The young man who'd just materialized in the warehouse was surprised to find the sun was high in the sky when he exited the warehouse, given it had been night when he and the girls had gone after the nest of vampires discovered holed up in the warehouse.
"So, the freakiness that is my life continues." He muttered, looking at the bright blue sky. "So, what are we talking about here, time travel? Forward? Back? More importantly, how the Hell do I get back home?!" He headed for the High School, hopeful there was a Giles here who could find the needed answers, preferably before his head exploded from the latest thing to fuck up his life. He made his way around to the fire escape at the back of the Library and inside where, to his relief, he found his favorite Answer Man, Rupert Giles.
"Giles, I need help, yet another freaky something is happening." He didn't expect the man to grab a loaded crossbow from under the checkout desk and aim it at him. His hands shot up. "Woah, Giles, what's with the pointing of weapons at me? Oh, don't tell me, instead of time travel, I've reality hopped? Is there not a me around here?"
"Who are you?" Giles demanded.
"Alexander Harris, people call me Xander."
"You don't look like Xander Harris." Giles said flatly.
"Uh, I have no idea how to respond to that. How can I not look like myself?"
"Buffy made an accidental wish and his appearance was altered, permanently."
"Let me guess, an argument about her hiding Angel's return from Hell? Buffy saying something incredibly stupid and a vengeance demon granting it and screwing me over in the process?"
Giles lowered the crossbow slightly but still remained alert. "What wish did she make?"
"For me to know what it's like for Angel and for her, being what they are. The demon focused on the part about Buffy and granted that part."
Giles lowered the crossbow even more. "Another reality may be correct. Buffy made the wish here too, but the demon focused on the part about Angel."
"Please God, tell me she didn't turn me into a vampire!"
"A fictionalized version of one." Giles confirmed. "Not dead and not a demon, but still something of a vampire. I will need to place you in a containment circle and run tests. Will you allow me to do that?"
"Yeah, sure, do what you need to and then you can help me figure out how to get back home. I've got a test tomorrow and I'm doing my best to keep my grades up, even with the way Buffy fucked up my life with that wish."
Giles kept the crossbow in his hand and grabbed his supplies with the other and carefully set up a containment circle and began his tests.
"So," Xander talked while Giles ran his tests, "what's today's date here?"
"December 8th." Giles answered.
"Ah, so Cordy's birthday has passed and mine is upcoming yet. It's passed my birthday back home. We are together here, right? Please tell me at least that much hasn't been screwed up."
"No, they're together." Giles assured him.
"Good. Cordy may hate the freakiness, but at least she's not blaming me. So, other me is a fictional kind of vampire, let me guess, one from out of a romance novel, because Buffy thought she was living a real life version of a romance novel but forgot the fact that her vampire was a dead body run by a demon regardless of the soul? Which I take it means the fictional made real version of me actually is a non dead body not being run by a demon?"
"Yes." Giles nodded. "Unfortunately for both Buffy and Angel, the curse doesn't change those facts, making a relationship between them a violation of both the laws of man and gods."
"And Willow thought me and Cordy violated the laws of man and gods. She's real confused on what the laws are if she really believes that. So, your conclusions?"
"The tests show you are Alexander Harris, but you're not resonating with our reality."
"Yeah, I'm a scifi geek, Giles, I know what that means. So next we figure out how I got here and than we figure out how to get me home."
"Yes, I'll call Xander and Faith, they can help us get started on figuring this out. The rest should be out of class in a few hours, we may have answers by the time they are. You said the demon granting the wish concentrated on the part of the wish that applied to Buffy and her circumstances, what does that mean?"
"It means thanks to that wish I'm now a fictionalized version of a vampire Slayer, known as a vampire Executioner and I'm just grateful the damn wish only gave me the original powers and abilities the Executioner had, because the ones the character gained after getting involved with her own vampire, not to mention a were leopard are not something I want anything to do with. Not that I want to be a vampire Executioner anyway. The training, knowledge and some of the skills she has are great, but being a necromancer, not so much. But at least the demon didn't go all the way and turn me into a girl. I'm pretty sure I'd no longer be sane if she did that."
"A fictionalized vampire Slayer made real?!"
"Oh, it gets even freakier, Giles. But I'll wait until everyone gets here before telling the rest of it."
"Probably for the best, you don't want to be repeating yourself."
"So, any trace of the Magic that brought me here, because I'm also pretty sure it was Magic."
"Yes, a slight trace, possibly enough to track it to its origin. I'll just call Xander and Faith now. What is the name of the fictional vampire Executioner anyway? I should see if any of the books are here in the Library, like the ones our Xander has become are based on."
"Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter."
