Chapter 14: An Unexpected Surprise

Author's Note: Good morning, dear readers, and welcome to Chapter 14 of Kind At Heart! This was my favorite chapter to write so far, surpassing even Tyler's interview, so I hope that you'll enjoy this one! But first, let me respond to all your lovely reviews! :)

Matt, I forgive you for not reviewing the last couple of chapters. As for Tyler's interview, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I have lots planned for Kitsune and Tyler when they embark on version 2.0 of the tour, so I hope you're looking forward to that!

emeraldphan, it is quite ironic that Jenna is getting her own song! What could it be used for? You'll just have to wait and see! As for Tyler, your review inspired me for a portion of the new tour, so I hope you'll enjoy what I came up with! Now, on with the story! :D

With only two days left before the tour, tension was escalating as to who would find the last Golden Ticket. One specific person, however, had a pretty solid guess.

"I told you I was right," Elmer Slugworth remarked, pointing to a picture of Jenna Adams holding up her Golden Ticket as he was reading a newspaper. "I knew that girl would win the fifth Golden Ticket! I call it my patented Slugworth Sense, and whenever I get it, I'm always right!"

"You sure are, Elmer," Frederick Fickelgruber remarked as he and Percy Prodnose crowded around the newspaper. "Does your Slugworth Sense have any indication as to who's going to win the final Ticket?"

"As a matter of fact, yes," Elmer Slugworth grinned. "It says that the little boy next to her will win the Ticket in some way, I'm sure of it."

"What if it's wrong?" Percy Prodnose asked.

"I told you, Percy," Elmer Slugworth said, turning to face him, "my Slugworth Sense is never wrong, which means that both the little girl and her friend will visit the factory together on September 1st."

"What are you gonna do about it, Elmer sir?" Frederick Fickelgruber asked.

"Nothing," he grinned in response.

"Nothing?" Percy Prodnose asked in confusion.

"Nothing," Elmer Slugworth smirked. "Nothing to prevent them from getting in the factory, of course. I do, however, have a marvellous plan that will help us get revenge on Mr. Wonka once and for all!"

"Let's hear it," Percy Prodnose smiled, leaning in closer, and Frederick Fickelgruber copied his movement. Elmer looked around for a couple seconds in order to make sure that no one was watching them, and he began to whisper his plan in the duo's ears.

"Hehehe," chuckled Frederick Fickelgruber once Elmer was done speaking. "That's genius!"

"With that plan," Percy Prodnose laughed, "we will destroy Wonka, along with that stupid heir of his, once and for all!"

Meanwhile, back at Chris' house, the child in question was helping Jenna make preparations to get her ready to go to Wonka's factory. They were in Chris' bedroom, and the two of them were standing in front of a mirror. He was helping Jenna decide which clothes would look best on her during the tour.

"I know I'll never win a Golden Ticket," Chris sighed, "but that doesn't mean that I should let that get you down."

"Calm down, Chris," Jenna said soothingly. "I have a feeling that you will, but I don't know when. All I do know is that you deserve it."

Jenna looked straight into Chris' eyes, and slowly but surely brought her face closer to his, gripping his cheeks in happiness. Suddenly, before she could do anything, Jenna's mother walked into his bedroom, and she quickly retracted her face, which blushed red in embarrassment.

"You all ready for the tour, Jenna?" she asked. "Your father's going to take you, but other than that, I really want you looking your best for when the day comes."

"I'm all ready, Mother," Jenna answered. "Chris helped me choose my outfit!"

She blushed, and Chris tried his best to give a smile. Jenna was wearing her long, red hair past her shoulders, where it cascaded down her back as well as her chest. She was also wearing a silver necklace that had a guitar pick hanging from it, as well as a black t-shirt with Wormhole Citadel's logo on it, which consisted of a silver guitar with stereotypical spiky, metal-style letters spelling out the band's name above it. On the guitar was a flaming skull, and down the middle of this instrument was a black stripe on which this skull rested. A hand covered by deep black shadows was holding this guitar, which caused it to be tilted up and pointing to the right side. On the back of the shirt was Wormhole Citadel's tour dates, and along with that, she was wearing black nylon shorts, black socks, and black Mary Janes.

"Aw, how sweet!" Mrs. Adams chuckled. "You two look so cute together!"

Jenna looked at Chris and giggled, and Chris looked back with just a hint of a smile. Ruffling his hair playfully, Chris chuckled, and she could've sworn that his cheeks were a bright shade of red.

"Let's show the rest of your family your outfit, shall we?" Jenna's mother smiled. "And let's not forget Chris' family, either."

"Alright!" Jenna exclaimed happily, gripping her best friend's arm, nearly knocking him off his feet. "Let's go, Chris!"

Jenna zipped past her mother, once again causing Chris to nearly trip her as he ran past. Mrs. Adams chuckled, then slowly closed the bedroom door behind her, following the duo to the kitchen where everyone was waiting.

When they opened the kitchen door, Chris and Jenna saw everyone from both of their families gathered around the large table in the room. Chris' mother had long, straight brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt which had Wonka's logo on it, complete with his signature curly "W", along with skinny blue jeans and black socks. Chris' father also had spiky black hair and blue eyes just like his son, and he was also wearing a black t-shirt with Wonka's logo, and brown corduroys with black socks. Similar to Jenna, he had a necklace around his neck as well, but this one contained a silver pendant which was, of course, in the shape of Wonka's signature "W."

Jenna's mother was wearing the same clothes she had on during her daughter's interview, and her father had his hair neatly combed to one end. He was wearing a Wormhole Citadel shirt as well, along with tan shorts and brown sandals. James' hair was somewhat combed, about halfway, and he wore a Wormhole Citadel shirt like the rest of his family (except for Isabelle), as well as his signature boots. Isabelle's hair was tied together with an orange hair clip, and she was wearing her orange dress and pointy-toed shoes.

"Took you long enough!" she joked as Jenna nearly dragged Chris into the room at this point. "We've been waiting ten minutes!"

"Sorry, Chris was helping me choose my clothes to wear on the tour!" Jenna smiled as Chris panted, completely exhausted by Jenna's running. "What, am I too fast for ya?" she giggled jokingly at Chris as he patted her back happily.

"You look simply metal, Jenna!" James smiled.

"Thanks so much, James!" Jenna responded, then she smirked at her big brother with a knowing look on her face. "I see you finally combed your hair for once."

"I tried," he chuckled, trying to straighten it up more. "I've got to look my best for when we're standing behind the front gates watching you go in, after all."

"You look great as well, Chris!" Mrs. Davidson smiled at her son. He had his hair neatly combed, and he was wearing the same clothes that he had on the date of the announcement.

"Thanks, Mom," Chris smiled.

"You two look amazing together," Mr. Davidson chuckled. "One could think that you were in a relationship!"

Jenna looked at Chris and smiled, and Mr. Davidson said, "Don't worry! I was only joking!"

"Now," Mrs. Davidson spoke up, alerting everyone in the room, "I do believe there is something special coming up tomorrow?"

"My birthday!" Chris exclaimed, snapping his fingers. "How could I have possibly forgotten?!"

"Mr. and Mrs. Adams, we have room in our basement if you'd like," Mrs. Davidson offered. "It was recently built, so everything down there is brand-new."

"Thank you so much for your offer, Mrs. Davidson!" Mr. Adams said gratefully. "We'll gladly accept!"

"Good!" she said cheerfully, clapping her hands. "I guess that's my cue to get everything ready!"

As she was walking out of the kitchen in order to prepare their basement for the Adams' family, she turned around and said, "Now, I'd like everyone to be up bright and early so Chris can open up his presents!"

"Excuse me, Mrs. Davidson?" Jenna asked curiously, and Chris' mother turned around once more.

"Yes, dearie?" she responded.

"May I sleep with Chris, please?" Jenna asked.

"But of course!" Mrs. Davidson smiled. "You've been doing it for the past couple of days already, so why should tonight be any different?"

"Yes!" Jenna whispered triumphantly, pumping a fist into the air as Mrs. Davidson turned back around to get the basement ready.

She turned to Chris.

"This is so exciting!" she exclaimed. "I want this to be your best birthday ever! If we were back in Alabama, I'd even invite you over to my mansion, since you've never been there. Is that right?"

Chris nodded slightly, unable to come up with anything to say.

"That's a great idea, Jenna," Mrs. Adams smiled. "Maybe once the tour's over, we'll do exactly that."

"Hooray!" Jenna cheered. "This is wonderful! I can't wait!"

It was now dusk. The sun was setting, casting a beautiful golden yellow glow across the sky as Chris and Jenna put their pyjamas on and folded their more professional clothes over to the side.

"Tomorrow's a big day, right Chris?" Jenna smiled.

"It sure is," Chris grinned. "I'm very hyped up to be spending it with you, too!"

"Aww, thanks Chris!" she blushed, patting Chris' shoulder and going to the bathroom to brush her teeth before finally heading to bed. "You coming?"

"Of course," Chris smiled, gripping Jenna's hand as the two of them began the walk to his bathroom.

As the two of them walked to brush their teeth, they failed to look up in the sky. If they did, they would've noticed two very specific clouds, both shaped like the heads of two people- Mr. Wonka, and Charlie Bucket.

At the same time, in the bathroom, Chris and Jenna were brushing their teeth, just like they did before they watched the announcement. The two of them were smiling and looking into the mirror together.

"I know tomorrow will be the best day ever," Jenna smiled at Chris. "I just know it."

Chris and Jenna weren't the only ones getting ready for bed at the moment. Stephanie Perry was with her father in their break house together, and she had just finished getting her pyjamas on as well. Her father walked over by the fireplace and pulled out a large mattress in a secluded area of the room, as well as a thick blanket for the two of them to sleep under. The two of them had previously brushed their teeth via a small well behind their house, then came back inside completely exhausted.

"It sure has been a tough day, hasn't it, Stephanie?" Jack Perry said, wiping his brow.

"You said it, Dad!" panted Stephanie, taking off her gloves. She turned towards the table in the center of the room, and a Wonka Bar was on it. "I'm just going to have my bedtime snack, then I'll meet up with you soon!"

"Alright!" Jack said, getting under the blanket. "Good night!"

"Good night!" Stephanie responded as she looked back at the Wonka Bar, slowly rubbing her fingers over the wrapper as it made a crackling sound. "Well, here goes."

First, she peeled off the outer layer of paper. Then, she peeled off the tinfoil. What she saw absolutely shocked her.

It was a Golden Ticket.

Author's Note: Woah woah woah- Stephanie with the seventh Golden Ticket, and a cliffhanger?! What could possibly happen next? Will the tour be changed forever? Will Chris even get to go on it with Jenna? Well, all I'll say is that the answer will be revealed tomorrow, so stay glued to your seats!

Until then,

Gabe S. :)
