"Come on, Hisashi!" Inko calls, skipping ahead across the grass.
It's the middle of June now, a warm, dry day and Inko is taking him to meet some of her friends.
"I'm coming!" he yells back, trying not to trip over the large sticks lying on the ground. He would never forgive himself if he ruins one of the only shirts his brother had given him.
"Oh gosh, Shi. We'll be late!" Inko backtracks to interlock her fingers with his, giving him a gentle tug.
"I don't think they'll mind," he mutters. "If they're anything like you've described, they'll be more annoyed that I'm not wearing designer clothes."
Inko giggles. "Oh hush, you'll- Look! They're here! Suki!"
She tugs his arm harder this time and Hisashi trips over his own feet, just managing to keep himself from belly-flopping.
"Koko!" Someone shouts. "Stop dragging the fucker. He can clearly walk!"
Inko blushes. "Right, sorry!"
"Not me, idiot!"
Inko grabs Hisashi's forearm to steady him with a small "Sorry."
Hisashi kisses her gently. "It's alright." He pauses. "Your friend seems a bit rude."
Inko shrugs. "Just how she talks, I guess."
They've been dating for almost a year now, Hisashi finding his girlfriend more of a blessing each day. Who'd have thought Hisashi would ever fall in love? Certainly not him.
"Let's get going then," he concludes, earning a blinding smile from Inko. They walk faster, Hisashi still looking out for the branches, Inko leading the way, her green hair flopping against her back as she moves.
A couple sit on a picnic blanket under a large oak tree, both with spiky hair. The woman's hair is blonde, and she has red eyes, while the man's hair and eyes are brown. Inko gives the woman a hug, which she returns with a scoff.
The man stands up and holds out his hand. "Bakugou Masaru. Nice to meet you."
Hisashi shakes his hand, "Midoriya Hisashi. Nice to meet you too."
Masaru gives him a smile, gesturing to the woman. "She's Mitsuki."
"Are you married?" Hisashi asks, to which he receives a nod.
"Actually, we got married last month, so it might be easier if you use our given names," Masaru laughs.
"You can call me Hisashi then," he says.
"Alright, shall we eat?" Inko asks, to a round of nods.
Lunch is sandwiches and cut up vegetables like carrots and cucumbers; altogether not too fancy, but pleasant anyway. They talk occasionally, during which time Hisashi learns that Inko met Mitsuki at university and Masaru as they were already dating at that point. Mitsuki doesn't say a word directly to Hisashi, something that bugs him as he has no idea what he did to upset his girlfriend's 'bestie'.
He finds out later.
Inko strikes up a conversation with Masaru about his and Mitsuki's honeymoon and Mitsuki takes the opportunity to pull Hisashi away.
She gets them far enough away that the other two won't hear what she has to say.
Mitsuki glares at him, arms crossed, as she speaks. "Inko clearly likes you so I won't intrude and hurt her. But, if you ever do, I will make sure you lose your face, got it?"
She wouldn't succeed, but Hisashi has no doubt that would stop her from trying.
"I would sooner kill myself than hurt Inko," he says truthfully, and Mitsuki nods, seemingly satisfied for now.
"I'll keep you to that," she promises before her face suddenly brightens. "Anyway, you can call me Mitsuki. After all, I'm sure our children will be best friends!"
"Ch- children?" Hisashi splutters.
They move into their own house in August. Hisashi and Inko have a lot of fun painting the walls in random colors and designs. Inko says that plain white walls are boring and Hisashi (after months at the accounting firm) has to agree.
Inko and Hisashi paint their own art for the walls, and buy a mix of very modern and antique furniture, creating an… interesting look.
But it's home and Hisashi couldn't be happier.
They celebrate their one year anniversary at the same restaurant where they had their first date. This time, they order a five-course meal, as opposed to the three courses they had last time. Inko looks incredible the whole time, a necklace from Hisashi strung around her neck, and a dazzling smile painted across her face. She takes him around Musutafu's book shops, both of them ending with original editions of several pre-quirk era books, something Hisashi is surprised but pleased by.
When they arrive home, Inko throws down her purse and the bag containing their books and leads them to Hisashi's room, laughing the whole way.
And as he wakes up the next morning, Inko stretched out beside him, still asleep, Hisashi reflects on just how lucky he is.
Inko wakes with yet another smile, but is up soon after, so as to make it to work on time. Hisashi walks there with her, only leaving her side when she heads off to her department and he has to continue up to his office.
Safe to say, he doesn't get any work done that day, too busy reminiscing about the day before.
That week after work, they turn Inko's room into another spare room and she moves into Hisashi's room permanently.
Inko and Hisashi share a closet, a bed.
They fall asleep every night holding each other, problems forgotten as they bask in each other's company.
Heaven smiles upon them.
And seven dead people frown.
