A week later Sonic was on his way to school a little nervous about this.
The kids would call him every few days and the foster parents would say they're doing fine.
The school staff understood what he was going through so gave him permission to keep his phone with him in case of an emergency.
Sally was next to him holding his hand.
"It's going to be OK." she said.
Sonic nodded and then opened the door and they all looked at him.
Sonic was a little uncomfortable so headed to his locker to see Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream, Blaze and Silver standing there waiting as usual.
"Hey guys." he said smiling.
"Hey Sonic." Tails said and Knuckles gave him a high five.
Shadow saw him there and smiled.
"What's up?" Rouge asked.
"Sonic's back." he said smiling and she looked at him.
"Wow. I didn't think he'd be able to get back so soon."
"Well you have to remember he's with Sally."
She shrugged and nodded.
"True."
Then they looked at them again and saw them laughing.
"Did he decide whether he wants to stay in the orphanage when it's all set or let you take him in and live with you?" she asked.
"Stay in the orphanage and see if he trust's them and stuff. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed there until he finishes school."
Then he saw Sonic looking at him and waved but just got a nod and glare from Sonic's friends.
Then he watched them walk to class talking.
Four months later the kids were going to be back in the orphanage and Sonic swore to go back and see if he trusts them to look after them.
He still hadn't decided whether to live with Shadow and let him take custody or stay in the orphanage.
One of his friends had been adopted by their foster parents and he was happy. They said he could come visit, call them anytime and would call him if they needed help.
He would go check in on the kids after school using Chaos Control everyday.
He had been doing fine at the castle and back in the running team like before.
They were all shocked he could hide everything from them all.
Sonic was in one of the foster parents to visit one of the girls.
"So, how was school?" the mother asked.
"Good. Got an A on my science test today." Sonic said smiling.
They smiled.
The next day Sonic was skipping school to get to meet the new caretaker.
"You must be Sonic the Hedgehog." the caretaker said.
"Yes." Sonic said.
"I've heard you're protective to these kids."
"Yes. My brother left me here after blaming me so I've been here since I was five and turn sixteen next week. So almost eleven years. After the old caretaker I was abused to protect them and pretty much failing school. But now I'm all in order for school. Get A or B. I go to the high school not here."
"We call him our guardian! He's been taking care of us for so long." someone said smiling and Sonic sighed.
"Yeah, she abused me for some reason but I don't know why unless it's from my abilities. But that caused me to have anxiety so I take a medicine but take it when I get to school but hide it on weekends."
"What can you do?"
"Speed, strength, Chaos Blast, Chaos Spear and Chaos Control. My brother can do it to but I'm stronger. And I do have a girlfriend. My brother has offered to take custody of me so I can leave this place but I'm staying here for now. Me and him are having trouble after mentally and physically bullying me in school, hurting me, blaming me for losing our parents, exposing that I live here and leaving me here. So I don't know what to do. He's only older then me by a year but is still the oldest."
She nodded feeling sorry for him.
"So we'll see. If you need or want help with them let me know and I'll give you my phone number."
She nodded.
Then he started telling her about the kids.
A few hours later he was in the castle packing with Sally.
"Do you think she's going to work?" Sally asked.
"I think so but I'm still staying there for a while. I still don't know if I should forgive Shadow and move in with him and stuff or not yet." Sonic said.
"Just take it one step at a time."
He nodded and smiled.
An hour later they were done packing and were in bed.
The next day was Saturday and the kids were going back to the orphanage.
The caretaker had allowed Sonic to let his friends visit and him to go visit them.
They were standing right in front of the door now and the new caretaker was outside smiling.
"Hello everyone. I'm Ms. Cole and will be taking care of you."
"Hello Ms. Cole." they said.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt any of you. Sonic has told me about you and given me his number. I'm letting him go visit his friends and let them come here. After taking care of you he deserves to be a normal child from time to time."
The kids nodded smiling.
"Well, let's go inside to your rooms and unpack."
They nodded and went to their rooms.
When Sonic got to his room he sat on his bed and sat quietly thinking.
"I think this will work. I'm still looking after them though." he said.
Then he grabbed his phone.
At the orphanage and the caretaker is letting you guys come visit and me go hang out with you.
Then he sent it to them all.
