First, I will say this:
I am still not doing well in terms of finding a job. And that even made me unable to focus on my writing. On one hand, I decided to write in small chunks and call it a day then rinse and repeat. However, I notice that the quality and consistency wasn't up to my preference. So I will apologize if there are certain things not to your liking or some inconsistencies present.
Secondly:
Most side content will be cut to save me the agony. You may understand it when you notice the sudden shift in tone here. (More in the final foot note at the end of the fiction)
Thirdly:
I apologize and hope you may all still enjoy my fiction and power fantasy.
Other than that, thank you all for your continued support. And don't worry, I will still continue to upload. Only at a much slower rate this time...
A2 C4: Food for thoughts
Yuuya's Point of View
Tomorrow morning will be the beginning of my sponsor duels. I know that I've lost a lot in my duels and that had affected my average win rates. Sensei told me not to rush since I had a full week before the Championship start. If I can get all 6 of my wins, then I would be ready on the sixth day or earlier.
I had arranged my deck to balance out what I needed. Overall, I am very satisfied with the results.
Sensei had taught me the importance of deck balancing and how having multiple cards can be helpful with consistency. Before, I would run a deck of only a single copy of each card. Eventually, I learnt of how useful having multiple copies would help me.
Kyou-sensei…
Where do I start with that guy?
How about a year ago when Hiiragi-sensei introduced us to him. He looked OK if you asked me. Nothing special. Then when we learn more about and from him, the more we can see how small our worlds are. While Hiiragi-sensei is capable of teaching the basics and Dueltaining, Kyou-sensei taught us the advanced skills and knowledge that Hiiragi-sensei could not teach. In fact, both of our sensei would attend each other's classes once in a while to learn from each other. It was also then Hiiragi-sensei starts using Xyz-summoning for his coaching.
We even tried using a few cards that combos off of our own decks. Yuzu started adding some Ritual supports for her deck, specifically the Light fairy combination. Futoshi easily added some larger dinosaurs to his deck since to him, dinosaurs are cool. Ayu, on the other hand, was initially afraid of adding some new cards to her deck. The reason being, they looked scary. But after a Duel activity, she starts seeing them in a different light.
Speaking of activity, we've had quite a few over the time under his tutelage. I still remember our first activity involves using Action duel to roleplay as pirates. There were even memorable ones like becoming excavators, digging up fossils and gems, becoming fire fighters, putting out fires and then one time, surfing on a board all over a futuristic large city on a purple and sometimes green river like stream all over the city airspace.
Those were fun. In fact, sometimes I even got distracted from all of those activities that I even forget that we were dueling.
"All right, this is perfect!" I said as I confirmed my final deck build. I will use this deck to win my 6 games and take my first step to become a pro.
My deck contains some of the new cards sensei gave us. Especially, it had something to do with the lesson he just taught us. Yes, I can see it.
Shine boldly so that all may find you when night falls!
…
Those were the summoning chants sensei used to summon his monsters. It was like him telling not just his monsters, but also his opponent to do their all. Then I recalled the duel he had with Akaba Reiji.
For the first time, I've learnt about what our sensei was capable of. All those high levelled monsters in a single turn. It was amazing! But what was even more amazing was how his opponent, Akaba Reiji, was able to keep up with him at ease. It pains me to say this, but… the power gap between me and sensei suddenly grew ten times further. Maybe 100 times.
"Yuuya! Are you still up?" I heard my mother called, breaking my line of thought.
I got up to my feet and reached for the door.
"What is it mom?" I opened the door and enter her room. I could see that the cupboard door is opened and on the bed is a pile of clothing stacking up on each other.
"I will be heading out early in the morning, so I'll prepare your breakfast before you leave for your duel, alright?" She said while a set of fancy clothing joined the pile of clothes.
That was strange, my mom doesn't really go out all that often.
"Sure," was all I answered before my curiosity got the better of me. "What are you doing?"
"Oh this?" She closed the cupboard door and I could see her holding a rather fancy gown to her body, "What do you think Yuuya? Does this look great on me?"
That was a strange thing to ask.
"Uh… yeah I guess." I answered.
Mom then gave the gown a once over before tossing it to the pile saying, "Too fancy." She rummaged again and brought out a different set. "What about this one?"
This one had a cardigan and a pencil skirt combination.
"Great?"
Again, another once over and tossing it to the pile saying "Too plain."
"Mom, what is going on? What's with all the clothes?"
She paused and then had a rather strange smile to her face. "Oh, someone asked me out on a date!"
"Oh, ok." I responded, "Good luck on your date then mom."
"Thank you, Yuuya!"
I closed the door to let my mom enjoy her time. I mean my mom is having a date tomorrow so I guess I shouldn't get in… the…
…
I swung the door wide open again.
"DATE! WITH WHO?" Normally, I wouldn't freak out over these things. But with dad not being around the house, those were the words I did not expect her to say. Suddenly, the thought of calling another man my father just fills me with dread.
"With Yuuki-kun of course!"
…
Yuuki-kun… there is only one person I know who has that name… Kyou Yuuki, my sensei. The guy I just complimented… he just invited my mom over to a date…
…
I think I'll just go to bed early.
Masumi's Point of View
I heard him shamelessly invite a woman on a date as I sat on the couch, drinking the juice he offered and relaxed. At this point, I am just done with his antics and let things be as it is. If Marco-sensei had not told me about him, I would have written this guy off as some imbecile.
Even more so if I hadn't decided to take on his offer to be trained under him.
I must bitterly admit that he is by leaps and bounds stronger than anyone else I know and because of that I still need to put up with him… all for the sake of overcoming that girl who defeated me… and for Marco-sensei.
From what his conversation, he had reserved a high-class restaurant across the city. Not just any high-class restaurant but one that happens to be a duel school. The Duel School name is called Cuisine Duel School, which is located next to said restaurant called La Cuisine De L'enfer, or Hell's Kitchen. The reason I know about the place is because I have dined in the place once and the food they served was as exquisite as it was expensive. It was also due to the price of the food, I've only eaten there once and only once. One time when my papa had made a huge profit from selling a particular gem, he treated the family to dine at the restaurant. It was the best thing that happened to me next to me being taught by Marco-sensei.
He closed his D-Disk and turned to me.
"Alright girl, you are also coming with me to that date."
I did a spit take on what he said, especially with the knowledge that I happened to be a third wheel. I want to argue. But the prospect of being able to dine in the restaurant again stopped me.
And so here we are, at the venue and memories of the time I came here came flooding back to me. The distinctive smell of the restaurant, the food, the environment, everything was just as memorable.
My current mentor is dressed in his usual clothes along with a hexagonal patterned coat while I only combed my hair. The last time I came here, I was told to dressed formally especially when this restaurant has a strict dress code. Kyou Yuuki told me that I am fine the way I am which concerns me.
We were there early and we sat at a nearby bench close by to wait for Kyou Yuuki's date… while we waited, we had a little chat and he was the one who started the conversation.
"Girl, you joined the school right after I left. Mind telling me more about how things are getting along in Leo Duel School?" he inquired.
I now noticed how he's been calling me girl all this time.
"Will you stop calling me girl. My name is-"
"Koutsu Masumi." Once more he interjected. "I know your name girl. I choose not to use it. You have to earn my favour first if you want me to call you by your name."
Is this arrogance?
"So far, only a few had earned that privilege. Sakaki Yuuya and Akaba Reiji. These two had impressed me through their duel and earned it. The others haven't really impressed me yet… but I consider them important enough for me to call them by their name."
When he said that, I realized and recalled the subtle name calling when he called Akaba Reiji boy at first. Then he starts calling him by his name.
"We're getting off topic. How's the school doing right now?" he asked.
For one… I started with my class and the students.
"Wait that kid from Ryouzanpaku was able to be transferred? At least the higher ups did things right this time." He muttered the last part but I could hear him. "Isao may seem like your typical battle maniac, but no thanks to the circumstances, he turned out this way."
Kachidoki Isao, that was the classmate who told me about his fears of him. Of the Machine Emperor who came to his old school and destroyed it. Not literally but structurally. According to Yuuki, that boy's name does not fit into Ryouzanpaku and he even pull ranks with the higher ups to have him enrolled in the school. He did not go any further beyond that.
Next, I told him about how Marco-sensei taught the class.
"Pfft, playboy." Was all Kyou Yuuki commented before adding, "Funny you say how he's good at teaching." He chuckled. "When I first began, he was a bit of a nervous wreck in his class."
"Wait what?"
"Oh, it's an embarrassing story for the guy. When he's out and about, he gets all fancy and glamourous. I remember that time when I designed the Gem-Knights deck and he was fancier than he used to be."
Marco-sensei was like that? I'd never know.
"Also fun fact, did you know that he became the way he is today all because I brought him to a cabaret club?"
If I was drinking something, I would be doing a spit take at this revelation. It can't be right? Him? At a cabaret club?
"Unbelievable right? But it did. I dragged him there to kill off his nervousness. A few visits there and here we are. And now that I think about it." His face got closer to me and I backed away a little. He was analyzing my face. "Huh, I see now. You looked a little like that girl he always called. Krystal, I think she called herself… fitting."
He pulled away and starts humming with amusement. According to him, it was a tune that was played at the cabaret club at the time and he even shared how Marco-sensei slowly changes over time.
I had much to think about this but the more I listened, the more intrigued I get. I wanted to know more… but that had to stop because someone called out and interrupted our time.
"Yuuki-kun~" I heard a woman's call. I do not really recognize the woman… rather, I recognize the one accompanying her. It was Sakaki Yuuya… if that is Yuuya… then the person next to him, dressed in a beautiful yellow dress that compliments her body and her hair. She also have a black fur shawl around her shoulders, completed with some bracelets and a pair of high heels to give her a more sophisticated high class lady feeling.
I didn't know that Sakaki Yuuya had an elder sister.
"Sorry we are late, did we keep you waiting?" she asked.
"No, not at all, and I must say Sakaki-san, you look ravishing today, a shame that someone else beat me to you." Flattered my current mentor. I really wanted to barf because somehow it reminded me of my parents flirting with each other. I looked at Sakaki Yuuya and he too had the same expression as I did.
Our gaze met and rather than an over reactive response, he only stared. For once, our thoughts are aligned with each other, even if we are from a separate school. I now share the same mentor as Yuuya did and I now understand his experience learning and dealing with Kyou Yuuki. I am also a third wheel in this date, something that Yuuya also felt.
He roped you in too, huh? Good luck… was what I got from him.
Thank you. You must have had it rough too. You have my condolence. Was my response to him.
Neither the two of us spoke, but on a spiritual level, we connected and just tuned out the adults.
Your sister is pretty. I told him spiritually.
That's my mother…
Wait what? The connection broke as I turned to the adults, namely my mentor and Sakaki Yuuya's mother who is glowing with joy throughout the conversation.
Playboy… was all I can identify my mentor now. I continued watching the two adults flatter each other and fortunately, they stopped thanks to Yuuya's stomach. I cannot imagine the number of times that idiot Xyz Ace, Hokuto, interrupted the mood with his stomach. Ironically, the very same interruption was what saved me from this agony.
We signed in to the restaurant and when the receptionist at the front desk.
"Welcome to La Cuisine De L'enfer, have you made a reservation?" said the person behind the front desk. I recognize the person well enough since he was the first person I see when I came here.
"Yes, I have an invitation… from 6 years ago." Said Kyou Yuuki, which is an odd thing to say.
The restaurant is still popular until this day and due to it popularity, most people know about its history at least the gist of it. The basic gist was that the restaurant was not doing very well at first but 5 years ago, it got a rebranding, restaffing along with its menu being changed. It through these changes, it reopened into what it is today.
"Uh… I am sorry sir but we don't do that kind of service." The receptionist is clearly confused. I don't blame him.
Kyou Yuuki said nothing more and pulled out his Disk. He dialed a number and once he did, a loud telephone ring echoed from within the restaurant, followed by an almost immediate answer from the other side.
"Yuuki-sama! Oh, my benefactor! It has been too long! Why the sudden call?" the person from the other side of the phone echoed. In fact, the loud speaker allowed everyone in the reception to hear. I did not miss the reaction that the receptionist made when he seem to have recognized the voice.
"Hello Kiri, it has been too long indeed. I am at your restaurant's reception-"
The moment Kyou Yuuki said reception, a figure appeared before us in a flash. I recognized this man as he is the head chef of the restaurant and the principle of the Cuisine Duel School next door. I would know since the unique hook to this restaurant is not only in the exquisite food they serve, it also allows the diner to watch live duels. One time, I watched this same man, Kirigakure dueled a challenger and it was both a feast for the stomach and the eyes.
"Oh my benefactor, it has been too long! Come come, tonight you and your family will dine like royalty!" the head chef spoke with the biggest grin I've ever seen on that man. He was tall with a chef's outfit on him. The difference between him with other chefs is that he had a red cape on over his shoulders along with a gold chef's hat sitting on top his head like a crown.
It is also the first time I feel that Kyou Yuuki may have more influence that I thought.
We were personally led to a special section of the restaurant. I would recognize this immediately due to how much more luxurious everything is compared to the more common ones my last visit was. Essentially, Yuuya and I were completely out of our elements as we clumsily followed the adult's lead.
One thing lead to another, we had a very enjoyable meal. Sakaki Yuuya had a serving of roasted steak. His mother had chicken while I get to have an expensive foie gras. All of which the head chef prepared for us personally. But as we dined, I noticed that Kyou Yuuki's table had nothing on his plate. Even if we are halfway into our meal, he remained motionless as he rests his chin on his left hand. His other was tapping away silently but in a consistent pace.
Then, suddenly, he shifted his pose as he raised his gaze onto the head chef who had been standing by the side the entire time after serving us. It was as if he had been patiently waiting for this very second. In fact, his smile had even turned into a frown. Despite that, I noticed how his eyes was twinkling with… what?
"Chef… I am still hungry." Kyou-sensei began as he stared down at the head chef. In fact, the stare was scary as it had a hint of anger within it. Yet, despite the silent tension before us, I can also see a sense of nostalgia and longingness. The very same longingness and nostalgia that appear on the head chef's eyes.
"What are you hungry for?" asked the head chef. His quieter tone was evident but behind his eyes, it was happiness.
"A cheese burger." No one said anything at the time. I even glanced around and could see Yuuya flipping through the menu to find the burger section. I would know because there is no such thing on the menu. Even the servers who stood around in the background turned to their colleagues in confusion. "A simple cheese burger." Was the line that brought me back to the conversation between these two.
The corner of the chef's lips twitched into a smile before returning to its neutral position. Yet he said nothing.
"How do you make it?"
"Medium." The chef answered instantly.
"What kind of cheese do you use."
"American cheese because it melts without splitting."
"How much will I owe you for that?"
"995 DP."
"Does that comes with fries?"
"Crinkle cut or Julienne?"
It was julienne as I watched my mentor take in the appearance of the dish before him. A double beef patty with double cheese and spring onion burger with a serving of julienne fries to the side. Despite its simplicity, somehow it looked and felt like the most delicious dish. When compared to what we have, the price is like 10 times cheaper, yet the food before him looked, felt and even smelt more delicious that what we all have.
"Here you go. The burger of life." Said the head chef.
"The burger that brought you back to life, eh." The amused tone behind Kyou-sensei's words was evident. But when he said that, the room's attention is now on the burger on Kyou-sensei's plate. "You've grown a lot Kirigakure."
"I have you to thank sensei." He bowed down.
"Now now, please don't bow to me. Instead, just treat us with the best service and we can consider this lifetime debt settled." Said Kyou-sensei nonchalantly.
"Very well then. Then as both head chef of La Cuisine De L'enfer and headmaster of Culinary Duel school, I sincerely hope you enjoy our services. As a refresher, may I host an entertainment duel in your honour?"
"That won't be necessary. Instead…" Kyou-sensei's gaze turned to Sakaki Yuuya, "I would like to have my student here to duel with your best. What was his name again, Youko, what's his name again? That one boy you watched and learn how to make certain recipes"
"Oh, you mean Michii? Is he dueling?"
Who was that?
"Ah yes, Mokota Michio."
I heard of that name before, especially how my mama gush about him and his food. I will admit, thanks to him, I get to have some of the best meals But I could do without all the gushing and admiration my mama kept displaying.
"Say no more, we can arrange for this."
Yuuki's Point of View
It is good to see that the restaurant has been doing well. The chef even copied the burger recipe I made for him. Ah good times. A struggling chef whom rose from the ashes all because of a twist in fate.
Regardless, my existence here had caused a small butterfly effect that managed to fix itself. Namely how instead of Nico smiley sponsoring this duel, it was me calling in the favour for this one. Suffice to say, Yuuya easily won the duel. To be honest, I was hoping to find some changes to the duel. The only difference is how easy Yuuya get the Action Magic cards. Not only that, Michio, his opponent seemed more open to his recipes being changed.
The head chef commented on his behaviour and once again, my burger was the architect that changed his mindset.
He recounted the story on how two similar burgers are prepared. How he copied and perfected by recipe. Michio had chosen the perfected one. However, the chef chose mine instead… even embarked my teachings to him.
We can strive for perfection but will never achieve it.
Come to think of it, the chef was actually similar to the boy way back when. Stubborn and headstrong. Their head is in the right place and all they need is a single push to the right direction.
Regardless, while they are dueling, I dug into my burger and savoring every bite. No point looking into a duel where you know what and how the outcome will be like albeit slightly different. I was hoping to see a certain Burger Ritual deck… guess its not time yet.
When the duel is over, we were free to walk off. For me, I decided to pay the 995DP for the burger. I just felt nostalgic is all.
Youko came here by car and offered to carpool us back home. Our first destination was Masumi's house and along the way, we had small talks, mainly wanting to know more about each other. Honestly, she seemed more out of character now that I notice it. The Masumi I know it loud, very loud and very one track with her obsession. The various shifts in character and personality… it just reminds me of any other girl really. If its something she loves, like say the food she just had, she turned into a pure normal girl. Moe even.
"What are you staring at sensei?" I heard her calling me out. It was a neutral tone, not the loud annoyed tone I usually associate her with.
"At you girl. I didn't know you can make a face like that." I answered honestly.
"What face?"
I cycled through my D-Disk and showed a particular picture I snapped of her while she isn't looking. It was the face of a girl whose cheeks are bulged outwards like a squirrel that had stuffed its cheek pouch. Only instead of a squirrel, it was Masumi who is chewing on the foie gras she had ordered.
"Tte! OI!"
And of course, said squirrel tried to snatch the Disk out of my hand. I simply allow it and she deleted it. But don't worry, I made a copy and had saved it in a separate folder. The fun part is, after dropping her off at her house, which is a large 3 story house, and when the front gate closes behind her, I dropped the bomb.
"I'VE ALREADY SENT A COPY TO HIIRAGI YUZU BY THE WAY!"
And she cursed up a storm. If this was a horror anime, she would have turned into a version of Sada** and starts giving chase on all fours with her hair dragging on the ground. Heck, she even looks the part minus the age.
"That was mean sensei!" Yuuya commented.
"Why are you smiling?" I replied as I caught his face on the side mirror. Hide it he may, but he's just predictable. "In any case Yuuya, that's 1 out of 6 wins for you. Nico Smiley should be ready with the other 5 by now. Got any word from him?"
"Yeah, he sent a message to me earlier about my matches. Says it will start tomorrow."
"Should be a piece of cake to you Yuuya. After all, you are the first person who had managed to reduce my Life Points with me using a personalized deck."
I could see his expression going for a retort before reducing itself into a simple, "Yeah, thanks." Knowing him, I can guess that he is going for the usual dismissive retort. He may have realized something and instead of going for that, he just responded the way he did.
Youko, on the other hand, said nothing at all and just continue driving. She seemed content with listening in on the conversation.
I leaned on my shoulders as I looked out the window watching the buildings pass by as she drove. This sense of peace is quite enjoyable… but it is also-
"Youko-san, stop the car." I said suddenly.
"Huh?" The car came to a halt by the side of the road and I disembarked. "What is it?" she asked and was concerned with the sudden stop.
"I remember that I had an errand I need to run, and this place is close to it." I responded… and lied.
"I see."
"Yes, you can just go ahead and head home. I'll see you again for another date, if you don't mind."
"Oh, Yuuki-kun you sly devil you."
"Ugh…"
I watched and waved the car goodbye as they drove off. Once they turned around a corner, I turned my back and approached my target of interest that made me get off here.
Another Point of View
"I really hate patrols."
The number of times I heard this guy repeat this phase is amounted to 3 digits at this point. Still, he wasn't wrong. I hate this part too but orders were orders. When the professor told us to not engage with any of the locals, we had no choice but to obey. To get ensure that we do not engage with the locals, our disk was also outfitted with a bug that tracks where we are and what we are doing.
This is the second day of our patrol and unfortunate for me, I am stuck to patrol duties with this guy. What was his name again?
"It can't be helped Tanaka." I forgot his name but its something along the lines.
"It's Tanomu! I'm not some generic NPC with a generic name!" my partner retorted. And I have nothing to say to this considering how similar your name is to an NPC.
"Yes yes, Tanomu. I got it. Well, not like we can do anything with how the Professor vehemently ordered us not to do anything." I repeated, "I know, even I want to start our hunting game now but we can't really do anything for now right?"
"Tch. Screw it. Screw the professor! Screw that woman! I say we go have some fun now huh?"
Very tempting. I admit, breaking the rules is much more fun than following them. Besides, we can suffer the consequences later. What is one missing person in this sea of millions huh? I flipped my hood over my head to cover my face. Since I will be having a more important job of infiltrating LDS later, I should be careful not to reveal my identity this quickly.
"Oh, then its agree then!" I nodded, "Man, you're the best patrol partner ever! What's your name again?"
When I was about to say my name, I sense a presence in front of us. Even my partner sensed it and we instantly ready our duel disk.
A man like twice my age walked out from the corner and even had his duel disk drawn. He had some white wing like side hair on both left and right side of his head while the center is all black. Reminds me a little like a zebra. Other things of note were that he wore glass and had on an unbuttoned hexagonal patterned coat with a black shirt.
"Hey~ you two. Since you are so willing… why don't you play with me."
Have a look at this guy. This standard dimension random guy just show up all of a sudden and challenge us to a duel. I look to my partner and he too had the same mindset.
"Well then don't mind if I do. Well, how about it Tanomu? Do you want this duel or shall I do it?" I asked.
"Hell yeah I do."
Our opponent chortled again, "My opponent today seemed a bit ignorant to not know who I am. Not that I mind it after all, Tonight, Yuuki joins the hunt."
That sounded so cringe. And from that, we now know he's called Yuuki. Is he someone famous in Standard Dimension? Pffft, you barely even know how small and insignificant your dimension is compared to the grand scale of things. I wonder what kind of face he will make when we 'card' him.
"DUEL!"
Yuuki - 4000
Tanomu – 4000
"I'm on a very good mood right now, so you can start first!" declared Tanomu. I was not surprised by the declaration. If we go first, we can set up our burn strategy to chip his Life Points down. If this was a battle royale, he wouldn't even get a single turn. And even if we were to go second, we can still easily wipe his board out with our strongest monster.
"My, I rarely get privileges like these. Usually, I would handicap myself to even let my opponent have the chance to chip my life points. Something that your Ancient Gear deck can easily do."
WHAT?
He called out our decks easily without even knowing the first card? Does he know who we are? Who is this guy!
"But its your funeral." He then proceeds to set 5 cards. "I set 5… TRAP cards" and end my turn.
What is he doing! First of all, he looked like he has drawn a bunch of useless cards. Second of all, he calls out his face downs. And finally, what a stupid move! Even if he have a bunch of trap cards, our strongest monster is unaffected by them! What a load of hot air. This duel is disappointingly over.
Yuuki - 4000
Tanomu – 4000 6
"HAH, WHAT A JOKE!" My thoughts exactly as my patrol partner scoffed and drew his next card. He looked at it and grinned. "I summon Ancient Gear Hunting Hound (Level 3/EARTH/Machine/1000/1000)!"
Oh, I know this one. This is over for him.
"When Ancient Gear Hound is summoned, it deals-"
"Activate Trap Card, Infinite Impermanance! I target a face-up monster on my opponent's field and spells and trap cards in the same column of this trap card is negated for the rest of this turn!"
A minor set back really. But… I am now a bit curious of the second effect. To date I have never heard of an effect that says anything about the column.
"Nice job, you negated it. But we're not finished. I activate Polymerization! With this, I fuse my Ancient Gear Hunting Hound with 3 other Ancient Gear monsters in my hand! Mechanized hounds that inherited ancient souls! Merge your ten heads and become chaos and tremendous power! Fusion Summon! Appear! Level 10! Chaos Ancient Gear Giant (Level 10/DARK/Machine/Fusion/4500/3000)!"
"Oi oi, that would just expose us would it?" I commented as a giant of a monster, much taller than the skyscrapers appear. With how big the monster is, it would mean that our invasion would start now. Even better in fact. With no monsters on his field and with our golem having immunity to spells and trap, he is toast.
"BATTLE! Chaos Ancient Gear Giant! Attack him directly!"
"Trap card activate-"
Yeah, I expected as much. Must be a panic activation at this point. I then received a phone call. Must be our superiors calling us about why we are dueling now.
"Hello?" I answered.
"McField? Right, we are starting our meeting soon, so all patrols are to report in in 30 minutes." Said our professor on the other end of the phone call and that's all she said before closing.
I recognize the voice anywhere since she is the only female professor on our sortie. Although, it is strange that Midori-sensei would be this… indifferent with all that is going on. Like, we are dueling now, so why aren't they reprimanding us. Even more so when we summoned our ace.
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!"
I turned quickly turned back as I recognized who was shouting. It wasn't our opponent but instead Tanomu. I checked the field and notice that giant was missing. While there are 3 more face down trap cards on my opponent's field. Wait, I was sure he used a trap card, he declared them when he sets them. Even before I answer the phone, I heard it right!
"Your giant may be impressive… but I have seen better!" our opponent remarked. "My first impression of the Fusion Dimension… disappointment. Just like the rest."
That ticked me off! But that also means that he does know who we are. Now I am more intrigued about this guy and curious about what had happened. Sadly, I do not have time as he activated his next trap card.
"I activate my next trap card, Banquet of Millions. I banish as many cards in my Extra Deck face-down and my opponent banished the same number face-up. Since you only have 14 Fusion monsters left in your extra deck, I will banish that amount." They did exactly that. "This only last until the end of this turn. However, there will not be a next turn. Because I now activate my next trap card, D.D. Dynamite! With this… I inflict 300 damage for each card my opponent had banished."
Wait, that's…
"Right now you have 14 cards that were banished. 14 multiplied by 300 means 4200 damage!"
A one turn kill with only trap cards!
The dynamite appeared on my partner and it sent him flying behind me.
Yuuki – 4000 WIN
Tanomu – 0
I do not dare check on my partner's condition as I am now fully cautious of… the monster before. Because now that I think about it, he could have won from the very beginning with only 2 cards and yet…
"My, I rarely get privileges like these. Usually, I would handicap myself to even let my opponent have the chance to chip my life points-"
I recalled the very same words he said from the beginning and now I can see that he was not boasting. If that is what he can do with trap cards, I shudder to think what he can do with monsters.
"Now then, greetings aside. As a resident of this Standard Dimension, I greet you Fusion Invaders warmly with open jaws."
Also he's rather dramatic but that's not the point.
"Now then," he turned his gaze to me and I had to suppress a shudder. "What about you, invader? Care to… entertain me like the magician you are?"
At this point I can only swallow the saliva that had piled up in my mouth. He knows who I am! There is only one choice I had here. Retreating. But before I can do anything.
"Don't worry, I'm fully entertained for today as it is, so I will let you run with your friend in tow. BUT, in return for letting you go scot-free, you will be my messenger."
I had no choice but sure. Whatever errand he wants me to do, I might as well do it.
"Tell your superiors that, I am fully aware of who my invaders are and where your forward bases are located." That was not reassuring. "But worry not, I won't do anything." Uh… "My only condition is… you may only launch your full scale invasion… during the FINAL round of the Maiami Championship."
I know that championship since I am one of the participants there.
"The final round will be a battle royale throughout Maiami City. Only during that event may I allow you all to do as you please. Minimalizing casualties and all. If you all strike before that day, I will singlehandedly destroy all of your bases. If you miss that opportunity and are still here, I will still destroy your bases."
…
Ok, I know he is strong in a single duel, but against the entire army?
…
Something tells me he can.
"Then can I at least get to know who are you?" I asked.
"Ah yes, how rude of me… Heed my word. I am…"
I recognized that name. In fact, it was even in the briefing before we enter this dimension!
Kyou Yuuki. The Machine Emperor. And I have never known defeat.
Suffice to say, the meeting that I attend later did not bode well at all.
Author's note:
As you can all see, the final portion is a bit of a rush but it does convey my message. Other than that, allow me to describe my cut content here:
I had written the first half way before the sudden change in my situation. So I thought, since I have written them, it would have been a shame to delete and rewrite them so, I kept them there. Originally, I planned to write most of the duels Yuuya have for his participation requirement. Namely this one with Michio where Michio uses the Nouvelles ritual deck, thus the whole burger thing (And yes, this is both a copy and inspiration from a certain movie, can you blame me, it was excellent). Another is with Teppei Tairyobata using the White synchro deck and Hochun Mieru with her Flip Ritual.
Disclaimer, I had already planned that whole burger thing before the movie even happen so when it came out, I shamelessly copied some of the dialogues from it. (It does makes me want to write a food anime fiction...)
In any case, since those will be scrapped anyway, I can just say this. Yuuya will learn Fusion Summoning much earlier and even use other Odd-eyes dragon monsters to win these duels. And that's it really for this.
The rest of the story from here on will be mostly focused on Kyou Yuuki and the other butterfly effects his existance had caused. I will try to include some other character duels but no guarantees unless necessary. These ones would be one where Kyou Yuuki had impacted the duelists by having cards that he gave or he inspired them.
Anywho, that's it really. And once more, thank you all for enjoying my fiction.
