the consequence huh?"

"'S worth it in de end. Means I get t' be wit' y'." Remy grins.

He pecks her lips, only a slight shock going through him but he still stood. Rogue sighs but smiles. "What am ah gonna do with ya, cajun? 'Sides, can't have anymo' fun now that mah powahs are back."

"I t'ink I could find ways 'round dat, but fo' now we focus on takin' down dese sentinels." Remy rubs his chin.

"Yeah. Hopefully we can get rid of them soon. Ah want things back ta befo' those damn sentinels." Rogue sighs.

"Hey Rogue! You wanna see where you're sleepi-oh! Am I interrupting anything?" Kitty beams as she comes down the long corridor.

"We bettah get ta bed, shugah." Rogue looks up at Remy after she shakes her head.

Remy pouts. "Fine. G'night, chère."

He places a kiss on her head, smirking at her slightly reddened cheeks as he turns to head to his own room. "Night chat." He nods to Kitty as he passes, who was blinking after what she witnessed.

"Spill. It. Right. Now." Kitty looks at Rogue, grabbing her arm. "I like want to know everything!"

Rogue gulps, biting her lip a bit. "Uhm.. raght now?"

"YES! You're sharing a room with me so c'mon!" Kitty grins as she drags her down the corridor to their room.

Rogue groans. After changing into their pajamas, Kitty sits on her bed across from Rogue's in anticipation, her eyes twinkling. Rogue rubs her arm as she usually doesn't share much of her love life with anyone-let alone Kitty even if she was her best friend. "Sooo?" Kitty presses.

"Well, what do ya wanna know?" Rogue asks.

"When did you guys first get together? How long have you been together? Did your powers ever get in the way of things when you two were traveling alone? Is Remy a good kisser? What was it like being alone with him?" Kitty blurts out all at once, Rogue wincing at all the questions at once.

"Whoa, slow down Kit! One question at a tahme." Rogue holds her hands up, then sighs. "Ah would say we've been tagethah fer a few weeks now. We grew pretty close during the tahme we were being trafficked-but also when ah got sick… Remy was aware of mah powahs and he's always been careful with them but once we got those stupid collahs on we kinda just got lost in each othah…."

Kitty grins from ear to ear. "Soo you guys did it?"

Rogue felt heat rise to her cheeks, Kitty grinning more and letting out a squeal. "No way!!"

"No mo' questions, ah'm tired." Rogue grunts as she turns to lay down.

"Alright, fine." Kitty sighs, the grins again. "Was he good in bed?"

Rogue puts her face in her pillow but nods, hearing the phasing girl laugh and start to lay down. "Well, at least you guys are now back here and don't have to worry about traffickers anymore."

"Yeah, ah soah hope so." Rogue sighs. "It was terrible what some of the othah mutants looked lahked."

Kitty frowns. "That bad?"

"Yeah. Ah just hope those assholes that were aftah us aftah escaping rot in a hole." Rogue grips her pillow.

Kitty gives her friend a sympathetic smile. "Well, don't think about that right now, kay? Also, you can, like, totally come to me with anything, 'kay?"

"Yeah, ah know. Thanks Kit." Rogue smiles. "Naght."

"Night Rogue." Kitty smiles.

It was good to be back, but peace can only last for so long and they knew they had to think fast to keep the peace between mutants and the mankind.

A/N: Finally reunited! Time to come up with a plan on how to take down the sentinels and Trask. Till next time!
