Episode 10: Duel Monsters History
-Paradise Beach-
Yuya: Cowabunga!
Yuya jumped into the ocean as he was wearing red swim shorts and landed in the water with a splash.
Ryuga: Hey, Yuya! Don't start without us!
Ryuga was wearing blue swim shorts as he joined the water.
He and Yuya, as well as the rest of the gang, were at the beach.
Luke: Looks like they're having a day at the beach.
Romin: It's been a while since I went to the beach.
Yujin: If we were back home, then I'll had invited you all too the beach. I'll even bring my Dolphin friend for all of you to meet.
Oragonking: Don't worry, after this episode is over, we'll take a break and over to the beach.
Everyone: YEAAAAH!
This cheered everyone up as they pumped their fist in the air, even Neil as he calmly raised his fist in the air, and Seatbastian followed him.
Tate: Hey! Wait up, you guys!
Tate entered the water followed by Frederick.
Tate shorts are dark blue, while Frederick is wearing yellow shorts and a white shirt.
Frederick: BRRR! The water is so cold!
Frederick held himself as he started shivering.
Sora: That's because you entered the water too fast, Frederick.
Sora was standing at the edge of the water, wearing light blue swim shorts.
Standing next to him were Zuzu and Allie.
Allie is wearing a one piece swimsuit, while Zuzu is wearing a pink halter crop bikini and a pink skirt.
Kaizo blushed seeing Zuzu in a swimsuit.
Kaizo: Ah… if only Celeste was in a swimsuit too.
Romin then threated him with a wrench.
Kaizo: Never mind, Romin is still the best!
The wrench retreated.
Ryuga was currently on his back as he floated on the cold, refreshing water.
Ryuga: Aah. This feels great. I never knew the beach feels this good!
Hearing that, Yuya turned to Ryuga.
Yuya: Oh that's right! This is your first time on the beach, huh, Ryuga?
Ryuga: Yeah. There wasn't even a lake or river where anyone could swim. I now know why everyone loves going to the beach so much!
Ryuga eyed at the beach and saw that his own Dragons were enjoying the beach as well.
Red-Eyes was underneath the shade of an umbrella as he was taking a nap.
Red-Eyes: (Snores)...
Bahamut was up in the sky with his arms crossed as he's enjoying the salty breeze.
As for Blue-Eyes, she was taking a swim near Ryuga. Though Ryuga doesn't know if she is swimming since she's a Spirit.
Ryuga: And I'm loving it as well!
Yudias: Whoa! Looks like even Dragons loves having a good time at the beach!
-Ryuga's Deck-
White Night is the only Dragon who isn't present as she's inside Ryuga's Deck that's inside his back.
White Night: What's so great about the beach anyway?
White Night retreated inside because she doesn't like the beach and its bright Sun.
Yuhi: Except for her since she's a Dragon made of ice.
-Paradise Beach-
Zuzu: It's too bad that Gong couldn't come.
Yuya: Yeah. He still wanted to train before the Championship started.
-Strong Dojo, Paradise City-
Inside a room alone, Gong was sitting there in a meditated pose with steaming rice balls on his shoulders.
Yuran: That's an interesting position to meditate.
-Paradise Beach-
Ryuga: Gong did want to be prepared. I understand why, which is why tomorrow we'll start training again. Otherwise we'll get a scolding from him!
Yuya: That sounds like Gong alright. Too bad Skips wasn't able to come.
Zuzu and Allie entered the water and approached Yuya and Ryuga.
Zuzu: Dad has some important paperwork to do at School. Besides… It's nice to finally have some peace and quiet while Dad isn't around.
-Lounge Room, You Show Duel School, Paradise City-
In the Lounge Room at You Show, Skip was finally done with the paperwork as he rested on the sofa.
Skip: Whew! Glad that's over with! Now then…
Skip was sitting in silence on the sofa… until he finally released a tantrum.
Skip: I can't believe Zuzu and the others went to the Beach without me!
Everyone sweatdropped at this.
Romin: Well I understand why Zuzu didn't want her Dad to tag along.
Skip calmed down as he crossed his arms.
Skip: Even I need a little R&R. Plus, I could really go for a barbecue right now…
Skip started to drool as he thought about it. But then, the handle of the door turned open, snapping Skip out of his dreaming as he looked up at the opening door in surprise.
Skip: Who's there?!
Entering the room was a dark skinned girl a year older than Zuzu. She has shoulder length black hair and red eyes. She wears a small blue shirt with an LID badge pinned on it over a crean one-piece long-sleeved shirt and shorts combination with black skin-tight shorts underneath ending above the knee, and blue boots.
Yuo: Another LID Student?
Skip immediately recognized her as Julia Krystal, a Student from the Leo Institute in the Fusion Course. She battled her daughter when LID tried to take over the School, and to his dismay, his Zuzu lost to her.
Skip: Julia Krystal? Why are you here and how did you get inside?
Gavian: He must have forgotten to lock the door. That's very irresponsible of him.
Julia turned to Skip as she got to the point.
Julia: Listen, I didn't want to come back here. But I'm under the instructions of the Leo Institute.
Skip was curious as to what the Leo Institute wants now.
Skip: So? What do you want then?
Julia: We recently learned that the Gemini Duelist that we've been looking for has enrolled in this School. The one who Mister Declan is interested in and is also skilled in wielding Dragon Type Monsters.
Skip was surprised to hear this.
Skip: The Leo Institute is still after Ryuga?
Yugi: Those guys don't know when to give up, do they?
Julia: So that's his name. Ryuga. Anyways, after hearing that he's now learning here, I decided to come here and meet him in person. So where is he?
Skip: Hold it right there!
Skip stood up as he faced Julia.
Skip: I'm not telling you anything unless you explain what LID is planning to do with Ryuga!
Julia sighed as she couldn't believe that she has to explain this.
Julia: Fine. I'm sure you are already aware that the Leo Institute is always looking for talented Duelists with plenty of potential. So after we received word of Ryuga, we sent all available personnel to try and locate him. Despite our best efforts, he somehow ended up here with you guys, which is why I decided to drop by and look for him.
Yuamu: They want to recruit Ryuga because of his skills? I understand why someone would be interested for the best, but still…
Skip: You're planning to take Ryuga from us?!
Julia was unfazed by Skip's outburst.
Julia: Obviously. After all, if Ryuga is as great as they say, then he's far too good for a wannabe School like this, so he should be with the elites of LID instead.
Thickmarks appeared above Skip's head when Julia called his School a wannabe. Julia sighed as she learned that her target isn't in the School.
Julia: But it seems that Ryuga isn't here, so I guess I wasted my trip coming here. Goodday.
Julia was about to leave, until Skip stopped her.
Skip: Hold it right there!
Julia turned around and saw Skip in a flaming aura with flames in his eyes.
Skip: You think you can just enter here, try to take Ryuga, insult this School, and get away with it?! And I haven't forgotten how you humiliated Zuzu back then!
Manya: That girl humiliated Zuzu?
Mimi: I wonder what happened that made those 2 Duel?
Skip then took out his Duel Disk and faced Julia.
Skip: Julia Krystal! I challenge you to a Duel!
Yuho: That man can Duel? Now I'm interested.
Julia was surprised that Skip was challenging her to a Duel. She let out a frustrated sight after that.
Julia: Fine! Although this may be a waste of time anyway.
She took out her Duel Disk, ready to face the Father of the girl she defeated.
Oragonking: Unfortunately, we wouldn't be seeing this Duel.
The audience became sad hearing that.
-Paradise Beach-
Ryuga: Okay, fresh watermelons are more delicious than I expected!
Sora: Sure thing! Not as good as candy, but it's still sweet and juicy!
Frederick: Ya!
The Students of You Show were taking a break from the water as they were all enjoying a piece of a watermelon… except Yuya, who was grumbling while eating with a large bump on his head.
Romin: What happened to him?
Zuzu: Come on, Yuya, how long are you gonna keep making that face? I said I was sorry for hitting you.
Turns out, the kids played a game where they blindfolded Yuya and Zuzu while they were holding a bat. In front of them was a watermelon, and the kids had to guide them by telling them where they needed to go so they could smash that watermelon open. However, Zuzu ended up hitting something else than the watermelon.
Everyone winced at that.
Yuya: I still can't believe this happened again!
Yuhi: Wait, he's been hit in the head before?
Ryuga stopped eating when he heard what Yuya said.
Ryuga: Wait… You've been hit in the head before?
Yuhi gave an annoyed look.
Yuhi: That's what I said!
Yuya: Yeah… Gong took part in the game… You can already guess what happened next.
Yuya remembered how he and Gong played the game of smashing the watermelon, but got hit instead.
Everyone winced again, not wishing to be in the sames shoes as Yuya.
Ryuga tried not to laugh and shook his head instead.
Ryuga: Man, I haven't this much fun back home. Usually it was just me and my Grampa.
Hearing that, everyone stopped eating as they turned to Ryuga with curious looks.
Manabu: Looks like everyone will now learn his story.
Zuzu: Hold on, Ryuga, don't you have any friends back at home?
Nyandestar: He doesn't have friends?
The others began wondering why.
Realizing what he said out loud, Ryuga contemplated if he should tell them his story or not, until Bahamut pulled him in the mindscape to speak with him.
Bahamut: You should tell them, Ryuga.
Ryuga: Are you sure?
The Platinum Dragon nodded at him.
Bahamut: They will understand, especially Yuya.
With that, Ryuga was back in the real world and decided to tell his new friends his story.
Ryuga: Okay… first thing first, I'm an orphan.
Yuya: You're an orphan?!
This shocked everyone around him, except Frederick who was confused.
Frederick: What's an orphan?
Luke: Yeah! What's an orphan?
Gavin and Romin groaned at this except Yuga.
Tate: It's someone who lost his parents!
Tate was a little frustrated at Frederick being clueless.
Halley: That's so sad.
Zuzu: What happened to them?
Ryuga: I don't know. The one who took me in, Grandpa Basara, found me one day. He took me in. Life was great growing up with him, although there were also downsides as well.
Everyone was quiet as Ryuga continued his story.
Ryuga: When I was 8, I kinda accidentally wandered off into the forest and got lost.
-Flashback-
A 8 year old Ryuga was sitting on a tree hugging his legs. He'd tried to find his way back without success and got tired so he started to rest.
Ryuga: However, during that moment, something or someone approached me.
As Ryuga sat there, something glowing approached him. Noticing the glow, Ryuga looked up and was surprised at what he saw.
It was a small serpentine green Dragon with no arms or legs, just dark green wings, a Mouse-like head with lime green ears and nose, along with round and curious red eyes.
Romin: What… is that?
Luke: No way… could it really be?
Gavin: I think it is…
Yuga looked at the small Dragon in awe.
Ryuga: Huh? Who are you?
The mysterious creature chirped back as it flew away, only to turn around and motioned him to follow it.
Ryuga: You want me to follow you?
The creature nodded at him, so Ryuga began to follow it.
Ryuga: I don't know where it would lead me, but after a while of walking I found myself outside the forest.
As Ryuga followed the creature for a while, he now finds himself outside the forest at last.
Ryuga: I'm outside? Hey, than…
Ryuga turned around to thank the creature, only to see that it was gone now.
Mimi: It's gone…
-End of Flashback-
Ryuga: I then remembered the stories Grandpa told me about… About the origin of Duel Monsters. However, when I told the kids about it, they didn't believe me and laughed at me. It bothered me, but after a while, I let it go. But the kids kept their distance from me ever since.
The kids were silent at this. Some were silent at this, while others were confused at his story. It was there Yuya spoke first.
Yuya: Say, Ryuga? What do you mean by the origin of Duel Monsters?
The audience wondered as well.
Yuo: I wonder if this could have something to do with his Dragons?
Ryuga looked at everybody's confused looks until a realization came to him.
Ryuga: Oh! That's right! The entire world of course doesn't know about Duel Monsters Origin! Hang on… I brought my picture book so I can show you guys what I'm talking about.
Ryuga began searching in his bag that he brought with to the beach.
Ryuga: You see, my Grampa once worked for the Leo Corporation.
Luke: He worked for Leo?!
Now this surprised everyone.
Yuya: You're Grampa once worked with them?!
Ryuga: Yeah. But before the Corporation, he worked at Industrial Illusions.
Now this surprised Tate a lot.
Tate: No way! That Company created Duel Monsters!
Asana: So, the Leo Corporation was not the ones who created Duel Monsters then.
That caught everyone's attention.
Haley: Whoa! Really?
Tate: Yeah! Industrial Illusions and the Leo Corporation began working together some time ago.
Zuzu: And Ryuga's Grampa must have started working there after that.
Ryuga nodded at her as he continued looking in his picture book.
Ryuga: Yeah. But before that, and that's where I'm heading at, is that my Grandpa was once an Archaeologist and Explorer. Ah! Here it is!
Yuhi: He's both an Archaeologist and an Explorer?!
Yuamu: Ryuga's Grandpa must be a really hard worker.
Ryuga sat back and showed a photo of his Grampa who's not much old in it. He was in his old archaeologist uniform, and was posing for a picture along with two other people at his side, one of them is American.
Yuya: That's your Grampa?
Zuzu: It's so cool that he's an Explorer.
Ryuga: Thanks, but this isn't what I wanted to show you. Look behind them.
The others looked closely and saw behind them slates that were grafted to the wall, on it showed figures of creatures in it.
Tate looked at it closely until he recognized what those creatures were.
Tate: No way! That's… Monster Egg! Stone Armadiller! And Vorse Raider! These are all old Duel Monsters!
Frederick: ¡Huh?!
The others were surprised to see these ancient slates that had Duel Monsters in it.
Everyone was surprised at the discovery.
Zuzu: They're Duel Monsters?! But how is that possible?!
Ryuga: Well, according to Grampa, and from what they were able to decipher the ancient hieroglyphics, long ago in Egypt, people called forth Monsters and wielded powerful magic, where they participated in battles, not for fun or money, but for power. The one thing that my Grandpa and his friends kept finding is the word "Duel".
Yuga: No way… they Dueled even in Ancient Egypt?!
Yuga said with wonder in his eyes.
This intrigued everyone.
Yuya: Duel…
Ryuga: Eventually, these Shadow Games nearly ended up destroying the entire world, at least that's what the hieroglyphics said. This caught the attention of Industrial Illusions, and after that you can guess what happened.
Ryuga closed his picture book.
Ryuga: They created cards inspired by these mystical battles, and it truly changed the world. It connected everyone instead of causing tragedy like in the ancient times, and that's how Duel Monsters was born.
Everyone was suddenly silent at hearing the origin of Duel Monsters.
Sora: Wow…
Yuya: I never knew our cards had such history…
Romin: Say, how did our Duel Monsters was created?
Romin turned to the Goha siblings, who are unsure how to respond to that.
Zuzu: Hold on… how come we never heard of this?
Ryuga tried to recall what his Grandpa told him.
Ryuga: According to Grampa, his American friend presented it to his colleges, but they ridiculed his theories and dismissed them as just fantasy.
The others were shocked to hear that.
Zuzu: That's awful!
Haley: Those guys are just big jerks!
Ryuga: Yeah… my thoughts exactly…
The others agreed with Ryuga as well, as they believe him because of his Dragons.
Ryuga gave a deadpanned look as he imagined the arrogant faces of those people.
Ryuga: Anyway, these findings were never presented to the public, and the only ones who know about this are the Archaeologist, Industrial Illusions, and probably the Leo Corporation as well.
Ryuga put his book back in his bag as the others looked at him.
Zuzu: And you believed these stories, because of what you encountered in the forest?
Ryuga: Yeah…
Yuya: And the creature in the forest? Did you ever find it again?
Ryuga was silent as he's trying to find a way to respond.
Ryuga: No. I've never even been able to figure out what I saw that day.
Yuga: That's too bad.
He then quickly turned back towards them.
Ryuga: And it was daytime. If it was nighttime, then I would have truly been seeing things!
Tate put a finger on his chin.
Tate: Yeah. That's true.
Ryuga then stood back up.
Ryuga: Anyway, that's enough about me. I asked Yuya's Mom to buy some ribs so I can Barbecue them.
This made everyone get up.
Tate: You can Barbecue?
Ryuga: Oh yeah, Grandpa taught me quite a lot of things.
Zuzu: Well I'm in. Show us how you Barbecue, Ryuga!
Frederick: Yeah! I wanna see them so I can eat them!
Everyone started laughing at Frederick as they followed Ryuga, but Yuya had a pensive look as he stared at Ryuga.
Luke: All this Barbecue is making me hungry!
Oragonking: I promise that I bring them once we go to the beach.
Luke: Alright!
-You Show School, Paradise City-
After having their fill of Ryuga's Barbeque, the Students of You Show returned back to School. Yuya, Ryuga, and Sora were heading home while Zuzu stayed at School with the kids.
Yuya: We're heading back, Zuzu. Sure you don't need any help?
Zuzu: Don't worry. I'll wait for the Parents to come pick their kids, and to make sure Dad didn't make up a mess while we're away.
Ryuga: Well, see you tomorrow, Zuzu!
With that, Ryuga, Yuya, and Sora went to their respective homes while Zuzu entered the School with Tate, Haley, and Frederick.
-Lounge Room, You Show Duel School, Paradise City-
Zuzu and the kids entered the Lounge Room as Zuzu looked for her Dad.
Zuzu: I wonder how Dad is doing… Huh?!
Zuzu and the kids stopped in shock when they saw Skip beat up and sprawled face first on the floor.
Zuzu: Dad!
Everyone went to check on Skips as they turned him around.
Tate: What happened?!
Zuzu: Dad! Are you okay?!
Hearing his daughter's voice, Skip opened his eyes and looked at her.
Skip: Zuzu…
Zuzu: What happened, Dad?
Skip: Sorry… Zuzu… I wasn't able to defend… your honor… Urk.
Skip fell 'unconscious' as the spotlight shone on him. Everyone sweatdropped at this… except Zuzu as her eyes were covered in shadow… before hitting Skip with her fan.
Zuzu: STOP BEING DRAMATIC!
Skip: AAAAAHH! COME ON, ZUZU! I'M BEAT UP ALREADY! YOU DON'T HAVE TO GIVE ME MORE!
Zuzu: WELL I DON'T HAVE TO IF YOU WEREN'T PLAYING AROUND!
All the kids stepped back with nervous smiles as they watched another routine of Zuzu and Skip's family dynamics.
-Paradise City-
As Yuya and Ryuga were heading home, the Entertainment Duelist decided to have a conversation with Ryuga.
Yuya: Hey, Ryuga? Can I tell you something?
Ryuga: Yes, what is it?
Yuya took a little breath before saying what's in his mind.
Yuya: I wanted to say… that I believe in your story about Duel Monsters.
Ryuga was surprised as he didn't expect to hear that. The same goes for the Dragons as they materialized behind him.
Yuya: Every time I Duel, I always felt a connection with my Monsters, but most especially Odd-Eyes. Hearing about the Origin of Duel Monsters made me understand that there really is more to the game than I thought. Just knowing it makes me glad!
Ryuga was surprised before becoming happy and grateful at Yuya believing him.
Ryuga: Thanks, Yuya.
The Dragons were also happy that Yuya believes in Ryuga's tale.
Yuya: Well, better head home and not keep Mom waiting!
Ryuga: You go on ahead. I want to take a walk to the Park first.
Yuya: Okay, but don't be late! Otherwise I'll have to eat your share if you don't come!
Ryuga: Hey! Leave my Lunch out of this!
However, Yuya already left laughing, while Ryuga let out an amusing smile and so did his Dragons.
Unknown to him, Julia was passing by. The girl's hair was disheveled as if she got through an obstacle course. The girl was recalling her Duel with Skip.
Julia: I can't believe that guy almost beat me! If he wasn't teaching at that fifth-rate School he'll probably become a Pro… Huh?
Julia saw Ryuga over the other side of the street, and she recognized the path he was taking was to the Park.
Julia: There he is!
Julia quickly picked up her Duel Disk and started calling to her friends. Kit's voice came out of the Duel Disk.
Kit: Hey, Julia.
Julia: Kit, bring Dipper with you and come to the Park! I found our target!
-Park, Paradise City-
At the Park, where he encountered the three kids again and met Zuzu, Ryuga was sitting on a bench with his Dragons keeping him company.
Bahamut: You did fib only once in your story, Ryuga.
Ryuga: Huh?
Ryuga looked at Bahamut who was sitting beside him with his arms crossed.
Bahamut: About finding the Spirit that brought you to safety.
Ryuga: Well, I couldn't just tell the entire story and expect them to believe it.
Ryuga began recalling that moment.
-Flashback-
Ryuga was currently in bed, not knowing he was about to have a familiar visitor that night.
The boy was currently about to fall asleep, until he noticed a shadow above him. He opened his eyes and saw the same Spirit that helped him get out of the forest as it floated above him near his head.
Ryuga: (Gasp)...! It's you!
Ryuga sat up as he looked at the Spirit.
Ryuga: You're… Fairy Dragon, right?
Fairy Dragon: (Chirp)...
The Spirit known as Fairy Dragon nodded at him to confirm his guess.
?: Indeed she is.
Ryuga jumped a little at hearing the femenine voice. Appearing before him was a white Dragon with Blue eyes, which Ryuga quickly recognized as he looked at her in awe.
Ryuga: The Blue-Eyes White Dragon…
Blue-Eyes let out a femenine chuckle at that.
Blue-Eyes: Just call me Blue-Eyes, sweetie.
Ryuga stood on his knees as he stretched out a hand to her. Blue-Eyes looked at him softly before pressing her snout on his little hand. Ryuga was in awe as he felt the warm scales in his touch before pulling back.
Ryuga: You are real!
Blue-Eyes: Of course. We all are.
With these words, multiple Spirits appeared in his room, mainly Dragons. Like Golem Dragon, Masked Dragon, Luster Dragon, Meteor Dragon, Prime Material Dragon, and more.
Ryuga looked in awe at all the Dragons in his room.
-End of Flashback-
Ryuga: And that's how I met all of you guys later. Red-Eyes. Bahamut. Even you, White Night.
White Night was taken aback at Ryuga's words. Suddenly, Fairy Dragon appeared around Ryuga's shoulders.
Ryuga: Yeah… You too, Fairy.
Ryuga caressed the small Dragon's while she happily snuggled his cheek. He then got up and stretched himself.
Ryuga: Alright, time to head home, before Yuya eats my Lunch.
But just as he was about to head back home, a voice suddenly stopped him.
Male voice: Hold it back there!
Ryuga turned around and saw that the voice came from Dipper, who confronted him with Julia and Kit.
Kit: You're Ryuga Shirogane, right? We've been looking all over for you.
Ryuga recognized these guys, as he heard of them from Yuya and Zuzu.
Ryuga: I've heard of you guys. Dipper Orion. Kit Blade. And Julia Krystal.
Dipper: So you already heard of us? That's great! We don't have to bother with introductions so we can go to the point now!
Ryuga: And that is…?
Julia gave a smile at him.
Julia: We have a proposal for you, Ryuga Shirogane.
Okay, this chapter doesn't have any Duels in it, but episodes in the don't have it either.
