Chapter 53:
The Mother Beast
Location: Vast Poni Canyon
"Keep at it Machamp!" I said as Machamp shoved some square boulders into the holes, allowing me and Lillie to cross. "You okay?"
"Yep!" she said.
"Great!" I replied. "Okay, now we should start scaling down. Keep it up and we'll be at the end in the allocated time!"
In the next cave, there was a single Scientist.
"Let's work on my latest invention; my charisma!"
Elliott Vs. Scientist Ikaika
"Muk, go!" shouted Ikaika. He sent out his Poison/Dark Type.
"And I'm using Hariyama!" I replied. "Start with Fake Out!" One clap meant that Muk flinched. "And now use Close Combat!" Hariyama punched Muk a few times, almost doing it in one go.
"Gunk Shot!" Muk fired a ball of gunk at Hariyama. It did a lot and also poisoned Hariyama.
"Finish with Seismic Toss!" Hariyama threw Muk onto the ground, defeating it just before Hariyama went down from the poison.
"Now Magnezone, go!" A Steel Type was next.
"And I choose Incineroar!" I replied. "Flamethrower!" Incineroar blasted Magnezone with flames.
"Now Discharge!" Magnezone sent sparks flying everywhere, hitting Incineroar in the process.
"Finish with another Flamethrower!" One last below of fire finished Magnezone.
"Looks like I'll need some more tweaks to my charisma!"
After that battle, we came out of the cave to find the road and bridges down to what looked like the Trial site. Towering above the next cave in the distance was a large rock with a shrine that had the sun and moon symbols seen on the flute.
"That must be it," I said. "The Alter of the Moone."
"Will you be quiet?" The voice we just heard came from Mina, the artist from the Seafolk Village who was in front of her canvas doing work on a brilliant painting.
"Sorry," I said. "So… are you the Trial Captain?"
"Yes and no," Mina replied. "Yes, I am A Trial Captain. No. I'm not THE Trial Captain."
"So, who izz? Roto?"
"There isn't a specific one," she said. "This Trial is said to be the very first Trial in Alola, and as such many citizens have to take it turns. Except the Kahuna of course who has a lot of work to do and as it turns out, I'm doing it this time. Double trial work, yippee. But for now I am taking a break."
"Break over!" I said. I so wanted to take away the canvas, but it was a good painting of the Canyon; I couldn't bring myself to do it. "Meet you down there."
"Urgh, fine. This vacation to Kanto can't come quick enough. See you at the bottom." Mina walked off down the bridge.
"She's lezz enthusiazztic than Nanu. Roto. Well, except in her artizztry."
We all walked down the bridges and through a small cave which took us to the road that led to the bottom of the Canyon and the trial site. There were some Trainers waiting there.
"Let's just get this over with," I said. I walked in front of a Punk Guy.
"No, I'm not part of Team Skull. But I'm about to kick your-"
"And let'zz start the battle! Roto!"

"Go Pangoro!" Adam shouted, sending out a black and white Pokémon with a twig in its mouth.

"Toucannon!" I shouted. "Drill Peck!" Toucannon drilled its beak into Pangoro.
"Use Vital Throw!" Pangoro threw Toucannon into a rock. "And now Bullet Punch!" Before Toucannon could use another move, Pangoro went ahead and bunched it.
"Drill Peck again!" Toucannon did some more drilling, knocking out Pangoro.
"Crawdaunt, you're next!" The other Pokémon was red and crusty with terrifying pincers.

Its pincers often fall off. Unlike with Crabrawler or Clauncher, the meat in its claws it utterly nasty and stinking.

"Ready Toucannon?" Its beak started heating up.
"Razor Shell!" Crawdaunt sliced at Toucannon with its pincers. It was burned in the process.
"And now Beak Blast!" Toucannon shot a beam from its beak at Crawdaunt.
"Come back with Night Slash!" Crawdaunt's pincers went dark, and it swipes at Toucannon.
"Use Bullet Seed!" Toucannon finished with firing multiple seeds at Crawdaunt. It almost went down, but the burn finished it off.
"I should really watch my language."
We continued going down the path. Just before we reached the bottom, I was spotted by a Black Belt.
"Hah! Prepare to-"
"Hold on," said Lillie. "I accept!"
"Really?" I said. "Great idea! Go get em Lil!"

"Go Poliwrath!" Out came a slippery-blue Pokémon with large muscles.

"Let's do this Jangmo-o!" Lillie shouted.
"Poliwrath, Dynamic Punch!" Poliwrath went for the punch, but it missed.
"Now use Screech Jangmo-o!" Jangmo-o let out an ear-piercing noise that lowered Poliwrath's Defense.
"Mind Reader!" Poliwrath concentrated on Jangmo-o.
"Not good! Roto! Mind Reader guaranteezz the next move azz a hit!"
"Use Dragon Claw!" Jangmo-o swiped at Poliwrath.
"Dynamic Punch!" This time, Poliwrath got in a hit that finished Jangmo-o off in one.
"No!" Lillie said. "No. It's okay. I still have Clefairy!" Out came a Pokémon with a Type advantage.
"Double Slap!" Poliwrath slapped Clefairy twice.
"Body Slam!" Clefairy jumped onto Poliwrath.
"Now use Bubble Beam!" Poliwrath then shot bubbles at Clefairy.
"Finish with Disarming Voice!" Clefairy shouted, this time dealing the final blow to Poliwrath.
"Ha…ho…"
Following that astounding victory, we got to the bottom of the slope. The only thing separating me from the Trial Site was a line of Trainers. I was going to take them all down.
"Good luck!" Lillie said. "Let's do this!"
I looked at the sun in the sky. Since we had got off to a late start to let the night catch up, I was hoping that the sun would be in a good position just in case the battle took too long. It was starting to dip slightly behind the canyon.
"First Trainer!" I said, running in front of a male Ace Trainer.
"I'm number one!"

"Go Graveler!" Hiroshi sent out a Graveler, but a blue colour with black bits on it.

When two Graveler fight each other, it fills the surroundings with flashes of light and sound. People call it the "fireworks of the earth."
Geodude -Lv 25- Graveler
"And I'll use Hariyama!" I replied. "Start with Fake Out!" Hariyama clapped in front of Graveler; if Graveler had Sturdy, that took it away. "And now Close Combat!" Hariyama then punched Graveler multiple times, defeating it.
"Okay then. Go Lapras!" An Ice Type. Hariyama was good against this one to, but the Defense drop from Close Combat left me a bit concerned, so I recalled it.
"Go Snorlax!" I shouted.
"Lapras, use Ice Beam!" Lapras blasted a cold beam at Snorlax who took it.
"Snorlax, let's use Belly Drum!" Snorlax patted its stomach. This made it lose a lot of HP in exchange for making its Attack stat the strongest it's ever been!
"Now use Hydro Pump!" Lapras fired a blast of water at Snorlax who barely survived.
"Okay, now that you're Attack is strong, let's see if Lapras can survive this!" It was Z-Move time. "BREAKNECK BLITZ!" Snorlax charged into Lapras at full speed. Even with Lapras' high HP, it barely lived!
"Finish with Ice Beam!" Lapras blasted one final cold beam at Snorlax, defeating it.
"We've got this, don't worry. Go Hariyama!" Hariyama came out and used Fake Out, defeating Lapras.
"I guess I'm just number one in order…"
It was time for the next Trainer. Snorlax had fainted, so it was out of the game. Yes, I was going to do this without healing. It was risky, but that's what I wanted.
Next was a female Veteran Trainer.
"Woah, you're halfway there!"
Elliott Vs. Veteran Heather
"You're up Stoutland!" First up was the Normal Type furry Pokémon.
"Go Hariyama!" I replied.
"Roar!" Stoutland let out a bellow that forced Hariyama to its Pokéball. Slowbro was dragged out in response. "Now use Crunch!" Stoutland chomped down on Slowbro for Super Effective damage.
"Water Pulse!" Slowbro fired a ball of water at Stoutland that confused it.
"Try Crunch again!" Instead, Stoutland hurt itself.
"Now use Zen Headbutt!" the Psychic Type move was a Critical Hit! Stoutland went down.
"Okay Klefki, you're next!" Out came a Pokémon that was literally just a keyring.

It inserts its horn into chinks in metal, absorbing metal ions. For some reason, it collects keys.
Klefki has no known evolutions.
"In that case," I said. "Go Incineroar!" This Fire Type would melt this Steel Type.
"Klefki, Play Rough!" Klefki started getting very violent with Incineroar. It did neutral damage.
"Now use Flamethrower!" Incineroar shot flames at Klefki, almost knocking it out.
"Now use Torment!" Great. Klefki started shouting at Incineroar, disabling Flamethrower for that turn.
"It's not very Effective but use Darkest Lariat!" Unsurprisingly, this didn't do much on Klefki.
"Play Rough again!" Another violent move was sent the way of Incineroar.
"Darkest Lariat once more!" Incineroar span into Klefki, this time knocking it out.
"Impressive, but now it's Glaceon time!" An Ice Type! But I still couldn't use Flamethrower. "Use Hail!" Glaceon created a storm cloud that caused it to start hailing.
"Not good! Roto!"
Suddenly, Incineroar looked at Glaceon which made it terrified. Its Speed fell. "Incineroar, is that Scary Face?" Incineroar looked back at me. "Great! Now we have an opening! Use Flamethrower!" Incineroar shot fire at Glaceon doing massive damage.
"Now Blizzard!" Glaceon shot snow at Incineroar. Because Blizzard doesn't miss in Hail, it was a direct hit; Incineroar fainted.
"Thanks," I told it. "We've still won! Go Hariyama! Use Fake Out!" Hariyama clapped in front of Glaceon, knocking it out.
"And now you're more than halfway!"
As well as I was doing, I still needed to catch my breath. I was two Pokémon down and one Trainer away from the Trial Site. I had come this far, and I wasn't going to yield.
"You're doing so well! Roto! Keep it up!"
"Do it for Alola!" shouted Lillie.
"I'm on it!" I replied, running forward in front of a male Veteran.
"YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

"I choose Noctowl!" A brown Flying Type Pokémon was sent out.

"Let's use Mismagius!" I shouted. "Use Psychic!" Mismagius blasted Noctowl with Psychic power, lowering its Sp. Defense in the process.
"Come back with Air Slash!" A slice of air was fired at Mismagius, but it dodged.
"Use Psychic again!" Mismagius attacked Noctowl once again, this time knocking it out.
"Gengar, you're next!" Ghost Type Vs. Ghost Type; a match made in heaven. "Use Shadow Ball!" Gengar fired a black ball at Mismagius, almost taking it down.
"Now use Shadow Ball back!" Mismagius retaliated with its own Shadow Ball, also doing lots to it.
"Now use Dark Pulse!" Gengar fired black energy at Mismagius, dealing the final blow. This was getting dangerous.
"Toucannon, you're next!" Toucannon flew in.
"Nizze idea! Roto! Shadow Ball will do nothing on a Normal Type!"
"Thunderbolt!" Was not expecting that. Gengar fired a bolt of lightning at Toucannon, taking a way a good chunk of its HP.
"Drill Peck!" Toucannon rammed its beak into Gengar, knocking it out.
"My next Pokémon is Slowking!" Next was Slowbro's split evolution.
"Use Bullet Seed!" Toucannon fired some seeds at Slowking. They managed to take away at least a half of its HP.
"Psychic!" Slowking then bashed Toucannon around telekinetically. This finished things off.
"Okay Hariyama, go!" I shouted. "Fake Out!" Hariyama made Slowking flinch. A Knock Off managed to knock it out.
"Finally, Flygon!" The last Pokémon was green with wings and red-tinted eyes.

This Pokémon hides in the heart of sandstorms it creates and seldom appears when people see it.
Trapinch -Lv 35- Vibrava -Lv 45- Flygon
"Use Dragon Rush!" Covered in blue energy, Flygon flew into Hariyama. It couldn't only take a little bit more.
"Close Combat!" Hariyama punched Flygon wildly.
"Now Earthquake!" Flygon made the ground shake, knocking out Hariyama.
"Final Pokémon time! Go Slowbro!" I knew just what I needed to do.
"Use Bug Buzz!" Flygon started flapping its wings to emit green soundwaves. This did Super Effective damage to Slowbro.
"We're not finished!" It was time. Z-Energy surrounded us. "It's time for water to wash away sand! HYDRO VORTEX!" Water surrounded us and enveloped Flygon. Slowbro created a whirlpool that bashed around Flygon, which was enough to knock it out and win me the battle.
"You may now go through…"
"I did it!" I said, just as Mina unlocked the Trial gate. "Okay, onwards!"
"Hold on," Lillie said. She healed my Pokémon for me. "That was risky; please don't do it for the Trial."
"I'm exzzited! Roto!"
"Lillie," Mina said. "I know why you're here; you may watch." She then turned to me. "As for you, this might be a bit straightforward. But this is also the first Trial created, so it needs to remain unchanged. Come on in."
Trial Start!
In the small cave, we saw the exit at the end. With it was the Z-Crystal podium.
"Okay," Mina said. "All you need to do is walk to it."
"That'zz it? Roto?"
"Oh, and look out for the Pokémon," Mina told me.
I took her advice and walked forward. It didn't take long for something to jump out. That something? A Jangmo-o.
"We've seen this thing first hand!" I said. "Go Incineroar!" I knew Fire Type moves didn't do well on Dragon Types, so that's why I wanted to use it first. "Darkest Lariat!" Incineroar span into Jangmo-o. Then, Jangmo-o came back with Dragon Claw. "One more Darkest Lariat!" The Dark Type move finished it off.
That's what this Trial was? Just walking and battling? Okay then. I walked forward a bit more and prepared for the next Pokémon. It jumped out, revealing itself as Jangmo-o's evolved form. It was bigger with a long tail and arms.
Hakamo-o (ジャランゴ)

It makes noise by clanging its scales together. When the rhythm has reached its peak, Hakamo-o attacks.
Jangmo-o -Lv 35- Hakamo-o
"Go Incineroar!" I shouted. Hakamo-o used a Super Effective Sky Uppercut; I needed to get Incineroar out of there. "Use Scary Face!" Incineroar lowered Hakamo-o's Speed. I then switched out for Mismagius who took a Sky Uppercut. Well, I saw took but it did nothing on the Ghost Type. "Psychic attack!" Mismagius gave Hakamo-o a Psychic blast, almost beating it. Then, Hakamo-o used Headbutt. Yeah, that did nothing either. "Psychic once again!" A final Psychic defeating Hakamo-o.
"Alright!" I said, running over to the podium. There it was; a Z-Crystal. This one being a light blue colour. "Let's…"
I felt a presence. A presence that something was coming up. I knew how it felt; I had felt it six times prior. But this one was my biggest challenge yet.
A large Pokémon with cymbal-like scales all over its body. As it roared, they clanged together. It sent a chill down my spine.
"That'zz Jangmo-o'zz final form?! Roto?!"

When it spots enemies, it threatens them by jingling the scales on its tail. Weak opponents will crack and flee in panic.

"Wow!" Lillie said. "So that's why my Jangmo-o will become one day!"
Totem Kommo-o roared once again, the scales bashing together. I stood my ground; I wasn't going to run.
Elliott Vs. Totem Kommo-o
All of Totem Kommo-o's stats rose. This Totem meant business.
"First up, Hariyama!" I shouted. "Fake Out!" Hariyama clapped at Totem Kommo-o, making it flinch. However, it wasn't going to give up. It started calling, and a purple and black Pokémon with speaker-like ears appeared.

This hot-blooded Pokémon attacks anything it sees with ultrasonic waves that can crush boulders.
Noibat -Lv 48- Noivern
Noivern used Air Slash, doing lots of damage to Hariyama. Then, Totem Kommo-o used Sky Uppercut. Hariyama flinched from the Air Slash, allowing for Noivern to finishing it off with another attack.
"He'zz already a Pokémon down?! Roto?"
"Snorlax, go!" I shouted. Noivern used Screech, lowering Snorlax's Defense which allowed for another Sky Uppercut to do quite a bit. "Use Body Slam on Noivern!" Snorlax jumped onto Noivern, paralysing it. Totem Kommo-o used another Sky-Uppercut. Snorlax could only take one more attack. "Use Giga Impact!" Snorlax charged into Noivern, almost defeating it. Noivern couldn't move the next turn, but it didn't matter because Totem Kommo-o dealt with Snorlax anyway.
"Already two down?!" I said. "What kind of Totem Pokémon is this?!"
"The one who is going to lose!" Lillie said. "Keep at it!"
"I was planning to! Okay Incineroar, I choose you!" Out came my Fire Type. Totem Kommo-o used Sky Uppercut, but it missed. "Now Incineroar, use Darkest Lariat!" Incineroar span into Noivern, defeating it. Now that it was missing an ally, Totem Kommo-o roared to send down another Pokémon. This was red with pincers.
Scizor (ハッサム)

Its body is like steel. Its tough, heavy pincers are more suited to smashing enemies than grabbing them.
Scyther -Trade holding Metal Coat- Scizor
Totem Kommo-o used Sky Uppercut on Incineroar, almost knocking it out. "Use Flamethrower!" Incineroar fired fire at Scizor, roasting away all its health. Then, Totem Kommo-o started clanging its scaled together. The soundwaves finished off Incineroar.
"Zzt! Clanging Scales! Kommo-o'zz signature move! Roto!"
"Toucannon!" I shouted. Its beak started heating up, but Totem Kommo-o always had a plan. It used Stone Edge. Sharp stones were fired at Toucannon, knocking it out.
"Two more plans," I said. "Go Slowbro!" Out came my slow Pokémon. Totem Kommo-o used Thunder Punch. It was Super Effective. "Now use Zen Headbutt!" Slowbro attacked Totem Kommo-o with its glowing head. Another Thunder Punch was used. This was a Critical Hit. Slowbro was paralyzed to. It couldn't move allowing for another Thunder Punch to finish it.
"Mismagius, we need to do this!" I shouted. I put out my hands. "Let's give the Totem a Psychic experience it won't forget!" Z-Energy surrounded us. "SHATTERED PSYCHE!" Mismagius, using telekinesis, bashed Totem Kommo-o about everywhere before giving it a mind blast. It was down!
"They did it!" Lillie said.
"So, he did," Mina replied. "I can see why he's so determined to save Lusamine." Mina went over. "Okay, the Dragonium Z is yours." I took it out.
I obtained… a Z-Crystal!
"Now I know I'm not an expert at this, but this is what you do." Mina clenched her hands together in front, then slowly opened them. "That's how you use Devastating Drake."
"I'll remember," I said. Outside, I saw the sky start to turn orange. "Lillie, I think we have a mother to save."
Lillie gulped. "Yes, I'm ready." She clung onto her backpack. "I have Nebby with me…" She then looked at the rest of us. Me, Rotom Dex and Mina. "And my friends!"
"Not me," said Mina. "I have some work to do."
"Painting?" I asked.
"Yes," she responded. "If this is the end of the world might as well finish my masterpiece."
Location: Altar of the Moone
We were confronted with a very long staircase that led up to the Altar. The orange of the sky was beaming upon the stones.
"This is it," I said. Even with a Trial just behind me, I didn't feel out of breath.
Me and Lillie walked up the steps. One by one, thinking about what might happen at the top. All the people in Alola struggling with Ultra Beasts.
We got to the top where the Ultra Recon Squad were waiting for us. And yes, they were playing rummy.
"Thank you for making it," said Captain Phyco. As the sky got darker, me and Lillie looked at the structure. Below our feet was the moon symbol. There was a flight of stairs that led up to the sun and moon symbols which were in front of a mechanism of some kind.
"People actually built this," I said. "It's seen some wear and tear over the years, but I'm nonetheless amazed."
"Lillie," said Dulce. "If you may, please get out Cosmoem, or Nebby as you call it and put it on the giant moon shape just over there."
Lillie, with her face more serious than I had ever seen, got out Nebby from her Bag, still in the cylinder. She put it onto the floor just as the sun finally hid its face behind the rocks completely. The stars in the sky started to twinkle.
"We're picking up Ultra Wormhole activity," said Soliera. "I think it might be reacting to Cosmoe- I mean, Nebby."
"Well?" said Zossie. "Play those flutes! See what happens!"
I stood on the moon symbol and Lillie on the sun. We got out our instruments, looked at each other, nodded and put them to our mouths.
Weirdly, as we played the song, notes just sort of came to us. Even as someone who has never really played a flute (well, except that time in band practice where I think I caused deafness in my music teacher by blowing too hard), it felt… weirdly natural.
Immediately, water started coming from the mechanism. Below us, the symbols lit up. On the mechanism, water went round and round, filling it and making a circular pattern around the moon symbol. Then, the moon symbol started opening. It opened completely to reveal a laser charging up.
"Zzt! I think the mechanizzm izz uzzing Hyper Beam! Roto!"
A colourful laser was fired at Nebby. Energy surrounded it to the point where we had to shield our eyes from the blinding light.
Eventually, we could open them again. In Nebby's place… was a sight to behold. A large-purple Pokémon with wings and a moon shape on its head. Our jaw dropped when we saw it.
"Nebby?!" we all shouted.
"What is that?" I asked.
Lunala (ルナァーラ)

Said to live in another world, this Pokémon devours light, drawing the moonless dark veil of night over the brightness of day. It sometimes summons unknown powers and life-forms here to this world from the holes that lead to other worlds.

"Nebby!" Lillie said. "Is that really you?!"
"Haha!" said Captain Phyco. "It worked! It really worked!"
"Excuse me," said Dulce. "Look." He pointed to the mechanism where the first signs of an Ultra Wormhole were showing. It was faint but certainly there.
"Elliott," Phyco said. "Listen very carefully my boy. You need to catch Lunala."
"Wait…" I said. "No. It should be Lillie's job. She took care of Nebby, she should have the opportunity to catch it!"
"Elliott," Lillie said. "As far as I'm aware, you should have more use for Nebby… No. It's Lunala. You should catch it. If it wasn't for you… I wouldn't have got this far."
"You sure?" I said.
"Guys?" Soliera said. "We REALLY can't be wasting time like this."
"Okay," I said. "Lunala, I challenge you to a battle!"
Lunala gave out an ear piercing screech (not as ear piercing as that music class example I gave). I took that as a yes.
Elliott Vs. Lunala
"Okay Hariyama, go!" I shouted. Lunala started by putting its wings together to look like the moon, then fired a powerful beam at Hariyama.
"What is that?!" I asked.
"It's Moongeist Beam of course!" said Zossie. "It's a powerful Ghost Type move that ignores Abilities!"
"Thanks. Okay Hariyama, Knock Off!" Hariyama slapped Lunala for lots of damage. Lunala then used Shadow Ball. This Critical Hit knocked out Hariyama.
"Such power!" Lillie said. "Even I never knew that Nebby would become this."
"Incineroar!" I shouted, sending it out. "Flamethrower!" Incineroar shot fire at Lunala. Then, Lunala sent out a burst of black energy.
"That'zz Night Dazzze! Roto!"
"Enough!" I said. I got out a Dusk Ball. "Let's try this!" I threw it at Lunala. It went inside. We watched it in awe as… Lunala broke free!
"Well did you think that Lunala was going to just do that?!" Dulce said, all whilst cautiously watching the Ultra Wormhole. It was almost complete. "But you best hurry up and capture it!" Lunala then surrounded itself in stars.
"Cosmic Power!" said Lillie.
"Enough!" I said. "Dusk Ball!" I threw it again and this time…
Lunala stayed put!
"Did he juzzt… Roto…"
"He caught a Legendary!" Lillie said.
I sent Toucannon back to the PC for this. "Here," said Captain Phyco. "Let me heal your Pokémon." He did just that; everyone was happy and healthy again.
"We've got 30 seconds until Ultra Wormhole can be entered!" Dulce said. "Get your final preparations ready."
"And as for you Lillie." Phyco gave him a Pokéball. "This is a rental, but you'll need it to go through Ultra Space."
Lillie threw it, and out came a magnificent white Pokémon with a mane that looked like the sun.
"Wow!" I said.

"So that's what happens when you play it during the day?" I said, getting on top of Lunala.
Solgaleo crouched down and let Lillie get on. "It feels so weird," she said.

"Look for the white wormhole whilst you're in there," Phyco told us. "And good luck."
"Get ready!" Dulce said as Lunala roared as the Ultra Wormhole started forming even more. "Ultra Wormhole in enterable position in…

Solgaleo and Lunala flew up and towards the Wormhole.
"EKAHI! NOW!"
The Wormhole had a burst of size and the two of us entered.
Location: Ultra Space
We opened our eyes and saw Solgaleo and Lunala flying threw what seemed like a large tube of portals.
"So, we need to look for a white one?" I said. "Sounds easy enough."
"Look out!" Lillie said as Lunala went straight into some sort of electrical object. It slowed it down. Meanwhile Lillie and Solgaleo went through a gold ring that sped her up.
"I'll catch up!" I said, just as I felt Lunala being sucked in. "Oh no! This isn't the way!"
We got caught up…"
Location: Ultra Space Rocky
"Where are we?" I asked. We were in what looked to be a rocky mountain like area.
"Thizz izzn't the plazze. Roto."
"Then let's try again," I said.
Suddenly, we heard a loud roar. We looked up and my jaw dropped. Before us… was Dialga. The Legendary Pokémon of time. It saw us and started firing a Roar of Time.
"Let's get outta here!" I said as I hopped on Lunala and went back through the Ultra Wormhole.
Location: Altar of the Moone
Me, Lunala and Rotom Dex came out of the portal and back to the Altar.
"Everything alright?" said Phyco.
"Nope," I said. "Went through the wrong one."
"We'll allow a mistake this once," he said, brushing me off. "But be aware that this Wormhole is only open for so long, so you can't be wasting time."
"I know," I said. "I've got the hang of it now! Let's go Lunala!" Once again, Lunala flew in.
Location: Ultra Space
This time, we had the hang of things. Lunala flew through the golds rings to speed passed the wormholes that would usually suck as in. "Look for a white one!" I said.
Just then, we saw Lillie. "Hey!" she said. "You get the wrong one to?"
"Yeah!" I said. "I found Dialga! What about you?"
"Lugia!" she replied. "Let's try that one!"
We both saw a white wormhole. "Do it!" I said as Lunala charged on in.
Location: Ultra Deep Sea
All around me, we saw UB-01 floating around like Tentacool in the ocean. Colourful rocks were all over the place.
Lillie popped through the portal shortly afterwards. "We're here," she said.
We both walked down a rocky path. The UB-01 didn't seem to pay much attention to us, but they were still very much aware of our presence.
"Look!" I said. The familiar blonde hair and white dress of Lusamine could be seen lying on the floor. I ran over to it, praying that it wasn't just a body. I nudged it. "Lusamine!" I said. "Wake up!"
Lillie came over and put her hand over her mouth. Her heart sank. "She's… not breathing…" she replied.
"Then…" I said. "She must be…"
"Do not worry yourself…"
"What?!" I said. "What do you…"
Lusamine got up, a look on her face a mix of the evil face we associated with her, but also a look of complete and utter chaos. "The Lusamine you know… is gone. But… my body… personality… it has a new life!" Her hair started turning purple.
"What'zz going on?! Roto?!"
Lusamine started floating. "I am no longer just a human that was the head of the Aether Foundation." Suddenly, a barrier formed around her head and tentacles started sprouting. Her hair fused into this barrier, and she looked like a combination of Lusamine and UB-01.
"Lusamine!" I said. "What have you done?!"
"What have I done?!" she said. "I have become… the most powerful being in Ultra Space! Mixing my intellect with the power of UB-01, I am unstoppable!" She then looked down at Lillie. "Unless of course… you are willing to accept your sweet mother again."
Lillie's eyes showed fear. She stepped back a few times. "Stop it Lusamine!" I shouted. "You're scaring her! This is not you!"
"Stay out of this!" she said. With that, she slapped me with a tentacle, and I hit a rock. I fell to the floor. "Now! Listen to me daughter!" A UB-01 came over to Lillie, and started wrapping a tentacle round her right arm. "Join me, and we can become the greatest force in Ultra Space! And once we conquer there, we will start conquering the world, starting with the Alola region!"
"No!" Lillie replied. She smacked away a UB-01.
"What?!" Lusamine said. "Do not turn this down! I am your mother!"
"I can't think of anything worse than working with you!" she said. "I tell you what, adventuring with Elliott and Hau… I've become a much better person with them in an hour than I have had from eleven yours with you! They have been my best friends! Professor Kukui and Professor Burnet? My parental figures!"
"That's it!" I said, as I trudged over to Lillie. "You show her!"
Lillie clinched her first, and her eyes welled up. "You… ARE A TERRIBLE MOTHER!"
Lusamine flinched at that. "You… UGLY! LITTLE! I will never forgive you for stealing Cosmog! And ever since you met Elliott and learned to defy your own mother…" She turned her attention towards me. "HOW DARE YOU! YOU'VE BRAINWASHED MY DAUGHTER!"
"You've done that yourself," I said, getting up. "I helped her discover who she really is. One of the nicest, bravest… dare I say prettiest people I have ever met!"
"So be it." A Nihilego came down and grabbed Lillie by the arm again. "ELLIOTT!" she shouted.
"It's your choice," Lusamine said. "Either you leave this world and let me and my daughter fulfill our destiny… or I end you right here!"
"It's not happening!" I said. "I am Elliott Mitchell, a Trainer from Alola! And Lusamine… I WILL STOP YOU!"
"So that's how it will be then? Fine! This will be your end!"
Elliott Vs. The Mother Beast
"Clefable, go!" Out came her Clefable. It looked noticeably angry this time.
"The influx of Ultra energy must be making it stronger," I said. "But I can still beat it! Go Snorlax!" Snorlax was of course sent out.
"Clefable, Moonblast!" Using the power of the moon, Clefable shot a beam at Snorlax.
"Use Belly Drum!" I shouted as Snorlax patted its tummy. In exchange for HP, Snorlax's HP increased tenfold.
"Use Moonblast again!" Clefable attacked with the move once again. Snorlax couldn't take much more.
"Body Slam!" Snorlax jumped onto Clefable. Doing this paralyzed it! Knowing that it couldn't take another hit, I had Snorlax use Giga Impact to blast away the rest of Clefable's energy.
"Lopunny!" Lusamine said, sending out the Normal Type. "Use Jump Kick!" Lopunny kicked Snorlax, officially knocking it out.
"We're not done!" I said. "Go Mismagius!" It was time for a Ghost Type to not take damage from Lopunny's moves. Or so I thought.
"Use Bounce!" Lopunny jumped up, dodging Mismagius' Psychic. It then came down and hit Mismagius.
"Psychic again!" Mismagius hit Lopunny with some more Psychic power. "And again!" Mismagius hit Lopunny, but Lusamine's creepy grin that I hated to be more than familiar with showed itself.
"Mirror Coat!" Lopunny started sparkling, and it hit Mismagius back for half the damage. It was almost down.
"Mirror Coat! A move that doezz 2x the amount of damage from a Special move that happened that turn! Roto!"
"Now use Brutal Swing!" Lopunny's ears went dark, and it hit Mismagius. It was down.
"Okay then," I said. "Next up, Lunala!" I shouted.
"WHAT?!" Lusamine said. "But… how can…"
"Yes!" I said. "The Nebby you wanted to experiment on? This is it now! Lunala, Night Daze!" Lunala blasted Lopunny with darkness. Lopunny fainted.
"How dare you use my experiment for your own! Go Milotic!" she shouted.
"Moongeist Beam!" Lunala shot a purple beam at Milotic.
"Now Milotic, Hydro Pump!" Milotic came back by blasting water at Lunala.
I decided to recall Lunala for Slowbro, who took an Ice Beam and then a Dragon Pulse. "Use Zen Headbutt!" Slowbro hit Milotic with its head.
"Dragon Pulse!" Milotic blasted some more Dragon energy at Slowbro.
"Zen Headbutt!" Slowbro hit Milotic with its glowing head once more, this time landing a Critical Hit! Milotic went down.
"Grr. Okay Lilligant, go!" With this being a Grass Type, I decided to switch to Incineroar. "Lilligant, use Petal Dance!" Lilligant danced around, hitting Incineroar with petals.
"Flamethrower!" Incineroar then blasted Lilligant with fire. It did about half.
"Keep it going with Petal Dance!" Another lot of petals hit Incineroar.
"Flamethrower!" One last blast of fire (not Fire Blast) and Lilligant was defeated.
"You sick… go Bewear!" Out came a Fighting Type.
"Go Hariyama!" I shouted back. "Fake Out!" Bewear flinched, and then it was time. "Let's finish this Ultra Beast once and for all!" Me and Hariyama did a punching motion. "ALL OUT PUMELLING!" Hariyama punched Bewear multiple times to the point where it barely hung on.
"Flail!" Bewear started flailing about, doing quite a bit to Hariyama.
"Finish with Seismic Toss!" Hariyama took Bewear and threw it down, defeating it.
"That's that," I said. "Lusamine… or whatever you are now, I've won."
"No… NOOOOOO!" Lusamine shouted. Immediately, we saw the human parts of Lusamine start to be taken over by the virus that had mostly mutated her. "This isn't me! I'm supposed to be the most powerful being in the universe! What have you done?!"
"You've done that yourself!" I said. "To much Ultra Energy has gotten to you! It's over!"
"NOOOO!" she shouted. The last of her screams were covered up as the virus completely took her over, before fading away. Her Pokéballs dropped to the floor and Lillie picked them up.
We couldn't be horrified for long; we saw the Ultra Wormhole start to close! "Come on!" I said. We hopped on our Legendary Pokémon again and went through."
Location: Alter of the Moone
We were practically shot out back to the Altar as the wormhole closed. We landed on the ground with a thud. The Ultra Recon Squad, now joined by Hapu, Gladion, Professor Burnet, Professor Kukui, Hala and Hau ran over to us.
"Elliott!" said the Professor. "Is everything okay?"
"I…" that's all I said. "Lusamine…"
Lillie got up and went straight to Gladion. "Mother. She's gone."
Gladion nodded. "I knew this would happen. She got too caught up with her obsession."
"But at least you are all fine!" Hau said, before seeing Lillie's sad face. "Lillie. I know how it feels to lose a Mum. But we're your family now."
Suddenly, we had a call. It was from Olivia. "Good news! The Ultra Beasts are retreating! What did you do?"
I looked at Olivia sadly. "What had to be done…" I replied. Suddenly, I felt very weak. "Urgh…" I said. I fell to the ground in anguish.
"Elliott!" Gladion said. "Come on, you need some rest. Let's get to the Pokémon Center."
"Okay…" I said, before everything went black.
