The road trip had begun to find its rhythm as Alfie's convertible cruised down the highway, leaving Reims behind and heading toward Germany. The landscape shifted from the gentle vineyards of Champagne to the rolling hills and thick forests of northeastern France. The sun was high in the sky, casting a golden glow over the fields and villages they passed.

Alfie was at the wheel, his eyes focused on the road ahead, but there was a relaxed smile on his face. Emily sat beside him in the front passenger seat, her hair blowing in the wind, a half-empty bottle of champagne in her hand. In the back seat, Mindy and Camille lounged comfortably, their laughter mingling with the hum of the engine and the tunes playing from the car's radio.

"Champagne on a road trip is a genius idea," Mindy said, taking a swig from her bottle and passing it to Camille, who took a sip as well.

"Definitely adds a touch of class," Camille agreed, feeling more at ease than she had in days.

Alfie glanced over at Emily with a playful grin. "You know, there's more champagne in the cooler on the passenger seat. Suit yourselves, ladies."

Emily giggled and reached into the cooler, pulling out another bottle and handing it to Mindy. "Road trip essentials, right?"

Mindy laughed as she popped the cork and poured some into her cup. "Totally. I'm starting to think this whole thing was a great idea after all."

As the champagne flowed, the mood in the car grew increasingly festive. The girls were getting a bit tipsy, their spirits lifted by the bubbly and the sense of adventure that lay ahead. The car's radio played a mix of songs, and when Britney Spears's "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" came on, the three women erupted into excited cheers.

"Oh my God, I love this song!" Emily exclaimed, turning up the volume.

"Britney is a vibe!" Mindy added, already starting to sing along, her voice harmonizing with the iconic chorus. Camille joined in, her voice slightly slurred but full of enthusiasm.

As the three of them belted out the lyrics, Alfie couldn't help but laugh. "You girls are really getting into this, huh?"

"Hell yeah!" Camille shouted over the music, her usual composed demeanor slipping away under the influence of the champagne. "This is the best road trip ever!"

But just as they reached the song's bridge, Alfie reached over and switched the radio station. The vibrant beat of Britney Spears was abruptly replaced by the more subdued sounds of a British radio station, playing some soft rock ballad.

"What the hell, Alfie?" Mindy protested, leaning forward from the back seat, her face a mix of disbelief and playful annoyance. "Why'd you change the station?"

"Yeah, Alfie, put Britney back on!" Camille demanded, her hands waving in the air dramatically.

Alfie grinned, his eyes still on the road. "You lot were getting a little too wild back there. Need to keep things under control, you know?"

Emily pouted, joining in the protest. "Come on, Alfie, don't be such a buzzkill. We were having fun!"

Alfie's grin widened, clearly enjoying their reaction. "Alright, alright. But you've got to promise me you won't start a riot in the back seat."

"Promise!" all three of them chorused, their voices full of playful desperation.

With a chuckle, Alfie flipped the radio back to the Britney Spears track, now in its final verse. The girls immediately resumed their sing-along, their voices loud and uninhibited as they swayed in their seats, bottles of champagne in hand.

As the song came to an end, Alfie quickly switched the station back to the British radio station, much to the girls' collective groan.

"Again? Really, Alfie?" Mindy asked, throwing her hands up in exaggerated frustration.

Alfie shrugged, a teasing smile on his lips. "You know, variety is the spice of life. Can't have you all getting too comfortable."

"But we were just getting into it!" Emily protested, a half-laugh in her voice despite the champagne-induced sulkiness.

"Yeah, what's your deal with the British radio anyway?" Camille chimed in, still not entirely sure if she was more amused or annoyed.

Alfie sighed theatrically, as if trying to explain something profound. "Look, we're on a road trip, crossing borders and all that. It's a cultural experience. You can't just stick to one thing the whole time. Got to mix it up a little."

Mindy squinted at him, playfully suspicious. "Are you just saying that because you're British and want to make sure we hear something familiar?"

Alfie raised an eyebrow, pretending to be offended. "Oi, don't go questioning my motives! I'm just trying to expand your musical horizons."

"Sure, sure," Emily said, rolling her eyes but smiling nonetheless. "But you could have picked something less… sleepy."

"Fine, I'll find a compromise," Alfie said with a wink. He flipped through the stations until he found a channel playing a more upbeat British pop song, something they could still vibe to without completely abandoning the party atmosphere.

"There we go," he said, satisfied with his choice.

The girls nodded in approval, settling back into their seats, their earlier complaints forgotten as they swayed to the new rhythm. The champagne continued to flow, the mood in the car light and joyful as they crossed the border into Germany.

As they neared Saarbrücken, the first German city on their route, Alfie glanced over at Emily. "So, what's the plan when we get to Germany? More sightseeing, or do we just keep driving?"

Emily considered it for a moment, looking back at Mindy and Camille. "What do you guys think? Do we want to stop in Saarbrücken, or just keep going?"

Mindy, her eyes sparkling with mischief, grinned. "How about we find a place to grab a bite? We could use some real food to balance out all this champagne."

Camille nodded in agreement. "And maybe see a bit of the city. We're in Germany, after all. Might as well make the most of it."

Alfie nodded, adjusting his grip on the steering wheel. "Alright, sounds like a plan. Let's find a good spot in Saarbrücken to recharge before we hit the road again."

As they continued their journey, the champagne-induced haze settled into a comfortable warmth, and the group found themselves slipping into an easy rhythm. The road ahead was long, and they had no idea what other adventures or challenges awaited them, but for the moment, they were content to enjoy the ride, the music, and each other's company.

And so, with the sound of a British pop tune playing in the background and the promise of new experiences just over the horizon, they drove on, ready for whatever came next on their journey to Vietnam.
