Since she had started working as a pharmacist, Eirin had treated all manner of beings. Due to her wealth of knowledge, vast intelligence, and medical expertise regarding both humans and youkai, she even drew in some patients that others would write off as beyond saving. In spite of how much she had gotten used to, it still came as a bit of a surprise when an unconscious oni was brought in. "You gotta help!" The oni's friend had explained in a panic, "She drank too much, even for an oni, and I'm scared she'll never wake up!"
As Eirin prepared to examine the oni, she called for Reisen. "Go to the Hakurei Shrine, and bring in Suika. There is limited information on oni, and I will not be able to effectively treat the patient without another oni's assistance." As Reisen left, Eirin began the examination.
The oni did not have any alcohol in her system, meaning she had likely been out for quite a while. Her brainwaves were 2 Hz, consistent with a deep sleep. Her heartrate was only 120 BPM, astonishingly low compared to what little data Eirin had been able to gather from other oni. Eventually, Reisen came back with Suika.
"I heard you needed help treating another oni." Said Suika, before taking a drink from her gourd. "What's the problem?" she continued. "Her friend said she drank more than she could handle, blacked out, and hasn't awoken since." Eirin explained. Suika frowned at the information, and set aside her gourd. "We oni have an incredibly high tolerance for alcohol, but if we black out from overindulgence, we never wake up." She explained. "I'm not sure how much you will be able to do, but I will help out, regardless."
Eirin ran an examination on Suika to help gather data. The deva had a BAC of 1%, unsurprisingly. Her resting heartrate was 215 BPM, about what previous data suggested was normal. She was around the same height as the patient, barring her longer horns.
Eirin looked over the data she gathered. Even with another oni helping her, she still didn't have much to go by, but if Suika or another oni was willing to be tested on, Eirin believed she might be able to make something to awaken the patient.
Happy anniversary, Imperishable Night! I was occupied assisting with writing a TTRPG, so I ended up deciding to split this into two parts in order to get part of it published for the event I was writing it for. The next part will be longer, and I'll probably have to do some research for it; biology is one of my weaker subjects. This is also technically the first work I published for Touhou, and the first work I published simultaneously on Ao3 and Fanfiction.
