Chapter 5: The Second Golden Ticket Winner
Author's Note: Hello, everyone, and welcome to Chapter 5 of Kind At Heart, where the second Golden Ticket winner will be revealed! I have a feeling that readers who read the original could guess pretty easily who will be introduced, but for those who have not, you'll find out right after review response time! :)
Turrislucidus, I'm really glad that you enjoyed the idea of Augustus being a food critic. Firstly, it was based off of a scrapped idea from A Box of Chocolates when me and MysteriousMaker1185 were developing the epilogue together, and second, I thought it would be really ironic, considering he previously ate for greed, and now he's doing it to help people, just like him being a fitness coach as well. I'm also glad you liked what I did with Willy and the songs. I never could get behind that theory, and I'm still not. I'm also glad you appreciate that I hyphenated "Oompa-Loompa" this time around. That was one thing that kinda annoyed me in the original.
Matt, thanks for your compliment on Antonio! I don't know why, but when I read "bit of alcohol coursing through my body", I imagined one of those Oompa-Loompas from the Butterscotch and Buttergin room whooping and laughing while slamming on his computer, and I couldn't stop laughing! XD As for whether Antonio's demise could change, you'll find out later on. ;) I can relate to "starting somewhere", because, as you know, I updated my low-quality chapters of Charlie's Chocolatey Adventure to be longer, and feature many more details compared to their older counterparts. As for the second Golden Ticket winner, it's finally here! Enjoy! :)
BlackIce K1lls, thanks a ton for the compliment on the new Antonio Ricci! As for the other winners, you'll find out about the second one in this chapter, and the other ones later on, and how they've changed compared to the original story. I also agree with rigging the tour. I believe that Willy took them to rooms, and the demises were just a coincidence. The evidence lies especially in the book, where Mr. Wonka would even encourage the children to not be so naughty before their respective demises. I also really enjoyed including Charlie's parents. They weren't mentioned or included in the original story, so I thought that including them would be a fun way to differentiate the two. Now, on with the story, where the second Golden Ticket winner will be revealed at last!
(Credits: Special thanks goes to MysteriousMaker1185 for helping me to edit this chapter.)
The next day, the news about Antonio spread like wildfire throughout the Oompa-Loompas of Willy Wonka's factory. Even though the air was filled with mystery and suspense, Mr. Wonka was still concerned that someone similar to Veruca would find the second Golden Ticket. The foursome were just about to find out for themselves whether or not Mr. Wonka was right to be concerned as much as he was. They were once again sitting in front of the cottage's television set as a breaking-news alert appeared on the screen.
"We now have an update on the new Golden Ticket contest," a newscaster announced. "The second Golden Ticket has now been found."
"I know that you're worried, Mr. Wonka," Charlie told his mentor, "but please give the next winner a chance. They may be better than Antonio, or they may be worse. Who knows? But like Antonio, all of these winners, whoever they are, deserve a go on the tour."
"Charlie's right," agreed Mrs. Bucket. "Everybody deserves a fair chance, no matter how they may seem at first."
"Oh alright," sighed Mr. Wonka in defeat. "If you say so."
"It was only yesterday when Antonio Ricci found the first Golden Ticket," the newscaster continued, "and the wait for the second Ticket is officially over. It has been found by a girl named Yuna Sayuki from Tokyo, Japan."
"Yuna, hm?" said Mr. Wonka, smiling and stroking his chin with a gloved finger. "That's a nice name."
"It's a much more appealing name than Veruca, that's for sure!" Mr. Bucket joked, causing peals of laughter to break out among the group.
"Her name reminds me of that one video game series," Charlie remarked. "What was it? Final Fantasy?"
"I believe so," Mr. Wonka responded, "although I don't know much about video games. Let's see how Yuna stacks up against Antonio, shall we?"
Her interview was being held in a house that was made almost entirely out of glass. She could be seen standing in between both of her parents, holding her Golden Ticket in her right hand for everyone to see, and the three of them were in front of a highly polished glass wall, which reflected the blinding camera flashes coming from all around her like a mirror.
Yuna Sayuki's ash-brown colored hair was so long that it stretched down to her shoulders. She also had violet-colored eyes, and a smile that could have rivaled Chris Davidson's had he been there. The girl was wearing a bright-red kimono with a floral pattern on it, and a similar patterned obi as well. Her mother was wearing a similar kimono, and her father was wearing an upper-class business suit.
"Yuna," one reporter asked, "can you please tell everyone around the world about yourself?"
"Certainly," Yuna Sayuki said, flashing a bright smile and showing pearly white teeth. "As you know, my name's Yuna Sayuki, and I'm ten years old. I'm also a famous child actress and model, and as such I love looking as beautiful as possible! All the fame and fortune that I get from my looks are what keeps me going, to be honest with you. As I get more attention, I get more money added on to it as well, which I donate to various charities. I also believe that I'm much prettier than everyone else, although that Antonio guy looks pretty handsome. I expect that we'll get along pretty well on the tour, even though I'm not a fan of his attitude. Vanity may seem like a bad thing to people poorer than someone like myself, but to me, it's an asset! My grandma has all sorts of wrinkles on her face, and I certainly don't want to become like her when I'm older! That's why I also use my money from acting to make my very own line of beauty products, such as facial cream, lotion, and shampoo, among other kinds, so that even people less fortunate than I am can follow the same lifestyle that I do."
"Is there anything that you'd like to say about your daughter?" another reporter asked, putting a microphone close by Mrs. Sayuki.
"While I agree with my daughter always wanting to look her best," Mrs. Sayuki remarked, "I don't think that being an actress would be the best path for her to showcase her talents."
"I agree with my wife," Mr. Sayuki said. "That's why I encourage my daughter to attend various beauty contests throughout Japan. But no matter what I try, she never seems to be happy doing so. She just goes on her own and signs up for more and more movie roles, missing many potential contest opportunities along the way."
"I'd like to ask what you do, Father," said Yuna Sayuki sarcastically. "I make more money than you do, that's for sure. You just live off the money that me and Mother make."
Mr. Sayuki chuckled as a bunch of reporters around him were asking if the accusation put forward against him was truthful.
"Of course not," Mr. Sayuki answered. "I'm the one that's always driving my daughter to her contests, since my wife is typically busy doing modelling work of her own. That sure is a lot of hard work in the long run, isn't it? After all, if Yuna never participated in those beauty contests of hers, we wouldn't nearly have as much fame as we do have now."
Yuna turned to her parents, about to say something, but she only sighed. Turning back around to face the sea of reporters around her, she smiled and put a hand on her hips, trying her best to look better for the cameras.
"Sorry about that," Yuna apologized as one reporter put a microphone in front of her, about to ask her a question.
"That's alright," the first reporter reassured her. "Can you tell us how you won your Golden Ticket?"
"Sure," Yuna grinned. "I spent about one million yen that I saved up throughout my acting career, as well as those beauty contests, on Wonka Bars, and had them all delivered to my house. Once I got them all inside, since my parents refused to help me, I sat for hours unwrapping thousands upon thousands of them, until I finally found my Golden Ticket! I certainly deserve it, being the prettiest soul around and whatnot, wouldn't you agree?"
"Charming!" the reporter said. "What did you do with all the chocolate, by the way, once you were all done?"
"I did eat a few of the Wonka Bars," Yuna replied, "but I put the rest of them away in the freezer so that they'd stay fresh. I plan on eating a few more, but I'm going to give the rest of them away to poor people who deserve them more than I do."
"I don't understand why Yuna does these kinds of things," frowned Mrs. Sayuki. "In my eyes, poor people are just jobless losers who need to get a life! They also look extremely ugly, and certainly not someone who I'd want to date, had I not already been married to my beautiful husband over here."
"Quite right," Mr. Sayuki agreed. "As I stated earlier, my wife works as a fashion model, and she's happy with it, so I have no clue why Yuna isn't. I honestly prefer modelling to acting as well, because if you're born with the kind of looks that my daughter has, you just need to take advantage of them, while acting requires hard work and talent. I also agree with her on her stance of poor people, but then again, she did spend her own money on the bars, so if she wants to waste it on something like that, I won't say anything. My lovely wife also gets love letters in the mail from all sorts of fans all over the world, which only adds to our fame and fortune. She's the true definition of accomplishing your dreams, and I want Yuna to grow up to be like her, but she's just so stubborn for a reason that I can't understand."
"At least with acting, I get to be creative," Yuna murmured. "With modelling, I just stand in the same pose for hours and hours."
"Excuse me if I'm interrupting," a third reporter said, turning to Yuna, "but do you have anything that you'd like to say to Charlie and Mr. Wonka as well to close off our interview?"
"It's quite alright," Yuna smiled, turning back to face the reporters. "Now, what would I like to say? I'm so happy to be visiting Wonka's factory, and I can't wait to meet the two in person! I'm also not really a fan of my parent's actions, so I hope that one of them learns a thing or two during the tour, kind of like how Veruca Salt's father fell down after her into the garbage chute. But I digress. Charlie and Mr. Wonka, if you're watching this," she smiled happily, turning to directly face a camera in front of her and waving her Golden Ticket in the air as if she was flagging a taxi, "I say...sayonara!"
Mr. Wonka turned off the television.
"Compared to Antonio, she doesn't seem too bad," Charlie remarked. "She gives away things to charity, which is much better than being rebellious and disobedient."
"I do agree with that," Mr. Wonka replied, "but I'm noticing another worrying trend at the same time. Yesterday, Jasir told me that the first emperor of Rome was named Augustus, adding onto his previous similarity, and Yuna buying tons of Wonka Bars sort of reminds me of Veruca, and she even mentioned her in her interview. At least she did the work of unwrapping them by herself."
"I do agree with Mr. Wonka," Mrs. Bucket said, "although I do think that Yuna's parents are at fault here as well. Not only are they total snobs, but they also seem to be manipulative, although they might just be just a tad too pushy."
"That could be a possibility," said Charlie. "They could be manipulative, but it would be unfair to judge them based off of a television interview. For all we know, they could just be a little too passionate about their daughter's modelling career to pay attention to her acting side, which isn't good either way."
"I agree with you son," added Mr. Bucket. "Adding onto Mary, I think that Yuna, however nice she may seem, has a pretty big flaw as well. She thinks that she's much prettier than everyone around her, and she's also quite vain. That could cause her to get into trouble during the tour if she's not watching her step."
As soon as Mr. Bucket was done talking, Mr. Wonka got up from his seat and walked towards the cottage's door once again.
"The Music Conservatory?" smiled Charlie as Mr. Wonka walked towards the Great Glass Elevator.
"The Music Conservatory," Mr. Wonka smiled back as he closed the cottage's door, leaving Charlie and Mr. and Mrs. Bucket alone to ponder what just happened.
Author's Note: That's the new version of Yuna Sayuki! For newer readers, what did you think about her? For older readers who read the original, which version of her do you like better- her original version, or the rewrite? For the newer version of Yuna, just like Antonio, I believed she didn't have any unsympathetic traits in order to make her fit the criteria of a "brat", so I decided to exaggerate her vainness from the original more, as well as give her untrustworthy parents. I also had a fun time giving Mr. Sayuki a personality as well, since he had no dialogue in the original story. Feel free to leave a review and share your thoughts about the rewrite so far, and stay tuned for the next chapter! What will happen in it? Will the third winner be introduced, or will it take a different path? Only I know! ;)
Until then,
Gabe S. :)
