I am trying my best to make a balanced schedule, but my Procrastination is going to be my writer's block.
Among many Archfeys, the Queen of Summer Court was considered to be the strongest. Her powers alone rivaled to that of Intermediate deities and if given some time, then a single Greater deity.
King Witchthorn was aware of her powers and her connections. She held the respect of many Archfeys as well as the rivals amongst the Immortals of Mystra. She had been the Queen of the Archfey for a good reason, and she should be.
In front of him, stood the mage sent by her. And he could tell that this person was anything but a normal mage.
The smell of Feywild was evident on him. Was he a resident of that world? Witchthorn could not tell. But he was assured that the man named Suzuki Satoru was a capable person. He might be tge only person who could save his wife.
Coming back to reality, the Archfey of Kryptgarden watched the mage sitting on an gaudy throne analyzing the map of his forest.
"Deeping Cave is sure hidden in the deepest point of the forest. But the hobgoblin clan will be a nuisance. How strong are they?" Satoru asked.
"Not much. I mean, they are talented warriors, but even then, they can be handled well if we catch them by surprise. However, if they alerted her, then..."
"...then your wife's life will be in danger. I know that." Satoru ended his sentence with an understanding tone.
Witchthorn nodded at his words. He did not want to pull her wife into this mess. As long as she was safe, he would not mind if the person he was dealing with was an undead or an Archfey.
"I don't mind if you used your undead army in my forest. You are welcomed here. However, as long as the forest survives and my wife is safe, you are free to do whatever you want. I can regrow the forest with my wife again. So, it should be fine." The archfey assured him with a calm voice, yet his inner insecurities were churing his stomach.
When Satoru showed himself as an undead mage, King Witchthorn thought that he was pulling a prank. After all, how come an undead had gotten the interest of Queen Titania? How did an undead get the presence of a fey, especially on the level of an Archfey? Even the warlocks who made pact with the Titania were not this strong.
This only meant that Satoru was her oldest and most trusted ally. And she directly asked him to aid him. This level of power for just a meager task of rescuing her wife was an astounding part from her side. He mentally thanked her and decided to throw a welcome party in his forest once all this be resolved.
"It that is the case, then I will show my full power here. All you have to do is bring back all the feys and thus forest creature away from the battleground. Me and my undead army will handle them. And I will personally bring back your wife safe and sound." His words alone had such a confidence that Witchthorn had no choice, but to belive him instead.
He had already sent them the Message to leave their respected area and come here at the outpost created by this mage, Satoru.
Speaking of outspost, this tower was created by his spell at the borders of the Krptygarden forest. The Zastruss' clan would not be able to cover this part as the Deeping Cave was at opposite end of the forest.
His thoughts came to halt again when Satoru asked him a rather interesting question.
"By the way King Witchthorn, I have question for you."
"Hmm yes, ask away."
"How come you and Titania speak in Japanese? Your lip movement did not match your words. Amy good reason for that?"
Witchthorn blinked in surprise. But he decided to give away his answers nonetheless.
"To be honest with you, the feys in general can only speak in Sylvan, Goblin, Elvish and sometimes the common tongues. But as an Archfey, we sometimes use spells or innate abilities to translate verbal languages." He replied, though he asked his question to Satoru.
"Lord Satoru..."
"No, there is no need to use any Lord in my name... just call me Satoru."
"Un, okay. I have some questions regarding you. Can you please answer them?"
"It depends on the type of questions you are asking. But, I will do my best to fulfill your curiosity."
With the affirmation of Satoru, the archfey asked.
"I am sensing some fey presence over you. Are you by any chance, a fey, or an Archfey himself?"
The question caught Satoru off guard, but he elaborated his answer. "No. Not really. I am an undead. My race us called an Overlord. And what do you mean by the presence of fey? I do have traversed through the Feywild, but I don't think I am a fairy."
His answers came straight, but it still left many questions unanswered. So, he changed them while telling him about his fey presence.
"I see. About this fey presence, you are exuding a very charismatic presence like how an Archfey do. It is both scary and charming, so I thought you as such. Well, there is also the possibility that I thought you as Titania's warlock. But maybe you are not under her pact."
This kind of reassuring and disappointing revelation for Witchthorn. Reassuring because now he could speak with Satoru as an outsider, and disappointing because he was not the closest ally or had the pact of Titania. She just sent a random guy to help him than her closest ally.
However, he noted that Satoru was shifting at his throne and his lower jaw was opening and closing.
"Satoru, are you fine?"
"Uh yeah. It just... I don't know how to say this, but I may have been in a pact with her. I just forgot."
"Huh? You forgot?!"
So that was a prank. And here he thought that Titania left him with an undead mage who had the presence of feywild. He had to admit that Satoru had managed to fool him. But this time, he decided to check the truth of his words.
"Can you give me an evidence to believe you? Apologies if I sound rude to you. But I want to be rest assured that you indeed working under her." This time, Witchthorn decided to look threatening. And it seemed that his subtle threat worked.
"Fine then." Satoru nodded and put his right hand in her left robes and took out a scroll.
The scroll had the royal seal of Summer Court, with the golden edges and the alluring odour of flowers.
While he was about to call it another trick, Witchthorn could sense the very same presence of Queen Titania. Not only that, the scroll was the physical representation of Satoru's pact with Titania. He was officially a warlock of the strongest Archfey.
Satoru put the scroll back in his inventory.
"Will that suffice?"
"Yes. That should be alright. I believe in you."
"That's good to hear. Can you please leave me for a while? I want some time to think of my plan."
"Of course." While Witchthorn was leaving Satoru in his room, he noticed something in his speech but did not dwell to inquire about it. It must be something personal.
Once the archfey left the room, Satoru quickly opened his status.
"[Status Report]"
A list of information about his build popped down in front of his eyes. Among them, there were some new skills and spells that he never saw before.
[Speak All Tongues] : a blessing of Titania over the warlock. It auto-translates all verbal languages instantly.
[True Vision] : a blessing of Titania over you that combines all the vision and sight based abilities along with other vision skills into one.
[High Tier Magic Immunity V] : a blessing of Feywild for surviving the influx of magic without becoming the permanent resident of the world. It nullifies all spells upto 8th tier.
These were the skills in Overlord list of skills which he obtained from Titania. He also got some few healing and resurrection spells to work around.
Satoru mentally smiled. He expected her to be like the rest of those corporates who sent their workers in an unknown place without any sort help or support. But she was different.
"Maybe she is serious on becoming my friend?"
For the first time on his arrival in this world, Satoru felt the very same warmth that his friends showed him.
"You wish to have me as your ally, huh? Well, you got one."
With a new sense of emotion, while not suppressed like the previous ones, Satoru watched the map of the Kryptgarden forest with new ideas forming in his mind.
"I will finish this mission with the best of my new and old abilities."
Seems somebody got a friend. A true one this time, unlike Jircniv.
Fun fact : King Witchthorn is an evil-aligned fairy who was thinking of joining with other evil fairies to become strong. As the adventurers he hired to protect his wife killed her instead. Leaving him devastated with nobody to rely on.
How strange that an evil necromancer can put him down before he fully embraces his evil tendencies.
