Kirito let out a sigh of relief when they eventually reached the edge of the forest of forever fall. The boy had thought that Killing the Goliath would be the most difficult part of the test but the long walk to find the way out surpassed it in Kirito's mind. At least the Grimm encounters had been minimal. They had only encountered one group of Beowolves which had been swiftly dealt with. Mostly thanks to Alice. The Blonde knight had taken care of at least three of the Grimm while Kirito and Eugeo only managed to take care of one each.
The sheer power Alice had made Kirito nervous. Her semblance let her just blitz through opponents with ease. Kirito shivered thinking about what could've happened if Alice used her semblance when she attacked him. She would've taken him down in a matter of seconds.
Kirito glanced over at the girl in question. She was standing next to Eugeo and was talking to him about something or another. Eugeo's semblance was another interesting one. The way he used it to freeze anything he fought made him a formidable opponent. The way he dealt with that alpha Beowolf when they first met still impressed Kirito. While not as offensively powerful as Alice's semblance, the fact it was able to hold a creature like the Goliath in place was definitely impressive.
Kirito was dragged out of his thoughts by an airship flying out over the tree line. It hovered above the edge of the forest before it began its slow descent. Creating large gusts of wind from the rotors as it did. All three of them covered their eyes to stop anything getting in them as the airship landed.
When the airship landed the back opened revealing Ozpin and Glynda standing in the back. Kirito watched the man as he and Glynda walked off the airship. Kirito couldn't put his finger on it but there was something about the guy that made him uncomfortable. He glanced over at Eugeo and Alice but the two of them seemed to have no worries about him. Kirito just sighed before returning his attention to the two professors.
"Well done the three of you" Ozpin greeted "Not only did you three and Miss Belladonna beat the Goliath but you did so in record time" He complimented.
"Miss Belladonna? You mean Blake?" Eugeo asked
"Indeed. Unfortunately she decided not to wait for us once the Goliath was defeated and instead left on her own accord." Glynda explained to them
"You three were quite impressive. Defeating a creature of Grimm on that scale is no small feat" He paused for a second clearly thinking about something "Even if it wasn't a full sized Goliath'' Ozpin complimented
Kirito had to do a double take at the last thing Ozpin said. "That wasn't full sized?!" Kirito almost yelled in surprise.
"Indeed. While not in the traditional sense. That Goliath was much smaller than others of its species." Glynda confirmed "Sending you to fight a full sized Goliath would've been suicide"
Eugeo nodded in agreement "Yeah, If that thing where as big as those things can be we wouldn't have stood a chance"
Kirito just looked at Ozpin with a bewildered look on his face. The Goliath was already a massive Grimm as it. Hearing that the one they fought wasn't even full sized scared him. If that wasn't as big as they got Kirito was terrified of ever having to fight a fully sized one.
"Anyways, onto more pressing matters." Glynda announced "As it is almost nightfall we have arranged hotel rooms for you all to stay in before returning to wherever it is you are currently residing in the morning" Glynda told them
"That's really nice of you. Thanks a lot" Eugeo told the professor gratefully
Kirito and Alice both nodded in agreement with Eugeo. Ozpin looked over the three before letting out a small chuckle and taking a sip from his coffee.
"Well let's get going then. We don't want to wait here and risk another Grimm attack now do we. You three look exhausted as is" The headmaster observed
It was only when the headmaster said that did Kirito realize just how tired he really was. His whole body ached from getting thrown around like a rag doll by the Goliath as well as from the time he was traversing the forest for. He still had multiple questions but he decided to save them for later. He was too tired to ask them now.
Ozpin and Glynda turned around and walked onto the airship. Eugeo and Alice followed suit. Kirito turned around and took one final glance at the forest. Taking in the quiet sound of the breeze and the red of the trees. It was almost peaceful. The swordsman then quickly spun around and walked onto the airship.
He saw Glynda and Ozpin sitting near to the front of the Air ship while Eugeo and Alice were sitting towards the back were talking about something but Kirito couldn't quite make out what they were saying. Kirito contemplated going over and talking to the two of them before deciding against it. His whole body ached. All he wanted was to just rest. The Swordsman walked to a seat in the middle of the Airship and sat down. Shrugging the two swords off his back and placing them on the seats next to him. The swordsman leant back in the chair and began to drift off.
Eugeo watched Kirito as he walked onto the Airship and sat down. Eugeo honestly didn't know what to make of the Swordsman. On the one hand he was a very capable fighter and his style seemed to synergise pretty well with His own and Alice's. On the other hand there were a lot of unknowns about Kirito. Such as those eyes of his.
"Hey Alice" Eugeo spoke to get Alice's attention.. The Blonde Knight looked at him expectantly as he spoke "I get your thinking behind it, but I gotta ask. Why did you just attack Kirito like that".
The Blonde knight let out a sigh. "I don't know Eugeo. I just saw the eyes and I guess I just…. reacted. I know now. Or at least I think I know that Kirito doesn't want to hurt us. That his eye color is just a coincidence. " Alice explained while gazing at the Sleeping Swordsman.
Eugeo nodded. "I got you. Still I gotta admit. His abilities are impressive. When i found him he took out a pack of Beowolves on his own and was preparing to fight the Alpha"
"They're just Beowolves, Eugeo. Although I'll admit when I crossed swords with him I noticed something. It was as if he had this strange conviction behind each strike. He clearly has a motivation and a purpose that he believes is worth fighting for." Alice told him. "However he seems .. lost.. Like he's not sure if what he's doing is correct. He reminds me off you when we first met" She remarked casually
"Hey!" Eugeo responded bringing a slight smile to Alice's boy let out a sigh before smiling as well "I know what you mean though. Our time at Beacon should definitely be interesting with him around"
Alice looked over at Kirito. "Indeed. In Fact i believe it would be in our best interest to learn more about him"
"Really?" Eugeo Questioned "It's not like you to want to talk to people" He said with an amused smirk on his face.
A small blush rose on Alice's cheeks at that comment "You can't have forgotten that students at Beacon are put into teams already," Alice accused. "Like we already said, his skills in combat are exceptional. If we find him to be a good person then he would be an ideal candidate for one of our teammates. That and if he were to be on our team then we could keep a closer eye on him." The Blonde Knight explained "While i do believe those eyes of his are a coincidence, I still don't fully trust him"
Eugeo didn't respond to that. He just looked over to Kirito. Alice made a fair point about the teams being formed at Beacon and her overall assessment of why Kirito would make an ideal teammate for the two of them. However Eugeo didn't feel right about getting to know the guy just to make sure they could keep an eye on him. So at the moment he decided that if they did spend some time with Kirito that he would Genuinely try to make friends with him and not just keep him at arms length like he expected Alice would try to do.
"Hey, come on wake up"
Kirito groaned as he opened his eyes. He looked around seeing that he was still on the bullhead. Kirito glanced over and saw Eugeo had been the one to wake him. He looked behind him and saw Alice waiting at the entrance to the airship
"What's up?" Kirito asked groggily Raising a hand to rub the sleep out of his eyes
"We've landed. You might wanna get up" Eugeo chuckled.
Kirito nodded before standing up and stretching. He reached down and picked up his swords before returning them to their normal place on his followed Eugeo to the back of the airship. He looked over at Alice who gave him a small nod before the three of them walked out of the airship.
Kirito saw that they had landed on the roof of a building that he assumed to be wherever they were staying. Kirito glanced around, noticing that they were quite close to the docks that he had arrived at earlier that day when Tai and Yang had brought him over from Patch. He looked around and saw Glynda standing by what looked to be an entrance to the building. Ozpin was nowhere to be seen.
"Good, you're finally awake." Glynda said. Kirito let out a nervous chuckle at that. Knowing exactly who Glynda was talking to. "Here are your room keys. Room 2-19,room 2-18 and room 2-17. The rooms have been booked until one pm tomorrow at which point you will be expected to have left. Any questions?" Glynda explained as she passed out the room keys. Kirito's room was number 2-17.
None of the trio responded so she continued "Good. And once again congratulations on making it into beacon academy." She said before walking through the door to the hotel
"Well let's get going then" Alice said
The three then headed into the hotel and began heading to their rooms. Their current floor had room numbers 4-20 to 4-01 so they would have to go down a couple of floors before they reached their rooms. Eventually the trio reached their rooms having been in silence for most of the walk. Kirito inserted the key and unlocked the door to his room but just as he was about to enter, Eugeo spoke.
"Hey Kirito. Me and Alice were gonna head out and get some dinner in a little bit. Would you like to join us" The Boy in blue asked.
Kirito hesitated for a second considering whether or not to accept. However his body answered him when he suddenly realized that he hadn't eaten since that morning. "That'd be great thanks. I haven't eaten all day"
"Great!. Me and Alice will knock when we're going ok?" Eugeo told him, genuine enthusiasm coming from the boy.
"You got it. I'll see you then" Kirito told him with a smile before walking into his room
His room wasn't too big. There was just a bed and a desk in the corner of the room. A small bathroom was located just next to the door. Kirito immediately put down his two swords on the ground by the door before taking off his coat and putting it on one of the hooks provided. He then immediately walked over to the bed and flopped onto it. The efforts of the day catching up to him. He hadn't had to walk that much in a while and having to fight on top of that really took it out of him. His short nap on the airship had barely done anything to re-energize him.
He was about to pass out when he felt something in his back pocket vibrate. He reached into the pocket and pulled out the...what had Yang called it?. Scroll that was it. Tai had bought him one so he could stay in contact with him as well as Yang and Ruby. Kirito had tried to decline but Tai had insisted. Saying if it meant that much then he could pay him back later. He pressed the button in the center to open the device and saw that he had a message from Yang.
"Hey, Have you gotten into the beacon yet?"
Kirito let out a small chuckle at Yang's message and how much confidence she had in him.
"Yeah I got in. Wasn't easy though. Had to kill this massive Grimm for the exam." Was his simple response
She replied not even ten seconds later "Hah nice!, Congrats Dude I knew you could do it!. We'll have to celebrate when you get back! You know which airship to take to get back to patch right?. We need to get Me,you and Ruby ready to leave for Beacon in three days. "
"Yeah, I know which one to take. Celebrating Sounds good, I'll see when i get back"
After sending that message Kirito decided that sleeping was probably a bad idea considering he had plans for later that night so he instead opened up the internet browser on his scroll. Immediately noticing a news article on the dust shop Torchwick had attempted to rob. The very same one that Kirito and Ruby had stopped him in his tracks at. The article only referenced himself and Ruby briefly, Noting that two huntsmen in training had intercepted his robbery. Kirito still found it weird that it had only been a week since he had woken up in that alley and he had already made a lot of progress. Well progress in his huntsman career at least. In terms of understanding why he was in the STL. He still couldn't remember anything past himself and Asuna leaving Agil's cafe before… Blank. The first thing he remembered after that was waking up in that alley.
He got up from the bed and walked over to the window of his room. He looked out of it at the city of Vale. Kirito knew there had to be a way out somewhere in this world. He guessed the best way would be to either find an admin console or to find a way to contact someone on the outside. But there were four kingdoms out there and he had barely started exploring one of them. He figured looking at key landmarks and cities would be a good start though and this beacon academy seemed like one of them. That and he would be able to learn about the world around him and how to take care of himself within it. After all, Ruby,Yang and Tai could only guide him so far.
He was distracted from his thoughts by a knock on the door. He quickly walked over to answer it. He opened the door and saw Eugeo and Alice standing there but in more casual attire. Eugeo was no longer wearing his coat and instead wore a pale blue t-shirt and a black pair of pants. Alice wasn't wearing her armor from earlier and instead was wearing a white dress shirt with a blue denim jacket. She also wore a beige colored skirt.
"Hey Kirito. Are you ready to head out?" Eugeo asked cheerfully.
"Of course, I Haven't eaten since before the entrance exam so I'm starving." Kirito told them with a grin
"That's good because where we're going has some of the best food in town," Eugeo told him.
The three of them beginning to walk down the hall towards the staircase as they spoke,
The three then made small talk as they headed towards the restaurant. Mainly discussing what Mistralian Cuisine was like and what the different options were, Kirito quickly discovered it was a mix of Spanish,Italian and Greek foods. Kirito knew he liked Italian food but making it a mixture of the three intrigued him. He looked forward to it though. He always enjoyed trying new foods. Something which he knew drove Asuna insane as he was always asking her to cook things for him back in Aincrad and after they escaped.A smile made its way onto his face as he thought about it. Asking her to recreate the foods he found in Remnant in real life was sure to drive her even crazier.
The three of them then continued to chat casually about the different types of food available on remnant. . He learned that Alice shared his love for spicy foods as well as learning that Eugeo absolutely hated them. Kirito actually found himself enjoying the company of the two. Alice was a lot less up tight when she wasn't in the field. While she was still a lot less talkative than Eugeo. She still spoke up whenever she had something to say. She was similar to Kirito himself that way. The three of them continued to talk about things like this as they made their way to the restaurant
Alice hadn't been lying. Mistralian food was really good. Kirito found that it was a strange mix of different European foods but mostly drawn from Italian. Kirito hadn't recognized many of the items on the menu and had to ask Alice and Eugeo for clarification. Luckily he hadn't needed to explain much and Alice was more than happy to talk about the menu and her opinions on each of the foods. He had eventually settled on a pasta dish with a tomato like sauce following Alice's recommendations. He hadn't been expecting a lot but when the food finally arrived and he finally tasted it, it was the best damn pasta he had had in his life.
Alice had noticed his initial reaction and smirked at him. "Told you it was good" She commented before digging into her own food.
Kirito swallowed the large mouthful of food in his mouth before responding "Never doubted it for a second" He told her "Although even I'll admit it's a lot better than i expected
"Mistral definitely has my favorite cuisine out of the four kingdoms." Alice told him "Although i have started to enjoy more of Vales food since i got here"
"How long have you guys been in Vale?" Kirito asked curiously, wanting to know more about the two.
"Eh, around two weeks. We came here before when we were kids on an exchange student program though" Eugeo explained "That's actually why we chose to enter Beacon academy instead of going to Shade or Atlas academies This place feels like a second home almost".
"What about you?" Alice asked, "What made you want to go to Beacon?"
Kirito Paused while thinking about how to answer that question. Putting his fork down "I guess I'm looking for knowledge" He answered slowly, causing Alice to raise her eyebrow "I mean. We gotta figure out the best way to protect this world right? So I figured becoming a huntsman was the best way to do that, To protect people" He explained half lying. He did want to help as many people as he could while he was in the STL but the real reason was to figure out why he was in the STL and how he could get out. "As to why I picked Beacon. Well the answer is I didn't really. I got invited to take the entrance exam by Professor Ozpin. So I went for it"
"Oh? Ozpin himself invited you? " Eugeo asked curiously "That's unusual, Beacon is one of the most selective academies when it comes to the students it lets in"
"Yeah me and a friend of mine stopped a robbery at a dust store by Roman Torchwick the other day. My friend got invited directly to Beacon whereas I got invited to take the entrance exam." Kirito explained
"Robbery at a dust store involving Torchwick… Wait you don't mean the one that happened at Dust till Dawn do you?" Alice asked, eyes wide as her gaze shot over to him. Kirito nodded slowly "That was you!.
"Dude,The hell were you thinking of getting in the way of Roman Torchwick!" Eugeo asked. Genuine concern in his voice "He's got a crime streak ten miles long and the stories they tell about that guy"
Kirito was taken aback by the worry in his voice "The store owner needed help, I wasn't just going to let that guy steal from him" Kirito explained defensively "Besides even if I wasn't there Ruby would've been there to fight them and knowing that girl I bet she would've kicked his ass all on her own"
"Ruby?" Alice questioned. A thoughtful look on her face. "An Associate of yours I presume?"
"The friend I mentioned. She got a fast pass into Beacon" Kirito told them "That girls got talent though. I've sparred with her multiple times and can barely land a solid hit"
Eugeo nodded "She must be pretty good to give you so much trouble although I wouldn't sell yourself short either though Kirito, While it's certainly different to how Alice and I fight It's honestly incredible" Eugeo told him
"Oh? You think so?" Kirito questioned cautiously
"Indeed. Remember when I commented about you using two swords?" Alice asked. Kirito nodded once again "Well I was curious because I once tried it as well."
She was cut off by a laugh from Eugeo "You called it trying, Everyone else said "Hey why is that girl flailing swords around like that?" He explained with a smirk on his face before bursting out laughing again.
A small blush appeared on Alice's face "It was harder than I anticipated ok!" She almost yelled only causing Eugeo to laugh harder "It shouldn't be that hard! It's just so hard to focus on both blades" She defended growing increasingly more flustered
"Dude!" Eugeo choked out between laughs "She asked me to record her first attempt so I have the entire thing saved to my scroll, Remind me to show you it sometime". Before taking a sip from his glass of water to try and compose himself.
Alice hid her face between her hands and let out a loud groan. "I forgot you had it recorded" She muttered before pressing her head against the table. Kirito chuckled at the two's antics. They reminded him a lot of his own group of friends back home.
"Really you struggled that much with it?" He asked Alice curiously. It wasn't meant to be an insult. He wasn't perfect with his Dual back in SAO and even now he was struggling to perfect it in ALO. He was just curious as even after arriving here where there was no system to assist him in combat fighting with one or even both swords just felt natural.
Alice leaned back in her chair and sighed "I figured it would be a good way to better the use of my semblance while I was still learning to use it." She explained, sounding frustrated "Being able to direct the flowers in two different directions would also allow for more creativity with the attacks I could pull off. But in practice it just didn't work. I spent months working on it before giving up"
"Speaking of your semblance I was meaning to ask you two" Alice and Eugeo both looked at Kirito curiously "I've done a lot of research into semblances but I haven't seen anything like your guys'. I guess I'm kinda curious as to how they work?" Kirito explained
Eugeo nodded "Makes sense. Mine and Alice's semblances are actually unique." Kirito raised an eyebrow at that. Eugeo smiled before gesturing towards Alice to allow her to explain.
Alice looked at Kirito thoughtfully for a second before responding "Where me and Eugeo are from we have a strong belief that you can tell everything about a person from their weapon. From their personality to their fighting style., Of course there's a lot more to it than just that but the gist of it is that huntsmen are very."
"OK I follow you so far. But how does that tie into your semblances?" Kirito asked curiously
This time Eugeo took over explaining "Well you see because of that belief a lot of huntsmen from where we're from have semblances that are tied to their weapons. There's even a rumor that the most famous huntsman from our village could even cut through time with his sword" Eugeo explained. Admiration in his voice.
"Anyways. Our semblances are more powerful in essence due to the fact that they're bonded to our weapons and by extension our very personalities." Alice continued where Eugeo left off "My semblance for example is that I'm able to convert specific materials into those flower petals. The amount I create largely depends on how much material I use but I'm always able to have the flower petals reform into the material they came from"
"That's how you were able to do that with your sword during the fight with the Goliath" Kirito realized in awe remembering the area of the forest they had found Alice in after Kirito met Eugeo. If Alice's semblance was able to do that and she didn't even seem phased by it, who knew what else she could do.
"Exactly" Eugeo confirmed "As for mine. My semblance is cryomancy. I'm able to generate and manipulate ice basically at will. However, while I can do it without my weapon, It's a lot harder for me to do it without me holding the Blue Rose sword." He paused as he explained, trying to figure out the words
Luckily for him Alice found them for him "His sword is basically a conduit that amplifies his semblance. Eugeo's connection to his weapon is like nothing we'd seen in a long time"
Eugeo rubbed the back of his head nervously "It's not that special. It's just that… Whenever I'm holding the Blue Rose sword. It gives me a sense of confidence that I never had before training to become a huntsman. I feel like I can do anything and I guess my semblance responds to that"
Kirito smiled at him "Well I think it's incredible". Eugeo gave him a smile in return
"Although I'm actually more curious about your semblance Kirito" Alice before told him taking a drink from her glass
"What do you want to know" Kirito asked cautiously
"Well the same things we told you" Alice explained "Our semblances may be unique but so is yours. I've never seen anyone's weapons glow like yours nor the precision in your attacks when they do"
Kirito nodded "I guess that makes sense. Well my semblance basically lets me use these things called Sword Skills. It's basically a set of attack patterns or defensive moves that I can pull off perfectly at any time and my attacks are also more powerful whenever I use one".
Kirito had spent a good amount of his time practicing with Tai,Ruby and Yang figuring out the smaller details of his semblance. He was able to tap into a good few of the one-handed sword skills he remembered from SAO but was having trouble with any skill that was above eight hits. With his Dual Blades skills he was still struggling to go above the basic three to four hit combos. Although now he thought about it he realized that the skill he had pulled off against the Goliath was eight hits. He would have to remember to get Ruby and Yang to help him see if he could replicate it when he got back.
"So In essence your sword skills are an amplifier on your abilities" Alice said thoughtfully. Bringing her hand to her chin. "They allow you to not only hit harder but also as you don't have to worry about your attack while one is being executed it gives you time to be more analytical"
Kirito nodded "However it has a massive downside in that once I start a sword skill I'm unable to do anything until that sword skill is completed. So if i misjudge when to use one or use one to frequently it leaves me wide open and not to mention predictable if a fight goes on long enough"
Alice nodded "That is quite a large down side, It requires you to perfectly judge when to go for a powerful strike or when to stay on the defensive. Still from how I observed your combat abilities in the forest you seem to be quite good at identifying when it is right to use a sword skill" She observed.
"Still it's one hell of a semblance" Eugeo told him "Your skills as a swordsman are pretty good as is, With an amplifier like that I've got no doubts that you'll take beacon by storm"
Kirito rubbed the back of his neck, Embarrassed at the praise. Before he had a chance to respond however one of the waitresses for the restaurant walked over to their table "Excuse me ,I'm sorry to interrupt but we're closing soon."
Alice nodded "Oh I'm sorry, We were all just about finished anyways. Could you bring us the check?" The waitress nodded and rushed off towards the front of the restaurant.
"So how much do I owe you?" Kirito asked
"Don't worry about it. Consider it a thanks for all your help in the exam" Alice told him with a pause "And an apology for nearly taking your head off" She explained with a chuckle.
Kirito was about to argue before Eugeo held a hand up "Don't bother trying to argue with her. Trust me when I say it won't work" He said before quickly finishing off the drink he had in front of him.
Kirito was briefly stunned but found that he could only smile in response.
It was just before Midnight when the three of them made it back to their hotel rooms. Kirito had thought it to be a pretty good evening all things considered. Eugeo and Alice Turned out to be really fun to hang out with and he was happy that it seemed like Alice didn't want him dead anymore. Eventually they reached the doors to their rooms when Eugeo spoke up "Hey Kirito, I just wanted to say that I had fun tonight and I look forward to seeing you again at Beacon!" Eugeo told him.
Kirito paused for a second Before smiling and nodding "Yeah me too. We should definitely do this again sometime." He agreed "Who knows. Maybe next time i'll drag Ruby along so you guys can meet her"
"That'd be great" Alice smiled "Until then Kirito '' She gave a short goodbye for the night before entering her room.
"Goodnight Kirito," Eugeo said before entering his own room as well.
Kirito fumbled with his key a bit before finally managing to unlock his room. He Stumbled over to his bed before lying down and almost immediately passing out. He had had one hell of a day and he was certain that his experiences at beacon academy would only provide more challenges like this.
Ozpin sipped his coffee as he stared at the screen in front of him. It was a list of all of the beacon academy applicants for the year. There were some stand out names here, A world renowned Athlete, The Heiress to the largest dust company on the planet and the Daughter of two of the greatest huntsmen Ozpin had known. Yet they were not the ones he found the most interesting. Instead he was most interested in Ruby Rose and Kirito.
"I'm still not sure why you gave those two the opportunity you did" Glynda told him pacing back and forth in front of his desk while looking at her scroll. "Miss Rose I can understand seeing as she has an extensive combat background and training from Qrow. She is by all accounts an exceptional huntress-in-training and a perfect fit for beacon." She explained before walking over to Ozpin's desk and looking down at him as he didn't even raise his eyes to look at her. "But Mr Kirito isn't even close to that. He claims to have no memories but despite this he performed well on the entrance exam even dealing the final blow to the Goliath. But that doesn't change the fact that he's completely , As far as we know, Untrained in combat. He's almost as bad as that Arc boy".
Ozpin took another sip from his coffee before finally looking up at her and responding "I agree that Kirito is not the usual type of student we would accept into beacon academy and I do agree that his proficiency towards combat despite having no recorded training is quite interesting. Which is exactly why I believe it would be a good idea to have him at beacon" He explained
"So you just want to keep an eye on him then" Glynda sighed "Very well but I seriously doubt that he will prove to be anything special in the end"
Ozpin chuckled in response to Glynda's statement "And there is where we disagree".
It was Afternoon already when Kirito finally made it back to the Xiao-Long residence on Patch. He hadn't seen Alice and Eugeo that morning. He had expected to see them as they all left but he guessed that they had just left before he had. The Flight back to the island had been mostly uneventful and Kirito had taken the opportunity to catch up on some more sleep. He was walking down the path towards the cabin when he saw Tai Yang in front of the house Gardening. Zwei noticed him first though and ran up to him letting out friendly barks and rolling over on his back demanding to be petted. Kirito chuckled at the Little Dogs Antics and knelt down to rub his belly which the dog in questioned happily enjoyed
"Oh your back already!" Tai Called walking over to him. "Yang told me how it went. Congrats on making it into beacon academy kid! Knew you could do it!"
Kirito Smiled at his words "Thanks Tai. But I couldn't have done it without all of your help."
Tai nodded "Mhm still while I might have taught you. Using that knowledge out there is still a whole ballgame of its own. You'll learn that over your time at beacon." He explained before turning around and walking towards the house. Now why don't you come inside. I should probably get dinner started before Ruby and Yang get back anyways".
"Where are they anyways" Kirito asked
"Yang's out in Vale meeting up with some friends she's going to Beacon with and Ruby's saying goodbye to her friends from signal." Tai explained. "Now come on your must be starving"
Kirito nodded and stood up from his position before hearing an almost offended bark from Zwei who was clearly upset that the pets had stopped. Kirito just rolled his eyes and followed Tai inside the house. The small dog in tow.
"I still can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me!" Yang yelled as she hugged Ruby "This is the best day ever!
"Please stop" Ruby wheezed as Yang squeezed her
Kirito chuckled at the Antics of the two. He stared out of the window of the large Airship they were on and was mesmerized by the view. It had been four days since Kirito passed his entrance exam and had dinner with Eugeo and Alice and the day he had been preparing for was here. He was finally going to Beacon academy. He tuned out Ruby and Yang's conversation as he scanned the room for the two or even Blake. He still wanted to give her a proper thank you for her help. Try as he might though he couldn't find them. He was dragged out of his thoughts by the TV in the area changing from the news to a hologram of Glynda Goodwitch.
"Hello and Welcome to Beacon" She began
"Who's that?" Yang asked curiously
"My name is Glynda Goodwitch"
"Oh" Yang realized. Kirito snorted at the interaction.
Glynda continued her speech. Her tone calm and controlling "You are among a privileged few who have been selected to attend this prestigious academy. Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace. And as future huntsmen and huntresses it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task and it is now our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world" Glynda's speech ended and her hologram faded away.
Kirito didn't know how to feel about Glynda's speech. He felt like he hadn't earned his place in the academy nearly as much as those around him and that he really didn't deserve to be there. However her speech also steeled his resolve. It was at that moment that Kirito told himself something. He was going to figure out how and why he was on Remnant and he would be ready for whatever this world threw at him!.
"Ew Yang you have puke on your shoe!" Ruby yelled out in panic as she began backing away from Yang
