Chapter 42:

The Grimsley Adventures of Elliott and Lillie

Location: Tapu Village Pokémon Center

"I'll be ready by tomorrow," Acerola told me over the phone. "Sorry it took so long."

"It's fine!" I replied. "Today I thought I would check out Route 15 today. It's an ocean route."

"You do that!" Acerola replied. "See yah!"

Location: Route 15

Blue sky, blue sea, lush grass and sandy beaches; that is the definition of the Alola region. Had I been there long? No. Did I feel at home? Oh yeah!

"Not long," I said. "And we can take on the next Trial." However, in the awe of nature's beauty, I neglected to mention the large-white house on the coast that I was literally right next to. "What is that?" I thought.

"Let me check, Roto." Rotom Dex got a closer look. "It'zz an Aether Houzze! Zzt zzt!"

"Great," I said. "I do not need to see them."

"Oh, do you now?"

We heard a voice from behind us. The source of the voice? A man wearing a white kimono. Not the type of clothing I would wear in a tropical climate to say the least He had black and white spiky hair and what looked like a poker chip in one hand. "Do you want to chance it?"

"Wait…" I said. "You're… Grimsley! Of the Unova Elite Four!"

He flipped the poker chip. It landed onto the beach sideways. "You are half right. Yes, I am Grimsley. But my days of the Elite Four are over. Ever since Rosa became Champion and Iris got degraded, I gave up my position."

"Brave thing to do," I responded. "I was going to check out the Aether House."

"Oh really?" Grimsley said. "Before we do that, I would like to give you some brief training if that is fine with you. See those rocks on the water? Try and break them."

"Fine!" I said, summoning Lapras and getting on it. We went towards the rocks. "Okay Lapras, charge!" Lapras rammed its body into it. It did nothing and I fell off.

"Elliott! Roto!"

I quickly got back on Lapras and reached dry land. "Well, that didn't work."

Grimsley smiled. "But you took a chance. Here. Let me show you the way to do it. Go Sharpedo!" Grismley threw a Pokéball. In the sea, out came a navy Pokémon with sharp teeth and a yellow star pattern on its head. It had a large fin on its head.

Sharpedo (サメハダー)

#346

Water/Dark Type

Brutal Pokémon

5'11" (1.8 m)

195.8 lbs (88.8 kg)

It pursues its prey at speeds of 75 mph (212 kmh) and finishes them of with fangs that can crush iron. It is known as the bully of the sea.

Carvanha -Lv 30 Sharpedo

"Sharpedo, Aqua Jet!" Sharpedo dashed forward. Water came off of it as it crashed through a rock, shattering it to pieces.

"Wow!" I said. "So, all we need to do it catch a Sharpedo!"

"That will not be necessary," Grimsley said. "Please hand me your Ride Pager." I did, and Grimsley fiddled about with it by putting a chip in it. He then gave it back to me. "Now try summoning Sharpedo."

I held it up, and Sharpedo came out! "Thanks!" I said.

"No problem," Grimsley replied. "So, you don't trust the Aether Foundation?"

"Nope," I replied.

"Well, I'm going to chance it. I don't trust them either. I will come with you."

"Amazzzzing! Roto! A former Elite Four member on our size! Zzt zzt!"

We both hopped on our Sharpedo and darted off. Like, we really darted off. Sometimes Sharpedo went so fast it went above the water briefly.

"Wait for me! Roto!" Rotom Dex said, catching up and clinging on to the back of my shirt. "Pleazze uzze Lapras when you can. Roto. Thizz izz all a bit too fazzt for me."

Eventually, the two of us got back onto dry land.

"Thanks," I told Grimsley.

"No problem," he replied. "If I may, can I check out the Aether House with you?"

"Sure thing!" I said. "I really hope my suspicions are false…"

Location: Aether House

The Ula'ula Aether House was a lot bigger than the base on Akala. It had a reception desk and of course, everything was white. However, no one was there, or at least in reception.

"Hello?" I asked. "Anyone home?"

Well, in fact there was. Coming through the doors to the reception area there was an Oranguru. It looked at me. It saw the former Elite Four memver, and grunted.

"Kids. Guests." It grunted. At that point, a Preschooler ran out.

"Oh look, an intruder!"

"I'm not!" I said. Did I trust the Aether Foundation? No. But was I going to play along with this? Sure!

"Time to battle!" he replied.

Elliott Vs. Preschooler Hunter

"Elekid, I choose you!" Hunter shouted as he sent out his Electric Type.

"Go Snorlax!" I replied. There was a clear size difference here.

"Elekid, Thunder Punch!" Elekid's fist started sparking and it punched Snorlax.

"You okay?" Snorlax turned back to me and smiled. "Great! Now give it a dose of your Body Slam!" Snorlax roared and started gathering energy.

"That's more than Body Slam!" Grimsley said.

"It'zz Giga Impact! Roto!"

Snorlax, with all its energy, charged into Elekid. It was knocked out in one fell swoop.

"Okay! You're not intruders!"

Hunter put his Pokéball on the counter and Oranguru took it. "Give it a heal please."

Oranguru nodded and walked through the doors behind the reception.

"That Oranguru seems busy," I said.

"It is!" Hunter replied. "But it's very intelligent! Do you want a tour?"

"I'm fine," I said, out of fear that this was a trap.

Oranguru came running out. "Skull! Outside!" it grunted.

I looked at Grimsley concerningly.

Location: Route 15

I ran outside to see a Team Skull Grunt harassing someone.

"Give up yo!"

"Hey!" I shouted. "What's going on?"

The Team Skull Grunt looked at me. So did the person being harassed. It was Lillie!

"Elliott!" she said. "Wh-what do I do?"

"I battle this Grunt," I said. "Then you head back to the Tapu Village."

Lillie gulped. "Come on Neb-" Nebby was out of the Bag. "I need to find Nebby first!" She ran off.

"As for you," I said. "Get ready!"

"Try me-" said the Grunt. "Oh great, Grimsley. I can't win this."

"I'm not battling you," Grimsley said. "What fun is there in a sure victory?"

"You're battling me instead!" I said.

Elliott Vs. Team Skull Grunt

"Drowzee, go!" the Grunt shouted. I knew how to deal with a Psychic Type.

"I choose Incineroar!" I replied. "Use Darkest Lariat!" Incineroar span round and round then hit Drowzee for Super Effective damage.

"Come back with Headbutt!" Drowzee headbutted Incineroar.

"Now use Fire Fang!" Incineroar's teeth set alight and it bit Drowzee, knocking it out.

"Well at least I didn't battle Grimsley!"

"This isn't over yo!" the Grunt shouted before running off. After he did that, Lillie returned with Nebby in the Bag.

"Sorry about that," she said. "Came for the trial?"

"Uh huh!" I said. "I'm just waiting for Acerola…"

"You don't have to wait for me any longer!" Acerola said, catching up with us. "Elliott, I will get the trial set up tomorrow!"

"Great job!" I told her. "For now, let's head back to the Pokémon Center."

"I will be off then," Grimsley replied.

"Wait…" I said. "Grimsley. I… know I will lose but…"

"How do you know?" Grimsley asked. "I will gladly have a battle with you! But to make this a fair chance, I will allow you to use three Pokémon whilst I use one. I believe in life you need to take chances, but I also believe that for this, a fair chance will need to be made."

"Great!" I replied.

Lillie quickly healed my Pokémon and said that she would meet me back at the Center. "Good luck!" she said.

"It's settled!" Grimsley said. "One Vs. Three! Take your chance my friend!"

Elliott Vs. Grimsley

"I'm using Bisharp!" Grimsley shouted, sending out a black and red Pokémon with blades all over it.

Bisharp (キリキザン)

#338

Dark/Steel Type

Sword Blade Pokémon

5'03" (1.6 m)

154.3 lbs (70 kg)

It leads a group of Pawniard. Bisharp doesn't change its expression when it deals the finishing blow to an opponent.

Pawniard -Lv 52- Bisharp

"I choose Toucannon!" I shouted. "Use Beak Blast!" Bisharp's beak started heating up.

"Now use Swords Dance!" Bisharp did a dance that sharpened its blades. The Beak Blast was not very effective. "And now use Iron Head!" Bisharp's head blade started shining, and it headbutted Toucannon, knocking it out.

"Thanks," I told it. "Now I'm using Incineroar!" Fire Type moves would be Super Effective against Bisharp.

"Use X-Scissor!" Bisharp slashed at Incineroar in an X formation, doing lots to it.

"Now Fire Fang!" Incineroar chomped down on Bisharp for a Super Effective hit.

"And now Night Slash!" Bisharp's blade hands went black and it slashed at Incineroar. It was down.

"Okay," I said. "Final Pokémon time! Let's do this Hariyama!" It was a Fighting Type, a great matchup for Bisharp.

"Bisharp, Iron Head!" Bisharp hit Hariyama with its steel head once again. Hariyama took a massive blow.

"Ready?" I asked Hariyama. We put our hands in front. "You may be a former Dark Type Elite Four member, but that's your weakness! It's time for… ALL OUT PUMMELLING!" We punched the air multiple times and with one big punch, Hariyama hit Bisharp multiple times before delivering one last smack… that barely finished Bisharp!

"Iron Head!" Bisharp hit Hariyama once more, knocking it out.

Grimsley smiled. "I have to say, I'm impressed. But I will warn you, taking chances, whilst necessary in life, won't always work. I do hope that by chance; our paths will cross again." He recalled Bisharp and walked off.

"Well," I said. "Then there is a chance we will be victorious in our trial tomorrow!" I said.

"You said it! Roto!"
