Summer vacation has arrived everyone is stepping on to the bullheads to head home and enjoy summer…well except me and a few others. After all can't really go home to a family when you have neither.
"Hey kai! Why are you still here? The bullheads are leaving soon!" yang yelled.
"I don't have a home..nor a family. So i'll be spending summer here with amber and team jade. As we all don't have families either." i said. Ruby and yang looked to the ground sad before ruby got an idea.
"How about you spend summer with us? Mom and dad would love to see you." ruby said. Yang nodded at the idea. I shrugged.
"Not like I have any other plans…sure." i said. Amber came along as well after a chat with the head master. Seemed like ruby and yang's home was fairly out of the way on an island called patch. No one would expect a maiden to be here. And if even trouble came knocking…i'm certain we could handle it. After all we had a walking tank with the firepower of one in the form of professor omega not to mention the whole way ruby kept going on and on about how awesome her mother is. So if she's anything close to what ruby talks about…we'll be fine.
And this after a walk through patch. Where everyone seems to know ruby's cute face. We arrived at the xiao long cabin. And i met their parents. Taiyang xiao long and summer rose. And I certainly saw where they got their personalities from. Though when I introduced myself they acted like they saw a ghost.
"Something wrong?" i asked.
"Sorry…we knew a woman named kairudo as well…kairudo sanda? Do you know her?" summer asked. The name sounds familiar…but my head hurts when i try to remember.
"It sounds familiar…but the only kairudo i know is myself. Was she a friend of yours?" i asked.
"She was more than that…she saved summer's life." taiyang revealed ruby and yang had shocked looks on their faces…clearly they were never told this story.
3rd person pov/flashback
After dealing with a grimm. Summer tried to get home. Only to be jumped by assassins. She fought but they wouldn't stay down. Summer excelled in killing grimm but was hesitant on taking the life of a human. This weakness almost caused her life.
"Why are you doing this?" she asked the assassins.
"Our mistress can't allow the existence of the silver eyes. Now die." the assassin said as she raised her dagger. Summer closed her eyes thinking this is the end.
"Ruby…yang…taiyang…i'm sorry." summer thought, thinking this was the end. The sound of blood being shed soon came…but it wasn't hers. She opened her eyes to see her assassins cut in two. She looked over and saw the one responsible. Snapping the neck of the final one. The warrior approached her and pulled her up.
"I saw your fight…you hesitated…you shouldn't…if it's hostile you kill it. Doesn't matter what it is. These people foolishly serve the dark woman, were they the kind that was unaware that they were bringing about their own destruction by serving her? Or are they aware and just too psychotic and loyal to her…doesn't matter." the warrior said. Summer was surprised. This warrior knew about salem?
"H-how do you know about her? Are you a huntress?" summer asked.
"I am…but from somewhere far far away. The name is kairudo sanda. And i bid you farewell my lady." kairudo said before taking a bow. And began to walk away.
"Wait! You saved my life. I want to thank you…do you like cookies?" summer asked. Sanda sighed.
"Curse you sweet tooth." sanda said. As she followed summer. This was the start of a beautiful friendship.
Kairudo pov.
"She certainly sounds like the kai we know." yang said.
"Maybe she's your mom?" ruby asked.
"Maybe…" i said. Was sanda my mother?...it's one of many possibilities. Anyway the summer at the xiao long cabin was fun. The family was colorful to say the least. And besides the ocassonial beowulf swarm it was fairly peaceful. Swimming in the lake viewing the beauty of the forest. It was relaxing…this summer was fun. Two months into the summer vacation. After a day of riding with yang on her bike. Which made me consider getting my own. I had a strange dream.
I was in a rainstorm. In the distance i saw buildings with lightning absorbing devices on top…something about this place felt nostalgic…
"Like home right?" someone behind me asked. I turned around and saw kairudo sanda. I know what she looks like thanks to photos of her that the rose/xiao long family kept. "Because this is home…for us. I wanted to correct something. I'm not your mother…I'm you. You're my reincarnation." sanda said she then put her hand on my head…and I remembered how i died. It was around bokuns rise to power. I was one of the first he killed and soul he trapped within that accursed relic. I was confident that i could win. I promised summer qrow raven and tai yang that i would be back in no time…how wrong i was. I died. And my soul became the first giving bokun inhuman strength. But one day i was freed along side all the others by the wielder of the armageddon blade…blaze inferno tachinowarui…was my last name made the way it was to honor the man who allowed me to be reborn? "You remember now?" sanda asked.
"Yeah…thanks my old self." i said. Soon i woke up to the rising sun…do i tell taiyang and summer?...nah. They most likely believe me anyway…still the least i can do for my old friends was to watch out for their kids.
"Kai! Your awake! Come on! Mom is making cookies!" ruby yelled as she ran down the stairs. I sighed and smiled.
"Curse my sweet tooth." i said as i got up and got ready to enjoy the last month of summer before heading back to beacon.
