Not a long chapter, but hope you enjoy it anyway.

Amy and Rory's house

Morning

The morning after their first meeting with The Doctor's former Companions, Amy was in the kitchen, making coffee when Rory walked in, dressed for work.

"Have you seen The Doctor? He's not in his room," Rory said and Amy looked over at him bewildered.

"No, and our car is still in the driveway, so he didn't take that. Where could he be?" Amy wondered before they came to the same conclusion.

"TARDIS," husband and wife said together.

Not long after, the two headed down into the basement, where The Doctor had been keeping the TARDIS since he'd started staying with them. Walking up too it, Amy opened the door and they headed inside, finding The Doctor standing at the console, staring something with burning intensity.

"You're not trying to give yourself heat vision, are you?" Rory asked dryly as they walked up to the console.

"No, Rory. Just running some tests," The Doctor said, not moving his gaze away from the scanner.

Following his gaze, the Ponds saw that a hair was shown on the scanner, being scanned.

"Why is a hair so interesting to you? And have been here all night?" Amy asked in concern.

"It's not just a hair; it's one of Donna's hairs. I've been testing it to make sure everything is as it should," The Doctor said as the scanner said 'ID: Donna Noble. Species: Human'.

"And is it?" Rory asked curiously.

"Yes. That's the problem. There's no way Donna should be able to remember me without dying, but she's perfectly human. It doesn't make bloody sense!" The Doctor snapped in frustration. "There's not a hint of Time Lord in her, and there's no explanation as to why."

"How did she end up part Time Lord anyway?" Rory asked bewildered.

"You remember when the Earth was moved?" The Doctor asked and got two nods. "It was done by the being who created the Daleks, Davros. I was shot by a Dalek but, instead of Regenerating, I channeled the Regeneration Energy into a server hand of mine. Long story, don't ask."

"Why would you refuse to Regenerate?" Rory asked curiously, both he and Amy filing away the bit about the severed hand for later.

"My previous Regeneration was a bit…conceited," The Doctor said with a grimace, knowing that was an understatement. "Moving on. Donna was left alone with the Hand and there was a sort of Meta-Crisis, a transfer of DNA between Donna and the Hand. It gave turned the hand into a copy of me, one that was part Time Lord, part Donna. But the transfer wasn't one way, it made Donna part Time Lord, she had all my knowledge of the universe. But a human can never bear that for long, so I did the only thing I could to save her life: I erased her mind, completely, of everything having to do with me. If she ever remembered me, her mind would burn and she would die."

"But now she remembers," Rory noted and The Doctor nodded with a sigh.

"Yes. And it doesn't make sense. There's no reason she could without dying," The Doctor said in frustration.

"Does it matter?" Amy asked and The Doctor looked at her incredulously. "You said she was your best friend. You never thought she would even remember you. But she does, Raggedy Man. Does it really matter how or why?"

"But-" The Doctor started.

"Sometimes impossible things happen, and we call them miracles," Rory with a slight smile and The Doctor couldn't help but laugh.

"Okay, fair point. For now, I'll just be happy that she's alive," The Doctor gave in, for the moment.

"Good. Now go take a shower. You smell, Raggedy Man," Amy told him, laughing when he pouted.

"So it well, then?" Wilf asked as he, Donna, Sylvia and Shaun sat down for breakfast.

"As well as I thought it would go. The Spaceman didn't really understand how I remembered and didn't die, but I think he was just happy to see me. He even cried a bit," Donna said with a soft smile.

Shaun was silent, glancing over at his wife silently. He hadn't been certain of this visit to The Doctor when she had said she was going to drop by with some others who had used to travel with The Doctor. But it had been good for her, she seemed happy. As though a weight had finally lifted from her shoulders.

"The Doctor actually wants to meet everyone again, they're holding a sort of party in a few days," Donna said, taking them all aback. "None of you have to go, but I'm going."

"I would love to see The Doctor again," Wilf said immediately, a happy smile crossing his face.

"And I suppose it's finally time I meet this Doctor," Shaun mused and Donna smiled before turning to Sylvia.

"It's okay if you don't want to come, Mum. I know you've had your issues with The Doctor," Donna said carefully and, after a moment, her mother nodded.

"You're right, I have. But I think it's time we all put it behind us. It would be my pleasure to come," Sylvia said, to the surprise of her daughter.

"Oh. Well, brilliant. I'll let the Spaceman know we're all coming," Donna said, wondering if the world was coming to an end if her mother was willing to make nice with The Doctor.

"So how are you gonna explain that to him?" Mickey asked as he rocked Matthew to sleep, gesturing with his head to the vial of liquid Martha had gotten from Jane, which she was currently holding in her hand, staring at it with a thoughtful expression on her face.

"I'm not sure yet, but I'll think of something. After everything they've been through, losing the ability to raise their daughter…Amy and Rory deserve to have a family of their own," Martha said with a sigh.

"I'm not arguing, but you'll have to be careful. You know what Boss is like," Mickey pointed out.

"I know. I should have asked Jack about this before he left," Martha said, scolding herself for not doing so.

"Where do you think he went, anyway?" Mickey inquired and Martha shrugged.

"I learned a long time ago that, when it comes to Jack Harkness, it's better not to ask. But wherever he is, he's doing something to help The Doctor. I believe that," Martha said with certainty.

The Maldovarium

52nd century

Jack made his way through the streets, passing people by as they went on their way. He couldn't believe he was even doing this, but he needed information.

"I'm here to see Hart," Jack said as he stopped in front of the security guards. "Tell him Jack Harkness is here to see him."

Not long after, Jack was escorted into the office that had once belonged to Dorium. In a chair, sitting at desk, John Hart shot a grin at him.

"Never thought you'd reach out to me for help," Hart quipped as Jack gave him a slight grin.

"Desperate times. I like what you've done with the place," Jack noted as he looked around.

"With Dorium gone, someone had to take over. Better me than someone else," Hart pointed out and Jack shrugged, not disagreeing. "Sit down. Drink?"

"No thank you," Jack said as he sat down across from his former partner. "Do you have it?"

"You won't believe what I went through to get this, but yeah," Hart said, pulling out a small sphere that he handed to Jack. "Why would you even want one of those? Even the worst of the worst that we met wouldn't want that."

"The less you know; the better. Let's just I'll need it for what I'm about to do. I don't want anyone else involved," Jack said and Hart shrugged.

"Like I care anyway. But I did hear something about The Silence that you were looking into," Hart said, getting Jack's attention. "Rumor has it that they set up shop on a planet near Stormcage prison."

"They would," Jack mused, his face growing dark.

"I know that look. You're about to cause some chaos, aren't you?" Hart asked with a smirk, which Jack returned.

"What I'm about to do…the universe hasn't invented a term for it yet," Jack said, clenching the sphere tightly before pocketing it.

As Jack walked out of his office, Hart watched him go, wondering what Jack was going to do before shrugging, reasoning whoever he was going to do it too, they probably deserved it.

Not quite filler, but I wanted a chapter to show everyone's reactions in the aftermath of their reunion with The Doctor, as well as give a hint to Jack's future plans.

Hope the John Hart cameo was enjoyed.

Next chapter will be both the party and the first stop on Jack's mission. It's about to get intense.
