A little while later, Sonic and Sally retired to their quarters. The servants had taken all of the gifts they received to the babies' room which had been decorated earlier. Sally stood in the middle of the room holding her stomach and admiring how it was decorated.

"I know you can't see right now my babies," she began, gently stroking her stomach as she spoke. "But this whole room is for you, thank to your dear family and friends. They can't wait to meet you both."

Sonic entered the room a few moments later, a smile appearing on his face as he looked at his wife. Going to stand next to her, he gently wrapped his arm around her shoulders and held her close. Sally responded by resting her head on her husband's shoulder and sighing in content.

Looks great huh?" she asked. "I can't wait for Tommy and Julayla to see it."

"Same here,' said Sonic, giving her a gentle kiss on her head. "The little munchkins are gonna love it."

"I hope so," said Sally as she gave him a nuzzle on his shoulder. "I also hope to give them a good childhood and great future. After all we went through, I hope we can give them everything we missed out on."

Sonic nuzzled her back. "We'll do that and much more."

Sally nodded against her husband. "We shall, and I'm hoping to do more for them. Despite our royal duties, I want to make sure we're there when they need us and guide them down the right path."

"No worries, Sal," said Sonic reassuringly. "We will be."

"After all we went through, I want to make sure our children get a normal, loving, family life," Sally continued. "Something that was stolen from us by Robotnik..."

Sally went silent for a few seconds before chuckling. "Sorry. I'm rambling, aren't I?"

A grin appeared on Sonic's face. "No, not at all."

"If you say so Hun," Sally laughed. "I remember back in Knothole I talked too much or rambled on. A royal pain, so to speak."

"Hey, sometimes it was warranted and what we needed to hear," said Sonic.

"Bunnie said the same thing," said Sally as she lifted her head from Sonic's shoulder and walked over to the crib, picking up the plushies of Sonic and herself that Amy gifted them. "I still can't believe Amy actually made these." Smiling, she gave the Sonic plushie a hug, chuckling. "I may get one made for myself, for when you're needed elsewhere."

Sonic walked over next to her, gently taking the one of Sally into his hand. "Who knows? I might get one of you made too. Can't get enough of my Sal."

Sally laughed. "They are pretty cute, aren't they? Especially yours." She gave Sonic's plushie a kiss on its head.

The hedgehog couldn't help but laugh as he nodded his head in agreement. "They sure are."

"Your mom told me she was considering the same," said Sally. "As it's so cute and all."

"Heh, she would say something like that."

"She loved you very much," Sally continued, looking to her husband. "Both of your parents do. To this day they still talk about how much they missed you growing up as they spent most of your childhood years as Robotnik's slaves. Mother and Daddy say the same when it comes to me and Elias."

"Yeah," said Sonic. "Many times, Mom and Dad told me and almost every time Mom would turn on the waterworks."

"Mother was the same," said Sally. "It must've been so hard, and I don't want our babies to miss out on a thing." She stroked her stomach once more. "I want to be there for every moment of their lives. I don't want to miss anything. By Mobius, I'll do all I can. I'll give them the best possible lives possible, be there for them, educate them, and give them all the choices we never had."

A proud smile came to Sonic's face as he listened to his wife, and he couldn't agree more. "That goes double for me."

Sally returned his smile and then felt the babies kick, causing her muscles to ache slightly as a result. "Oh boy...I think a hot bath is in order." She then gave her hsband a seductive look. "You want to join me?"

Sonic saw the look on her face and smirked. "Sounds like a plan to me."

Taking his hand, Sally led Sonic to the second bedroom in their chambers where a huge bathroom. "I'll get the bath running."

"Perfect way to cap off an awesome day," said Sonic.

"Absolutely," said Sally as she added sweet-smelling bath foam to the running water and turned it off once it was filled up. She turned walked to a sound system that was set up in the room, pushed a button, and soft music began to play. At the same time, sensory lights lit up the room.

"Definitely setting the mood, huh?" Sonic asked, his smirk still on his face.

Sally simply nodded before stripping herself of her clothes and carefully stepping into the tub. Sonic proceeded to do the same and before too long the couple were relaxing in the water together, Sonic leaned up against one side of it with Sally sitting in front of him and leaning her back against his chest.

"Now this is the life," said Sonic.

"Mmm, yeah..." Sally said, sighing contently. "Almost like those warm evenings we bathed together in the Ring Pool...though that wasn't as warm, heh."

Sonic grinned. "Yeah, you're right about that."

Sally smiled and leaned more against him. "This feels so good..." She could feel the babies relaxing in her stomach. "Tommy and Julayla are enjoying it too."

Sonic wrapped his arms around her and rested his hands on her stomach. Feeling content, Sally sighed once more as she rested against her husband. Sonic responded by giving her a soft kiss on the back of her neck and rubbing her stomach, causing her to moan softly. At that moment, a thought came to Sally, one she had pondered many times and felt now was the time.

"Sonic? May I ask you an honest question?"

Sonic nodded against her. "You can ask me anything."

"Okay..." Turning and facing him, Sally took a deep breath before placing her hand on his cheek and speaking. "Seeing where we are now...do...do you ever miss the old days? Before and during the war? Your hero days?"

For the first time practically all night, Sonic went silent. He wasn't expecting that question to come from her. Like her, it's a thought that has crossed his mind more than once. After regaining his composure, he gave her his full attention before replying. "Can't lie - Sometimes I do think back to those days. The rush and thrill. But I can't begin to tell you how glad I am that those days are where they should be - in the past."

"Really? Sally asked, stroking his cheek. "As long as I've known you, you live for the thrill. And I remember all of the times I tried to stop you. Not out of spite..." A few tears began to well up in her eyes. "...but because I didn't want to lose you...I never realized how much it meant to you..."

Sonic's face softened as he look the look on her face. "As much as it did...there was always something that meant more..."

Sally looked at him curiously. "Hun?"

Sonic placed his hand on her cheek, much like how she had hers on his. "You...it was always you..."

"Sonic..." Sally began, looking into her husband's eyes. "...you mean that? Please, I don't want you to say that because you want me to hear that. I want the truth. As I said, you've always lived for the thrill for as long as I've known you. The adventure, life or death, and I thought after everything we went through that I held you back..."

"You never held me back Sal," Sonic said firmly, but gently. "Not even once. And yeah, I did live for all that and more, but I was young at the time. I hadn't matured like I am now. Looking back on it, I was a bit reckless...okay, scratch that - a lot reckless. But how we are now, living in peace, married, about to be parents...I wouldn't trade it for anything."

Sally did her best to hold back her tears. "You truly mean that Sonic?"

Sonic nodded, leaning his head into her hand. "I mean it Sal, every single word."

Beaming as tears began to come down her cheeks, Sally leaned to Sonic and kissed him full on his lips. Sonic responded by holding her close and returning the kiss with just as much passion. Leaning more into him, Sally cupped both of Sonic's cheeks, deepened the kiss, and had a seat on his lap.

"I love you so much..." she said in between kisses.

"I love you too..." the hedgehog replied.

Feeling his wife on his lap, Sonic began to feel himself get aroused underneath her, something which didn't go unnoticed. Sally felt her husband and slightly pulled away from the kiss, a small gap separating their lips.

"Sonic...?"

"Yeah, Sal...?"

Sally placed small kisses on his lips, nose, and cheeks. "Please...I desire you..."

A moan escaped the hedgehog's mouth as a result of her kisses. "But you're pregnant...Is it safe for us to? I don't want to hurt you or the babies..."

"I checked with Dr. Quack..." said Sally, trailing her kisses to his neck. "It's safe, I promise..."

Sonic leaned his head back, exposing more of his neck to her before he looked down at her. Sally slowly turned her head from his neck and looked her husband in his eyes.

"I promise you...We're safe..."

Becoming lost in her eyes, Sonic couldn't hold himself back any longer. Reaching down and lifting Sally up by her backside, he carefully sat her on his lap, wrapped his arms around her waist and proceeded to engage in another loving, passionate kiss with her. Sally moaned in response and returned the kiss in kind, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist.

Sally breathed hard as she relaxed back into the water with her husband, coming down from the experience she shared with her husband. "Oh God...That was amazing..."

"Yeah, it was..." said Sonic, leaning back with her in his arms and trying to catch his breath. "Wow..."

Sally managed a chuckle through her breathing. "Wow is right..."

Sonic held her closer and Sally snuggled more into her beloved.

"Mmm...I love you so much Sonic...You're my world..."

"I love you more Sal," said Sonic. "You're my everything..."

Sally leaned to him and nuzzled him. "You, and the babies..." She placed her hand over his, which was resting on her swollen belly. "Tommy and Julayla, our little miracles..."

"Our Littles..." Sonic said, smiling.

"I love them so much, though we haven't met them yet," said Sally.

"Same here," said Sonic, and then he felt Sally's stomach kick a bit.

"They love you already Hun," said Sally, rubbing his hand. "They love the sound of your voice."

Sonic smirked and chuckled. "Them's my babies."

Sally gave him a soft kiss on his cheek. "You're going to be an amazing father Hun. I can see it. After all the time you spent looking after the younger ones in Knothole, you're going to be great."

"I'll do my absolute best to be," said Sonic.

"I have faith in you," said Sally before a cheeky look appeared on her face. "By the way, how have you been getting on with Nanny Rosie's Baby 101?"

Again, Sonic went silent for a few seconds before clearing his throat. "I'll get back with you on that."

Sally laughed before hugging him and giving him another kiss. Afterwards, the married couple continued to enjoy their evening together, soothed by the warm bath water and soothing music playing in the room.
