GAMBLING

"And that's sixteen. What would you like to do?"

Izuku tapped a finger on his cards. The dealer smirked to himself and drew another card.

"Looks like your luck is in. Will you be holding?"

"No thank you. Hit me."

Another two joined Izuku's cards. The dealer gave the cards a reproachful glare, for daring to defy the laws of probability and good sense. "And that makes twenty. Bold of you, to push your luck so far."

"I shall be pushing it further. Hit me."

The dealer grit his teeth. Surely not. The whole casino had Quirk suppressors, and nobody naturally had that kind of luck. The whole table held their breaths as the dealer turned over the next card. An ace.

"And that is twenty-one. Congratulations, sir."

"Thank you. Now hit me."

The dealer blinked. "E-excuse me sir?"

Izuku tapped his cards. "Hit me. Please."

The other players all guffawed. Incredulously, the dealer overturned the next card. "And that's… a Blue Eyes White Dragon?"

The Yugioh card stared up at him, roaring defiantly. The dealer thumbed the microphone hidden in his jacket and mumbled, "Check the cameras." To distract the players, the dealer said, "I suppose we must've run out of eights. That would bring your total up to-"

"Hit me."

"B-but you went over."

"Hit. Me."

The dealer glanced at the growing pile of cards in front of Izuku. With a shrug, they dealt another one. After all, it wasn't like the number could go down, right?

The next card was a Wild Draw Four.

"Well?" The woman next to Izuku asked. "Aren't you going to give him four more?"

"B-but he's at thirty-three now, surely he's more than busted."

Izuku tapped the cards. With a resigned sigh, the dealer turned over four more. There was a punch card for a free drink at the bar, a card with inverted colors that said '-10', a first edition holographic Charizard, and the dealer's own credit card.

"I, uh, guess that's twenty-two? You still bust."

Izuku leaned over the table and whispered, "Hit me."

The dealer began crying. "Please. I'm begging you to stop!"

"Oh. Okay. I will stay then."

The dealer froze. As the words bounced around his skull like a hyperactive bat, the dealer collapsed into their chair, snatched a glass off the nearest server, and drained it all in one go. While he recovered from his trauma, Izuku asked, "You are supposed to flip over your cards, correct?"

The dealer flinched. "Oh. Right. Here you go."

He flipped them over. One card was the joker. The dealer frowned at it and said, "I'm terribly sorry, I have no idea how that got in there. Allow me to-"

The next card said, "Go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars."

As the dealer gaped at the Monopoly card, FBI agents rappelled from the ceiling, cuffed him over the table, and dragged him out a window.

Izuku asked, "Does this mean I win?"
