Hospital Room - Day 4, 2:20PM

Alex sat between two beds. The one on his left held poor Sebastian, who lay unconscious, and a in critical state. He passed out from shock and blood loss at the top of the stairs. Alex called the paramedics as soon as he had signal.

Speaking of everyone, Bryce sat on his right, his leg casted. He received medical attention alongside Sebastian. Sebastian's bullet passed through his torso, evidenced by the visible missing chunk of flesh from his back when he finally set the runner down. Bryce bit down hard enough to pierce his own arm as his bullet was dug out. It still left a moderate fracture. It was as he said, his kind had tough bones.

"This is the worst." Bryce muttered. "Reza goes and ambushes us, and we all get shot. And you're the only one who wasn't seriously injured."

"Come on, Bryce. I was pretty badly hurt. Besides, I don't think that was Reza." Alex 'speculated'.

"Oh really? Then who was it, you?"

"Someone female. I heard her voice when I shot her."

"You sure you didn't knock your head on those stairs? I couldn't hear shit over all those explosions. Don't know how you're not deaf."

"Dunno. I'm sure about it, though. Even with the ringing, I heard a girl. Sorry about that, by the way."

"It's fine." Bryce waved him off. "It stopped anyway."

"Good. I was scared that was permanent." Alex breathed a sigh of relief. Bryce let out a dry chuckle.

"Nothing's more permanent than this, kiddo." He pointed to his throat.

"You sure you don't want my healing tech? It'll get you out of that cast faster." Alex offered.

"How you described it sounds like bad science fiction. I'm fine." Bryce declined hastily.

"Fine... I'm going out to take care of business." Alex stripped his watch off Sebastian. "Use this if you want. I'm leaving it here regardless." He set the device down on the end table next to his dragon and left.

Bryce stared at the small device, then to Sebastian. Alex did nothing, and yet the bleeding stopped. He just lay there with blood going back into him now. Not even his bandages were bloodied since they were applied. It was almost like he was never injured in the first place...

Alex stormed over to Tatsu Park. His blood boiled restlessly. That bitch thought she could get away with hurting his friends? She was about to get a cold, hard splash of reality. He no longer cared if anyone saw him changing. This was about to get ugly fast.

"Alex? What's going-" Click A tiny dart embedded itself into Maverick's throat, working its magic swiftly. The poor victim of Alex's assault stumbled toward him, baring his razor-like teeth before passing out.

"I'm sorry Maverick." He said. "This is something I can't allow other people around."

He dragged Maverick's body into the bushes, making sure nobody would find him until they got back. The last thing they needed was people worrying about people suddenly falling unconscious with darts sticking out of them. They may be angry, but they still couldn't be too reckless.

It was a sprint over to the manhole covering the Administrator's little hiding spot. He had to knock out all of two pedestrians on his way inside. punching the code in, he lifted the cover and dropped down.

His landing was instantly met with six whole rounds of gunfire. The Administrator was resting against a wall and trying to reload. Did his bullets really damage her that much? No matter. This was perfect. He had her right where they wanted her. The vigilante approached as she whipped the cylinder back into place. A quick pull of the hammer and six more rounds were fired.

Alex was knocked over with the last, allowing the Administrator a head start. He whipped around with another volley of gunfire. Several coughs sent bullets ricocheting all over the place. Another yelp signaled a hit, with more bullets sailing his way. He went prone as the projectiles zipped past.

Standing up, he hoped he hit something fatal. Their night vision revealed nothing more in the distance. The Administrator had disappeared...

Alex glanced toward the south end of Tatsu Park. He never properly visited, only learning that it was the political district via his two visits to Emera's building. Emera, that damned bully. How he wanted to punch her for her behavior toward Remy and Bryce. Of course, he couldn't do that. He'd be either cast out or killed. But Viper...

He put the thought aside for later. He'd only move if she tried anything stupid. For now though, he'd continue as normal.

Hospital Room - 6:32PM

Bryce's eyes fluttered open. He half expected to see either his coffee table or the walls of his office. Hell, even the bar's floor seemed more pleasant compared to the sight of his hospital bed. His leg remained in its cast, completely free of the singeing pain it was inflicted before his nap. He shifted it in its restraint. Nothing. He wondered if it was the painkillers he was given or something else. He wasn't about to find out, regardless.

A knock forced him back into bed. Alex coming through relaxed him. If it were a nurse, he'd be scolded and forced back into that crap for sure.

"Hey. I got everything taken care of." Alex said, coming up to his bed.

"Everything? What are you talking about?" Bryce cocked a brow.

"On the list. It fell out of your badge's pocket when your stuff was taken." Alex flashed said list. Everything was checked off as he said.

"Alex, you didn't have to do that. How'd you even have the time?" Bryce asked calmly.

"It was really close. You actually put it on?" Alex gestured to the watch pathetically wrapped around his claw. Bryce held it up like he had a wedding ring on.

"I still don't think this does anything. It's just a watch."

"Okay, give it here" Alex pulled the watch off.

"What are you going to do with that? It's a watch." Bryce watched on as Alex put it back on Sebastian. The wound instantly started glowing brightly, sluggishly sealing itself little by little, until there was little more than a large scar on his back. His gaze traveled from the scar up to the human's face. There was nothing but a deathly-serious expression greeting him. "Just what are you?"

"I'm not anything. Just a guy who inherited some military stuff from his late fiancé. This-" Alex gestured to the watch. "-is one example."

At that point, a nurse came in for Bryce. He ushered Alex out while he got everything taken care of. Alex was forced to wait outside until his dragon joined once more.

"Guess I'm not drinking anymore." Bryce held up a prescription label for a moderate level painkiller. Interaction with alcohol could potentially kill him., increasing the chances of an overdose.

"Hang on a moment. You had my watch on, right? Maybe you're healed by now." Alex argued.

"Sure. A dinky little watch can heal a broken bone. Totally believe that." Bryce brushed him off like a spec of dust.

"Bryce, you just watched it seal a good sized hole in your friend's back."

"That was a flesh wound, Alex. I don't think your 'military tech' can heal a broken bone."

"Alright, tell you what. Let's make a bet." Alex began. "You wait until morning without taking a single painkiller. If you start hurting, then I'll admit I was wrong. If not, you come to my place and bring some flowers." The brunette seemed smug, almost like he knows he'll be right. Bryce still shook his hand with a sealing 'Deal'.

Bryce lounged on his comfy sofa, idly reading a magazine. He'd already skimmed through whilst looking for the good images. Now he was bored with not much else to do. Not until an alarm on his phone went off. He set the magazine down and checked it. 'Time to stop drinking', it read. He screwed off the lid and let one tumble into his hand.

'Let's make a bet. You try and make it until morning without a single painkiller. If you start hurting, I'll apologize and admit I was wrong.' Alex's words echoed in his head. Did he dare humor that crazy little man? He had to give it to that watch, it did... something. But did it even work on bones? There was only one way to find out. Did he have the guts for it...?
