Second chapter yay! I got a huge writer's block with this story, mostly because I had a very specific idea in mind and then it changed, and I don't like change but I sort of had to go with the flow and this is what came out lol! I hope you'll like it!

For the next few days, Poseidon rested as his wife ordered him. She had made it clear that they could handle it out there and they would be relieved when he returned feeling better. But Poseidon was quite stubborn, and now he was bored out of his mind.

At least, Benthesykime and Rhode would bring him company before he could try to reach for the door of their private chamber. "Here, we're bringing you your favorite meal, Papa."

Poseidon smiled as he took the plate Rhode handed him. Thank you girls. I appreciate it." He says as he prepares to eat. "Apollo also changed your medicine, you have to take it three times a day during every meal," Benthesykime added. He nodded, unscrewing the vial and taking it in.

His wound was feeling a lot better. It wasn't nearly as infected as it had been when Kymopoleia had found him. But it still hurt considerably and the Healers had to change the bandage every three hours.

"Apollo?" Poseidon asked. Benthesykime pursed her lips. "Yes, Mom told him about the incident because she wanted to make sure you get the best care possible. "Does anybody else know?"

Rhode shook her head. "No. I think she only told him." He nodded, taking a bite of his plate. "Good." He taps the plate. He tries to not think too much about the War, but he can't help it.

"How is Triton handling the council, he didn't come to make his report yesterday-"

Rhode interrupted him before he could finish his sentence."Papa! Try to relax, everything is fine. He can handle it. He's well respected and Delphin is always by his side along with Mom." Poseidon lifted his hands claiming defeat. "I'm sorry, I can't help but feel useless here if something were to happen to them."

Bentheyskime sighed and came to sit beside him and she rubbed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "You're not useless, it's okay to take a break sometimes Papa." Rhode smiled softly at him as she also went to sit in front of him. "Yeah, you've always been there for everyone, but now it's time we take care of you."

He smiled at them. Kissing Benthesykime hand softly. He was happy to be able to spend more time with them especially because they visited less frequently now that they were married.

He couldn't shake off the feeling that something bigger was coming. And while Triton and Amphitrite were powerful in their own ways, he knew deep down that they would need his help. They wouldn't stand a chance against him.

He relished Benthesykime and Rhode's chatter as he finished his meal. And then they each gave him a cuddle goodbye before their next round. He fell asleep not long after they left.

He didn't sleep very well though, his mind was filled with the harsh memories of his time inside his father's stomach. He remembers the fear, the darkness, and Hestia holding him as a child as he screamed in terror.

He turned and moved as if he tried to escape his captivity, as he climbed restlessly to try and see the light again. He turned and moved as if he were trying to escape his captivity. He then felt a gentle hand trying to pull him back towards reality.

He wakes up startled and looks around to make sure he's out. His sea-green eyes land on those of his wife. Smiling sadly at him. "It's okay my love, you're safe." She tried to reassure him, rubbing a gentle loving hand on his back.

Amphitrite smiled at him softly. She leaned in to hug him. He reciprocated the hug, holding onto her tightly.

"Was it Kronos again?" She asked. Amphitrite knew everything about him. Including his struggle with nightmares. Poseidon hated that he acted so vulnerable sometimes. He was the Sea God, he was the King of Atlantis, but here he was weakened by nightmares. He couldn't control his own mind.

"I'm sorry for waking you up." The sea god looks around the nest, and he can see the figures of their children sleeping soundly. He rubs a hand over his now sweaty face.

"It's okay Po. I wasn't sleeping well anyway." She whispered as she rubbed his tense shoulder. "Do you want to talk about it?" He shook his head, too prideful to ask for help. "No, it's okay, I can handle it."

She smiled softly at him knowing how much he was struggling. Amphitrite leaned down taking his shaking form into a comforting hug. Not saying anything when she felt silent tears wetting her shoulder. She held him tighter against her chest.

They stayed like this in silence for a few minutes until Poseidon calmed down enough to fall back asleep.

Poseidon woke up less anxious the next morning. He felt refreshed, more than he had in a long time. Maybe taking a break was really what he needed after all.

But, as soon as he started to emerge from his sleep, he felt the anxiousness coming back. At some point, he will have to fight the one his Father appointed to overthrow him. But now, he still has not recovered from the first round. Oceanus had been stronger than he thought.

Poseidon looked around the room to try and see if someone was sleeping in the nest, but no one was there. He hoped that Amphitrite and Triton would be safe. They didn't know but Poseidon could still use some form of magic to protect them and he did. Just like he had done when each one of his children was born. He made sure to put a protective seal around them so that if he wasn't here physically, they would still be safe from harm. For Percy, he had redone the seal multiple times, since he was a demi-god he needed different types of protection from him.

He hadn't been the greatest father or husband, he had to admit. But he did care for them with all his being even if sometimes he had trouble showing it.

Poseidon reminisced on his family life. For a little bit, quite possibly preparing himself for what was about to come. He knew he couldn't die per se, but there was always a possibility that the results of his being defeated by Oceanus would cause enormous problems.

For his realm, but also the Olympians.

He took a deep breath and finally prepared himself to go to Olympus where he had a council with Zeus and the others. He wasn't feeling the best but he knew better than to try his brother's temper.

Even if he was technically more powerful than him, Zeus would never admit it.

Poseidon dressed casually for the meeting, wearing his typical blue shirt and linen pants. He made sure to conceal the wound he had gathered to not attract attention.

Amphitrite passed him as he made his way to the borders of their realm. She kissed his cheek. "Be careful out there." He smiled. "I'll be fine." His tone got serious again for a second. "Call me if you sense him coming. I do not want you to fight alone."

He waited until Amphitrite nodded, he wouldn't leave without knowing she would actually call on him. "I will Po." She promised him, feeling his gaze on her. He finally let go of her hand and took his trident as he headed out.

…..

He arrived on Olympus safely, greeted his siblings silently, and took his place on his throne next to Zeus. The council started normally, they went over the typical matters. Some of which Poseidon found boring, to be honest, so he sat on his throne holding his head with his hand and pretending to listen. Which Zeus took note of and immediately sent him a disapproving look.

Poseidon merely sighed after the third glance. Thunder started booming around them. He didn't care but he still straightened his back slightly. Listening to Apollo making his reports. His leg started to shake, he couldn't hide the fact that he was stressed about something and Zeus would get to the bottom of it.

To Poseidon's demise, the council lasted a few hours. Enough time to cause his wound to act out. And he started to feel the throbbing pain in his side, he looked down at it, thankfully it hadn't oozed body fluids on his shirt yet.

Poseidon rose from his throne, ready to flee out the door before Zus grabbed his forearm, pulling him back. "We need to talk." His tone left no space to argue.

Zeus looked around the room waiting for everyone to make their leave. Hades and he exchanged a glance as the death god nodded, returning to his realm to deal with their brother's people's souls.

"I see that you are harmed." Zeus started as he let go of Poseidon's forearm. He was checking his brother's posture to try and find the injury. Then, his eyes landed on a thicker part of his shirt.

Poseidon didn't answer. The sea god avoided his brother's stare. He didn't want to admit such weakness in front of his brother no less.

Zeus waited for an explanation that didn't come. So he decided to take matters into his own hands. His brother has always been stubborn.

Poseidon didn't have much time to react before he felt Zeus's cold hands pulling on his shirt, revealing his bandaged side. "Who did this?" Zeus asked, Poseidon could see the thunder in his brother's eyes. He hadn't witnessed it since…he had saved them from Kronos.

Zeus prodded gently at the wound, making Poseidon hiss in pain.

"Brother, I appreciate your sudden concern but you are not exactly the god of medicine." But his brother didn't stop prodding around the bandage, and Poseidon started to feel his patience running thin.

Zeus finally stopped trying to look at the wound and looked down at his younger brother (yes technically Poseidon is older, but because he spent most of his formative years in his father's stomach, Zeus treated him like his younger brother).

"Answer my question, who is responsible for this, Poseidon?" He ordered.

He needed to find who would dare harm his brother in such a way and think they could get away with it alive.

Poseidon pulled back his shirt, hiding the injury again. "Oceanus." He admitted. Zeus raised an eyebrow. He had known their Father was back. He felt his presence. Just as he was sure that Poseidon felt him too. But he hadn't expected Kronos to try and overthrow his brother from his realm by rallying the Titan to the cause.

Oceanus had been peaceful about it then. But their father was convincing.

"Father is back isn't he?" Poseidon broke the silence.

Zeus nodded solemnly, tightening his fists. "Yes, I sensed him for a few months now. But I didn't think he would target you specifically."

Poseidon didn't know if he meant it as in, he would have hoped for it to happen, or if he was unhappy with it.

"I cannot let this go unpunished, but for the time being, we're going to see Apollo, so we can get a better judgment on the severity of your injury and then I'll make sure to send some of my army to Atlantis. We'll make sure the borders are reinforced." Zeus said as he paced around the thrones of Olympus.

The sea god listened closely to his brother's plan. While a part of him loathed to admit he needed help, the other simply couldn't let his brother take control of his duties for him.

"I appreciate your help, Zeus, I do, but I can handle Oceanus on my own."

Zeus turns around facing him once more, both eyebrows raised.

"Poseidon, you are injured, it does not bring me any sort of pleasure to give you help. But, Father is back, and we both know he will try to get revenge.' He paused for a second. "Guess who he is going to go after first?"

Poseidon's eyes hardened. "I won't allow it."

Zeus smiled. "Maybe, but he works in devious ways and you know it. First, he targets your realm, and your people, then he targets you to weaken you considerably through Oceanus to weaken you enough to leave the door open for..."

He stops suddenly, realization hits both Gods. "Your greatest weakness." Poseidon feels his heart stop for a second. "He will go after Poseidon, It's just a matter of time. "

Poseidon looks back at him, eyes harsh, burning with anger. "He won't lay a finger on them."

Zeus smiled once more, which made Poseidon want to rip his head off. "I didn't mean it that way brother, you must think beyond your anger. Remember, he feared that one of us would overpower him right?"

Poseidon rolled his eyes. "Yes, that's why he swallowed us. Thank you for reminding me of these pleasant times."

Zeus held a hand before Poseidon could snap at him. "Our Father will try to find the child that can overpower you and use them against you." He finished pointing towards him.

"You mean, he will use one of my children to betray me?" Poseidon thought long and hard about all the scenarios possible. He didn't think any of his children could possibly come up with the idea.

After all, he had tried his best to raise them with the love and care he could provide. Not wanting to become like his own Father had been.

His eldest son, Triton, would be devastated if he even tried to accuse him of such a thing. He had trained him to become his Heir. Rhode and Benthesykime didn't hold resentment in their hearts, they were both too compassionate and loving to think of such a thing.

Percy would never, even if Poseidon wished every day he could have been more present for his youngest.

And then it hit him.

He did make terrible mistakes before, one of them which caused a rift between him and one of his children. A terrible mistake that would cause them to turn against him if ignited by decades of resentment and anger.

"Kymopoleia."
