A/N: Short chapter.
Lucan Valerius was busy closing the Riverwood Trader for the day before Eddy burst in, a frown on his face and his body still charred black from the lightning. He walked up to the counter and slammed the Golden Claw on the table.
"Here's your stupid claw! Now pay up!" Eddy demanded.
Lucan just stared for a moment before he picked up the claw and started examining it.
"Well what do you know? You actually went and got this thing back for us?" he asked as Ed and Edd entered the building.
"Indeed, we have." Edd answered.
"And we fought the giant spider, and bandits, and zombies and-" Ed ranted before Eddy stuffed an empty phial into Ed's mouth.
"Shut up, stupid! And you! Pay up!" Eddy snapped at both Ed and Lucan.
"Eddy!" Edd scolded before turning to Lucan. "I apologize for Eddy's attitude. We had a...a bit of a rough time up in Bleak Falls Barrow."
"I can tell. Well, a deal is a deal." Lucan said before handing them a pouch of gold. "200 gold. As promised."
"200?!" Eddy yelled with a huge grin. "I'M RICH!" he continued while laughing like a madman, which unnerved Lucan and caused Camilla to come down the stairs and see what was happening.
"What's going on?" she asked before she noticed the Eds. "You've returned! And the claw?"
"Right here." Lucan said as he put it back on the mantle above the fireplace before looking at Eddy, who was giggling as held the money in his hands. "And as for what's going on? This guy believes 200 gold makes him rich."
"Either he's lived a very poor life, or he has no idea the value of money." Camilla commented.
"A little of both." Edd answered. "Well, as...fun as delving into Bleak Falls Barrow was, I believe my friends and I will be taking our leave. Good day." he said before he walked towards the door. "Come along, Ed."
"Okay!" Ed answered before grabbing Eddy by his hair and dragging the still giggling Ed out the door with him.
"Those three...are very strange men." Camilla said while Lucan merely nodded.
After leaving Riverwood Trader, the Eds decided to rest at the Sleeping Giant Inn for the night while planning to set out for Whiterun tomorrow. The Inn only had one room, which meant the Eds had to share. As they were unwinding with food and drink, the Eds told of their little adventure into the Barrow.
"So that golden claw I have was the key to some big treasure?" Lucan asked. He and Camilla had decided to visit the Inn for some company and were now listening to the Eds talk.
"Indeed. That's why those bandits stole it in the first place." Edd answered. "However, Arvel betrayed them and tried to get the treasure all for himself."
"Yeah. Not only did he piss his friends off, he got his head bitten off by a huge spider." Eddy added.
"And after we squished it, we went and looked for the treasure! It was guarded by a zombie that attacked with a sonic scream!" Ed continued.
"A what now?" Embry asked as he wobbled in his seat.
"A Shout."
Everyone turned to Delphine as she came back with food for the Eds.
"A...shout?" Edd asked.
"It's what we call the power of the Voice." she said as she set the food out. "Those who master the power of the Thu'um, or Shout, are said to be capable of unimaginable power."
"Like when Eddy and Sarah get into a screaming match before she knocks him through the dirt with her fists?" Ed asked before he frowned and started to cry. "I MISS MY BABY SISTER!" he yelled, his eyes flowing with tears.
"Ah, quit blubbering! If anything, it's good she's not here! She'd be yelling at us to do something like the spoiled brat she is." Eddy huffed.
"There there, Ed. I'm sure Sarah's alright." Edd said as he tried to comfort his crying friend.
"So what else was there? Did you find the treasure?" asked Frodnar.
"We found some gold and jewels. There was a treasure chest at the end, but it didn't have much." Eddy answered.
"There was this strange stone tablet that one of those Draugr had." Edd said as he brought out the stone tablet in question.
"And that weird wall that chanted!" Ed added.
"And that strange blue stuff that flew into your eyes." Eddy finished.
"Chanting walls and blue stuff into eyes?" Delphine chuckled. "You three either have strange imaginations, or you've been drinking skooma."
"Nah, we're good." Eddy answered before whispering to Edd. "What the heck is skooma?"
"I haven't the foggiest." Edd answered before Ed let out a loud yawn.
"I'm sleepy." Ed announced.
"As am I." Edd stated while Eddy stretched. "It is getting late. Perhaps we should turn in for the night?"
"Yeah. I'm getting tired. But first, food!" Eddy stated.
With that, the three of them ate their meals, paid for a room and went to sleep.
-Morning-
Delphine, decked out in her traveling gear, stood in front of the Eds door and knocked.
"Hey, you three! It's morning! Wake up!" she called out to them. When they didn't answer, she grunted and opened the door to see if they were there. She found Edd sleeping on the bed, Eddy resting on the floor and Ed snoozing away as he hung upside down on the rafters by his toes. She stared at them for a moment before she walked away, then came back with a spoon and pot. "I said wake up!" she yelled before she started to banging the spoon on the pot, jolting the three of them awake.
"Who?! What?! Where?!" Eddy yelped as he looked around in confusion.
"Oh dear...Did we oversleep?" Edd asked while rubbing his eyes.
"Who's there?" Ed asked before he dropped from the rafters right on his head.
"Get up, you three. We're burning daylight." Delphine told them before she left and slammed the door shut, making the three of them jump. The three of them got dressed, ate and left the Inn, with Delphine waiting for them outside. "About time. You ready to leave?"
"Remind me again why you're guiding us there." said Eddy.
"Because I have some things to take care of in Whiterun. And since you three are heading that way, I figured I'd show you the way. Otherwise, you'd just get lost." Delphine answered.
"Well, that's very kind of you, Miss Delphine." Edd said with a smile. "Shall we be off then?"
"Yeah. We should be able to make it to Whiterun around noon." Delphine said before she turned and started walking. "This way."
"Oh boy, oh boy! A new place, guys!" Ed cheered as they followed Delphine.
"Knock it off, Ed. It can't be that great." Eddy told him.
"I only hope we don't run into any trouble on the way there." Edd said, making Eddy look at him.
"You had to say it." he groaned.
