Amy was in the middle of working on her new experiment. Having a monkey smoke a cigarette so she can study why they're so addictive to most people. While Amy was working in her lab, she started to think about what happened a few weeks ago. Once again Amy was invited to join with Bernadette and Penny, and the rest of the gang for dinner at Sheldon and Leonard's for dinner. It was Chinese food night. Everything seemed fine or at least Amy thought eveything was fine. But when Bernadette invited everyone to come over for dinner one night. Sheldon said that he couldn't come over because he was working on something like a secret project. Of course everyone including Amy thought it was just a lame excuse he's using to not to come over to Howard and Bernadette's for dinner.
Every time Amy tried to talk to Sheldon to get to know him better, Sheldon would end up leaving the room or changing the subject altogether. Most times, whenever Amy would try to join Sheldon and the guys for lunch in the cafeteria, Sheldon would quickly get up and leave before she had the chance to sit down. Amy couldn't understand why. She tried to ask Leonard why his roommate had been acting so weird. But all Leonard told her was that he had no idea what was going on with Sheldon and that he was always weird. Which meant Leonard did know, and he wasn't saying anything.
Amy tried asking Howard, but he was no help. Of course, Amy couldn't ask Raj anything, since he can't talk to women without alcohol. Amy finds it interesting and hopes to study his brain someday to find out why. Only if Raj would let her, of course.
Hearing a knock at her door, Amy stepped away from her computer and walked over to answer it. When she opened the door, Amy sighed slightly as she noticed Barry Kripke standing outside. Amy didn't know much about him, but from what she could tell, he seemed kinda creepy and could make her feel uncomfortable.
" What can I do for you, Kripke?" Amy asked in the nicest way she could, even though she's tempted to slam the door in his face again.
" I was wondering if I could interest you in joining me for dinner tomorrow night?" Barry asked, hoping that Amy would say yes this time.
Amy rolled her eyes as she sighed exasperatedly." You know every time you ask me that question, I'm always going to say no. So why do you keep trying?" She asked, turning away from the door and returning to her work.
"Because I'm always hoping that you would say yes this time. So would you go to dinner with me tomorrow night?" Barry asked again.
Amy snorts little shaking her head." No, now would you please leave. So I can get back to work." She answered as she a lot to do and she really doesn't want to waste anymore time talking to Barry Kripke.
Barry threw his hands up as he backed out of her lab. "Alright, I get it. You're not interested in going out with me. Does it have anything to do with Sheldon Cooper?" He asked suspiciously.
Amy looked up from her computer, confused. "What does Dr. Cooper have to do with anything?" she asked, not understanding why Barry brought up Sheldon Cooper.
"It's probably nothing, but I heard there's a rumor going around," Barry replied, shrugging his shoulders.
" What rumors?" Amy asked, curiosity getting the better of her as she hadn't heard any rumors floating around Caltech.
" There's a rumor going around that Dr. Cooper likes you. But he's too stubborn to tell you." Barry answered, then turned around and walked out of Amy's lab, closing the door behind him. He left Amy very shocked.
Sheldon Cooper, likes me? Amy thought to herself, as she wasn't expecting that. She never really thought Sheldon would actually like her or be interested in her like that. It never really crossed her mind. This news was huge, and she had to share it with Penny and Bernadette.
Amy quickly texted Penny and Bernadette, asking if they could all meet up later tonight for a few drinks. She definitely needs to talk to them about it, and maybe they can give her some advice.
While Amy was sitting at Penny's apartment with Penny and Bernadette, she started to think about what Kripke had told her that morning. She wanted to meet up with them tonight. Setting her glass down on the coffee table, Amy exhaled deeply.
"There's a rumor going around at Caltech," Amy suddenly blurted out.
"Seriously? What kind of rumor is this?" Penny asked with curiosity.
" Yeah, what kind of rumor? Is it juicy?" Bernadette asked, really wanting to know.
Amy shrugs her shoulders. "I don't know if I would actually call it juicy. Since the rumor going around is about me and Sheldon." She said nervously.
Penny suddenly raised her brows as she couldn't believe what Amy just said." The rumor is about you and Sheldon?" She asked, unsure if she should actually believe it or not.
" So, what's the rumor?" Bernadette asked, wanting to know.
Amy gulped the wine in one swallow and exhaled deeply." There's a rumor going around that Sheldon likes me. Which can't be true, right? I mean, according to you guys and Howard, Sheldon doesn't date, and he's never had a girlfriend. From what Leonard told me, the reason Sheldon doesn't date is because his work is too important."
When Amy noticed the way Penny and Bernadette were looking at each other, she could tell something was up. Amy sighed deeply as she set her glass down."What's going on?" she asked, starting to worry a little.
Penny looked at Amy as she also set her glass down and then folded her hands together in her lap. "Sweetie, I'm afraid the rumors are true. Sheldon likes you." She said honestly.
"What?" Amy asked, stunned and unable to say anything.
" Yeah." Bernadette said as she nods her head a little.
AN: Short chapter. But I will make up for it in the next chapter. Hopefully I still got readers for this story. Also I will try my hardest not to take forever to update. Happy reading everyone and as always leave reviews.
