It was only the 7th day of shore leave for the Cerritos and some of the crews were happier than they have ever been. Some of the crew members were happy as they were getting a much-deserved vacation while others were happy as they were in love. Mariner found a new girlfriend in a Betazoid member of the Archeologist Guild who was beautiful, adventurous, and smart. Boimler possibly found romance in his Vulcan crewmate T'Lyn who was beginning to reciprocate his feelings (though she maintained her usual monotone demeanor). Rutherford was beginning to find some common ground with Ensign Barnes and began to fall for her just as Barnes was feeling more attracted to Rutherford. While Starfleet had a multitude of different alien species from many different worlds there was one common factor among them all: Boys and girls are completely different. Let's try to answer one question among Trills, Vulcans, Betazoids, and humans: What are little girls made of?
Boimler and T'Lyn were enjoying the morning with some light reading and a cup of coffee while sunbathing on the beach. Boimler was dressed in his usual beach attire while T'Lyn was dressed in her swimsuit and sarong. Boimler was reading about the Enterprise adventures from the Captain Pike while T'Lyn was reading Shakespeare's Romeo and Juillet. T'Lyn asked Boimler what he was reading about with Boimler answering that he was reading about the Enterprise when Captain Pike was in command. T'Lyn replied, "A rather illogical choice Bradward. Given how you and Mariner visited the Enterprise during Captain Pike's command do you not find that material boring?" Boimler replied, "Not really I mean reading these stories with what I know now gives me a better appreciation for them. Though I am nervous about reading about Spock I've always worried I may have influenced him which is something you should not do when traveling in time." T'Lyn grabbed Boimler's shoulder and said, "Bradward, I highly doubt you influenced Spock's behavior he may be half human but he is also Vulcan. Vulcans are not so easily swayed by emotions and if you did influence him, it was only to preserve history. Bradward, you have also influenced me in a more positive manner especially during our shore leave together. I have also found D'Vana to be quite a good friend and a more than capable scientist. I have been able to study marine life from other worlds and have had many fascinating discussions. You are a rather fascinating individual and I am happy to call you, my friend." Boimler was touched by T'Lyn's words and replied, "Thanks T'Lyn I mean its' pretty great vacationing with you especially since we got to study some impressive marine life together. So, I was curious do you have a betrothed on Vulcan?" T'Lyn explained that she did and he left as he found to T'Lyn to be out of control then Boimler comforted T'Lyn by saying she was a knockout by Vulcan standards. The two continued their light reading enjoying the bright sun and cool coffee.
On another ocean of Vacanza Beta, out of the crystal blue water Mariner surfaced from the depths and began gasping for air with Serena doing the same thing just a moment later. The two lovers were dressed in simple bikinis, flippers, masks, and snorkels as they had finished salvaging the sunken ship, they found some days ago and were simply snorkeling today. Mariner swam closer to Serena and planted a kiss on her lips then Serena asked why she kissed her right then. Mariner explained, "Well I'm on vacation I have a hot new girlfriend and the wet look on you is incredibly sexy. Plus seeing you in a bikini is always a turn on but I figured we should start with a kiss." Mariner and Serena had grown quite close during Mariner's shore leave and while they both thought things were moving a bit, they decided they were happy so f #% going too fast. Serena replied, "Thanks babe it's amazing one day I was dumped by an outpost scientist and spray painting the side of science outpost the next day I'm snorkeling with a junior lieutenant. A hot one with a body like a work of art and the personality of an adventurer. Plus, I know I made a good impression on your mom last night." The night before Serena joined Mariner for dinner with her mother and amazingly it was not the awkward meet the parents dinner scene from countless movies and tv shows. Captain Freeman was a bit overprotective as she was both Mariner's mother and her captain especially after the interview incident that made Mariner leave. However, Serena was genuine in her love for Mariner and poured the charm on when meeting her girlfriend's mother, although the alcohol did help to grease the wheels. Mariner replied, "Yeah, I'm glad it worked out well too. I mean I love those awkward meet the parent scenes in movies but I don't want to live it. Though how much of my mom's memories did you probe." Serena replied, "Don't worry babe I didn't look at your early childhood stuff but I did see all the times she put you in the brig and some of the crazy mother daughter moments you two shared. Though even with a ripped uniform, holding a bloody bat'leth, and several injuries you were still incredibly sexy." Mariner explained that she sometimes bends the rules to help others and may have some contraband. Serena understood that sometimes the rules of Starfleet can be rigid and you have to go outside the rules to help. Mariner slightly ripped the right breast of her bikini to arouse Serena and said, "Oops it looks like my bikini ripped a little." Serena kissed Mariner and the two slowly sank deep into the water as they continued kissing into the blue.
On a snowy mountain the sun was shining in the skies and not a single cloud was in the sky, a perfect day for snowy fun. On his shore leave Rutherford was enjoying the natural beauty of both the snowy mountain landscape and his fellow Starfleet officer, Ensign Barnes. The two had decided to take their shore leave together as Barnes knew this was her best shot to get close to Rutherford. While Barnes was not as Rutherford as Tendi she was always his friend despite so of the unusual bumps of life on a starship especially when his past self was a jerk to her. While Barnes did not have the highest opinion of Engineering, she did have a relatively good opinion of Rutherford especially after getting to know him better. The two decided to engage in a classic winter sport as old as earth, playing in the snow like children. Rutherford and Barnes were making a snowman with Rutherford using his implant to better measure rolling the perfect snowballs. Barnes asked Rutherford, "So that thing can help you measure stuff like snowballs. I'm surprised you never tried baking before." Rutheford replied, "Well it does help me with pottery though my work still isn't as good as Shax's work. Though I prefer to work on technology it's a bit less messing than cooking and I haven't had a lot of experience with cooking." Barnes took Rutherford's hands and told him that he would teach Rutherford how to cook a meal for with him simply replying with his usual, "Okey Dokey". While Rutherford was finishing the snowman Barnes thought to herself, "While it's nice to meet a guy who isn't an ass it's kinda frustrating to meet someone who is clueless. However, he is smart and can kick ass, when necessary, maybe he is worth a shot." As Rutherford was finishing the snowman he was suddenly hit with a snowball to the face then after wiping it off he had gotten a second snowball to the face. Rutherford turned to see that it was Barnes who threw the snowball and saw that she had another one ready to throw. Rutherford ducked to avoid the third snowball and exclaimed to Barnes, "Of course you know this means war. So, prepare for a snowball fight of epicness." While Rutherford was obviously bluffing Barnes took it seriously as she had never lost a snowball fight before and she was gonna lose this one. Barnes and Rutherford began their snowball fight instead of a serious combat training scenario it was a playful snowball fight between two friends that were on the verge of a more romantic relationship.
