Chapter 2
Sparda grunted, his eyes watching the blood drip from his sword as the last demon in the herd fell.
Hunting was normally something he did to pass time, but having to hunt at 2 o'clock in the morning was more irritating than having to drag himself out of bed to fill his pregnant loves cravings. Nothing was worth not being tucked in bed with Eva, her very pregnant stomach pressed against him as she layed in his arms, snoring softly as she slept.
If only her nose hadn't woken her in the middle of the night, sending her to the bathroom to relieve last night's dinner from her stomach.
He had followed her into the bathroom, instantly following behind her as he hadn't been asleep, and held her hair until she finished, rubbing slow circles on her back and offering soothing words.
"Those fucking demons. I can smell the slime from here. Get rid of them."
Sparda sighed, putting his sword away and looking around to make sure no other slime demons were lingering around. Now that he had taken care of the herd, he would need to move their bodies since they clearly did not dust in their death. Eva would throw a fit if he returned and she could still smell them.
He had no idea how she was able to smell them from this distance. He wasn't sure if it was human pregnancy effects, or if she had adapted demonic scenes due to carrying a child with mixed blood.
He still thought she was carrying twins.
Grabbing the first slime demon by its leg, he lunged it far enough to land on the other end of the field he had found them on. They were small for their size so they were probably young. Hopefully the parents wouldn't come looking for them, and if they did hopefully it would be in the daytime so Eva would be able to have a full night of rest.
She was becoming more agitated as the days passed. Lack of sleep and an overhaul of emotion was starting to get to her.
Just the other day she had kicked him out of their home claiming that she could smell the demon on him, despite being in human form. He had followed her wish despite being unwilling to leave and had returned hours later to find her crying on the bedroom floor because she missed him and didn't know where he had gone because she could no longer smell him.
Sparda brushed the memory away, tossing the last demon across the field and turning to return home. All he wanted to do now was to take a long hot shower before snuggling with Eva as she attempted to go back to sleep if she wasn't already.
The house was silent upon his return, the hired help had already turned in for the night and Eva was probably waiting for him in their room.
Making his way down the halls, he silently made his way up the stairs to their bedroom. A soft light fluttered through the cracks of the doorframe and he gently pushed the door open.
Eva sat on the bed, a box of gummies in her hand as she looked out of the window. The room was barely lit with a small candle, and the moonlight caused her to look serene. She turned to him as he made a soft noise to alert her of his presence and she grinned at him.
"The smell is gone."
