Chapter 3: survival and arrivals.
AN: sorry for the wait. It has proven more difficult to publish chapters than I thought. This site refuses to cooperate with me but i will figure it out. Again sorry. Enjoy the new chapter. Also note that tone of the story as well as chapter length will vary wildly from chapter to chapter. This because the story mostly takes place from Voltaire's point of view. There are other characters that are doing their own thing that you won't see until you see the results. Also, if it isn't obvious already, the m rating is for violence, gore, and sexual content. I own nothing but my OC's. Also, this is a harem fiction. With the storm bridging different universes together, it opens the door for unique characters and story elements. Please, give ideas for story and romance candidates in the review section and give a reason why. 1 of my choosing has already been chosen and will appear in this chapter. Please note that there are only so many spots to be filled and this story is just getting started. Ideas for future events may change upon the publishing of that chapter. Anyway enjoy chapter 3 of Protoss Overmind.

Thoughts of others/whispering Telepathically
I bit down on the first gun wielder I could get a hold of, they aren't like the other one. They were no taller than a zergling. It tasted like a mixture of meet and mushrooms. The gun it held was a ramshackle thing almost as long as it is tall. I pick it up and immediately feel some sort of energy permeating the weapon, the same energy that generates the noise when I try to use telepathy. Doesn't matter, I have a tool now. It looks almost like some sub machine guns I saw in my but scaled to 11 its magazine is a barrel mag and weighs easily 25 pounds, this was not made by them because when I look at the other guns, they look almost like revolvers and world War 1 and 2 weapons, while the close range weapons are slapped together. This gun is much more well put together. I look down the sights and pull the trigger, the green skins upper half Evaporates. I get to work.
At the same time, I see three small green skins fighting one zergling to my left. One with spear, one with sword and shield, and one with knife. I will call them spear, sword and shield, knife for simplicities sake. Spear lunges and misses when the zergling does to the side than lunges at spear and took his head off. Sword and shield tried his look and made impact, but the carapace was too hard. The zergling in turn used him and his shield as a springboard to attack knife, who was able to counterattack, but his knife broke on the carapace. The zerglings attack scythe arms slammed into his shoulders, making him scream. His screaming ended when the attack scythe arm on the left ripped out of his shoulder and punched through his head. Sword and shield turns around to run but was caught by the zergling. He didn't last long after that, his screaming lasted a little while though.
In an area against the wall to my left, a child is being chased by half a dozen small green skins were pursuing a child and her zergling, a hydralisk slithered out of a hole in the wall to engage the green skins, who had knives and axes. They stood little chance, due its combination of a pair of scythe arms and acid, venom spike launchers. The hydralisks stood easily around 10 to 12 feet in height, and thus towered over the green skins. It even uses its tail half to constrict and crush green skins. The others were hit with spikes or chopp3d to pieces by the scythe arms. One green skin disengage from the fight and went after the child. The child's zergling companion reared on its hind legs, allowing its front legs to parry with its front legs, which I now see are four fingered hand's that taper off into claws, to parry and grab onto the axe, and used both the scythe arms on its back and its tail as weapons. It then jammed a blade tip on the end of its tail into the green skin's stomach and plunged its scythe arms into its head.
With these events witnessed I turn to my self. My body was hurt, broken. But my zerg biology helped me, mended my flesh and bones. My impromptu meal helped too, but I am not yet strong enough to take on the giant green skin, but my new gun might even the odds. I fire 5 more rounds into the mass of small green skins. I do not wait to see if they die or not, but their screams tell me that they were hit at least. If this is truly a projectile weapon like I think it is, then the ammunition is extremely limited. I turn to giant green skin fighting Taurus. Taurus stood tall, his armor battered and broken but still functional, one of the psy-blades is broken making its blade temporary while it recharges, I can see the psychic energy leaking from the gauntlet but also some small robots repairing it. He has a green void-blade ignited and pointed at the green skin. I turn my gaze to the green skin who looks worse for wear. 1 of his arms is on the ground, cut off at the elbow. His face is scarred, 1 eye and 1 tusk is missing from the left side of his face, a bladed burn mark in their place. His stomach is cut open, but where he should be disemboweled some fungus growth holds it in. The small ones are weak, but the big ones are tough if nothing else. Will need to perform a dissection of these things find out what we are dealing with, when I get the chance.
About a dozen other green skins round the hallway behind him, each with a machine gun and armor. These new green skins look like the big one but they are about as tall as a protoss zealot but their hunched stance makes that hard to tell. Their armor makes them look like iron foot ball players, their guns look like old world War 2 machines guns with a metal cage with holes in it to aid in cooling it during continuous fire. The magazines look like boxes from a fifty-caliber with chains of ammunition hanging out of it all the way to the floor. I see that the also have a "bayonet," and by bayonet I mean a giant fuck-off cleaver twice as long as the barrel.
One of the green skins spoke, his tusks hitting the face cage of his helmet, which has horns and a metal Mohawk, making dinging sounds as he speaks. "Oi. You mangy newbie gits. When 's you gonna learn, this fancy ship….is green!" The green skin shouts, then shouts at his comrades. "Come on Boyz, let's give these mangy gits a proper ork welcome! AND GIVE THEM A PROPER FIGHT!" He raised his gun in the air started firing into the air, their tracers lighting up the alley and revealing a bridge above us. The other orks do the same, even the big one raised his saw axe, all roaring "WAAAAAGH!" I take this opportunity to shoot the big ones hand and missed. The so called orks turned to me with their eyes glowing red. I shoot a few more times and one of the orks fall. The orks return fire, their millions of tracers going everywhere but me. These guys don't have very good aim, but they shoot a lot of projectiles. I charge forward firing my gun. Every stray projectile could mean a dead civilian. As I get closer, my aim gets better. One of my projectiles his an ork in the chest, his chest blows open not even a millisecond later. Explosive rounds, neat.
Taurus charges the closest ork he can find, he then pulls the orks gun down and stabs him through the skull with his psy-blade. The ork drop like a sac of rocks. It seems the head is the weak point. I can't see anything else as the big chops through one of his friends to strike at me horizontally. At this point I hear "For the protoss zerg people, support Hierarch Taurus and Hybrid Voltaire." As half a dozen zealots and a stalker arrive, but I can't focus on where they are coming from, I got a giant ork to deal with. I shoot him a couple times and watch his flesh crater thanks to the explosive rounds. "Gah, stupid tiny git." The ork said. Another orc strikes me from the back with his cleaver than grabs my nerve chords and holds me in the air with them. To say that the experience was painful is an understatement, but from my new "vantage" point I can see that one of Taurus girls has been nocked down, holding a wound on her stomach, purple blood oozing through her fingers. The little girl is being held in the same way that I am. "MOTHERS! FATHER! HELP ME!" I hear her scream….at the woman and Taurus. He's a father. Will question him later. Right now, the ork who has me forgot that I still have a gun.
I fire 3 rounds, 1 in his stomach, 1 in his chest, and 1 in his throat. All three blow out, would love to inspect the insides but I have a job to do. I take his gun and rush the ork with the girl. I throw my gun at him and use the orks gun as an axe, I'm not willing to risk a projectile hitting the girl. My gun hits his head making him look at me his widen in surprise. He drops the girl and raises his guns, he squeeze the trigger even before it is even raised. My "axe" chops through his head and halfway through his chest, but his tracers rip through my leg and lower belly. The pain is immense, I drop to the ground. Thoughts….difficult. Pain. Pain. "Lord Voltaire, stay awake." I hear a voice from heaven and look up. It is the girl I saved. "Who are you?" "I am Vess'ara. Daughter of Hierarch Taurus, and was to be your consort before we were boarded." She then starts to create some sort of energy sphere. It starts to heal me. That spot on my head tingles. "What do you mean by consort?" I ask as I heal. She responded. "it was believed that because you are a mix of protoss and zerg, you would have a strong sexual drive. The council decided that you should have someone or someone's to stand by your side and bear your progeny." I start to feel better and I look around. I see protoss and zerg are fighting the orks, and saw that my gun is within reach. "What do you mean by sex drive and progeny?" I ask. I grab my gun. "Well Ash'ner and Zahra evolved to have such a thing and together they started to reproduce. Most of the zerg here are their progeny." I knew it. "Damn they must be promiscuous, then." She giggled. "Yes, they are. But they also made you." No wonder they acted like my parents. It is because they are my parents. I see the big one get shot by the stalker and take a couple steps back, towards us. I grab Vess'ara, bring her close to my chest, and raise my gun. I empty the clip, and immediately fire all 13 shots left into his back. The recoil damn near breaks my arm and leaves it numb. One shot hits what I think is a spine, and 3 hits his head. He falls forward and throws his axe at the stalker that shot him. It blinked away. I release Vess'ara. She has a purple blush. "Sorry. But it is not safe we need to go." I say and reign in my curiosity as I try to stand. "Wait! You are not healed from that last attack nor the fall. The others will protect us. Let me finish." I watch Taurus and his zealots, all of whom have fully enclosed suits of armor clearly meant to protect them shields fail, eviscerating the orks. I crouch down "Alright. Finish both the healing and your story."
"Well." She continues "After they made you and waited for to hatch they began reorganizing our society and searching for a homeworld. They also used a human mind simulation thing to help give basic education so that you could open us up to new ideas to aid us in our future ahead." She said as she starts to finish. Taurus comes and speaks "Great. Your caught up. Kind of need to prevent the apocalypse." "Yeah. Not really the time for Exposition but doctors orders and getting healed is boring. Hey do you have a weapon that I can use, mine is kind of spent." I say as I hold up my gun. He observes me and says "I did not think that you could use such a weapon, it seems the human education worked out. Here I have a pole arm for you." He pulls out a small ornate tube, with a protoss thumb sized symbol that might be a button, on what I assume to be the top. Is this a lightsaber? What do you know it, was a button but not a lightsaber. He held it horizontally and pressed the button. What it is however is a long pole with a golden axe head at the top, the axe head is just a fancy cross with spear like thing at the top and cube-like things on either side that project curved energy blades out of both the top and bottom of these spots. "It has it's own power cell until you can power it yourself." He said. As I grabbed a hold of it, I noticed that it was heavy and had a battery looking thing near the top. Each energy blade is blue likely to represent the four different protoss here.
We travel out of our little alcove and observe the city proper to get a sense of our situation. It was not good. All across the city shape was fighting, and in the ceiling at 30 degree angle, kind of, was the giant green face. What made it worse were tracer rounds from countless machine gun emplacements across the damned things surface are shooting into the city and just about everything that can be shot at is being shot at. A couple tracers pass us by I shield Vess'ara from debris. In the city proper, it ain't much better. Tracers from orcs shooting at things or just shooting into the air just to shoot their guns. Giant robots, each one varying wildly in size, with the same or similar face as the ship on their heads are stomping through the city and unloading every weapon that looks bolted on to them into anything that they feel like. Blood red ships that look like old world War 2 war planes and things that look like eggs with the face, jet engines, a dozen random crap attached to them like crains and such flying around leaving black smoke trails dog fighting our fighters. Buggies, cars, and trucks are driving around the city with machine guns mounted on them shooting everything in site. And finally there appears to be a fortress that is going built under the ship that is constantly moving and….playing music. (Insert orc Waaagh banner music by StringStorm here on repeat for the duration of this fight). Everyone else is fighting in individual skirmishes, with our side having the advantage in the smaller fights but in some other areas it is just a mob fest where I can't tell who is winning or losing. Overall, it's not good.
I gesture my axe towards the city around me and say "OK. Well. This is bad. Taurus! I need you to find someone to pilot this city ship towards the nearest planet we can find. They are tearing this city apart or else we be either floating in space or falling, and no one wants that. Especially nnot8n this storm. Then I need you to get some sort of mass communication device and see if you can get everyone organized enough to destroy our enemy. I will jump into fray and help where I can. I will organize who I can but I have more faith in you than I do myself right now. We need to get this under control before the denizens of the storm take notice as soon as possible Also get her to safety." I don't give him time to respond as I jump and climb down to join the fight. I didn't feel like stating just how much time we might or might not have.
I jumped off the wall and landed in a skirmish between orks and protoss zerg. The orks have several walking machines that look like cans with arms and machine guns. Unlike the larger walkers these seem to be fairly uniform. They are all painted yellow with 2 arms, 2 legs, and 2 machine guns. One arm has a type clipper/scissors type of thing on the left arm and a giant saw on the right while the guns are closer to the hips. There is also a larger variant with the main difference being that the guns are on smaller arms and are closer to the top. As I approach 1 such skirmish, I watch in horror as a zealot engage the big one, he sliced its face until its clipper arm grabbed his arm. It then was swarmed by 6 zerglings who bit and clawed at it to free their comrade. They failed. It let a small green skin out of the top who started shooting zerglings. They could not stop when it brought its gun arm down and shot the zealot's eye out. Then it brought its saw arm down sawed him in two. I could hear his screaming as he died and his life essence flew into the air as blue energy, his purple blood coating the ground and blade. Its clipper hung him in front of its face, as if to admire its work, than the clipper cut his arm. And then let the body drop in three pieces. Its little green friend was dead and only two zerglings are dead. The rest, having witnessed their comrades demise, renew their assault with new fury, but it flails about like a child throwing a tantrum. The energy that fills its construction is unleashed like a nova, the zerglings are torn to shreds. I land on top of the big robot and cut off one of its gun arms and jumped off towards its back when it tried to cut me with its saw arm. I then chop its leg but it is more durable than it looks. The leg is damaged but not destroyed. "isolate us, this one is mine."
"You head him, don't let them interfere." A zealot says as they and zerg surround us, isolate us, and kill everything else. I turn to the machine. It says "You stupid git, taste my dakka!" it raises its gun arm and shoots wildly in my general direction. I dodge and evolve a bio-spike to shoot from my wrist. I shoot into the eye and hear someone scream. It swings it arms wildly. I rush forward and "disarm" it's remaining gun arm. I am forced to dodge its blade arms and back pedal as it waddles forwards towards me, trying get a grip on me. It's saw blade was still dripping with protoss reaches for me along with the clipper arm. It honestly reminds me of zombie and baby in a way, but it is something that must be destroyed in order to protect my people, the….we really need a name. Its clipper (it acts more like pincher than a clipper but it's more sharp) reached for me but I used my axe to knock it away and close the distance. It's saw arm shot out and made a deep cut on my arm but I got what I wanted. I slid between its legs, slicing as I go, and hit the mass of pipes that was its back. Something ignited as it started to bleed some liquid, that was on fire, and the fire was spreading. It flailed about as it burned. It fell and failed even harder, then it exploded. I was sent flying.
I landed painfully and held my arm. I felt the wind heal when I wanted the pain to end. Interesting, wanting pain to end a day wounds to mend forces my zerg biology to do exactly that. "Interesting, this creature is not a wraith or a corrupted. Its aura is different." I heard a voice say, but it wasn't in my head. I turn my head to the source of the voice and see a little ghost girl a scared woman. "Interesting indeed." I responded. "You are not what I was expecting to see when I landed. Who are you." I say. Just from a quick, the little girl has a plain medieval dress while the women is wears an eye patch on right eye, her outfit looks like a mix between a fetish outfit and heavy armor. The little girl gasps and recoiled. "It speaks in my head. Briar! It speaks in my head!" the girl speaks and I rise from my position on the floor and get a better look. The girl is gray/white in color and is slightly transparent. The white of her eyes is black around a silver pupil. Her hair is chin length and was fairly neat. Her legs were gone, replaced by a tail/trail. All in all, classical ghost But kinda cute. The woman, however, gave off many mixed signals. Her armor was functional, her torso armor covered the entirety of her torso and even had an armored skirt. Her left arm is completely covered in an armored sleeve with a clawed gauntlet on her hand and a big pyramid like pauldron, like Taurus but not made of the same material, on her shoulder. Her right arm left completely bare save for some bandages. Her leg armor starts at her knees and goes down to her feet and ends in high heels. Under her armor I see she wears primitive clothes. I can't see her shirt, if she wears one at all, but I can see her pants. Her right leg is completely covered but her left leg is left exposed all the way up. Her hair is mess of shoulder length blond that goes below her eye brow with tufts of hair oriented to the left. Her actual eye, itself, is silver. She has scars everywhere but the most prominent ones that can be seen are on her face. She has one scar on her jawline and one on her nose, but she is fairly attractive. The woman, Briar, says "Get back Lute. We don't know what he is." She pulls out a big sword as tall as she is and points it at me.
I raise my hand. "Wait. I don't want to hurt you, but you came here during an extremely trying time right now and I need to know right here, right now. Are you friend or are foe. Because we need more friends and less foes right now." I feel something behind me and look to see a hooded figure being chased by invisible things. "Layton!" both girls shout. I can feel those things they are a mix of the stuff in the storm and….essence. I rush forward and grab Layton and push him towards the girls. "Wait. You can't" I hear part of what Lute shouts but I focus on the essence. It tries to draw my essence out but I reverse the flow and consume the entity. It tries to shift and change me but I separate the energies and expel the foreign energy. The moment the other entities see this they flee through the walls and out into chaos. My body evolves. I realize that my sudden psionic abilities are because of my spike in brain activity and adrenaline. Now I no longer need to rely on others to start a conversation. I am also taller. My second set of mandibles disappears and human lips that can curl back to reveal a mouth full of fangs and a long tong. "What was that." A decidedly male voice said. I look at him. He is dark-skinned, balled, has tattooed dots around his face and has heavy priestly robes. He generally seems haughty and priestly."
"I consumed the entity and evolved as a result. As curious as I am about them and you but I have no time." I notice I am as tall as he is now thanks to my evolution. "You are in my peoples flying city, and we are in a storm in reality where chaos meets void. We are being attacked by green skinned creatures that are giving us more that a spot of trouble. So I will ask all of you only once." I point my axe at them. "Are you and your attractive friend and ghost friends or foes." The woman blushes slightly at being called attractive but the ghost goes to speak. "We…." The priest interrupted her. "By the keepers. If you can consume the wraiths, than humanity" I stop him by hitting him on the top of the head. He is shocked by this. "If you wish my help with those things than help me save my people we." But I was I interrupted by "Oi. Where did you go you stupid git. Come out for proper krumpin. You stupid git." "Speak of the devil and he shall appear." A giant orc and a dozen other orcs follow the trail I blazed in my landing. I charge my enemy with my axe raised. I hear the others speak and discuss what they should do, until they decide something I will operate like I have no support. The big orc, who I noticed has more "decorations" on his armor along with some armor pieces that others don't have. One of his unique armor pieces is a neck thing that goes around his shoulders that mimics the heavy under bite these guys have. Since no one else I've seen has that kind of armor, he is either an extremely accomplished warrior or a member of the leadership. Given what I have observed of this species so far, probably both.
Since I don't have support at the moment, I decide to ruin the command structure. It raises a wicked looking axe that looks like it has teeth bolted onto the axe blade at me, and his minions charge me in return. I bring my axe to the side, and when the first ones get in range I use a spin attack. I do 3 spins before I start to feel dizzy and stop. I spear my axe into the floor and look around as the dizziness quickly passes. There were a dozen orcs to start with, 3 are now dead, 2 more are injured. But given what I have seen of their toughness, those injuries may not hinder them. The cuts were deep, and I could see bone, but I've Seen some of these guys get disemboweled and still fight. I take a defensive stance with my axe speared into the floor. One of the orks charges me shouting "Waaaaagh!" I swing my axe up at him, sending molten metal into his face. He screams but I can't find him off, because of his friends decided to charge as well. I slash 2 apart with individual swings, one was one of the injured ones. The3rd swing resulted in my axe being grabbed and me tackled by an orc. I Immediately go into survival mode and elbow him in the face and push him by the throat against a wall. I use my fingers to spear through his face, I feel his brain in my fingers. Another orc to my right slams the wrong side of an axe into my right shoulder and I hear something Crack, but I am acting on adrenaline right now so I don't feel it right now. I shove his axe aside and use my claws to take half his head off. I'm certain that I broke some fingers on both hands but I don't have time to worry about that right now. I immediately rush to the one who has my axe stab my hand under his ribcage and grip his heart. I rip it out and grab my axe. The big one grabs me the arm, lefts me up, and punches me in the stomach. That punch hits harder than any blow I have incurred thus far by far. I am thrown to the ground and immediately surrounded by the remaining 4 minion orks, who immediately begin beating me with their axes. The wounds accumulate, and I am too hurt to mount a proper counterattack. I can only weakly swing my axe in the vain hope I get lucky or deflect a blow. But I am losing blood. All I hear is the howl of orks and the laughter of thirsting gods. Than it happened.
Purple energy rushed through the hall and slams into the orks, sending them all flying. I look to my saviors and see the girls. Briar was different her eye had turned into a slit, her mouth had lengthened opening up her cheeks and revealing that her teeth had become fangs. Despite her facial changes I can still see her beauty. Nothing else seemed to change about her but she was gone almost as quickly as she appeared. I can't see Lute. Layton helps me up and says "frightening that women is, isn't she?" I scoff at him. "Her? Frightening? Have you seen me?" I give him a big toothy grin. I immediately start coughing blood. Layton puts a hand on my shoulder and asks "Are you alright?" I ponder what to say. In my experience, lying bites you in the ass more often than not. I shake my head. "No. But I can heal, unfortunately we have no time. These bastards are everywhere. Every squad is engaged. This little fight here is only one of thousands across the city. If we don't drive them out, there will be nothing left to save." Layton seemed shocked by this "these foes are that strong?" instead of answering him I show him. I walk towards the hole they made and show him the war that wages in the city, the destruction and, the….Giant faces in the dome. Seems more came in. Layton is dumbfounded. He speaks "I have seen great marvels in my time, but this puts all of them to shame. Your people built this?" huh. Wonder what other marvels he's seen. Answer question now. Right. "Yes. My people. The zerg and protoss made into one people. To keep it quick, the protoss: tall, blue/gray skinned creatures with glowing eyes and no mouth. Like to build advanced technology to sublimate what they cannot do." I quickly explain pointing to one of the giant ork walking machines that is being swarmed by a dozen quadrupled protoss colossi who in turn were being harassed by ork air units. They looked like migs. "The zerg: a people that changes themselves into different types to suit different tasks." I quickly explain as a flock of bat like mutalisks, stingray like broodlords, octopus like corrupters, crab like guardians, and beetle like scourge fly to support the battling colossi. "if you can accept both sides we might be able to help you, but we must survive this first." Than we both here a shout inside of our heads "VOLTAIRE" we both hold our heads in pain. "what was that?" Layton asks. "That was my father and that is what he looks like, and my mother." I say as I see my parents and point them out. They were able to rally quite the force. My father has pulled his tendrils towards his brain to create what looks like human gray mater but I imagine is armor. He was running at the front of an army of protoss and zerg. My mother had bone wings extended and was following behind father as best she could, shooting bio spikes and lighting at every enemy in range.
They lead a massive army of protoss and zerg. He chases an orc tank around a corner but decided to just crush it under foot. A walking can, one like the one I destroyed, turned around towards him, started shooting at Abner with its melee arms outstretched. Abner, deciding that the machine was more trouble than it was worth, slams it aside with the blunt side of his left kaiser blade. It was enough to completely wreck it though. Abner continued towards a court yard with his army behind him. The courtyard was becoming a gathering point for the orks, they were gathering troops and materials. They were even building war machines from the surrounding buildings. My parents were determined to turn this gathering into a grave yard. As the army came into view of the orks, their tanks start to fire. As the first shots hit Abner's head crest, dozens of ultralisks star coming out of the city scape into the courtyard. The other sides of the courtyard start spewing zerg and protoss in a pincers maneuver. The orks were pinned and they knew it, but they fought to the end. They tried to hold them back but there were too many and had too many competent units to overcome. Abner's army washed over them like a flood. As Abner's army was dealing the killing blow, something happened. At the center of the ork formation an explosion of green lighting burst out, and one of the ork ships exploded. It's left a hole in the dome, while its face slammed into the city below, causing destruction only matched by multiple nuclear detonations. Through the hole I can see us heading towards a portal which is starting to expand as we approach. Elements of the storm are swirling into the portal like a whirlpool.
Well that's not going to cause problems later. Through the portal I can sense a world of life and power on the other side. "Father. I am above you near the edge of the city. We are heading to a portal with a planet on the other side. We will land there and figure out our next move." I broadcasted. He responded with "Understood!" before I could ask what caused the chain reaction, Briar was thrown against the corner of the opening. "Will talk to you later, must save new allies." I said as I turned to Briar. "Are you alright, pretty one?" I asked vocally. She looks at me with slight blush. "Yes, I'm hurt but I will heal. They, on the other hand, are stronger than before." I turned to her playmates and see 6 orks. The newest one looks like a twisted shaman, the top of his was covered with a transparent glass cap that showed his exposed brain. Inside his cap was a storm of green lightning swirling around his brain. He had white skull paint on his face and was wearing what looked like rags and bones for clothes. In his left hand was a staff with what looked like 2 painted ork skulls at the top, one is red while the other is blue. In his other hand was a sword. A very crude sword made of scrap. He was not that big, no bigger than the regular minion.
I could feel the unstable power coming from him. "If we kill that one, something will happen." I say as I help Briar up. "What do you mean?" the little girl, Lute, popped up out of Briar and gained a human form asked. "Do you feel the aura? His aura can make him extremely dangerous but he his horrifically unstable." I say. As if to prove my point, the ork shaman starts breathing heavily which started carrying green sparks. He then sneezed and shot a monstrous lightning bolt passed them, melting a hole into the wall. I gesture to the melted wall "See. Unstable. Let's see what happens when he dies." I charged the group. The minions charged me return. "Briar charge the minions. I go after the shaman." I say as I jump over the minions towards the chief and shaman. He unleashed his unstable power and teleported 5 dozen orcs to his location, half of them exploded upon arrival. There explosions were a mix of psionic power, blood, guts, bone, and armor. Their guns also exploded. Needless to say, this part of the city was heavily damaged. Some holes were also visible but a shield prevented explosive decompression, really any decompression of any kind. But from these holes I could feel friction beginning to occur which means one of a few things. The most likely one being that we are approaching a planet. Which also means that we are on the clock.
I move towards the shaman, trying to get to him before the others get to me. I was not successful in my endeavor. I was however able to prevent myself from being dogpiled but I was locked in a brawl with dozens of minions. They intercepted me, trapping me in said brawl. The shaman and chief were laughing at my predicament, but the chief was approaching. He probably wanted defeat me while I was distracted and he had back up. I swung my axe around me to keep myself from being dogpiled. I killed half a dozen orks with that tried to do so. Now I have to worry about melee weapons from all sides. But I had back up too. Briar came out of nowhere and moved so fast that she seemed to teleport, slicing orks in half as she went. She once teleported next to me. I worried that she would attack for a moment but she stopped got close and then was gone. Pillars of light began to appear and a nydus worm broke through the wall, what's left of it anyway. That poor wall has taken a beating, not like the rest of the city is doing much better. Layton who was closest to the worm shouted "What?! More enemies?!" I responded with "No! They are my reinforcements." I then spoke to the incoming allies. "Come brothers, let's finish these fools."
The chief green skin shouts "You bloody stupid gits! This place is GREEN!" then he charged. He swung his toothy axe at me, I grabbed an orc next to me and put him in my place. I was covered in his guts a moment later. My heart was pounding in my ears and I could feel my own pulse in my veins. I have been so focused on helping my people that I've been blocking out how close I was to death. But I can't stop now. I smother my instinct to run to run and continue my fight. I jump up to avoid a horizontal slash from the chief, who killed more of his own allies. Friendly fire is apparently acceptable to these guys. I disengaged when a stalker struck the chiefs shoulder and made a beeline towards the shaman. Said shaman raised his staff, one of the skulls glowed orange with red eyes and dozens more minions appeared around me. A giant, green, transparent, and armored ork materialized out of the air. It was easily as tall as my dad and had an orange fire ball in his mouth glowing red eyes. It raised one of its feet and made to stomp on me, but before it could do so, Briar appeared grabbed me, and brought me out of the way. I was a little dizzy but with my technique to help it I was still able to see the results. The boot slammed down into the floor, causing green lighting and cracks to spider web out from the impact site. Then the green giant dematerialized, as if he never existed. I think that 65% of the green skins were killed by that attack. I then noticed that we were closer to the shaman than what I was before. I requested "Briar, can you help me kill the shaman?" She didn't respond but she disappeared from my side.
The next moment she was slashing his back. He turned around, and shot green lightning bolts at where she once was. She dodged but then kneeled down, Lute reappeared and Briar got back to her feet, she did look more human however. That form must require them to combine, and must take lot of energy to maintain. If that is the case, then it is my turn. I charge noisily, screaming as you do, to draw his attention away from Briar. I was certain of her ability to block lighting, wasn't really sure about mine either but I know I am capable of it. He turned towards me and threw some of his friends corpses at me. I cut threw a few but was buried. It would only take a moment to break free, but it was a free moment for him to do something. He chose to attack me, and was impaled on Briar's massive sword as a result. I threw the pile of bodies away from myself and resumed my charge. I picked up some equipment and skidded it across the floor, hopping to trip him up. He slammed his staff on the piece of metal and kicked it away then resumed his sword fight with briar. Lute seemed to be throwing energy blasts at him, keeping him off balance and him from casting. Anything he casts gets redirected to somewhere else. I continued my charge, sprinting as fast as I could. Lute could block the energy projectiles but all he needed was to get lucky once. When I reached them he vomited up some green flame, which Lute blocked. When he stopped, Lute screamed "no! I'm fading away! I can't leave Briar alone." The shaman laughed and was about to say something but I interrupted him with an axe to the shoulder. I see Lute turn into a large mote or small ball of love that floated close to her sister. I say "you sister will never be alone again, especially if she stays with us." I then used my fingers to spear through his cap Into his brain. I could feel the unstable energy travel up my arm, along with some of his essence. He teleported a few feet away and started to float, spin, and scream. Several of his comrades were struck by the green lightning that shot out of him. Some of them started floating and screaming too, some just exploded, others were just thrown every which way. He finally exploded in a wash of psionic energies. The section of the city-ship was already compromised and we separated from the rest of the ship. I shielded Briar.
Our section still had some gravity and stabilizers so everyone was not sent flying. "grab the other human and….do something. We're falling now." Briar looked up at me "what do you mean we're falling?" "exactly that. Is there some sort of crash bunker or something?" I responded to Briar and ask some of my comrades. He responded telepathically "no, but there is a section that might let us survive this. There's a nursery nearby. We must hurry." "good. Briar this way." I respond vocally. To her a d Layton I say "we're falling but we can survive. Follow us." The protoss and zerg lead us to the nursery. Some sections of the hallways that we were in started to peel away revealing the sky around us. At one point, the hallway was stripped so badly that one wrong step would spell your doom. The wind and heat wasn't helping either. We finally reached the nursery doors with only a quarter of the forces that came to my aid. We entered to see drones and probes frantically trying to keep the structure stable and the occupants safe. Upon seeing us they tried to pull us in. When we were inside we hunkered down and prayed.
RARE POV SHIFT
An elf girl was sitting just outside a tower, checking her bow and arrows. Her glowing blue eyes and long eyebrows scrunched up in either concentration or worry. A voice suddenly spoke up behind her. "Sylvanas Windrunner, what do you think that you are doing?" The elf girl's, now named Sylvanas, ears twitched as she turned b3hind her to behold an older elf women with 3 other girls around her age coming out of the tower doors. "Mother. Sisters. I am getting ready to go on patrol. Those shooting stars have been dropping from the sky more frequently lately and there are rumors that creature have been coming out of them." She told her family. Her sisters gave her puzzled expressions while her mother gave her an intense frown, her glowing brighter in an intimidating display of both maturity and anger. "I don't believe that you should know of that yet. You might one of our best rangers right now, but you are not general yet. Thus, this is beyond you." She said with a hard voice. "But mother. If these rumors are true then Quel'Thalas may be under threat. Alleria, Vareesa, Lirath tell her." Sylvanas spoke desperately. Something in the air has been bothering her for the past few days, and that new purple star hasn't been helping. It just appeared one day and no one knows why it's there, how it got there, nor what it is doing there. She has been in contact with a mage friend for the past few days trying to figure out what it is. So far she has deduced that it is a portal of some sort. During the past day or so the star has been flashing erratically and has been shooting objects towards the planets with alarming frequency. The flashes, as her friend Faith Moonstone had determined, were coming from inside the purple star. "Sister, we believe you but we don't know anything for certain yet. We must wait." the middle sister Vareesa said. She had a point. As she was about to retort , her mother raised her hand to stop her. "I cannot stop you but I must implore you take your sisters with you. And….that…..mage with you. She may be of common blood, but her skills with magic are almost a the top royal wizards. As loathe I am to admit it she will be useful to you." This shocked her. Her mother detested her affection for the young mage. "She us just a peasants" her mother had said. It infuriated her but that is what she gets for being high born. At least she doesn't need to suggest it. "Very well mother, I will gladly take…." Her smug remark was I interrupted by what feels like the world shaking. Everyone looked up and saw the purple star flash brightly and erratically, more than usual. The fact that it can be seen during the day was alarming enough. Then it flashed brighter then even the sun. Everyone covered their eyes and increased their brightness to help fight the intensity.
When the brightness finally faded everyone looked up at the star. "What was that?" Lirath asked. No one had an answer. The rumble subsided slightly but is picking up again. Then the star flashed again for a second and released a Shockwave that disrupted both space and light visibly. Something shot out of it. An object. A massive object. They all saw its contrails as it flew threw the sky over the horizon, dropping a lot of debris all the while. Everyone could feel when it landed the world seemed to shake even worse than before. A flash of flame, a hole in sky revealing night formed and started to expand, and a mushroom cloud bigger than anyone could possibly imagine erupted from the horizon. Everyone thought that it was the end of the world, than an eruption of blue and green lightning seemed to erupt from the crash site. It seemed to reach up wrap around past the mushroom cloud and close the hole in the sky than physically pull the mushroom cloud back into the ground. The mushroom cloud seemed to morph into a head. It seemed to be the head of a creature that no one had ever seen before. It had a massive lower jaw with tusks coming out and pointy ears, not nearly as long as theirs but still. It was also made up of the green lightning. It looked up towards the star and let out an earth shattering scream. The blue proceeded to drag it into the ground, the creatures head deformed until it was gone. The blue lightning then shot out towards the purple star and seemed to draw purple energy towards its base. It released a small flash then everything stopped. The purple star stopped flashing and dimmed a bit, the shaking stopped, and the world went on. "Ana'Belore" everyone said.
