Chapter Four

the S class candidates time to celebrate

it was a nice day at the guild, lively as usual. but today was different, everyone was gathering for the S class trials, to see who among there fellow guild mates would get the chance to become an S class wizard.

"hey, wheres Link? he has to be here to see who's going to be in the trials this year!" Natsu asked to every guild mate he could find, wanting Link to join the trials. "I think I saw him on the roof you flame brain. now stop bothering everyone, some of us want to get ready for the trials in peace." Gray retorted angrily. "Oh shut your mouth Ice Princess! wanna go now?" Natsu retorted back before the two proceeded to but heads as they normally would. "Natsu, Gray! stop fighting you two need to be ready in case you get picked for the trials, Ill go get Link." Erza told them as she glared at the two.

Meanwhile, on the roof of the building.

*Lookout Landing theme playing*

"Hey Link, what the hell are you doing out here!? the picking for the S class trials are happening in a few minutes!" Erza yelled at Link who was sitting on the roof looking at the cityscape. "Erza, you said it yourself, I've been apart of the guild for only a few weeks, why bother join the S class trials. plus I plan on asking master if I can join as a cook, just so I can see how the trials look." Link says back smiling. "by the way, do you know that Magnolia has a similar music to that of hyrule" Link sighs as he looks up again to the sky.

"what do you mean? all I hear is the noise of the market but that's it." Erza questions as she looks at him quizzically. "you seriously don't hear it? it's all around us. I mean it might be a type of magic built into hylians. I can hear music from everything, and in certain scenarios the music will build or change based on what's happening. for example whenever I've heard natsu fights I hear a guitar rip playing... actually I want you to hear this mind if it try something?"

"I... I mean I think I understand and I guess you could try something, what is it?" Erza asks a bit nervous. "just wait and let me try it* Link responds before pulling out his purah pad and looking through the new spell album that Purah had given him before he left(yes he will still have this, as well as his arm)

"ah I think this one should help" Link mumbled to himself as Erza stood there nervous and embarrassed that she was nervous, her stoic demeanor slipping away. "this might feel weird at first but it should let you hear the music that I hear. found out it's cause of my elvish ears." Link chuckles and winks before slowly putting his hands on her ears. "Link!... u.. umm... err... what are you doing? " Erza questions in flushed embarrassment. "Just a spell, I'm not going to kiss you. We haven't even gone on a proper date yet!" Link chuckles again before continuing the spell.

two cyan magic circles would slowly form around Links hands as he casts the spell. "so you hear it now Erz?" Link asks curious to see the if the spell worked.

"um... Link... was the spell intended to have me hear a soft... soothing melody when I look at the city?" Erza questions bewildered. "yep, but that's only because that's what the cities music is. it will change as you fight. every person has there own song when they fight. but it might take some getting used to. let me know if you want me to provide the spell to the rest of the guild." Link informs her, before jumping off the roof. "now you said the S class trial candidate pickings are happening? well then let's go."

Back at the Guildhall

"Link glad you could make it. Now let the S class candidate ceremony begin!" Makarov shouts gleefully. "this year's candidates a good batch, hand picked by me and the other S class wizards in this guild. you have been weighed by your skill in battle, job completion and adaptability." Makarov continues "based on those qualities these years candidates for the S class trials are first, Natsu Dragneel, second Gray Fullbuster, Third Juvia Lockser, fourth Elfman Strauss, Fifth Cana Alberona, Sixth Freed Justine, seventh Levy McGarden and lastly Mest gryder!" Makaov announces before the guild erupts in cheers congratulating all the candidates. Link however looks at mest with an uncertain gaze.

"Mest, right? I don't think I've seen you around here before and I've been here for a couple of weeks so I would like to know who you are." Links asks mest as he attempts a sort of interrogation on him. "Don't worry, you joined a couple of days ago, right? I was on a job then and got back this morning. Don't worry. I'm not a spy or anything. " Mest responds heartily understanding of Links weariness. Link sighs, "o.k, thanks for clearing that up. It's been nice meeting you, Mest. I got to ask the master something, so I'll talk to you later." Link waves goodbye to Mest before turning his attention back to Makarov as he finishes the S Class trial announcements

"This year's trial grounds shall be Fairy tails holy ground, Tenrou Island! also this year instead of having one person on each team, the candidates will all be able to choose a partner for the trials, just make sure you have then at the end of the week!" MAkarov finishes happily before ending the candidate ceremony to begin the festivities.

Link would then walk over to Makarov. "Hey, Master. I was wondering due to me being a new member could I Join the S class trials as an observer? I can cook and help medically if that is needed, I would just like to be apart of the trials, even if it's not a contestant." Link would inquire, hoping to join even though he can't participate. "sounds like a fine Idea link, but I would have to think it over fro a bit, I will let you know if you can join in a few days" Makarov would respond before heading to get his booze from the bar.

Link would sigh gratefully before joining the rest of the guild in the festivities.

End of chapter Four

So what did you guys think of this chapter? I wanted an explanation for the music heard everywhere when you watch or play the games and I think I offered a pretty good explanation. I plan on link and Erzas date being after the trials, and with how there relationship is unintentionally going, even though I don't plan on any lemon, should I change the rating to M or no? and please comment on what I could improve on, I'm always looking for help. thanks for following this and see you next chapter!
