Daphne stood pressed to the freezer door, her ear forced against the chilly metal.

"Like, you think they're gone?" Shaggy was already feeling the chill.

"I don't know," Daphne kept her ear to the door. "I don't hear anything."

Shaggy joined her and put his ear to the door as well. "Like, I guess that means they lost us!"

Daphne let out a sigh of relief and grabbed the door handle. "All right, let's get out of here. I'm already freezing."

She turned the door handle. Or tried to, because it wouldn't budge. They were locked in from the outside.

"Um . . . Shaggy!" Daphne felt her heart catch in her throat. She knew panicking wouldn't do any good, but she couldn't help herself. "It - It's locked!"

"What?" Shaggy nudged her aside and tried the door handle. Nothing. He felt his stomach drop. "Shit . . ."

"You think it locks automatically?" Daphne's breath plumed as she spoke. "You think someone locked us in here? Who would do that! Oh, my God, I'm so stupid!"

Shaggy was still pulling on the door handle. "Like, I don't know! But that doesn't matter, okay! Help me pull! Like, it might just be stuck or something."

With their hands on the door handle, they started to pull as hard as they possibly could. Daphne, in her fit of panic, lost her balance and fell to the floor. "We're going to die!"

Shaggy kept pulling until his hands were raw with cold. "No, we're not, Daph. Fred, Velma, and Scooby will find us, okay!"

Daphne was now huddled in the corner, right in front of a stack of boxes. Shaggy sat next to her.

"Like, do you remember the time we all got stuck in the Mystery Machine in the middle of a blizzard? It's kind of like this."

"How am I the one freaking out right now?" Daphne shuddered.

Shaggy looked around the room. It was small with metal shelving full of cardboard boxes. "Well, like, I think we all know you're claustrophobic, Daphne."

"It's not just that! We could get hypothermia!"

"I - I know! Just - Just try to calm down, okay!" Shaggy was panicking hard on the inside, but he felt that since it was just him and Daphne, he had to at least try to be brave.

"O - Okay. Okay . . ." Daphne got up and started pacing. "Okay . . . We've just got to keep moving around until someone finds us . . . to keep warm. Do you have a cell?"

Shaggy felt inside his bell-bottom pant pockets. Nothing. Then he tried his jacket pockets. Nothing. "Nope . . . I assume it's the same for you."

Daphne didn't answer. She started pacing faster and faster. "Okay . . . Okay."

"Daph, stop!" Shaggy grabbed Daphne by the shoulders. "Like, I know this sounds stupid of me to say, but we can't panic. Not now. Just sit down . . . Here, take this -" Shaggy slipped out of his jacket and was met with a sudden blast of cold air. "Put this on."

"Thank you," Daphne said as Shaggy draped the jacket over her shoulders. "But what about you?"

"Like, don't worry about it," Shaggy tried to give her a reassuring grin, but it was hard. Hard because he knew they had no contact with the outside world. They had no water, no warmth, no food . . . No food!

"Okay, Daph, I'm going to try to, like, find something to eat. There might be some vegetables or something."

"Right now?" Daphne shuddered. "We're in a freezer at a lab, why would there be food!"

"Worth a try . . . Plus, it's important to have a full stomach when you're cold," Shaggy said, smiling sheepishly as he went to a nearby shelf and opened a small box. "Just a bunch of weird liquids in this one . . . How about this?" He came upon a long cardboard box just sitting in the corner of the room.

Daphne rolled her eyes. "Shaggy, stop!"

But it was too late. Shaggy opened it. And what was inside made Shaggy fall back with terror. It was a body. A fresh one. The skin was still intact but was showing a blue hue to it. It was a man. From what Shaggy gathered, he was some sort of authority figure, according to the crisp uniform and badge.

Shaggy would have looked to see if the badge had a name to it, but he didn't. He sat there and screamed instead.

"OH MY GOD!" Daphne screamed as she went up to Shaggy and grabbed his arm. "Get away from that! Get away!"

Shaggy slid back with Daphne and looked at the scene in front of them. Shaggy brushed back his tousled hair and tried to catch his breath. "Oh, my God. We've gotta get out of here!"

He got up and started trying the door handle again. Nothing.
