It had been a week and Sonic was getting let out.

Shadow was doing the paperwork and Tails and Knuckles were standing with him.

"Ready to go?" Shadow asked when he was done and Sonic nodded.

Then Shadow took his hand and Chaos Controlled to Wood Orphanage.

A few seconds later they were right outside it and Sonic held onto Shadow for safety.

Shadow held him close and Tails and Knuckles were with him.

"We're right here Sonic." Tails said.

"And not going anywhere." Knuckles said.

Sonic nodded so Shadow knocked on the door and Ms. Cole opened the door.

"Can- Sonic? Tails? Knuckles? Shadow?" she said and Sonic said nothing but nodded. "Is he alright?"

"Yeah. Just traumatized and going to see a therapist. We came here to talk to you about something." Shadow said and held Sonic close.

"Alright." she said and let them in.

Then one of the kids saw them and smiled.

"Sonic!" she said then ran over to him and hugged him getting him to panic.

"I didn't do it!" he said and tried to get away.

"Katie, Katie, let him go." Ms. Cole said and she gently took her off of him.

Sonic stood there shaking and Shadow was holding him close along with Tails and Knuckles.

"It's OK, it's just one of the kids." Shadow said gently. "She's not gonna do anything to you."

Sonic started to calm down and nodded.

Then he looked at Katie and nodded.

So she hugged him again and he hugged her back.

"I missed you." she said.

"OK, why don't we go to my office and we can talk about this." Ms. Cole said and they nodded.

So Katie let Sonic go and Shadow held onto him again.

When they got to her office Shadow, Tails and Knuckles sat down while Sonic sat on Shadow's lap and Shadow held him close.

"Alright, what are you going to do? Stay here or let Shadow take care of you?" Ms. Cole asked.

"Come home with Shadow." Sonic said.

She nodded understanding.

"OK." she said. "You came here to tell me that and say goodbye." she said and Sonic nodded. "Alright."

Then she got up along with the others and headed to the kids.

When they got there Ms. Cole cleared her throat.

"I have someone you'll be happy to see." she said. "You have to be gentle with them though."

"Yes Ms. Cole." they said.

Then Sonic came in still holding onto Shadow's hand.

"Sonic!" they are all said smiling.

"H-h-hey." Sonic said.

Then he felt one of them hug him and he started panicking a little.

"It's OK, it's just one of the little ones." Shadow said gently.

Then Sonic started to calm down and hugged her back.

Then slowly the rest of the kids joined them.

A few minutes later they let go and looked at each other smiling.

"Are you coming back?" Tom asked.

Sonic stood there quietly for a few minutes then shook his head.

"No. I, I'm staying with Shadow." he said and saw them have tears going down. "I'm sorry, after what happened over the years I can't do it anymore. I'd have to leave in two years anyway."

"Please don't leave us!" Natasha said and hugged him.

He froze for a minute then calmed down and held onto her.

"I'm sorry. I can't do it anymore." he said shaking his head. "But I promise to come visit you and Ms. Cole can call me if she needs help. If you were to get adopted to you can have her give them my number and you can call me after school. OK?"

They nodded.

"Can we still call you our guardian?" someone asked.

He smiled and nodded.

"I guess. Even though I'll be gone, I'll always be there for you. You know what I can do now." he said.

They nodded and then he, Tails, Knuckles and Shadow went to his room and packed up.

When he was done he stood there quietly and looked around to make sure he had everything.

"You ready?" Knuckles asked and Sonic nodded.

"Yeah." he said.

Then Knuckles put one arm around Sonic while Shadow did the other with Tails holding his hand.

When they got downstairs they stopped and saw everyone standing there.

"Bye Sonic." they all said fighting tears.

He smiled.

"Bye guys. I'll come visit you and if Ms. Cole ever needed help to just call me." he said and they nodded.

Then Ms. Cole handed Shadow his prescription.

"Here. This is what he takes every morning." she said.

He nodded and held onto them.

"Thanks." he said.

Then he opened the door and they left.

Sonic looked at it one more time then took Tails' hand while Shadow took Knuckles.

"Ready?" Shadow asked and Sonic nodded. "OK."

"Chaos Control!" they said and were gone.

A few seconds later they were right outside Shadow's and he let go of Knuckles then took out his key.

Then he opened the door and walked in.

"OK, you remember where everything is?" Shadow asked and Sonic nodded.

Then he, Tails, Knuckles and Shadow headed upstairs to his room.

When they got there Sonic stopped there in shock.

"I redecorated it for you last week. Tails and Knuckles helped me to." Shadow said and Sonic looked at them.

"We're your best friends. We know you the best." Knuckles said.

"Thanks guys." Sonic said and they nodded.

"No problem." Tails said smiling. "We'll see you tomorrow!" He said and Knuckles gave Sonic a high-five and they left.

"Why don't you lay down and relax for a bit?" Shadow asked and Sonic nodded and went to lay down.

Shadow went downstairs and thought about what he had done all those years ago and sighed.

"I'm not screwing up this time." he said strong. "If he has a nightmare he can come to me and I'll be there."

For the next few hours Shadow got some paperwork done and officially becoming Sonic's guardian while Sonic slept.

Shadow and Rouge had plans when they graduate high school. Like Sonic being an officer, they wanted to work for GUN as a team.

They were both good at spying on people and already had an opening for them when they graduate thanks to one of Rouge's friends.

Commander Towers had talked to them with Rouge's friend's help and was interested in them at what powers Shadow has and such.

Shadow didn't know what to do now that he had Sonic to take care of but he knew he had all his friends to help.

The next day they were at school and Sonic was actually smiling to see the gang.

Shadow watched smiling as Sonic gave Knuckles and Tails a high five and Sally a kiss.

Then Rouge came next to him.

"So, how's it feel to have your brother back?" Rouge asked and he looked at her smiling.

"Better." He said and she smiled.

"Good. You still working for GUN when we graduate with me though, right?"

"Of course! Sonic wants to be an officer himself so we're all set. Who better to work for GUN than Team Dark?" He said smirking and they High-five.

Sonic looked at Shadow and smiled while Shadow looked at him back and smiled.

Things would be fine.
