Hi everyone, welcome back to J-WITCH. Before we get started, for those who aren't aware, they are doing a manga reboot for the canon WITCH series. As for whether or not it'll impact my story, I already have a solid plan for Season 2, and it won't change. But regarding a Season 3, we'll just have to see. Yes, I do intend to write a Season 3 for this story at a later date, but right now, I'm not even at the half-way point for Season 2 and I'm focusing more on what I have right in front of me and I'm trying not to jump too far ahead.
Now, with that out of the way, let's get this electrifying chapter underway.
Stealing Thunder
"Alright, thanks to that Locator Spell, we found out that Drago and the Knights of Vengeance are holding out at an old steel mill just outside of Heatherfield." Will said as she, Irma, Jade, Hay Lin, Cornelia, and Taranee, all in their respective Guardian forms, gathered at a table in Elyon's throne room alongside Elyon herself, Jackie, Caleb, Tohru, Uncle, and Blunk, with the leader of J-WITCH laying out a map of the steel mill.
"It is abandoned, so we do not have to worry about innocent people getting swept up in this." Jackie said.
"Most of our forces will try and attack the place from the outside and draw out the Knights." Elyon explained. "While Jackie, Uncle, and Blunk sneak in via Fold inside the Base with the Chi-Omatic to try and remove the Thunder Demon Chi from Hak Foo while he and all his buddies are distracted."
"Ah the whole 'full scale assault as a distraction' move." Jade smirked.
"Just like the final battle in Lord of the Rings!" Hay Lin beamed.
"Classic finale stuff." Irma added as she, Hay Lin, and Jade shared a three-way high-five.
"Um… Why Blunk in middle of fight?" The Passling asked, raising his hand. "Passling no mix with lightning."
"Because your heightened nose can sniff out any traps that Drago might have rigged in there." Jackie answered.
"Come on Blunk, we need you." Irma pleaded. "You always come through in a pinch."
That seemed to perk up Blunk's spirits. "Then Captain Blunk report for duty!" He stood up straight and saluted.
"My Dad's already got a large enough strike force." Caleb said. "We're ready to move in whenever you guys are."
"When we went to Earth to locate Drago's hideout, we talked to Miss Lin, and she will be joining us as well." Tohru added.
"Even Matt's getting in on this." Will put in.
"Seems like we have everything covered." Taranee said. "If we pull this off, we might be able to take down Drago and the Knights once and for all."
"And that'll make our job easier to get the last two pieces of Demon Chi that are still out there." Cornelia added with a grin.
"There's just one little risk here." Alchemy said. "The locator spell can only be active in the realm that Drago is in. So, when we get to Earth and he somehow escapes into Meridian, the spell won't work until he gets back to Earth again."
"Can't we follow him to Meridian?" Hay Lin ask. "Won't the spell work then?"
"It can, but if he goes back to Earth while the spell is in Meridian, it's the same thing again." Alchemy answered.
"That is not only problem." Uncle revealed as he held out the Chi-Omatic. "We have had no time to make spare Chi-Omatic. If this one is damaged, we cannot contain Thunder Demon Chi."
"All more the reason for us to move in now." Will said. "Drago doesn't know we're onto him, so if we attack right now, we might be able to catch him off guard for once."
"Then what are we waiting for? Time to snuff the tragic dragon!" Jade stated.
"Yes, we're moving in now!" Jackie declared.
However, unbeknownst to all of them, their entire conversation was overheard by Trill who was just outside the throne room. Once she heard all she needed to hear, she walked away and rounded one corner. She took a moment to make sure she was alone before assuming her true form…
Nerissa!
The sorceress quickly used her staff to open a Fold to leave Meridian and vanished from the dimension without a trace.
Earth – Steel Mill
Black clouds covered the sky as rain was already coming down hard on the Knights' hideout. Though the villains in question seemed dry at the time, one in particular seemed more focused on the power he had at his disposal, which he used to obliterate an old piece of equipment with a powerful thunderbolt.
"Yes! The power of the Thunder Demon, a worthy power for the Black Tiger!" The demonically transformed Hak Foo boasted. "Nobody, not even Chan and those wretched Guardians can oppose me now! Bow before my might!"
However, it didn't seem like anyone was really paying attention, particularly StrikeMaster Ice and MC Cobra as they seemed to be playing a fighter video game featuring giant robots via their own hand-held devices.
"Yo, you going down clown!" Ice declared.
"Yeah, you wish!" Cobra replied. "Be dropping you like a bad habit!"
Their devices were suddenly zapped from their hands by Hak Foo's lightning, causing them to melt on the ground.
"Now do I have your attention?" The demonic man growled.
"Dude needs to chill." Ice crossed his arms.
"How long has he been at this?" Frost asked Miranda as they were among the other Knights that were scattered throughout the large chamber.
The shapeshifter in her human form rolled her eyes. "Ever since he got a hold of that power. Why is it that I've only had my Water Demon Chi for a few seconds, but that idiot somehow manages to keep his?"
"Speak for yourself. I never had a chance to get a hold of any Demon Chi!" Frost complained.
"Drago already gave you a taste of his, so you don't to whine." Miranda pointed out, earning a growl from the large hunter.
Raythor approached Drago as he leaned against a wall. "Do you believe it to be wise for Hak Foo to have this Thunder Demon Chi?" He asked as they saw Hak Foo flex his muscles and emit an electrical aura. "He's always been a bit power hungry, but he seems to be becoming more aggressive than usual."
"He doesn't just have Tchang Zu's power; he's not getting a taste of his personality." Drago replied before explaining it to his second-in-command. "Raythor, the Demon Chi just doesn't contain the power of the demon in question, it's also a piece of their very life force. Hak Foo's personality is mixing with that of Tchang Zu, and the longer their together, the more they'll mix."
Raythor looked with concern. "So, what's to stop him from turning that power on us?"
"If that happens, I can just drain the power from him. I gave it to him after all." Drago replied.
"Alright." Raythor nodded in acceptance. "But if you're capable of stripping it from him, then it's also very likely our enemies can still do the same and will make another attempt to do so."
"That attempt is closer than you think." The two looked around the corner to a darkened hallway as Nerissa stepped out of the shadows. "We're about to have company."
Meanwhile, outside the steel mill, the group that consisted of Will, Jade, Matt, Tohru, and Yan Lin lead a squad of ten castle guards from Meridian, all hid around whatever form of cover they could find from steel pipes to boxes and anything else. Though Tohru was not quite happy as the rain continued to fall from the sky and on top of him.
"I hate rain." Tohru muttered.
"Really? I think thunderstorms are kinda exciting." Matt said.
"Quiet." Yan Lin shushed. She looked towards Will as the Guardian leader reached out with her psychic link.
"North Team in position. Everyone, sound off."
"South Team ready to roll." Irma replied as she, Hay Lin, Vathek, Tynar, and Aldarn led ten more castle soldiers on the other side of the large building.
"West Team is on standby." Taranee responded into her hand-held communicator, hiding in cover alongside Cornelia, Caleb, Alchemy, Julian, Drake and ten soldiers of their own.
"East Team reporting in." Elyon replied, using her powers to connect to the Guardians' psychic link as her team consisted only of herself, Finn, Ratso, and Chow.
Jade then used her own earpiece to call to the only person not on their psychic link. "Everyone's set, Uncle Jackie. Where are you?"
"Uncle, Blunk, and I were able to sneak in via an emergency exit tunnel underground. We will move in once you give the signal, and the fighting starts." Jackie relayed. Jade then gave a thumbs up to Will, who nodded and reached out again.
"Cornelia, tell Alchemy to make sure that Drago's here. Just in case."
The Earth Guardian placed her hand on Alchemy's shoulder, who nodded as she quietly took out a dried lizard, one that had been embed with the locator spell. The dried lizard glowed a bright green when it pointed towards the building. She nodded again towards Cornelia to relay the information to all the Guardians and Elyon.
"The dragon is in the den."
Will then quietly gestured towards the rest of her team to move in, which they attempted to do so. However, one of the soldiers happened to step onto something in the ground that suddenly caved in slightly, causing him to stop as his foot sank.
"What the…?" The soldier looked down in shock to see a face forming in the ground just as it suddenly exploded in a the form of a sand tornado, much to everyone's shock as they turned around to see the sand twister growing and pulling all ten of the soldiers.
Jade was quick to throw up a barrier of shadow magic to protect herself, Will, Tohru, Matt, and Yan Lin, but she was unable to save any of the allies they brought with them as they were all sent flying in multiple directions before the sand twister took the form of the towering humanoid that made them all somewhat nervous.
"It's Sandpit!" Will exclaimed.
"Well, well, well." The group turned around to see none other than Drago himself, standing on a large pipe above the group. "Looks like we got some rats in this dump." He then unleashed a fire blast from his mouth upon them.
At the same time, the wall to the south side of the building suddenly broke apart as Gargoyle smashed his way through and charged towards the South Team, forcing them to fly, run, or roll out of the way to avoid the towering giant as he brought his clubbed hand onto the ground for a large smash.
"Hey, this wasn't part of the plan! We're supposed to ambush them!" Hay Lin shouted.
"So much for an easy win." Irma's eyelids lowered in annoyance.
"What was that?" Julian questioned as the team on the west side of the steel mill heard the sounds of crashing and explosions.
"Pretty loud for a stealth op." Cornelia said as she, Taranee, and Caleb exchanged worried glances.
They soon heard the sounds of high-pitched martial arts yells and looked in shock to see the whole Ice Crew on skateboards, riding down the pipes that led out from the building and outside. StrikeMaster Ice blew his icy-breath and MC Cobra threw fire balls, forcing the group to scatter while DJ Fist scatted off the pipe and towards the ten soldiers, using the momentum and his steel body to knock them all away before the Ice Crew skated to surround the team of Cornelia, Taranee, Caleb, Alchemy, Julian, and Drake.
"Why do I have the feeling these guys were expecting us?" Taranee gulped.
"What's going on over there?" Finn questioned at the sounds of fighting being heard from all over. But a strand of webbing had attached itself to Elyon's back before pulling back towards the base of a stack of cement tubes, which Frost and Crimson both charged and rammed into from the opposite sides, causing the tubes to collapse on top of the girl.
"Elyon!" Ratso exclaimed in shock, but gasped as he saw the Tracker and Sniffer appear in front of him, with Raythor approaching Finn and Miranda in her spider-form doing the same for Chow, the former Enforcers backing into each other as they were completely surrounded.
"Anyone else smell a trap?" Chow asked rhetorically.
At the same time, inside the steel mill itself, a hatch opened up on the floor as Jackie peeked out to see if there was anyone around, and it did not appear to be so. "All clear." He said in a whisper as he was the first to get out, followed by Uncle with the Chi-Omatic and Blunk, who then scurried up onto Jackie's back and his shoulder.
"Alright Blunk, can you siff out Drago?" Jackie asked.
Blunk sniffed the area. "Hmm, Blunk no smell dragon boy. Probably elsewhere."
"Uncle Jackie!" Jade's voice came through on the earpiece rather loudly, causing him to wince.
"Jade? What is…?"
"It's a trap! Drago's outside! Everyone's being ambushed! We need to…"
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning was shot down towards the three, the force of the electric blast knocked them all back towards a nearby wall. The residual electricity shorted out Jackie's earpiece, cutting off his only means of communication. They soon looked up in fear to see the Thunder Demon Chi empowered Hak Foo standing at the top of a railing on the third story of the chamber.
"Hello Chans… and goodbye." Hak Foo sneered. "Strike of Raiden!" He shot another electric blast towards the three, forcing them to scatter. Jackie and Blunk both made their way towards an empty hallway while Uncle ducked behind an old engine.
"Jackie! Must get closer to remove Thunder Demon Chi from Hak Foo! Uncle needs distraction! The elder told his nephew.
Jackie nodded in understanding. "Blunk, stay here." He told the Passling, who nodded fearfully.
"Yes, Blunk stay safe and away from lightning." Blunk said as Jackie ran out to dodge the electric blasts Hak Foo threw at him.
Hak Foo then leapt from the railing and fell to the ground as more lightning surged around him like an electric meteorite. "Thor Brings Down Mjolnir!" Jackie backflipped just in time to avoid the devastating impact. But Jackie was once again forced to dodge and flip to avoid the many more electric blasts that were thrown at him.
However, while Jackie kept Hak Foo distracted, Blunk happened to pick up an odd scent with his nose. "Hmm, no smell dragon boy. But Blunk do smell someone else." He spotted an air duct near the ceiling of the hallway he was in and quickly climbed his way up and into it to find the source of the smell.
Nobody seemed to notice that on the floor that Hak Foo was previously on, Nerissa hung in the shadows to observe the fight with an intrigued expression.
Sandpit shot its arms forward to create two large vortexes of sand straight towards Will and Jade, the former flying around to avoid the one that was shot at her while the latter erected a shield of shadow-magic to absorb the attack before closing in, generating a shadow-katana to slice at it. But Sandpit avoided the slice by dissipating its body right as Jade reached it, only for Sandpit to the blast itself up and send Jade flying upward. Though she was quickly caught and steadied by Will, Sandpit had flown out in its vortex form to chase after them.
Drago shot more blasts of fire from the pipe he continued to stand on, forcing Yan Lin and Matt to take cover, but Tohru charged forward and rammed his shoulder into the pipe, using his strength to tear through it and knocking Drago off his literal pedestal and onto the ground. Tohru grabbed him by the tail and slammed him into the pipe face-first. But Drago quickly recovered and dug his claws into the pipe to tear the metal off, which he used to slice at Tohru's arms, forcing him to let go as he was already bleeding. The young half-demon then nailed the sumo with a point-blank fire blast to knock him back.
Suddenly, Drago was tackled to the ground by Matt, who tried to force his face into a puddle to keep him from using his fire breath. "Water and fire don't mix, right?"
However, the puddle quickly boiled and exploded into steam, forcing Matt to let go, where Drago quickly recovered and grabbed him by his hoodie.
"You're gonna need a lot more than that." Drago punched Matt in the face to knock him to the ground hard. Before he could advance much farther though, Yan Lin quickly appeared in his way. "Think it's time for you to retire, grandma." Drago warned, brandishing his claws as they sizzled at the tips.
"Oh, so the smarty-pants demon wants a piece of 'grandma'?" Yan Lin challenged as she kicked up a nearby rod and took a combative stance to face her opponent.
Drago grinned evilly. "Gonna be several pieces when I'm through!" He slashed at Yan Lin, but she swerved out of the way and caught him by the wrist with the rod and used his own momentum flip him over herself as she ducked, knocking him to the ground.
"Whoa, remind me not to get on your bad side." Matt commented as he stood up next to Yan Lin.
Drago growled as he tried to get up, only to find himself surrounded by Tohru and the ten soldiers that had recovered from Sandpit's attack, albeit still injured, while Sandpit itself appeared to be caught in a dual Quintessence and shadow attack from Will and Jade on both sides, forcing the behemoth into a corner.
Gargoyle roared as it swung its arm and club-hand at the flying Irma and Hay Lin, which they were able to avoid easily enough. Hay Lin then happened to spot Aldarn carrying a rope as he regrouped with Vathek and Tynar.
"Keep it distracted! Lure it toward us when you hear our call!" Aldarn shouted.
"You got it!" Hay Lin gave a thumbs up as she rejoined the fight. "Irma, did ya hear?"
"Yeah, I heard! So, let's give the big guy something to worry about!" The Water Guardian reached out to control as much of the rain as she could and directed countless raindrops straight at Gargoyle, condensing it all in the form of a giant stream of water and striking it at the large monster with enough force to send it backwards towards the building it previously broke out of.
But Gargoyle was able to steady itself as it dug its feet into the ground and grappled with the broken wall with its only normal hand. When Irma's attack abated, Hay Lin made the next move by creating a large air-sphere in her hands and spun the air at such a rapid pace that when she threw it at Gargoyle, it sliced and broke through much of its outer stone skin, causing it to roar in pain. This only seemed to irritate the monster however as it charged forward in anger, quickly swinging its club hand at the surprised pair of Guardians to knock them both to the ground.
"We're ready!" They heard Vathek's voice call out. "Lure it this way!"
Irma was the first to recover as she helped Hay Lin stand up and the two quickly took back to the air and avoided Gargoyle's stomp.
"Hey, is that all you got!? My little brother throws bigger tantrums!" Irma snarked.
Gargoyle roared again as charged after them, with the Air and Water Guardians flying in the direction they heard their friends call out.
Furter down the makeshift path, Vathek and five of the recovered soldiers each held out the end of one of four strands of rope as they hid behind some rubble, while Aldarn, Tynar, and the other five did the same on the other end, hiding behind some metal on the other side of the path.
Hay Lin and Irma flew past them, and just as the Gargoyle was about to reach that spot, both parties pulled up on all the rope to straighten and tighten it, catching the Gargoyle's left foot and causing it to fall face-first onto the ground.
"He's down!" Tynar shouted.
"We got it!" Irma once again condensed all the rain on the downed Gargoyle, and directed all the rain to spread out around the monster like a casing of water. Hay Lin then added to it by blowing a breeze of the coldest air she could, freezing all the water and trapping the beast in ice.
StrikeMaster Ice and MC Cobra continued to skate around the area and throw out balls of ice and lava, forcing the heroes in the general area to scatter. One blast of lava exploded behind Alchemy, knocking her to the ground where she dropped the dried lizard infused with the locator spell. She tried to reach for it, only to get stomped out by DJ Fist, who towered over the girl with crossed arms.
"Uh… time out?" Alchemy asked meekly, but when DJ Fist was about to throw a punch, Drake had come in with his shield to block the strike, but the force of the punch from the metallic DJ Fist was still enough to break through Drake's shield and knock him into Alchemy. He was about to advance further, only for Caleb to come in and elbow him in the side to knock him back.
Caleb had his katana drawn as he sliced at DJ Fist, who blocked it with his right arm. He then noticed Julian coming in from the other side with his own sword to slice at him, but DJ fist blocked with his left arm. Father and son locked swords with their enemy as they pushed forward, pushing DJ Fist back, only for their metal-skinned enemy to throw his arms out and knock them both back.
MC Cobra skated on a pipe as he pursued the flying Cornelia. He was about to throw a lavaball at her, but Cornelia used her telekinesis to break and dislodge the pipe, knocking MC Cobra off his skateboard and face-first onto the ground, where Cornelia attempted to trap him by growing several large roots from the ground. But MC Cobra's lava skin was able to quickly burn through the plant bindings, allowing him to escape.
"Yo girlfriend, you disrespecting my hizhouse!" MC Cobra ranted.
"My bad, I meant to dis you." Cornelia placed her hands on the ground to send out a cluster of vines MC Cobra's way, but he threw another lava ball to intercept and burn away the plants before trying to close the distance, while Cornelia took to the air and avoid touching the lava-coated foe.
Taranee threw a series of fireballs at the skating StrikeMaster Ice, one exploded in front of him, knocking him off his skateboard. But he flipped in the air to land on his feet before throwing an ice ball at her, which she melted with a blast of fire before landing to face him directly.
"Yo, up for a little one-on-one?" StrikeMaster Ice took a martial arts stance.
Taranee coated herself in fire as she took a kung fu stance of her own. "You know what they say about fire and ice, right?" She accepted his challenged as she motioned for him to bring it on with her hand.
The two charged and collided with strikes. Ice punched, which Taranee quickly parried before kicking, which Ice flipped over to avoid and landed behind Taranee, but she quickly expanded her fire aura to keep him at bay before spinning with her wings to deliver a flaming roundhouse kick, further strengthened by the centripetal force of her rapid spins to send StrikeMaster Ice flying and crashing into a metal pipe.
"Fire beats ice, every time." Taranee smirked.
Caleb and Julian were both on the defensive from DJ Fist's strikes, doing what they can to dodge or block with their swords. Caleb was kicked down before DJ Fist punched at Julian, who tried to block it with his own sword, but DJ Fist's metal-coated fist shattered the blade to knock him down, where Fist proceeded to advance upon him.
"Dad!" Caleb tried to get up and help his father, but DJ Fist was zapped by a stun spell, courtesy of Alchemy who held a blowfish in her hands.
"Hey, I'm getting used to this." She said to herself with a hint of pride. "Not a bad stun spell."
"Dad, are you okay?" Caleb helped Julian up.
"I'm fine. Thank you, Caleb." The man said in relief.
"Mind if we lend some assistance?" Drake offered as he and the other ten soldiers that had accompanied them had recovered and were ready to gang up on the recovered DJ Fist.
Ratso swung his hammer towards Frost, which he caught by the mallet with his demonically enhanced strength before throwing it and Ratso away. He then hopped onto Crimson and charged forward to try and ram Ratso, but Chow quickly tackled him away. The two soon found themselves up against the Tracker as he flailed his mace, the two rolling out of the way to avoid the attack.
Chow quickly stood up as he drew a spear and rushed the Tracker to swing at him, which the Tracker ducked to avoid and stepped back, using the chain from his flail to block and parry the spear strikes as Chow kept up his lunges. Ratso pulled himself up as well and found himself facing the growling Sniffer.
"Uh… nice doggy?" Ratso tried to ease, only to look past it and see Frost and Crimson ready to come in for another charge.
"He's the least of your worries." Frost said before he charged again on his rhino-like steed.
Finn used his shield to block the fire-sword strikes from Raythor, he tried to pull out a short-sword to lunge at him, but Raythor easily swerved out of the way and swept his feet to knock Finn down. Miranda then appeared to pin him to the ground with her webbing.
"This is the honor guard to Meridian's new queen?" Raythor looked nothing short of disappointed. "How pathetic."
Suddenly, the pile of broken pipes exploded in a flurry of magic, catching everyone's attention as Raythor, Miranda, Tracker, Sniffer, Frost, and Crimson were all blasted away by the same magical force, courtesy of the hovering Elyon.
"Hey, nobody disses my friends and gets away with it!" She then used her power to evaporate the webbing from Finn, allowing him to stand up and regroup with Chow and Ratso.
"Thanks, Little E." Finn gave a thumbs up.
"Knights of Vengeance ain't so tough after all." Chow said as the four of them faced the recovering villains, all of whom were looking incredibly nervous.
"Jupiter Strikes Mortal!" Hak Foo threw out multiple electric-coated punches Jackie's way, which he tried desperately to avoid. Jackie ran towards a nearby wall, jumped to run up the wall a bit before jumping up to the railing on the second floor, quickly pulling himself up to avoid the lightning bolt that Hak Foo shot at him even as Jackie ran along the railing. "Indra Invokes Wrath!" He threw another thunderbolt at Jackie, who leapt from the railing just as the bolt tore through and towards a nearby chain, swinging from it to the other side.
With Hak Foo seemingly distracted, Uncle was about to sneak in from behind with a blowfish in one hand and the Chi-Omatic in the other, ready to cast the removal spell, but this did not go unnoticed by Nerissa.
The hiding sorceress used her own Quintessence power to erect a surge of electric power in the palm of her free hand.
"Hak Foo. You may want to look behind you."
The Thunder Demon empowered man heard Nerissa's voice through the power that flowed through his body, and in his mind. He glanced behind towards the approaching Uncle and seized him by the throat.
"Ever see what electricity does to an old man?" Hak Foo was ready to electrocute the old man right then and there.
"Uncle!" Jackie jumped to grab the chain once again and swung down to drive both his feet into Hak Foo's back and knock him to the wall. However, Hak Foo was quick to recover, raise both his fists as they surged with lightning, and slammed them on the ground to send a wave of electricity. Fortunately, Jackie was able to grab his uncle and swing upwards on the chain and avoid the deadly wave. Jackie threw his uncle towards the second floor and leapt to join him.
"Sorceress? How can I hear you just now?" Hak Foo looked around but found no sign of Nerissa.
"My power takes a form that is similar to the element you wield." She explained as she remained in her current spot in the shadows and out of sight. "This allows a unique form of communication." As she explained, she failed to notice Blunk in a nearby air duct who was spying and watching with interest.
Nerissa gazed towards a nearby window and saw the storm was beginning to kick up, with lightning flashing brighter.
"Speaking of your element…" Nerissa raised her staff to send a bolt of Quintessence to the ceiling, blowing a hole that led directly outside. "You might want to step outside now. And gain the power to wipe your foes off the face of the planet."
Hak Foo sneered at the thought of that. "Thunderbird Takes Flight!" Hak Foo jumped straight up, shooting lignting from his hands and feet to propel him further up and towards the hole that Nerissa made, the Sorceress in question sneaking away into the shadows once more, prompting Blunk to follow as he snuck back into the air ducts.
"Where is he going?" Jackie wondered. "Ow!" He felt his forehead where Uncle dope slapped him.
"Do not just stand there! Follow him! Uncle must be in ranger to use removal spell!" The elderly chi wizard criticized, prompting Jackie to let Uncle climb on his back as he tried to make his way up to the next floor to catch up to Hak Foo.
The Thunder Demon empowered Black Tiger had leapt up to the very top of the steel mill from the hole he had just made and gazed around to the see the battles that were unfolding, with the Knights of Vengeance being on the defensive.
"Pathetic." Hak Foo spat in disgust.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning shot down from the clouds and struck Hak Foo, who gave a demonic roar as he felt the additional electricity swell within his body. His red eyes opened as he somehow knew exactly what he needed to do. Reaching out with his own inner power, Hak Foo drew in more lightning from the storm as several bolts shot down toward him, absorbing all of it.
The intense surge of electricity drew the attention of everyone, halting all the fights as they all looked in clear shock.
"Guys, I got a bad feeling about this." Will told her fellow Guardians, as well as Elyon, over their psychic link. "We need to take cover!"
The scene was also being witnessed by Jackie and Uncle as the latter was still being carried on the former's back when they made it up to the third floor to look through the hole in the ceiling and see Hak Foo absorbing the storm's lightning.
"Uncle, what is happening?!" Jackie questioned.
"Thunder Demon Chi has allowed Hak Foo to absorb storm's power!" Uncle exclaimed in realization.
"Oh no…" Jackie dreaded, fearing for the girls and all their allies.
With a roar, Hak Foo unleashed his attack. "ZEUS RAINS DOWN THUNDERBOLTS!" He outstretched both his arms to blast dozens upon dozens of lightning bolts in virtually every direction, striking the ground of the steel mill's whole perimeter, creating electrical explosions all over.
The heroes tried to take cover or protect themselves how they could. Elyon erected a barrier around herself and the Enforcers, which protected them from Hak Foo's electrical onslaught. Jade performed a similar method with a cyclone of shadows above them to protect herself, Will, Matt, Tohru, and Yan Lin, with a handful of the soldiers with them, though a few did get blown away by the electric blasts. Cornelia raised a large mound of earth from the ground above her to provide cover for herself, Taranee, Caleb, Alchemy, and Julian, though Drake and the other soldiers did get blasted back by a few explosions and lightning strikes. Irma and Hay Lin appeared the least lucky as Hay Lin tried to create a tornado to protect herself and all their allies, but the resulting lighting strikes around them tore through Hay Lin's protective barrier, blasting them all in every direction.
This blast also managed to free Gargoyle from his icy imprisonment, who stood up just as Hak Foo's all-encompassing attack came to an end. Hak Foo had leapt down from the roof of the steel mill and landed on Gargoyle's head, while the Knights of Vengeance regrouped, having used the chaos to escape from the heroes, and were fortunate enough not to get struck themselves.
"Whoa…" Frost looked around in awe, as did the other Knights.
"Most impressive." Raythor said in the same tone.
"Such destructive power…" Miranda lulled.
"Oh-ho-ho, epic lightshow, Foo!" Ice complemented Hak Foo while DJ Fist gave him a thumbs up.
"Yo, those dogs all gotta be charcoaled briquets after all that." MC Cobra smirked.
"That brat queen definitely survived that." Drago said. "And I wouldn't count the Guardians out either. Time to find a new base."
Drago used his ring to open a Fold, but before anyone could enter, Raythor spoke up. "What of Nerissa?"
"She can handle herself. We'll meet up with her later." Drago answered before the Knights of Vengeance entered the Fold and escaped.
Jackie and Uncle had made it up to the roof to see the damage from Hak Foo's attack, with Jackie pulling out a pair of binoculars to see how everyone else was doing. Scanning the area, Jackie found that the girls and most of their friends were still one piece, much to his relief. But several of the soldiers and former rebels that had joined them in this assault were seriously hurt.
"Jackie!" He turned around to see Elyon fly her way up and join him and Uncle. "I just got a psychic message from Will; the Knights are gone, and a lot of people are hurt. We need to get them back to Meridian to get help." She put her hands on her face in frustration. "How could this have all gone so wrong?!"
"Elyon, it's alright." Jackie tried to assure her. "We'll figure this out."
"Aiya! It is not alright!" Uncle exclaimed. "The longer crazy man possesses Thunder Demon Chi, the more difficult it will be for Uncle to remove!"
Jackie and Elyon exchanged nervous and unsure looks with one another.
Meanwhile, Nerissa remained out of sight just below the three of them as she gave a slight chuckle before creating a Fold for herself and escaping. Or at least, she thought she was out of sight, as Blunk, who had remained in the air ducts, had witnessed the whole thing.
The Next Day – Sheffield Institute
It was lunch time where Martin, Frank, Charlie, and Rocko all sat at a table with Martin and Frank playing a round of Robo-Merks with Martin being the green robot and Frank playing as the blue one, both had their eyes glued to their respective screens as they were locked in virtual combat while Charlie and Rocko watched on.
"Ha! Eat this!" Frank said as his robot punched Martin's, but the green robot quickly recovered to deliver a spinning kick and knock the blue one down.
"Yeah, float like a butterfly and sting like a bee!" Martin said.
"Go on, get em! You got em! Give em a left!" Charlie said to Frank, sitting behind him.
"Go for the legs! The legs!" Rocko said to Martin.
Frank's robot tried to punch Martin's, btu the green robot ducked and swept its legs to send the blue one flying before the green one dealt the finishing blow with a punch to the face and destroy the opposing robot, winning the match.
"Ha, ha!" Martin cheered triumphantly. "Winner and still champ!"
"Ah man." Frank sulked. "How do you do that? I can never win against you."
"You gotta buff up your skills." Martin explained. "It's not just about getting them; it's making sure you know how to use them. Get too many skills and you won't know which one to use."
"Uh… so there's some math involved?" Rocko asked.
"Whatever, let me play a round!" Charlie said before glancing over Martin and Rocko to see the girls, along with Matt, just sitting down at the table across from them. "Hey, let's see what everyone else is up to."
The four boys moved over to the table that was perpendicular to the one that was currently filled by Will, Jade, Matt, Irma, Cornelia, Hay Lin, Taranee, and Alchemy.
"Hey, what's gotten you guys all so down?" Frank asked upon seeing their frustrated and disappointed expressions. "Maybe a round of Robo-Merks could pick up your spirits?" He offered his game to them.
"Thanks guys, but that's not gonna help us right now." Will replied.
"Hey did something happen?" Martin asked. "And where are Elyon and Caleb?"
"Okay, here's the gist." Irma began. "Drago and his buddies got their hands on the Thunder Demon Chi, which basically makes one of them into a walking bug-zapper."
"We tracked them down to their hideout and had a lot of our friends helping us, including Elyon, but the whole thing turned into a disaster!" Cornelia stated.
"The bad guys ambushed us, Hak Foo tore the whole place apart with his new zappy-zap powers, and they still got away!" Jade groaned in frustration.
"A lot of people got hurt too." Hay Lin added with reluctance.
"What about our uncles? Are they okay?" Charlie asked with concern.
"They're fine." Matt assured. "They're helping Elyon in Meridian right now, taking care of all the people who got seriously injured."
"Caleb's with Jackie and everyone at the shop trying to fix one of the Chi-Omatics that got trashed before and trying to figure out our next move." Taranee said.
"And since the locator spell we were using got destroyed, we got no idea where Drago is now or where to find him." Alchemy added.
"Oh… that does sound pretty bad." Rocko commented.
Jade groaned as she held her head in frustration. "I just don't get it! How did the whole thing turn so upside down!?"
"It's like they knew we were coming!" Taranee added.
"But how?! We planned the whole thing?!" Cornelia questioned.
"Look, it doesn't matter how bad things went back there." Matt told everyone. "What's important is that we find a way to do better next time."
"Well until we hear anything about where Drago might be, we're stuck." Will sulked. "Let's hope Jackie and the others are at least doing something useful right now."
Uncle's Rare Finds
The elderly owner of the shop was making the final adjustments on the spare Chi-Omatic before finishing up. "Fixed. Second Chi-Omatic is now useable."
"Now we just need a means to track down Drago." Tohru said as he and Yan Lin sat at a cauldron. "We should be able to recreate the locator spell, but we still need a piece of Drago and/or Shendu in order to properly utilize it. Is there a way we can go to Meridian to get another piece from the latter?"
"I don't have anything that can open Folds." Yan Lin answered. "So, we'll just have to wait for the girls to get home to do so."
"We got Blunk and his Tonga Tooth." Caleb gestured towards the aforementioned Passling who was also present.
"Uh… Blunk can Fold to Meridian, but… why go to scary dragon?" Blunk asked nervously.
"Shendu's incased in stone. He can't hurt you." Caleb reminded in annoyance.
"But still very scary." Blunk shivered. "Blunk feel more comfortable if friends were with Blunk if need visit Shendu." He added causing Caleb to roll his eyes.
"I'm still wondering how it is the Knights of Vengeance were able to counter us." Jackie said as he poured some dog food in Scruffy's bowl, the dog helping himself to the kibble. "Even if they did plan an ambush in advance, we had the manpower to overwhelm them. That is until Hak Foo overwhelmed us with his super-charged demon powers."
"Um… Blunk not know how to take lightning power." The Passling climbed up onto a counter that Jackie and Caleb were near, getting their attention. "But Blunk remember old lady with lightning powers in Knights' hideout."
"An old lady?" Caleb asked in surprise.
"Old lady with lightning magic talk with crazy lightning man. Tell him about storm." Blunk informed.
"It must have been the same sorceress that was responsible for the girls' nightmares." Jackie recalled fighting her in the dreamscape that one time. "The same one that is backing the Knights of Vengeance. Blunk, did you get her name?"
"No. Blunk no hear name." He shook his head.
"A sorceress with lightning magic. Does that ring any bells to either of you?" Caleb asked Yan Lin and Uncle.
"No, it doesn't." Yan Lin replied. "Lightning can be a common magic power, though I doubt the power this sorceress wields is something that simple." She and Uncle contemplated for a moment, while Tohru continued to work on the locator spell.
"Hmm, perhaps a drop of black widow saliva could increase the potency of the spell…" He added the contents from a vial into the cauldron.
"Tohru! No!" Uncle exclaimed just as a large plum of fire exploded from the cauldron. The resulting flames activated the fire sprinkler system on the ceiling, spraying the entire room with water and everyone in it.
"Ah! Blunk hate getting wet!" Blunk dove under the table to stay dry as Scruffy barked at the smoke alarm beeping loudly.
"Aiya! Does Uncle shop look waterproof?!" Uncle scolded his apprentice, who sulked in disappointment.
Seattle - Yesterday
Shortly after abandoning the steel mill, Nerissa had regrouped with the Knights in Meridian for a brief moment before using another Fold to return to Earth in search for a new lair. And Nerissa seemed to have the perfect one in mind regarding Hak Foo's new abilities. She and her half-demon son led their subordinates through a small park towards the Space Needle, with a fence surrounding the building, and the only person present was a single guard.
"Keep it moving folks, building's closed for renovations." The guard told the group, unable to see their features through the shadows. But when they stepped out into the open, the guard gasped in shock, especially at the sight the massive Gargoyle behind the group of villains.
"Indeed. Ours." Nerissa said to the guard before extending her hand to cast a spell of magic to zap the guard, causing him to fall asleep.
Drago used his fire breath to easily blow a hole through the fence and allow the Knights access to the building.
"Hmm." Raythor took a moment to observe the Space Needle. "Rather tall, we'd be able to see any incoming enemies. And the shape of the structure would make it impossible for them to scale the building." An impressed grin formed on his face. "This 'Space Needle' will do nicely."
"Got that right old dog." StrikeMaster Ice agreed. "Yo Granny, how about you let me and the posse trick out your new digs." He gestured to his crew behind him.
"'Trick out'?" Frost questioned, not understanding what he meant by that.
"He means to fix it up, decorate and remodel the inside." Drago translated.
Miranda scoffed. "I wouldn't trust those three to maintain my garden."
"It's fine." Nerissa allowed. "Just as long as it doesn't interfere with mine and Hak Foo's work."
"Or you shall suffer the wrath of the heavens." Hak Foo himself warned as lightning surged at his hands.
"Sweet." StrikeMaster Ice smirked as DJ Fist and MC Cobra shared a fist bump.
Present Day – Uncle's Rare Finds
The girls of J-WITCH, along with the accompanying Matt, Martin, and Nephorcers had arrived at the Chan family shop to try and discuss their next move, where they found not only Jackie, Uncle, Tohru, Yan Lin, Caleb, and Blunk waiting for them, but Captain Black was present as well, having some important information to share with them all.
"This was taken by a surveillance camera at a Pacific Steel outside of Seattle." Captain Black informed as he showed everyone footage of a robbery in progress on his laptop, said robbery being committed by some familiar faces. "Sheet metal, steel girders, cast iron pipes…" The footage showed DJ Fist and Frost carrying the pipes with their own strength, Tracker and Raythor doing the same with the girders, all right before they saw a brief image of Miranda slashing at the camera, causing it to turn to static.
"And that's not all." Captain Black continued. "Similar crimes have been reported throughout the area." His laptop showed images of many of the items stolen. "Roller coaster cars, a prefab swimming pool, even the sound system at Seabreeze Stadium."
"Man, talk about a shop-till-you-drop." Irma commented.
"But why would the Knights of Vengeance steal all this stuff?" Caleb asked. "It doesn't seem all that useful tactical wise."
"No se, compadre." Captain Black replied. "But I'll bet that wherever's there's Knights, there's a dragon."
"And we know where they are now." Will said as she took out the Heart of Kandrakar. "A quick pop over to Meridian and we'll be in Seattle in no time."
"You can drop me off at Elyon's castle too." Alchemy offered. "I can grab another piece of Shendu to whip up another locator spell just in case Drago gets away again."
"I will join you and help make the spell while you are there." Yan Lin volunteered.
"Alright, time to fight some bad guys!" Martin said.
"Yeah!" The Nephorcers cheered.
"No, you four are staying here." Jackie said firmly.
"What?! Aw come on!" Frank complained.
"That's not fair!" Rocko also complained.
"Our uncles are in on this, so why can't we?!" Charlie questioned.
"Well for one, they can actually put up a fight." Cornelia pointed out.
"Guys, Drago and the Knights are dangerous. We don't want you getting hurt." Taranee told them.
"Uh, didn't we help you guys fight off those guys with a bunch of ghosts?" Frank reminded.
"And I helped that one time, too." Martin also added.
"You got zapped with Earth Demon Powers, Martin." Irma told him. "Now we're dealing with a guy who can actually zap you. The deadly kind of zaps."
"And you had Elyon to help against those ghosts too." Hay Lin said to the Nephorcers.
"So, we'll get Elyon to help." Rocko offered.
"She's busy in Meridian helping all the people who were injured in that last fight." Caleb added.
"Well… this guy's going!" Frank pointed towards Matt. "I don't see why… OW!" He felt a dope-slap on his forehead, courtesy of Uncle.
"Too dangerous." The old man said with finality.
"Sorry guys, it's just not your time yet." Matt said to them.
"Aw." All four sulked.
Will then took out the Heart of Kandrakar and opened a Fold for the group to enter, though Jade did happen to glance back to the four boys and gave them a smirk and a wink.
Seattle
It was a rainy day in the city as Jackie, Will, Irma, Hay Lin, Taranee, Jade, Cornelia, Uncle, Tohru, Caleb, and Matt had just arrived, using a Fold from Meridian and stepping out onto a sidewalk from an alleyway.
"It is very grey here. Very, very, grey." Tohru said lowly.
"Gray and wet." Caleb held out his hand to catch the rain.
"Welcome to Seattle fellas." Matt told them. "Home of grunge rock! Who knows? Maybe after we bust Drago, I can treat a certain someone to a concert." He said flirtatiously towards Will.
"Let's save the world first, rocker-boy." Will playfully nudged her boyfriend.
A car drove by on the street and splashed a puddle, causing the water to spray over them on the sidewalk, much to Tohru's dismay. Though Irma was able to use her powers to manipulate the water and run it off Tohru, causing him to smile with a nod.
"Man, the rain is coming down kinda hard." Hay Lin observed.
"The weather reports for the city said we're about to get the 'thunderstorm of the century.'" Jackie said, earning a slight glare from Tohru. "Sorry." Jackie winced to his friend.
"So how are we supposed to find Drago if we don't have that locator spell?" Cornelia asked.
"That's why we brought the nose who puts bloodhounds to shame." Jade gestured to her backpack, where Blunk peaked his eyes out to avoid being seen. "Well, Blunk? You pick up anything?"
Blunk took a moment to sniff the area. "New city, new smells, can't pick up dragon boy's scent."
"Maybe if we split up, we can cover more ground?" Hay Lin offered.
Taranee had taken out a map of the city. "Seattle's pretty big. Even with Blunk's nose, we're basically looking for a needle in a haystack."
"Aiya! No time! We must find Knights of Vengeance before Hak Foo can use Thunder Demon power to cause destruction!" Uncle stated.
Will took a moment to think before glancing at a police car that was parallel parked nearby, with the police officer that was driving it getting a coffee from a nearby stand. This gave her an idea.
"Hang on, maybe we can narrow it down." She appeared to have an idea as she casually walked closer to the police car, seemingly minding her own business as she passed it and leaned on the parking meter for the space ahead. "Hey, anyone there?" She asked in a low whisper so the officer couldn't hear.
"This is the Chief here. How can I help you? You got an emergency, little lady?" The police radio in the car replied to Will. Since only Guardians could hear electronics talk with her power, the officer wouldn't be able to hear anything, making it seem normal.
"Hey Chief, you heard anything suspicious around the city? Like weird crimes that might involve some… people who aren't normal?" Will asked. "Like maybe a firebreather or a walking giant?"
"Well kid, there have been several odd robberies reported all over the area." Chief replied.
"Anything recent?" Will asked again.
"Well, uh… oh, actually I just got an emergency call over the radio! Some kind of freaky sandstorm showed up outta nowhere at Clarksman's Aircraft Manufacturing." Chief reported. "The place is supposed to be closed for today, so there shouldn't be anyone there. That fit your criteria?"
"You bet it does. Thanks, Chief." Will nodded as she made her way back to her friends, the Guardians of the group having overheard her conversation with the police radio.
"Clarksman…" Taranee looked at the map. "That's just down the road!"
"Then let's hurry and stop Drago before he does anymore damage." Jackie said as the group quickly ran down the road as fast as they could.
However, they failed to notice that they were followed to Seattle by Martin and the Nephorcers, having slipped in through the Fold to Meridian and into the second one back to Earth when they weren't looking. The four were in the alleyway the heroes had previously emerged from as they saw their friends run down the road.
"Uh… you think they'll be mad at us for following?" Rocko asked.
"Nah, cause we're gonna help them out." Charlie said.
"Yeah well… if this Thunder Demon Chi is so dangerous, we should at least be careful." Martin said. "I got a taste of that kind of stuff and it's not pretty."
"So, let's get going and help kick some butt." Frank stated as they left the alleyway and followed their friends.
Clarkston's Airfield had indeed been cleared out of any workers, allowing the Knights of Vengeance, excluding Hak Foo and Nerissa, to get what they came for as they were in a large hangar that had an airplane stored inside. StrikeMaster Ice drove a forklift while Miranda, in her human form, operated a chain-hook that lowered a jet turbine towards DJ Fist as he stood on the wing of the plane. Sandpit, Gargoyle, MC Cobra, Frost and Crimson, along with Tracker and Sniffer, appeared to be guarding the area while Drago and Raythor observed it all from a bridge near the top of the hangar.
"Your attention please." Jade's voice got their attention as the villains turned around to see the Guardians, all fully transformed, stand alongside Jackie, Uncle, Tohru, Caleb, Matt, and even Blunk, ready to face the enemy. "This flight has been grounded."
"I thought we put you dogs to sleep." StrikeMaster Ice said before unleashing an ice-breath attack, while Drago did the same with his fire breath, and Sandpit blew a sand twister in their direction, forcing the heroes to dodge and scatter.
Jackie happened to leap to a chain that was connected to the one that was tied to the turbine being lowered, which DJ Fist threw to the ground, sending Jackie straight up towards the bridge where Raythor and Drago stood together. Drago unleashed another inferno from his mouth at Jackie, but Will had quickly flown up to join Jackie and erect a barrier of her Quintessence energy to block the fire blast. She and Jackie exchanged smiles as they stood together on the bridge, ready to face the two fire-wielding adversaries.
Sandpit had shot itself toward Hay Lin, its whole body converting into a giant sand fist, but Hay Lin was quick to form a tornado around herself to block and push away Sandpit's body as it passed all around her. But Sandpit quickly reformed behind her as she dropped the tornado and extended his arms out to ensnare her with both.
Uncle took cover behind some crates to avoid Miranda as she shifted in her spider-form to shoot strands of webbing at him, but he returned fire with a series of stun blasts at Miranda, forcing her to leap onto the side of the plane and keep on her toes to keep herself from getting stunned.
Cornelia flew backwards to avoid the smash of the advancing Gargoyle before picking up a all the heavy plane parts behind her with her telekinesis. "Hey, wanna play catch?" She threw them at the large beast, pushing it backwards, straight towards Jade who readied a large shadow-lasso to ensnare Gargoyle around its ankles, causing it to trip as it stepped backwards and fall down hard on the ground.
DJ Fist leapt down with a crash on the ground as Caleb drew his katana to slice at him, which Fist blocked with his metal arm before punching Caleb to knock him down. Before he could advance much father, Matt had appeared with a chain in his hands to wrap around DJ Fist's neck as he tried to haul him back. Fist struggled a bit before reaching back to grab Matt and throw him over his shoulder.
"Ugh…" Matt groaned as he pulled himself up. "You don't talk much, do you?" He said to DJ Fist, who loomed over him and was ready to bring the hurt, but a metal plate was thrown to the back his head to get his attention. DJ Fist turned around with a growl to see it was Blunk who had thrown it, who merely waved with a terrified smile before running and screaming as DJ Fist gave pursuit. Blunk happened to run up the steps towards the open plane, going straight inside with DJ Fist following him.
"Blunk! Come on!" Caleb waved for Matt to follow him, which he did as he picked up the chain he was using and followed the young rebel into the plane.
The Tracker flailed his mace at Tohru, which the sumo caught in his hands and used his strength to pull in the Tracker before spinning around to send the Tracker flying and crashing into a series of crates. But Tohru got little chance to celebrate as Frost and Crimson charged at him, the rhino-steed slamming into Tohru from behind to send him rolling across the ground.
"Go Crimson! Charge!" Frost ordered his steed, who roared as he charged at the downed Tohru.
"Charge this!" The hunter turned to his side, his eyes widening in shock as a forklift, one that happened to be driven by the Frank as Charlie and Rocko sat behind him, rammed into Frost and Crimson before driving them into a pillar to pin them both hard with a crash.
"Hey there, Uncle Tohru!" Rocko waved.
"Boys!? What are you doing here?!" Tohru questioned.
"Helping you. Duh." Charlie pointed out.
"That's not…" Tohru's eyes widened as he saw a swarm of bats heading their way, courtesy of the angry Tracker. "Look out!" He warned the Nephorcers, who jumped off the forklift just in time and tried to avoid the swarm, only for the growling Sniffer to step in their path, and the recovered Tracker himself to advance from behind.
"Uh… nice doggy?" Rocko gulped nervously at Sniffer.
Irma and Taranee both appeared to be stuck together as they fended off the hand-to-hand assault from StrikeMaster Ice and MC Cobra respectively. Taranee coated her hands with fire to avoid getting burnt as he parried the punches and kicks that Cobra used. But when he tried to deliver a sweeping kick, she took to the air and came back down with a kick to knock Cobra back before blasting a fireball at him to blast him back even farther, though Irma had some trouble against StrikeMaster Ice who had her on the ropes with hand-to-hand before delivering a kick to her stomack to knock her back to a pillar before Ice blew some more frost at her, pinning her upper body to the pillar.
"Hmm, water and ice make a fine combo. Don't you think?" Ice said flirtatiously.
"Ew! Can you please go back to flirting with Will?" Irma cringed.
"Hey, I heard that!" Will called out as she grappled against Drago on the bridge above.
Suddenly StrikeMaster Ice was pelted by foam from a fire-extinguisher, courtesy of Martin. "Yeah, nobody likes a stalker!" He said as the foam continued to push Ice back, causing him to slip up on the foam that was on the floor and slam face-first on the ground.
"Martin!?" Irma exclaimed as she was able to wrench herself free from the ice restraints. "How in the hell did you get here?!"
"I followed you guys through that Fold-thing. Pretty cool, huh?" Martin asked.
"No! Not pretty cool! That's crazy! You can't just…" Irma quickly grabbed Martin and pulled him out of the way to avoid a stomp from the recovered Gargoyle, who continued to fend off against Jade and Cornelia as they flew around it. She flew Martin just outside the hangar and set him down. "You stay here and try not to get killed. We're gonna have a long chat later." She said before flying back in to join the fight, with Martin peeking inside to see everything going on in the hangar.
On the bridge, Will continued to try and grapple with Drago, the strength of a Guardian matching that of a half-demon as he forced her towards the end of the bridge, but Jackie came to the rescue with a flying kick that would have knocked Drago off, but he used his tail to latch onto the railing to throw himself back on top just as Raythor attacked the two, swinging his flame sword as Will flew up to avoid it, only to use her Quintessence to shield himself from Drago's fire breath while Jackie was stuck avoiding Raythor's relentless slashes from his flaming weapon. Jackie leapt back to avoid another slice, grabbing onto a nearby pole and spun himself around to slam his feet into Raythor and force him back.
"Where is Hak Foo?!" Jackie demanded.
"Making preparations." Raythor answered as he pulled himself up.
"Well, who is the sorceress that's been helping you?" Jackie questioned again.
"You'll have to figure that out on your own." Raythor sliced at the bridge itself with the fire-sword, dislodging the edge that Jackie was on and causing him to fall.
Fortunately, Will was ble to fly down to try and catch him half-way through the fall, but Drago tackled them both, causing them to fall onto the haul of the airplane. Jackie however recovered and pulled both his feet back to kick Drago onto the plane's right wing before leaping down to face him. Will was about to join her mentor, but Raythor had jumped down to block her path.
Meanwhile, DJ Fist appeared to have Blunk cornered in the plane's cockpit as the Passling crawled onto the controls and leapt to the ceiling to avoid the smashing fist from his attacker. But this smash accidentally caused the turbine attached to the right wing to turn on.
Fortunately for Blunk, Caleb and Matt came to the rescue as they jumped Fist from behind, who struggled to shake them off.
"Get his hands behind his back!" Caleb said as he and Matt tried to force their steel-coated enemy's hands backwards, which Matt attempted to tie together with the chain he brought.
"Blunk help!" The Passling leapt from the ceiling and onto DJ Fist's face to try and smother him as the two boys struggled to hold him back, being forced back into the passenger cabin. But DJ Fist was able to break through the chains that bound his hands and wrenched himself free from Matt and Caleb, knocking them both back before he grabbed Blunk and pulled him off his face and then threw him down the cabin. DJ Fist then wrenched a seat and threw it at the three, forcing them to take cover.
"That's one way to get more leg room." Matt commented.
Back outside, Jackie defended himself as best as he could from Drago's onslaught of punches, but one kick managed to land and knock Jackie off the wing and over the active turbine. The wind began to pull him in, though Jackie was able to grip onto the edges and extend his feet to the top and catch himself, his current upside-down position would only hold for so long.
"Jackie!" Will exclaimed, but that moment of shock left her open to get struck by a wave of flame from a swing of Raythor's fire-sword.
"Don't get distracted!" Raythor told her before advancing further.
Seeing how she was stuck and unable to help Jackie, Will tried to call out to her friends. "Somebody help! Jackie's in trouble!"
But everyone seemed occupied at the moment. Jade was the first to try and help Jackie, only to get slapped back by a backhand from Gargoyle, though Cornelia was quick to catch her, the giant monster wouldn't let her pass. Tohru was stuck dealing with the recovered Frost while Crimson pushed back hard on the forklift that had previously kept it pinned. The Nephorcers ran and spilt in separate directions to avoid the pursuing Tracker, Sniffer, and his swarm of bats. Hay Lin was still stuck against Sandpit. Uncle tried to run and aid his nephew, but Miranda appeared in front of him to block his way. Irma and Taranee had their hands full against StrikeMaster Ice and MC Cobra.
Although there was someone that did come to help. A hook cable, attached to a machine on the ceiling, quickly extended to catch Jackie by his belt just before he lost his grip and pulled him up to safety. He looked in surprise to see the one who helped him was none other them Martin, who gave a smile and a wave as he operated the controls. Though surprised to see him here, Jackie was nonetheless grateful as he gave a smile and an 'ok' gesture with his hand.
Hay Lin was also grateful to see Jackie was okay, but the still-active turbine gave her an idea. She saw Sandpit advancing toward her.
"Hey, I think this is your flight!" Hay Lin brought her hands together to blast a tornado that pushed up Sandpit, with the creature getting then caught the turbine's air suction and pulled right into the engine. The turbine soon exploded and broke apart, blasting away the whole right wing, getting the attention of most of the fights in the hangar, while Hay Lin had to cover her face as she couldn't help but wince at the damage she had just left.
"Oooh, maybe that was a tad overkill." However, she noticed various sand particles that had been scattered were quickly coming back together as Sandpit soon reformed its whole body to face the Air Guardian again. "Or maybe not."
Back in the plane, Caleb was on the defensive, using his katana to block the strikes from DJ Fist as Matt and Blunk were behind him. Matt noticed the emergency exit on the right side and got an idea. He quickly opened the door, causing the emergency inflatable slide to activate that led outside.
This slide just so happened to appear directly above Uncle and Miranda, the chi-wizard attempting to cast another stun spell, but the spider-girl shot a glob of webbing to ensnare Uncle's hands and blowfish, preventing him from using said spell.
"Blunk, let's go." Matt told the Passling before turning to his friend. "Caleb, follow me! I got a plan!"
Seeing how he had little advantage over his current opponent, his katana locked against DJ Fist's arms, Matt had no choice but to retreat. He kicked DJ Fist in the chest to push him back and allow him an opening to run. Matt and Blunk both slid down the inflatable slide, with Caleb right behind them.
"Ha, no more spells." Miranda gloated as she loomed closer towards the glaring Uncle. "What will you do now, wizard?"
"Okay, now what?" Caleb asked Matt who looked to see DJ Fist just about to slide down and follow them.
"Now, this!" Matt pulled away the slide, detaching it from the plane just as DJ Fist stepped out. He blinked twice in surprise before falling, straight onto Miranda, creating a large impact on the ground.
"Ouch. That gonna leave mark." Blunk winced.
Uncle used this to meet with the boys, where Caleb cut his hands free with his katana. "That is how Uncle sprays for bugs."
Drago growled as he saw how this fight seemed to be dragging on with no end in sight. He quickly made his way towards Gargoyle who still struggled against Jade and Cornelia before leaping and scaling up its body to the top of the giant's head, where he unleashed his fire breath, twirling his head in multiple directions to force the Earth and Shadow Guardians back.
"Grab the turbine and let's get out of here!" Drago ordered. Gargoyle growled affirmatively and made its way toward the turbine they were previously acquiring before the fight began. It picked it up in its only natural hand before Drago called out to his subordinates. "Knights! We are leaving!"
They all heard his call as Raythor broke off his fight with Will, DJ Fist recovered and picked up the slightly squashed and barley conscious Miranda, Tracker recalled his pets and end his pursuit of the Nephorcers, Frost pushed back Tohru and mounted Crimson to join the others.
"We outta here!" StrikeMaster Ice told MC Cobra as they ran away from Irma and Taranee and regrouped with the other Knights around Gargoyle right as Sandpit formed a vortex around the group.
"They are getting away!" Jackie said as he was lowered to the ground where the Guardians, Chan Clan, Caleb, Matt, Blunk, even Martin and the Nephorcers tried to rush the growing sand vortex and stop the villains' escape. But inside the sand twister, Drago had already used his ring to open a large Fold.
In a bright flash of light, the sand twister had vanished, along with the Knights of Venagance.
"They're gone!" Caleb exclaimed in frustration.
"Not again." Cornelia groaned.
Irma happened to look around and noticed a certain someone was missing. "Uh… where's Martin?"
Matt also found out that Martin wasn't the only one missing. "Blunk's gone."
"Frank, Charlie, and Rocko are gone too." Tohru noted.
"But where could they have…?" Will's eyes widened in shock before they all came to the same conclusion. Blunk, Martin, and the Nephorcers must have gotten into the Fold and are now wherever their enemies were now too. "Oh no."
Jackie had laid out the map of Seattle on a crate as the whole gang gathered together. "They could be anywhere in the city!" The man stated.
"No, Knights of Vengeance came to Seattle with a purpose." Uncle said. "Discover purpose, and friends' location becomes clear."
"Why though? What's so special about Seattle that the Knights would come here?" Cornelia questioned.
"They certainly didn't come for the weather." Tohru said just as a flash of lightning and a sound of thunder came from the cloudy sky outside. But it was that flash of lightning and sound of thunder that drew Taranee's attention.
"What if they did?" The Fire Guardian guessed.
"Taranee?" Hay Lin asked.
"Remember what happened back at the steel mill? Hak Foo got super charged when he was zapped by lightning." Taranee recalled.
"Duh, Thunder Demon Chi." Jade pointed out. "Seattle gets a lot of storms too, so…"
"So, the Knights' new lair would have to be a place where they can easily access this city's frequent thunderstorms." Caleb said in realization.
"It would have to be someplace tall then." Matt said. "The taller you are, the more likely you are to get struck by lightning."
"That narrows down our search considerably." Will said as she looked at the map. "What is the tallest building in Seattle?"
"Well, there's Colombia Center, Rainer Square Tower or…" Taranee listed before they all came to the same conclusion.
"The Seattle Space Needle!" Jackie, Matt, and all the girls said simultaneously.
"Then let's go!" Irma stated. "We need to find Martin and everyone else before Drago cooks them Cajun style. Cause I wanna drown them myself for doing something so stupid!"
Just as a Fold opened at the inside of the Space Needle, allowing the Knights to return to their new lair after a quick pitstop in Meridian; Martin, Blunk, and the Nephorcers were quick to hide and avoid detection, hiding behind a massive speaker before looking out the window of their newfound location.
"We way high up." Blunk pointed out.
"We're in the Space Needle!" Martin said as they all took a moment to observe the enemy's new base. It seemed like the furthest thing from a super villain lair.
There was a roller coaster that rounded the whole inner perimeter with an active car moving down the track, a massive TV set at the center with a lounge of coaches, various speakers scattered throughout that played rock music, a large swimming pool, they even saw DJ Fist instruct Gargoyle to put the stolen jet turbine in a pedestal where the fan was pointing upward.
"This is what all those crazy robberies were about." Frank said.
"Huh, for an evil super villain hideout, this place rocks." Charlie said with a grin.
"This place is a waste of time." They overheard Frost's voice as they looked to see him, Raythor, and Miranda speaking with Drago. "It's not a base, it's a playground!"
"Lighten up, Frost." Drago told him.
"Well, what do you call that?" Miranda pointed to the jet turbine where DJ Fist flipped a switch to turn up before leaping up into the resulting wind to hover in place.
"Okay, maybe it is a playground, but it's not causing anyone harm." Drago said. "It's not interfering in our plans, so it's fine."
"Our new base does seem to hold a strategic advantage." Raythor put his word in. "From our vantage point, we can see our enemies approaching a mile away so they would lack the element of surprise. And there is apparently an advantage in combat training?" He gestured to StrikeMaster Ice and MC Cobra as they piloted thirty-foot tall mechs designed after some familiar robots and spared with each other.
"Whoa, life-size Robo-Merks." Rocko commented with a wide smile.
"Hey, they even built the red boss!" Charlie pointed towards an unused red robot of similar design to the blue and green ones that Ice and Cobra piloted respectively.
Cobra's robot had knocked Ice's down and had it pinned. "Rule number one: there are no rules." Ice said before he opened up the cockpit in the robot's chest and blew his frosty breath all over the green one, pushing MC Cobra back.
"Ugh! Dude! You are seriously whack!" Cobra complained as he used his robot's arms to brush off the snow and ice.
"Word." Ice smirked.
"Would you call that combat training, Raythor?" Frost questioned his second-in-command. "Or just playing?"
"Beggars can't be choosers, it seems." Raythor himself with lowered eyelids.
"That's quite enough, everyone."
A familiar voice spoke through the speakers that surrounded the whole lair, directing everyone's attention as the music stopped and they all turned towards a platform and a console at the far end of the room, where Nerissa and Hak Foo were waiting.
"Play time is over. Come and join us." Nerissa instructed through the intercom, prompting all the Knights to make their way over to their benefactor.
"Who is the old lady?" Frank asked.
"Maybe one of their grandmas?" Rocko guessed.
"Blunk recognize old lady. Same sorceress who help Hak Foo at last battle." Blunk revealed.
"Sounds like they're planning something big." Charlie observed.
"Let's go check it out." Martin suggested as the five of them made their way to the platform once they saw the Knights were all gathered there, with he exception being Gargoyle who was on the left side and Crimson just beside its legs. The four boys and the Passling were quick and quiet enough as they stuck to the wall of the right side of the circular lair, hiding behind the struts of the roller coaster before making their way underneath the platform.
However, nobody seemed to notice Sniffer picking up an odd scent and growled slightly.
Once they were underneath the platform, Martin dialed Irma's number on his phone and spoke as quietly as he could. "Irma, are you there?"
"Martin? Where are you!? Are you okay?!" She asked urgently.
"Yeah. Frank, Blunk, and everyone else and I are at the Space Needle." Martin whispered.
"We know. We figured out where they are, we're on our way." Irma replied.
"Listen, we're directly underneath the bad guys. I'm gonna put you on speaker so you can hear their plan." Martin said as he put his phone on speaker and held it up just as the villains began to converse.
"The storm is almost here." Nerissa said as the Knights observed on the large monitor the approaching storm.
"Is the lightning rod secure?" Drago asked.
"Just about. A few minor adjustments, but we should be all set." Nerissa answered.
"I can already feel it." The Thunder Demon empowered Hak Foo lulled as he reached towards the screen, static at his finger tips. "The power of the gods will soon be mine… I'll be able to level entire cities… and nobody would dare to oppose me!"
"Us." Raythor corrected. "Do not forget where you stand, Hak Foo. You are still sworn to the Knights of Vengeance." He warned. Even as Hak Foo loomed over him with his imposing figure and glowing red eyes, Raythor stood his ground as he gripped the handle on his sword.
"Keep in line, Foo." Drago pulled him back by his shoulder. "Don't forget, I gave you your power. I can take it away."
"Perhaps it would be best to save that hostility towards our enemies." Nerissa suggested. "They're smart enough to figure out our plan and should be here by the time the storm arrives."
"Let them come." Hak Foo replied. "It will give me great pleasure to extinguish their lives with my newfound power!" He declared as both his fists surged with lightning.
"Indeed. Drago, take Hak Foo and make sure everything is ready on the roof." Nerissa instructed. "The rest of you, give our incoming guests a pleasant welcome."
"And just what are you gonna do, granny?" Ice questioned, leaning back against a railing.
"I have my own pressing matters to attend to." Nerissa answered before opening a Fold for herself. "I will see you soon." She said before leaving, the Fold vanishing soon after.
"You heard the lady. Time for Seattle's biggest and last lightshow." Drago said as he and Hak Foo made their way to the elevator at the center of the room and rode it up to the roof. But just as they left, Tracker noticed his pet hound clawing and growling at the floor of the platform. Tracker himself gave a growl to draw the attention of the other Knights as well.
Martin took his phone off speaker and whispered into it again. "Irma, did you get all that?"
"Yeah, we heard." She replied. "We just arrived, we're right outside the building now."
"Good, cause…" Martin and everyone else gasped as they saw the platform being torn up from above, revealing the presence to the glaring Knights. "Cause we're busted!" They ran with screams to avoid the ice, fire, and lava attacks from the villains.
The boys and Passling's screams were the last thing the heroes heard from Irma's phone on speaker mode before they lost contact.
"They're in trouble!" Irma said urgently.
"Well, they're not gonna be the only ones!" Will stated as Guardians, Chan Clan, Matt, and Caleb had all arrived at the Space Needle, standing within the fenced perimeter as the rain picked up, coming down harder and the lightning and thunder flashed brighter and louder.
"If Hak Foo absorbs the storm's power, kiss Seattle goodbye!" Taranee exclaimed.
"Then we'll split up!" Jackie declared. "Will, Jade, you fly Uncle and I straight up to the roof! We'll deal with Drago and Hak Foo, while the rest of you get inside and help the boys!"
"We're on it." Cornelia nodded with everyone else.
Will and Jade grabbed a hold of Uncle and Jackie respectively and flew straight up, while Hay Lin did the same for Matt, Cornelia picked up Caleb, Taranee and Irma both picked up Tohru and ascended as well.
On the roof of the Space Needle, Hak Foo stood in the middle of the lightning rod, connected to various wires and cables that all connected to a breaker box at the base of the rod while Drago made final adjustments, the storm intensifying as the wind blew harder and the rain poured down more. He happened to turn around in time as Will and Jade arrived, carrying Uncle and Jackie before setting them down.
"We're pulling you guys' plug!" Jade declared.
"Too late, the storm's just about here!" Drago snarled.
"And it's time to die. Set Throws Thunderbal!" Hak Foo threw an electric sphere at the quartet while Drago added to it with his fire-breath, forcing them to separate.
"Girls, Uncle needs a distraction in order to cast the removal spell!" Jackie shouted to Will and Jade. "I will handle Drago!"
"Got it. We'll take care of Foo!" Will said as she and Jade exchanged nods and flew at their enemy, who threw out his hands to shoot streams of thunderbolts at both of them, while Jade erected a sphere of shadow magic around herself and spirit sister to absorb and negate the lightning. When the attack ended, Jade threw down her barrier, allowing Will to blast Hak Foo with a beam of pink energy, which almost blew him off the rod, but he held himself firm.
Drago punched at Jackie, which he blocked by crossing his arms before delivering a kick, which Drago blocked with a chop of his hand before grabbing Jackie by that same foot and hauled him over to slam him to the ground. Drago then noticed Uncle making his way closer to Hak Foo with a blowfish in one hand, and a Chi-Omatic the other.
"Oh no you don't!" Drago was about to let loose his fire breath again, but Jackie swept his feet, tripping up Drago and causing him to miss. Though the fire breath did land and explode in front of Uncle, which almost sent him flying off the edge.
Fortunately, Jackie was quick to rush and slide on the wet surface to grab his uncle just before he fell, with Jackie grabbing onto a nearby pole to avoid falling himself. Uncle gasped as he saw how high he truly was.
"This is why Uncle's shop on ground floor!"
Back inside, Matt, Blunk, and the Nephorcers were backed against the wall as they were cornered by the Knights of Vengeance, all of whom had sinister intentions for them.
"Poor choice coming here alone." Raythor had his fire-sword drawn. "Surrender and no harm will come to you."
"Speak for yourself, old man. I'm in the mood to throw down." StrikeMaster Ice replied.
DJ Fist tapped on Raythor's shoulder, having noticed something and pointed out towards the window to see a large fist made out of water about to smash into the window, which it did. This gave Blunk and the boys a chance to get away, forcing the Knights back from the giant water fist that Irma had conjured from the intense rain outside as she and Taranee were the first to enter with Tohru, followed by Cornelia and Caleb, along with Hay Lin and Matt.
"Nothing like a nice fire to warm up a rainy day." Taranee said before throwing a large fireball at the feet of the Knights and used her powers to quickly expand the flames and create a literal firewall to separate the heroes and villains for the moment, a reflection of fire appearing in her glasses no less.
"Martin, what were you and everyone else thinking coming here?!" Irma scolded her friend and the others.
"Yeah… might have bitten off more than we can chew." Martin winced.
"Hey, yell later! Survive now!" Matt got their attention back to the matter at hand as StrikeMaster Ice used his own namesake powers to extinguish the firewall.
"You five go find somewhere to hide. We'll handle this!" Tohru told the boys.
"Yes. Hide. Safe. Blunk agree." Blunk nodded eagerly as they made a run for it, leaving the heroes to face off against the Knights of Vengeance in a physical and elemental clash. The five of them seemed to be hiding behind what they thought were metal pillars as they saw the battles unfolding in front of them.
"Maybe coming here wasn't such a hot idea after all." Martin said.
"Yeah, kinda outta our league here." Charlie agreed.
Rocko looked up to see what exactly it was that they were hiding behind. "Uh… maybe we can go for the big leagues then?"
Frank and the others saw what Rocko was referring to and smirked. "Sounds like a plan to me."
Raythor ran with his fire sword directly at Irma, who blasted a column of water to extinguish the flames and push him back. Only to get caught in a bearhug by DJ Fist. "Hey, watch where you're grabbing!" Irma exclaimed as she coated herself in water, making her body slippery enough to fly up and escape from DJ Fist's metal grip before pulling all that water from her body and throwing at DJ Fist in the form of a water ball to knock him back.
The Tracker unleashed a swarm of bats at Caleb from his robe, the young soldier using his katana to try and cut his way through, but this served as a good enough distraction for Sniffer to bite down on Caleb's sword arm and pull him down. His jacket protected him for the most part, but the teeth still sunk in, causing Caleb to grown in pain as he was pinned, with the Tracker advancing on him.
"Hey, hands off!" Cornelia quickly flew in with a flying kick to knock the Tracker back before grabbing Sniffer by his tail and pulling him off Caleb. "Bad dog!" She threw him away as Caleb pulled himself up.
"Thanks." Caleb smiled.
"Don't mention it." Cornelia smiled back before they were blasted by a cluster of sand launched by Sandpit.
Tohru grappled with Frost as they both pressed their immense strength against one another. Tohru happened to push Frost against the wall, but when he looked past his opponent, Tohru noticed in the reflection of the window a charging Crimson. Tohru angled himself to spin Frost around just in time and allow the rhino to strike his owner. But Tohru's victory was short lived as MC Cobra threw a lava ball at his feet, blasting him down.
"Yo, up for a game of hot potato?" MC Cobra chuckled as he threw another lava ball at Tohru, who rolled out of the way just in time.
Taranee and Hay Lin combined their powers to create a flaming tornado to try and trap Gargoyle, but their efforts were quickly halted as Miranda encased them both in webbing from behind, and StrikeMaster Ice added to it by freezing the webs and thoroughly trapping the two Guardians.
"Ah, now this is a present. All nice and wrapped tightly." Ice grinned.
"Shall we make it more excoriating for them?" Miranda sneered.
"How about you get a taste of this instead?" Matt came with a kick at Ice's back to knock him into Miranda, sending them rolling back. This allowed Taranee to use her fire powers and break away the frozen webs that bound her and Hay Lin.
"Thanks, Matt." Hay Lin thanked.
"Don't thank me yet." He replied as the flaming tornado they had previously conjured to trap Gargoyle had been broken apart, with the giant stepping through and advancing toward the three.
They, along with Tohru, Cornelia, Irma, and Caleb were all backed against the wall as the Knights of Vengeance regrouped and had them cornered, Gargoyle looming over them as it raised its club hand to try and smash.
"Hey, pick on somebody your own size!" Gargoyle turned around just in time to see a robotic fist slug it in the face and push it back. The heroes and villains all looked in surprise to see the attack came from Frank, who piloted the blue Robo-Merks mech, while Charlie did the same for the green one, and Rocko operated the red one.
"Who's up for some Robo-Merks!?" Charlie challenged.
"Charge!" Rocko gave a battle cry as all three charged and tackled Gargoyle all the way to the other side of the lair, much to the wide-eyed shock of everyone present.
"Hey, those are our Robo-Merks!" MC Cobra exclaimed.
"Uh… what just happened?" Caleb questioned.
"Where the heck did they get mech suits?!" Irma also questioned.
"I don't know, but I'm not complaining" Matt replied. "It evens the odds a bit."
"Yeah… it really does." Cornelia smirked as the heroes once again squared off against their enemies, their chances of winning having gone up. "Ready for round two?"
Back outside, Jackie had managed to pull Uncle back up to the rooftop. Drago was about to blast him again with his fire breath, but shadow ball struck him in the face to halt his attack. He looked up with a glare towards Jade as she bounced another ball of shadow fire in her hand.
"Didn't anyone tell you that smoking is bad for your health?" Jade smirked.
"Yeah. Yours!" Drago was about to attack Jade, but he was quickly dealt a kick by Jackie to knock him back.
"Fists of Tchang Zu!" Hak Foo threw out multiple electrically charged punches to Will, which she tried to block and parry as she covered her arms in Quintessence energy to shield herself. After parrying another punch, Will dealt an airborne roundhouse kick to Hak Foo's face and nearly pushed him out of the lightning rod, but he grabbed the handles and charged his body with lightning once more. "Aura of the Gods!" Hak Foo encompassed his whole body in a sphere of electricity, which he quickly expanded to blast an electrical wave to blast Will back up toward the sky, where she noticed the lightning flashing closer and more rapidly.
"The storm's here! It's now or never!" Will shouted.
Jade threw out her hands as she flew closer toward Hak Foo, creating massive, clawed hands made from shadow-magic. Hak Foo attempted to blast them away, but the shadows absorbed the lightning before closing in to grasp Hak Foo, rendering him unable to attack for the moment.
"UNCLE! DO IT NOW!" Jade yelled.
The elderly chi-wizard was close enough as he aimed his blowfish and recited the chant. "Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao! Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao! Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao!" Uncle casted the removal spell from the blowfish, blasting Hak Foo with green energy just as Jade released her grip. A dark blue aura formed around Hak Foo before it all went out of his mouth, depriving him of the Thunder Demon Chi and turning him back to his green-scaled self as he still held a portion of Drago's own chi.
"No! Not now!" Hak Foo exclaimed in horror just as the lightning struck the rod. The electricity traveled down and electrocuted him, causing Hak Foo to scream as his body flashed, showing a brief image of his skeleton. Will and Jade both covered their eyes from the bright light. When it all subsided, Hak Foo was still alive, but his body was smoking, and his eyes were dazed. He fell off the rod and face-flat on the wet ground.
"Ouch." Will winced.
"I do not wanna be him in the morning." Jade added.
Uncle held the Chi-Omatic as it sucked in the Thunder Demon Chi completely. Looking into the glass container, Uncle saw a dark transparent image of the castanets, revealing that they had successfully contained the dark power.
Back inside, Frank in the blue robot ducked under Gargoyle's swing before kicking at his legs to push him back. Charlie then pressed forward in the green robot punching Gargoyle rapidly in the chest, only to get smacked away by the club hand. Rocko then charged in the red robot on Gargoyle's left side and pushed harder, the giant stomping its feet to halt the push before grabbing the red robot with its normal arm and throwing it away. The stone giant was then tackled by Frank and Charlie's robots from behind to bring it down.
Hay Lin blasted a tornado at Sandpit to blow the sentient pile of sand away, though its body was quick to reform and slap Hay Lin away with a whip of sand, which knocked her into Taranee as MC Cobra advanced towards her.
"Hey, you guys up for a swim?" Irma hovered over the pool as she directed the water and sent it all splashing over Sandpit and MC Cobra, creating a large cloud of steam upon contact with the latter's lava skin.
"Dude, that is so not cool!" MC Cobra covered himself while Sandpit's body began to solidify into a more solid mud.
"Our turn!" Hay Lin had conjured a ball of wind in her hand, the air spinning so intensely that they were like blades. She flew forward and smashed the band into the muddy Sandpit to send him flying while Taranee did the same with a point-blank blast of flame into MC Cobra's face.
DJ Fist pried a car from the roller coaster and threw it at Cornelia, only for the blonde to catch it with her telekinesis and toss it right back at him. "Back at ya!" She snarked as the car smashed into DJ Fist and into the ground. But she didn't seem to notice Miranda climbing up on one of the speakers to web her from behind, but Blunk did. The Passling turning the dial on the receiver connecting to the speakers, turning it on the music up to max volume. The intense sound caused Miranda to scream as the vibrations of the device threw her off and to the ground.
"Spider girl no like music. But Blunk love loud music." The Passling blew raspberries at the downed shapeshifter.
StrikeMaster Ice kicked Caleb back towards Matt, the two coming back-to-back as the other young man faced Tracker and the Sniffer. Matt gestured to Caleb and to StrikeMaster Ice, giving Caleb the message as he nodded in response before switching places.
"Hey Ice, gotta ask? Where'd you come up with the lame name?" Matt snarked. "It sounds like a brand of mints. Oh, and most guys who wanna change their names are secretly mama's boy. So you wanna go crying home to mommy cause you're gonna loose?"
That really irked StrikeMaster Ice. "Bro, you bout to get the worst cold shoulder of your life!" He let loose a frosty breath attack, with Matt and Caleb both ducking and letting the attack hit the surprised Tracker and Sniffer, freezing them both in their tracks, much to Ice's shock. "Uh…" He then gulped as he saw Matt and Caleb approach him, the former cracking his knuckles while the later held his katana. "Parley?"
Tohru grappled against the charging Crimson, while Frost rode on top. Though Tohru was able to halt Crimson's charge, Frost was free to land a punch on Tohru's face to send him rolling to the ground.
"Hey, Tohru!" He heard Matt call to him as he pushed himself up, the teenage boy standing by a certain switch on the wall. "Get him to smash into that turbine!" He pointed to the stolen airplane turbine that had been used like a hover-fan.
The sumo nodded as he positioned himself in-between his mounted enemy and the piece of machinery. He took a sumo like stance as he stomped his foot on the ground challengingly, narrowing his eyes at Frost, who growled in response.
"Run him down!" Frost ordered Crimson, the rhino-like steed roaring as it charged once again. Tohru slowly backed himself closer and closer to the turbine, he had to time this just right for it to work. Right when it looked like Crimson was about to close the distance, Tohru rolled to the side, with Frost unable to pull on Crimson's reigns as the rhino-like steed slammed into the turbine, it's horn breaking through the metal and into the machine.
Martin wasted no time in flicking the switch and turning the machine on. The damaged turbine activated, the blades inside spun and rotated briefly before the machine caught fire and then exploded, sending Crimson and Frost flying backwards and crashing across the ground.
"Ah yeah!" Martin cheered, only to yelp as a fire sword was slashed at him, knocking him to the ground as an angry Raythor approached him.
"That was a mistake, boy." He warned as he tried to bring his blade down again, only for Irma to quickly appear in-between them and raise a water bubble to block the sword and extinguish the flames.
"And here's your mistake! Messing with my nerd!" She exploded the water bubble to push him back and followed through with a punch to the face to knock him down.
"So… I'm your nerd?" Martin asked, sounding flattered as he blushed a bit.
"Don't try anything!" Irma pointed at him. "I'm still mad at you, so expect a chewing out when this is over!"
"I deserve it." Martin replied with dejected acceptance.
Gargoyle tried to bring its club arm down on Rocko's red robot, he was able to catch it with both of his robot's arms, but Gargoyle seemed stronger as he pressed down, forcing the red robot to its knees. "Guys! A little help, here?!"
"No worries, man! We got em right where we want him!" Charlie said as he positioned the green robot directly behind Gargoyle with the wall being directly behind him.
"Hey big guy!" Frank charged in the blue robot straight towards Gargoyle. "Have a nice trip!" The blue robot jumped and dealt a flying kick, one that mirrored Jackie's, landing a solid blow on Gargoyle to push it away from Rocko and back towards Charlie, who ducked with the green robot and swept his feet to trip up and over himself, sending Gargoyle crashing through the wall and out of the top of the space needle.
The monster gave a roar of distress as it fell from the top of the tower and all the way down to the hard and unforgiving ground, crashing and leaving a crater upon impact. It was a miracle the beast was still in one piece after that.
The crash had drawn the attention of Will, Jackie, Uncle, and Jade as they looked over to the side of the Space Needle's roof in surprise to see that Gargoyle had fallen. Drago used this as an opportunity to grab the unconscious Hak Foo and make a jump off the ledge of the roof himself, grabbing onto a nearby pole that bent under his and Hak Foo's combined weight.
Once he was in the best position, Drago unleashed his fire breath into a nearby window and leapt from the bent pole with Hak Foo into the devastated lair where the remaining Knights were cornered.
Drago let loose his fire breath in all directions to briefly distract the heroes and allow the Knights some breathing room. "It's time to leave!" Drago used his ring to open another Fold. He tossed Hak Foo in first before the rest of the Knights entered the Fold, which Drago quickly closed. He saw the four Guardians and their friends were about to move in and capture him, but Drago jumped back out through the hole and outside again.
The young half-demon fell for some time before digging his claws into the side of the building, slowing his descent until he reached closer towards the bottom. Once he saw he was at a reasonable distance from the ground, Drago let go and let himself land onto Gargoyle, who laid unresponsive in its crater.
Glancing up slightly, Drago saw that all six Guardians were quickly flying down to try and stop him from getting away, but it was too late. Using his ring once again, Drago opened another Fold directly underneath Gargoyle, allowing it and Drago himself to fall in. By the time J-WITCH had reached the ground, the Fold had closed, and Drago was gone, causing the six girls to look serious.
"Ow!"
"Ow!"
"Ow!"
"Ow!"
"Ow!"
Martin, the Nephorcers, and even Blunk all rubbed their foreheads where Uncle dope slapped each of them, all of the heroes standing outside the Space Needle as the storm finally ended, revealing the bright and sunny sky.
"Why Blunk get slapped? Blunk no do wrong. Came to city with Guardians like friends say." Blunk said.
"That is for rushing into enemy lair without plan!" Uncle chastised the Passling before moving onto the four boys. "And you! You were told mission was too dangerous! You came and put yourselves in danger!"
"Yeah… we did. Sorry." Martin apologized, while Irma looked in a mixture of disappointment and relief, at least glad that he was alright.
"But… we also learned the bad guys' plan and told all you guys, right?" Frank asked.
"Yes, yes you did." Jackie admitted with a slight sigh. "Thank you for that, but you cannot do this again."
"Sorry just… wanted to help you guys." Charlie said.
"And to be cool heroes like our uncles." Rocko added.
"There are other ways you guys can help that don't involve jumping head long into a fight without even thinking." Taranee said.
"And your uncles would not be pleased with us if you were hurt under our watch." Tohru added.
"Maybe this might be my fault too." Jade admitted to everyone. "I kinda gave them the subtle message to… ya know…?"
"Pull a Jade?" Cornelia asked with lowered eyelids.
"Yep." Jade herself confirmed and got a dope-slap from Uncle. "Ow! Okay, I deserve that."
"Well, on the bright side… we got the Thunder Demon Chi!" Hay Lin said for the sake of optimism.
"Yes, we did." Matt agreed. "And I think the Knights will be out of it for a while after the beatdown we gave them, especially Gargoyle."
"Exactly. So, I'm still calling this a win!" Hay Lin beamed.
"That sorceress is still out there though." Caleb pointed out.
"Did you guys at least hear her name or something?" Irma asked Martin and the Nephorcers.
"Nope, sorry." Martin shook his head.
"Well, we have six Demon Powers down, and two to go." Will said. "And maybe Alchemy can have that locator spell back up and running soon. Next time, we'll track down Drago and his pals, and catch them for sure."
Meanwhile, in a cave within the most remote spot in Meridian, Nerissa sat in a small cavern as she had two crystal balls and a plate laid out in front of her. In one crystal ball was the essence of Jade's breath, the other carried flashing images of Jade's memories throughout her life, while the plate remained empty for the moment.
Her attention was turned toward the entrance of her personal cavern as Drago stepped in with an exhausted expression and sat across from his mother.
"Rough day?" She asked.
"You have no idea." Drago rubbed his hand down his face. "Chan and the others got the Thunder Demon Chi and the Knights are gonna be out of commission for a while, especially Hak Foo and Gargoyle. That thing fell off the top of the space needle, I'm honestly surprised it's still alive after that."
"When I infused my power with it to grant it that one prosthetic hand, I also took the liberty of hardening its stone-like body even further." Nerissa informed. "Though it's not indestructible, it will take a great deal of raw power to damage it."
"You think of everything, don't ya?" Drago asked.
"I try." Nerissa smiled.
"Well, you thought about that locator spell?" Her son asked. "You told me how they were able to make the first batch. And since they got Dad locked up in their dungeon, what's to stop them from just whipping up another one?"
"I imagine they would try so, although it will take them a great deal of time to find us." Nerissa informed. "We are at least thirty miles away from the castle. And the spell does have one little flaw. It will only be active if you are in the same realm as the spell in question. So if they are in Meridian for instance, and you are on Earth, it won't work. At least not until they get to Earth itself."
"Can't you do something about that?" Drago asked one again.
"I can, but right now… I need to focus my attention on our true plans." Nerissa revealed. "And I need your help, my son."
Drago grinned. "You got something planned for Jade, then?"
Nerissa cackled slightly as she gestured to the setting in front of her. "Her spirit from her breath, which I acquired from her birthday party. Her memories for her mind, which I was able to copy while we invaded their dreams. And finally…" She put some stands of black hair into the empty plate. "The hair that you took from her during our scuffle at the steel mill, all for her body."
"Isn't this that Ceremony of Amalgamation?" Drago wondered. "The one Phobos used to try and get Elyon into Meridian? How's that gonna help us now."
"It can be used for other means, just as long as the one using it has a more creative mind." Nerissa answered. "We'll also be adding an additional and more… unique ingredient." She pulled out a familiar walking stick. "The relic you acquired from the Ben-Shui temple, the one that contains the chi from one of her past lives." She placed the stick in the middle of the three other ingredients. "I believe it's time to conduct a little… experiment."
Done.
Wow, this chapter was a lot longer than what I thought it was going to be. That was probably due to the vast number of characters that were all in this chapter, not to mention having three pretty big battles in the beginning, middle, and end.
But that was still one action-packed chapter. Martin and even the Nephorcers were able to lend a hand here. We had quite the battle, but the heroes were able to successfully acquire the Thunder Demon Chi, with only two more batches remaining and I have special plans for them.
However… Nerissa has something cooking, something involving Jade. The next chapter is going to be very unique as I'll take my own spin on it and it won't follow quite like canon due to the circumstances of this story. But it's going to be something else and I'm very much looking forward to writing it.
Until then, stay safe and stay healthy out there.
