Chapter #1 - New Beginnings
The bus ride was uneventful. Nobody else was there and it seemed to last an eternity. Fortunately, the music from your headphones provided a much needed distraction to pass the time.
The view outside the window went from a bustling urban city with shops, skyscrapers, vehicles piled in traffic with pedestrians filling the pavements to rural countryside. Trees and wildlife, vegetation and cleaner air. It was different, extremely so, but pleasant. And you would take starting a new any day over rotting in the endless offices at Joja Co. with an expensive, shitty apartment.
It was called Stardew Valley, which also housed a small town named Pelican Town. You had never heard of it before until you opened the letter from your late great-grandfather. He had left you his farmland and farm styled cottage in his will. You seized the opportunity to get away from the dull life you had back in Zuzu City, escaping to this Pelican Town to try and make something of life while you can.
But will they be accepting of new comers? Will it be full of old people who just about remember my great old man?
Only time will tell, I suppose, You think to yourself. You shrug slightly and lean on the window of the shabby bus, staring out to the hills of green grass and large trees, waiting to arrive to the place you can hopefully call home...

But when he caught wind of news that spread across town in practically seconds, he was both shocked amd intrigued. A new resident.
It was all Pelican Town was talking about. Who they could be, what they could be like, what gender they even was. It was all so exciting for everyone and even Harvey was feeling more giddy at the premise of a chance for a friend, someone to talk to.
However, his hopes were cut short. Who am I kidding? He thought to himself, his shoulders slumping again as he leaned on the desk in the reception of his clinic, Those days are long gone for me... He sighed, his self doubt and low self-esteem killing any excitement at a potential friend or--
He shook off the thoughts, thinking it preposterous within the second. He was in his mid-thirties, had grown more chub in areas he wouldn't like to admit and had noticed a couple grey hairs poking in his thick, brunette locks.
He leans back in his chair with another deep sigh. Despite his anxieties, his mind still held an ounce of hope; an ounce of hope that this mystery resident would be able to see past his insecurities. But who am I kidding? My time might as well have passed, let along the time for lady chasing...
